HORRIBLE PLACE! Never bring your pets to be groomed here. Trusted them with my cat for grooming services and NEVER will return! My poor baby was DECLAWED and the groomer didn't even tell us his mistake. He also cut up all his little toe beans! He didnt even have the decency to apologize and bring it to our attention so we can treat his wounds! Hoping to update this review after speaking with the manager. I brought my fluffy Samoyed today to get groomed, and was charged for a grooming and de-shedding. The cut itself is not the best he has had (the booty area is uneven and not what I asked for, with a weird piece of fur hanging on the right side- tried to capture within the pics), but I can overlook that as it is challenging to find good grooming for fluffy dogs within the neighborhood. What is more upsetting is the $40 de-shedding add-on charge, when there are clumps of hair coming off him still when you pet him. I petted him for less than 5min and ended up with a handful of hair (see pic). I took him to the dog park right after grooming and multiple people commented that they were surprised that I had been charged for that, as they also had hair coming off when petting him. I contacted the shop after to request a refund of this add-on service, and was told the manager will call me tomorrow morning. I am hoping that this business can provide great customer service to help rectify this issue, because right now I cannot recommend anyone to pay for grooming here. Update- I came home and used the Furminator for about 5 min and hair continues to come out (see pic). Please refund me for a service that I am trying to do myself now. ---UPDATE: Received a call from the manager this morning. He offered to redo the deshedding service, I declined, and he agreed to the refund, stating he wants customers to have the best experience possible. He asked if I could delete the review; I said I would go ahead and update it since I still don't recommend it for other fluffy dogs, but appreciated the refund and intended to keep going to the shop for other items. I thanked him, we told each other to have a nice day, and the call ended. He called me back immediately after the call ended and said I was killing his business and that if the review isn't deleted, I can't get the refund. I tried to discuss further and he was adamant that he will not issue it. He said he was recording the line etc and was way more aggressive than the initial call that had literally just ended. I hung up shaking and feeling frustrated/confused as I have never been treated this way by a business owner. I love supporting local businesses but right now wouldn't recommend visiting this shop for any reason at all. I thought we had a resolution and am genuinely shocked at the exchange that just happened as the people at the front have always been nice. While it is awful that my refund was contingent upon deleting a review (the service was either rendered or it wasn't)- it isn't worth arguing over. *TLDR: grooming and customer service are awful, manager seems scary, go elsewhere read more

It was second time there last time was not a cut just his nail. I think whoever does the groomer should dedicated to something else. Our dig looks depressed is not eating well and sleeping alll time. Incompetent and wildly unprofessional. Zero stars. Dropped my dog off at 11am for a grooming appointment. Showed up at 4:30pm-- he wasn't ready. They said one more hour. Showed up at 5:30-6hrs later. They bring out a dog that was NOT mine. I could tell from their security camera placed in the grooming room that they had JUST placed my dog on the table. SIX HOURS LATER. I requested they retrieve my dog and they gave me countless excuses as to why & what. At the end of the day they had my dog for over SIX HOURS and he remained un-bathed AND un-groomed. Well, I recommend the groomer to be more specific. His name is Gustavo and is a cherub of light and joy! I don't think he even knows how talented he is to be perfectly honest. Now let me preface this by saying that the pet store is in the heart of Washington Heights so all the bullshit customer service you'd expect is on full display i.e. A $10 minimum to use your debit card so you pull out a 20 but then they never have change. But your response to such hustling can control the experience. Think of it like the cat in the bodega when you have an allergy to fur dander and it's 2am and it's the only place open. You make concession's But the owners are amazing and will order you anything you ask for and the prices are fair. The sales girls are sweet as well. So I was previously taking my dogs to Dog Days of New York. Which is a doggy daycare on the UWS. it's a huge loft space. The groomer there works three days a week and when you take the dogs up it's constant barking and the echoing of the space amplifies it. Now one of my two dogs has major anxiety issues, so taking him there is a nightmare for him but I "liked" her work. But the the more you use someone's services, the more you get to know them. And she started to make me uncomfortable. I think she's in some coercive control relationship. But I ain't gonna trash her on the internet, cuz my mama taught me better than that But you really don't know how good something is until you've had something great! Which is exactly what happened at Pets on Broadway. My sister came to visit me from Arizona and just recently got a new puppy and desperately needed it groomed as the last of many other things. It was a rescue puppy. We all have Shitzu's and she has a black 4 lbs one named Freya. Why she couldn't get the dog's blood work done and vaccinated, dewormed, allergy tested and groomed in Arizona before she brought it to visit my babies (Dorian Grey & Oscar Wilde) you may ask is because I'm the codependent one in the family while everyone else gets to be narcissist's. So we're walking down the street and see a grey shitzu freshly groomed and asked where they went and they said "right here at Pets on Broadway!" To be honest I preemptively judged the joint and would never have taken my dogs there first. So I made the appointment to take Freya the next day. I told the sales girl that, "it's her first time" and would it be ok if" I came with her?" Not only was it ok, she said they had cameras in in there that I could watch! So I woke up around 11 am and screamed at my narcissistic sister "Freya's appointment was at 10!" She said that she knew and had already had dropped her off. I and I asked her why she just left her there and that she's probably scared and confused. She said, "oh I was hot". So I threw my codependent shoes on and ran up the block to be with her. I got to go back and comfort her and give her a few treats. This was the amazing part. Gustavo was finishing up a dog and had my dog and another dog waiting in crates. I was a little taken aback by this because I thought about how long these dogs, including mine, would have to wait in a crate before they were gotten to. Gustavo was like a magician. He was so efficient and fast didn't cut any corners finished up the dog he had. Got to my dog washed her, dried her, gave my dog a teddy bear cut, while being loving and cooing and making baby sound's and was done in about the time of a haircut! The Store sucks two time I went l around 8:50pm and the store is locked the store closes at 9pm and the employees were all watching me knock on the door that's highly unprofessional and im sure goes against company policy to close early then your suppose to ...yeah I would never come back here again!! HORRIBLE!!! I provided clear instructions with photos for grooming my ShihTzu (long hair for ears and tail). They completely cut the fluffy tail of my ShihTzu and told me they confused him with another dog. Then the owner told me my 12lb ShihTzu was aggressive so the groomer shaved his tail. Wasn't at all impressed by the haircut. Pricing is typical to other high end salons in the city so you're better off bringing your pet to one of them! This place has terrible service and everything is over priced. I went to get my dog groomed, they told me one price over the phone and then a different price in person. Then I specifically told them how I wanted my dog's hair cut and wanted her nails to be clipped. Once I went to pick up my dog they only did a de shedding and didn't cut her hair, but yet they charged me for a full cut. So I made them take my dog back and cut her hair so I wasted more time waiting in the store. They bring my dog back out again and I see they didn't clip or buffer my dog's thumb nail. So I had to send her back in for that and Then they tell me that they don't clip the dog's nails they only buffer it. Would've been nice to know that before hand and when I had told them and paid for them to clip her nails. Absolutely terrible shop, you're better off going to petco or somewhere else. read more

If you want your time wasted then this is the pet shop for you!!! They'll schedule an appointment and send you multiple text for you to confirm only to cancel or not show up on their end last minute. It's the second time I've made the trip to the store just to be turned away because the groomer is running and hour late or not showing up period. No text or phones calls to inform you of the inconvenience they'll just let you waste your time and let you know only when you show up to the store. It's very unprofessional. I found a pet groomer right around the corner that took my Kobe in immediately once they saw how upset I was.
