I don't know what's up with all the negative reviews for Petrone's... We couldn't disagree more. We love the Buff Chick calzone. Sure it's $22 for a large, but it's HUGE (basically the size of my torso). That & a Greek salad (shout out to the homemade pita!) has fed my boyfriend & I for 2 dinners and 3 of my lunches at home. Crisps right up in the toaster oven & is delicious. In the end, I think it's unfair to give this place 1 star based off delivery pizza. How can you charge $18 for a small steak and cheese calzone?????? you took over the business. The calzone is small.. you change the price to an outrageous price and the calzone hasn't got any bigger to equal price to portion size. in fact, I ordered once and it was smaller than it used to be.. you should be ashamed of yourselves. For my birthday celebration, I organized a pizza/bar crawl with my friends to find the best pizzerias close by. I ordered us a small pizza from each of the seven pizzerias. A Melrose staple! This is a must stop place for me when I'm in the Melrose area. The employees are very friendly (and really get to know their regulars). If you're new to the area - parking is on the street with plenty of spots. While they do a large takeout/delivery business, they also have tables for you to dine inside. My go to is always the steak and cheese calzone or their Buffalo chicken calzone. Food is always consistent. Today when I was there, they gave me a warm cookie on my way out for a "sweet treat for the road". I love this place. read more

The pizza was pizza, but you couldn't ask for nicer staff. I came in with my kiddos and an older gentleman came out from the kitchen with two warm cookies for them. I review pizza's and I went petrone's first of all their pizza was amazing. They had the perfect amount of cheese and sauce the crust was beautiful. They hadn't little to no grease. The crust was soft, and it just tasted amazing. But it didn't end there. The manager asked us if we wanted to make a pizza. It was quite the day. The staff and costumer service was impressive. I had never ordered delivery from Petrone's Pizza before and I was very pleasantly surprised. Today's National Picnic Day, and a few of the restaurants in town, including Petrone's, were offering specials. Their delivery was quick and they offered contact-free delivery by ringing our doorbell and leaving the packaged food on our front porch. We really appreciated this, given our anxiety around the pandemic. I loved the pizza. I'm a fan of a slightly sweeter marinara sauce, and my pizza was fresh and loaded with veggies, cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. My husband liked the fries, and I was a fan of the mozzarella sticks. I bought a chicken salad sub as well, but I'm going to be polishing that off for dinner and lunch tomorrow. I'm not usually a yelper but I'm new to Melrose and a friend of mine recommended Petrone's... we ordered calzones and chicken fingers.. it was terrible, the chicken fingers were drier than Aruba in August and the calzone's were overcooked and had no flavor what so ever.
