I've been bringing my pets to this Petsmart for supplies and grooming since it first opened and I have had nothing but great service, especially from the grooming salon. There are times when the checkout lines can get long but for the most part the times that you whiz right through outweigh the few times that you might have to wait. read more

M y experience with the grooming department was extremely disappointing from start to finish. My dog's appointment was scheduled for 7:00 AM, and I arrived before anyone else. However, no one was there when I arrived, and according to my receipt, my pup was not checked in until 7:33 AM. The groomer never apologized for the delay or acknowledged it in any professional manner. Communication throughout the entire experience was minimal. The groomer barely spoke to me during drop-off or pickup, which immediately made me uncomfortable. Unfortunately, my concerns only grew after bringing my dog home. The sanitary trim was done terribly. My pup was left swollen, irritated, and with visible scratches/redness that appear to have been caused by clippers or rough grooming. He went in on Tuesday, and now on Thursday he is still not himself -- he does not want to play, walk normally, or move around comfortably like he usually does. Watching him so uncomfortable and withdrawn has been heartbreaking. Based on my interaction with the groomer, I can only imagine how stressful the experience may have been for my dog. I truly regret not trusting my instincts before leaving him there. People trust groomers with beloved family members, and that responsibility should come with patience, professionalism, and care. Disappointed and Frustrated with Grooming Services I brought my miniature schnauzer to PetSmart Austell Georgia, East west Conn. for a full grooming service--wash, haircut, nail grinding, and teeth cleaning--which was supposed to cost $72 ($54 for wash and haircut, $24 for add-ons). Unfortunately, things went wrong from the start. On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, they were unable to complete the haircut due to an open wound they discovered after starting. While accidents can happen, no apology was given, and the staff immediately denied any responsibility. They also didn't explain how the injury happened and waited hours before contacting me. I was still charged $53.10 for the bath and add-ons--despite not receiving the full service I booked. They told me to come back in a few weeks to complete the haircut. On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, I returned and was told the price would be $48.60, even though all that was done was the haircut. No bath was provided this time, yet I was told they "couldn't separate" the wash and haircut--even though they clearly did the first time. I was told I was receiving a 15% discount for the inconvenience, but it made little sense given I was being double charged for the wash and haircut. The haircut alone would've been $22 without the discount--so I still overpaid. I ended up not paying the $48.60 because of the price increase and overall mishandling of the situation. In total, I was charged for services I didn't fully receive, my dog left injured with no accountability, and I was given inconsistent information about pricing. PetSmart needs to improve transparency, communicate better in these situations, and take responsibility when a pet is harmed in their care. I will not be returning. read more

I wouldn't go here again. First time taking my dog. Smelled HORRIBLE when I walked in. No urgency. Gentleman seemed so uninterested in being there. They may have bathed my dog but didn't do anything else that was included in package by the looks of it. Horrible in my opinion. The cashier was very nice though. read more

Super upset with the grooming department, took my 6 month old Cavalier in for a grooming, my hubby picked him up, paid $59.00 which was suppose to be a bath, nail trim, clean ears and brush teeth. My husband called me from car and said weird he smells worse than when I took him, sure enough he gets home with our puppy, and I wish I would not have to write this bad review, but I don't think our puppy had one thing done, like WTF, if you ran out of time to bath him just let us know, don't pretend the job was done, make us pay and let us leave, unacceptable!! This was my first bad experience as I use to bring my other sweet dog their for years with no problem, I think someone dropped the ball. read more

The groomers there are lazy! I paid for the luxury grooming service for my dog. so it comes with a full package. when I got her back, her paws were still dirty and so was her face and they didn't even brush her teeth. just gave her a mouth freshener! they offered to redo her but only as a basic wash which is not what I paid for so I just didn't show up. if you saw the work, you can just tell it was laziness and i figured they will just do the same thing. and I refuse to keep complaining. never again will I spend my hard earned money at this store or any PetSmart ever again. read more

