Petro Home Services - EK System 2000 - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Canton, Connecticut

I had been a customer with Petro since 2009. We always knew Petro's oil contracts were at the high end compared to their competitors. We were willing to pay that premium due to their high level of service on our complicated boiler (System 2000). Over the past 2 years we have noticed a significant decline in the service on this system. Our service manager did everything he could to try and get us a tech that the new system but his hands were tied. When our contract came due we did our homework and settled on a competitor that the oil burner manufacturer recommended for service. Their pricing was materially lower than Petro. Melissa, the loyalty specialist at Petro, was very patient with me as we explored other options. She did everything in her power to try and find a competitive price but it just couldn't work. When I told her we had decided to move on, I received another call from her boss trying to get us to stay. When I politely told this boss that we had decided to move on, she then got extremely rude and told me our service contract, that was close to 700 and renewed in December of 21, would not be pro-rated and returned. Not only that, they wouldn't come out any longer to service the boiler even though I had paid through the end of the year. While this may be somewhere buried in the fine print, you stand by your customers even if they decide to drift elsewhere in the short term while everyone navigates this high oil prices. I have been trying to get ahold of anyone from Petro all day! No answer and no response. Their communication stinks, I wish that I had read the reviews before agreeing to use them. There is no way that they have been "experiencing greater than normal call volume" all day long. I'm VERY disappointed. read more

This was the worst customer service I have ever received. We are on their budget plan, they mis-estimated our oil usages by a great deal despite us using minimal heating this winter. They called us to let us know they were either doubling our oil bill for the next six months or we would owe them a total of $1200 when our contract is up in July. We told them to double our payment, despite it being their error. My bill is now for both the doubled payment AND the original payment. No one understands why. They have the audacity to blame me. We are forced by the contract to take our last delivery with them before our contract is up. I cannot wait until July when we can be gone of this terrible business read more

Terrible customer service, lack of communication. They never listen to what the customer needs and wants. HVAC and furnace upkeep is always great and on time. Oil delivery dispatch and system needs work severely. They have cost me to pay over 1600 each time for the mistakes they make without reading the notes. Not sure if I want to use them for oil deliveries next winter over the incompetency and lack of communication, not writing notes in the system or asking what they client needs. read more

I've been trying to work with Petro for almost a year now. This company is awful. Customer service is terrible. Rates seem to be higher than most. They have left no bill or bills in the newspaper bin so I was unaware they delivered at times. They deliver when they aren't suppose to. Every time I'd call for a price quote they would come out ahead of schedule. I'm canceling my account. I do not recommend them at all. Save yourself the headache. read more

I purchased the Premier Plan this past September. I called customer service and explained I had a cold radiator with all others working. Prior to my visit from the tech I contacted sales to find out if my single zone heating system was covered under the Petro Premium plan. I asked if I should have purchased the optional zone coverage and was told since I had one zone only it was not necessary. The tech came out to my home to check on a cold radiator. He was very nice but told me I was not covered for this repair. It turns out I needed a 3/4 inch radiator valve. Customer service told me this would require their plumbing division to make the repair and would cost me $165 per hour plus parts. I purchased the Premier plan with what I thought covered this valve (my heating system). I have had good service in the past. Needless to say, this was a unpleasnant experience. Not happy. The company would be better of specifically listing what is not covered in their literature to avoid these issues going forward. read more

Be aware. When setting up your yearly contract they will add a $500+ service contract unless you specifically phone them back to cancel. They don't even ask you - they just add it hope you won't notice. read more

Be careful with Petro! They have no right contractors working with them! They say some part failed even though it wasn't and replace it with good amount of money!!! In my case, we had AC breakdown in summer, Petro guy came in and checked AC unit mentioned that there is too much of refrigerant in AC needs to remove some! After removing refrigerant in AC, it didn't work!!! He then said "Oooh there is cool Air exchanger coil inside furnace needs to be replaced" as AC unit is under warranty he can get it for free. But need to wait till company send's it!!! We dumb guys listing to them believed Petro, waited 10days burning inside home at 80F after few days I invested in window ac coolers etc., I think 11th day, I called R & E Heating and Air Conditioning, LLC to check what's going on! Contractor came in same day, checks refrigerant in AC and says it's too low that's why it's not cooling!!! He fills up the refrigerant by charging $180 plus service charge for tuning up etc., within one hour AC was back. Petro, just makes some fucking story without giving services to customer, manager talks so rude as though they are working for free for all customers!!! And top of that manager gives me offer that they can pay $50 for inconvenience caused. When contractor comes in for a min they charge $100 minimum and offer $50 for 12 days inconvenience! Please do not sign up with them. They will earn your trust with a great rate the first year then when you sign up the second year they will be totally unethical. I spoke to Rick a manager at the 1-800 number and he did nothing for us. Their goal is to say oil is .60 cents higher than your average company and say that is their cost because all they offer you. Oh he means the service contract that will cost you twice as much as other companies. Which we did not purchase. THEY ARE CROOKS. Their goal is to anger good honest bill paying customers. To get out of the contract you are charged $399.99. That is their goal to make a customer cancel the contract!!!!!!! May I say Rick personally attacked me insulting me. When I told him I was angry with Petro he replied"No, you are angry with your husband for signing the contract" WHAT! who says this. He angered me even more and he is basically saying a person is a fool to sign their contract. So much for treating a customer with respect and resolving the issue professionally. Awful customer service. This is the second time that we were given a timeframe in which a tech would arrive, and no one arrived until hours later. The first time I took a day off from work to wait from 12-4. A tech finally came at 7:45. Petro never bothered calling us to let us know, though they were aware that the tech assigned to our home had been "stuck" at another assignment until at least 2:50 when I finally called. Today we were told to expect someone between 7-9am. At 10 I called them to be told someone would definitely be arriving by 10:30. Then called again at 11:30 to be told we were "next," then at 12:30 I was told someone would def be here by 2:30. At 3:15 someone finally arrived. Meanwhile just like last time there was no proactive communication on the part of Petro. To make matters worse, our service includes auto delivery and the reason we needed help today is that yesterday we RAN OUT OF OIL, and thus had no heat. When I mentioned this to a rep on the phone she insinuate that this is our fault and perhaps we are using more oil than we did last year. I reminded her that last winter it was 60 degrees, and this year is not. If they are in the heating business I'd think they would have a better handle on weather trends and the needs of their customers. Don't use petro. read more
