Edit: gave pet smart a new chance, this time to get their nails cut. Called before I came, told me all I need is dog vaccines. Bring it in, but it isn't good enough for them because my vet handwrote it and didn't put a certain sticker on it. Wasted 30 minutes of my time, and refused me service. My daughter had her dog groomed here. Take my advice, and stay away!! They groomed him before. It wasn't perfect the first time, but at least they left him some hair. They said they cut it by their notes. I don't know who it was reading their notes, but they skinned him all the way to his feet, left a huge tail, and even cut it real short on his head. He is a small Golden Doodle, and anyone that is a "groomer" should have some idea how they should look. It will take months to grow back. He doesn't even look like the same dog. BEWARE!! Get someone that knows what they are doing before you allow them to groom someone's pet. Ridiculous!! We are so sad. :( read more

The assistant manager Kelly was absolutely awful, very rude and needs to be taught how to handle customer service! I got a 55 gal tank set here yesterday when I got home the whole tank was covered in cat litter!! I called today and was very nice saying I understand you need to wipe out even a new tank but I should not have to pick out little pieces of cat litter stuck in between the border of my brand new tank! She was very rude and told me I was overreacting basically and that there is nothing she can do that they pour cat litter on the tanks on purpose. So I called the PetSmart in Asheville and told her what just happened and asked her if that was true she laughed and said absolutely not cat litter should not be poured on the tanks at all and that the tank should not have been sold to you like that. The girl I talked too said she even knew Kelly and said that sounds like something she'd say but considering the reviews this location has witch is a very sad 2.5 stars I'm not surprised they have such a terrible worker there so if you're needing to go to PetSmart do yourselves a favor and go to the one in Asheville where they are friendly, reasonable, Kelly free and their tanks are cat litter free as they should be!!!!!!! We didn't want to return the tank cause we needed to get it set up fast so we just cleaned it best we could we just simply wanted a gift card or a little discount next time we come into this location for having to deal with this mess they made!! But now we will NEVER come to this PetSmart again!!!! read more

The groomers here are absolutely awful. I took my labradoodle in for a bath and to be clipped. Her appointment was at 230. At 530 I returned to pick her up and was told to wait in the lobby. She hadn't been clipped yet but was next up. Closing time was 6 pm. I couldn't not imagine the quality of a cut my dog would receive in 30 minutes time. Haley was the groomer and was, without a doubt, the rudest most brusque person I have encountered in a long time. She could have cared less. I retrieved my dog, paid for her bath and left. My advice is to stay away I know I certainly will. read more

Unfortunately we've had a horrible experience with this PetsMart and the one in Asheville. It took 2 months to get an appointment scheduled, once the day came they cancelled it because the groomer had to go to the hospital. I get it, things happen but they weren't helpful in getting another appointment scheduled, which was irritating. Finally got into the Arden location, two weeks later. Took my dog in and I needed to update his vaccination records they have on file. When I made this appointment over the phone they asked if we had the new vaccination records, I said yes. That was all they said, nothing about "just do you know the records must be xyz" I went in to drop him off Amelia said she couldn't accept my vaccine records because the vet we got the shots from wrote my dogs name in pen and it wasn't typed. I have been taking my dog to PetSmart for 14 years and I have never been told that the documentation must all be typed or ever had any issues. I was extremely annoyed. I had three different types of information showing that he got his shots (email confirmation and two forms), even had the tag with the tag number that matched a sheet with his name on it but she couldn't accept it. If they changed their rules, they need to let people know and mention this on one of the million calls they do in order for me to verify my appointment so I could have called the vet and had this issue taken care of prior to his appointment. read more

It amazes me the difference between Petsmart in Asheville and Arden. Same store, same prices, same stuff, but the staff and management make all the difference in the Arden location. I had a horrible experience at the Asheville store after being told customer service takes waaay too long and would promote favoritism with customers. In contrast, the staff and management in Arden are always nice and helpful. They help me with what I need, without complaint, and it only takes them a minute or two. I told them about what happened over in the Asheville store and they were baffled that management of all people would behave like that and say customer service is favoritism. They said, just keep coming back to our store, and I certainly will! read more

I bought a Guinea pig from there three days ago. She suddenly started sneezing and got crust around her eye. I got worried and brought her in with the papers. In the fine print, it says "PetSmart will not pay for your vet bill" I took her in, Hoping that they would look at her and tell me what to do. The people were very rude. They told me that they only look at dogs and cats. Why would you sell Fish, Guinea Pigs, Cats, Snakes, and other animals, have a pet hospital only to look at Dogs and cats?! I also bought a Bearded Dragon about a year and a half ago and he was sick when I got him. PetSmart was terrible. They have good supplies but the animals are all sick. And my Guinea pig is still in the 14 day window. All the pets seemed sick. I will never buy any animal from them again. read more