Extremely irritated and unhappy! Called ahead in search of Superworms for my bearded dragon and was told they were available. Took my lunch break to pick some up and was shocked to find ONE CONTAINER, dated 8/17! (This was yesterday,!9/8!) This Petsmart is located on Austell Rd. near the East West Connector in Austell in a shopping strip called East East Commons. Nearby businesses includes, Target, Rue 21, Dress Barn, Five Guys, Chilli's Grill & Bar and Game Stop. As you can imagine the shopping strip is pretty busy and during peak times you should drive with caution. There seems always to be people who drive much to fast over speed bumps and never observe the "stop" signs... The store itself is a bit smaller than the ones that I've been to but I was able to to come in and get a large bag of Iams sensitive stomach cat food and a half a dozen fancy fest for my feline pals. Took my dog for a routine nail trim and they cut her nails so short they were bleeding when we left. she would barely walk for 4 days. I took her to my vet for an exam because i was worried. my vet stated that the tendon that runs from her pinky toe to her "elbow" was injured and and that it could be from pulling on her toe so hard during her nail trim. The only thing I hate about this location is the fact that they never have anyone to cut my dogs hair. I called the first week in January and they stated that the next appointment for a Simple brush and cut was mid February!!! Huh? How? The website states that their books are open but I call to verify so that I won't waste time. What is the point of this location having a grooming department if all services can not be applied? I have been to other petsmart locations in the past but I will never go to this location ever again. For starters it's a dirty store they need clean up after a pet has an accident in the store better than they do. It smells in there which they have gone nose def to it. Their customer service is nonexistent. The line was 10 people deep and they only had 1 register open. When I finally did get to the register I had a coupon for the 30 dollar bag of cat food. It was just 1 day expired and they would not take the coupon. I ask for the manager and after about 5 minutes she moseyed up to the register and also denied my coupon. I paid & as I left there were about 10 people in line waiting for the 1 register. The manager left and didn't help anyone in line. This place has 0 customer service and I will never go back here again. They will treat you like crap. Go somewhere else. read more

This review is for Diamond, a groomer at the Austell Petsmart location. Our beagle had not been bathed or had his nails clipped in a while due to illness and was scraggly looking with lumpy areas of extra fur. We had a lot of concerns and specific instructions about his care and were worried how he'd handle it. He came back totally spiffy and sleek, all the excess fur gone. Diamond had followed all our requests, all the excess hair was gone, his coat was soft and shiny, and his pedicure was beautifully done. Plus, he came home calm and happy and loving the extra petting and compliments he received. Thanks, Diamond, for taking such good care of Boomer - I know he's getting old and a little grouchy, so hopefully he behaved well for you. read more

Never go without your pet's shot records. Despite a nail trim in Oct, the current shot records can NEVER be found in the system. Just went for the last time ever after hearing again how they can't find the records, about which dog is it? (other family dog died 6 years ago), and which phone number?( haven't had other phone number for 10 years). Groomers are nice but nothing is correct in their computer system and no one makes errors disappear. read more

This review is based on the grooming. Grooming is mostly a hit or miss. So is making an appointment. I get a little irritated, but I try not to let that bother me. I come for the specials, but otherwise I wash my dog myself. Overall, they do a great job bathing and brushing my Mini American Eskimo. He always smell amazing after coming here. And quite honestly, I hate brushing him. They do little trims if there are small enough knots. But as for haircuts, it has been bad. My dog came home with such a bad cut, all I can do is laugh at him and give him a blanket to cover up. But my dog is young and his hair grew back just fine. Do keep in mind that this is based on two experience I had and it doesn't mean that i would never go to them again. I would if the price is right. They do a pretty sufficient with job with my dog, overall. Quality is great for cutting nails and bathing, cutting not so much. read more

Jim is an absolute hero. He's the puppy trainer and I trust him with my life. Everything he says works and he's super nice and LOVES dogs. They also have cashiers that re friendly and helpful. And the medical center in the back of the store is really nice. Also they treat your pets sooo well when they bathe them. This is no longer my closet pet store but I don't mind driving out my way for this stores service. read more