I thought I wrote a review before, but I guess I didn't, but need to! I love going into Petsmart no matter where I am, their selections are great, and they've always had wonderful customer service. I've always had cats, and they love it when I bring them in on the leash (my cat seriously loves leash walking). I recently got my first puppy in 20 years, and Petsmart has been my pet haven. I've been to several other pet supply stores around (locally owned and corporate, but never been as satisfied as I am with Petsmart. Not only are all the employees great, but I started the puppy training classes with Robb and he's absolutely amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better trainer even if they came to my house and trained my pup. Rob knows his stuff, he's been training since 1986 and absolutely knows what he's talking about. He's even done research with the University of Arizona one wild pack dogs and domestic dogs; you could research everything on the internet and also watch all the Animal Planet shows and not know as much as Robb does. The groomers are so helpful and very tolerable of my silly first time puppy owner questions. I love this place. read more

We made an appointment to have our dog groomed; we had to wait two weeks to get the groomer that we wanted to groom our dog. We arrived at the appointed time only to be told that the appointment was now an hour later and our dog was going to be done by a different groomer. ***Great looking on the outside but beware! Half of the betta fish are on shelves are either dead or diseased with velvet, and with dirty water. There explanation every time was that it was a bad shipment. I have bought betta fish here 3 times and they died within 3-5 days. I had had the proper equipment that they said i needed. This is the best chain pet store in my area by far. I have used their grooming services regularly for almost a year. The quality is consistent. The grooming salon staff is top notch. The store staff is (for the most part) always kind and helpful. Always loving to my pup! Great selection. read more

Very poor customer service from Jamie in grooming. As I struggled to get through the door with my dog on a leash and toddler in a shopping cart, she didn't bother to look up once. Then I stood there in front of her waiting to be acknowledged as she kept her eye on her paper and ignored me. A coworker who was busy grooming finally noticed me and acknowledged my presence and asked how she could help. When I asked for a nail trim, Jamie tossed a clip board at me and told me to sign in and wait outside on the bench and she would let me know when they could take me. As I sat on the bench her lunch was delivered by what appeared to be a friend since there was a lot of chit chat happening. Finally another groomer called me in as Jamie excused herself for her break. My experience ended well with the other groomers who were polite and professional (the only reason I gave 2 stars), but the initial customer service was horrible. read more

I've been a customer and had my dogs groomed at this location since it opened and have always been happy with their service. But my dog Wink looked so pretty yesterday I thought I would give a special thanks to Beth for doing such a good job. I never know exactly how to explain what I want for my mix-breed long haired Jack Russell-ish looking little dog, and she figured it all out and made him look like a movie star. A grooming and Kennel cough in one day! Grooming your dog here is very expensive. I considered it an average groom, but it cost almost a $100 for a under 60 lb dog. Also my dog was exposed to Kennel cough and had to see the vet five days later for severe coughing. Now this grooming visit has cost me an additional $69 for medications. My dog did have the Kennel cough vaccine prior to this grooming visit. I realize that the KC vaccine is like the flu vaccine for people, sometimes it is hit and miss to get the right strain. I called the grooming salon and informed them that my dog was exposed to kennel cough on Saturday Feb. 7, 2015. They told me they would call all appointments listed for that day to inform them about the potential for exposure to kennel cough. If your pet was there on this date, please watch your pet for a terrible cough. read more

Worst PetSmart grooming I have been to yet. I travel a lot for work and so do my dogs. We have been to a lot of PetSmart's for baths and nail trims. Normally I get a call after 2 hours that they are ready. Today I was told 3 hours. 3.5 hours later I call to find out they are ready. No call from the, k had to call. When I went to pick them up I heard them crying like I never have before. It broke my heart. Then I find out my dog who is difficult to do her nails 90% of the reason I take them in only got her hind nails trimmed. FYI they didn't need it in the first place. Only her front nails needed trimmed and they didn't touch them. Madison, Wi, Salem NH and southern LA all said they could do it with one person for my difficult dog. Here it supposedly took more then one and they only did the back which meant I had to do the front when we got home. Me doing it doesn't go well so I have scratches on my leg and she has one nail that I cut too short and now has a pressure dressing on it. Moral of the story they are not experts they are just kids with a job. If you're dog does not like some part of a bath or grooming don't take them here. They are not qualified to do it. Also because they didn't give me a report card I don't know if anal glands where done and my one dog needs them taken care of monthly or they end up on the couch/my bed. Needless to say we will NOT be returning here and I highly recommend you go somewhere else. read more

This store never stocks their products. I constantly waste my time driving to the store only to find them out of stock. Now I waste my time trying to order on line for pick up and also out of stock....At least the online site tells me NOT TO MAKE THE DRIVE! read more