August 05, 2017 @ 9:10am I took my Poo-Chon puppy Miss Coconut to the Petsmart at the 4155 Austell Rlocation for the puppy training. "Jim" is the instructor for the class. Jim has a chocolate Retriver or Labrador "TJ" that he brings to work with him everyday. The class was to start at 9:30am. While we waited for the class to start we walked around the store to kill some time. My 10 year old son was with me and he had met Jim and TJ before. Jim took my son to the training station so he could play with TJ. A few minutes later I went to the training station because the class was about to start. Jim was standing outside of the training area assisting a customer. When Jim saw me he instructed me to take my pup inside and he'd be right there. My son was still playing with TJ at the time. When we entered the area my son came over towards us. We (me and my pup) weren't in there no more than a minute when TJ (weighing approximately 95-110lbs) viciously attacked my 12 lbs puppy! He growled and barked at her and grabbed her by her snout and shook her like a rag doll! My pup was petrified and suffered an eye injury from the bite. The manager "Josh" came over along with other people because of the loud commotion to see what was going on. Josh escorted us to the back where the hospital was located and had a Doctor check out my pups injuries. While we waited for the Doctor, I told my son to go get Miss Coconut's things. When my son returned he said Jim told him that TJ must have became jealous because he (my son) stopped playing with him when my pup and I entered the area. The Doctor took care of Miss Coconut's injuries and provided some medication for her eye and a cone for her neck so she can't rub her eye. On the way out of the store, Josh spoke with me and said he didn't understand why TJ was not in his crate if Jim was not in the training area. Josh also stated that Jim is required to be in the training area if his dog is out. My pup was so traumatized and whimpered all night! I will never go to another Petsmart! read more

I have 2 small senior dogs who needed their nails done. I have taken them to this PetSmart before for this service but it had been a while. I was told by an employee that I did not need an appt. because they do nails between 11 - 4 for walk-ins. So I was there at 11:00 today. I was barely acknowledged - but was told I needed up-to-date rabies certificates. OK - I walked to the back of the store and got them from Banfield. Brought them back to groomer who, again, barely acknowledged my existence. (I was the only customer in the salon because of Covid restrictions.) I watched one groomer work on a scared poodle for 10 minutes and only spoke to the dog once.) After I was ignored for about 10 mins. while the girl behind the counter entered information in the computer and spoke to a co-worker, she finally looked at me and asked if my dogs had behavior or health issues. I said they were seniors. She asked if they had heart murmurs and I said they did. She told me that she had to check with my vet to see how bad the murmurs were because they could not trim nails if they were a certain level. You could not have asked me this 10 minutes ago? I told her that their murmurs were exactly as they were the last time my dogs had their nails trimmed. But at this point, I was tired of being ignored. I was not letting anyone there touch my dogs. If you are in the service industry, acknowledge customers with a smile and a kind word. That is your job. I did not care if they could trim my dogs' nails or not. What I cared about was being treated like I was invisible. Being rude to customers is unacceptable. I do not recommend this place for any kind of service after observing their practices with customers and pets. read more

I absolutely adore this Petsmart. For years I've been a fan of their staff in the store, they are always friendly and helpful. The Banfield pet hospital has been a lifesaver for my pets. It's the only vet I can go to that my furrbabies don't freak out about being left at for their comprehensive exams. The vets always go above and beyond to make sure we understand everything they are doing and why. A little bit of personal compassion goes a long way when it comes patient care, especially when concerning my pets. read more

I brought my maltipoo in for the first time for a simple bath and nail trim. I usually go to a local groomer but decided since my dog only needed a bath I would try Petsmart. I was happy with the ease of their online appointment feature. When I brought my dog in I was advised that I would receive a call back once he was ready. 4 hours later I called in to check the status and was advised that my dog was ready. From the first appearance he looked okay and noticed that his hair was still a bit curly when usually after a blow dry his hair is typically straight. Just one day after his bath I began to brush my dog and noticed that his hair was matted in his butt and neck area. My dog is not prone to matting so I instantly knew that it came from his hair not being completely blown dry with his bath. Of course with hair matting I had to cut pieces out of his coat which I was was highly upset about. I will not be returning for any of their grooming services and wish that they teach their groomers proper grooming techniques before tending to people's animals. read more

I took my dogs to get their nails clipped and was informed that I needed their rabies vaccination paperwork before they could cut their nails. I had called the day before and was not told this on the phone, but both dogs have their current tags on their collars. . The vet was closed SO the groomer would not cut their toenails because she said the computer stops her without that paper I say bull. The dogs are Chihuahua and Terrier. They should have told me about the papers when I called. What a waste of time. And the manager of the grooming section was unprofessional and rude. read more

Went in to get some cat food today. Had a $3 coupon so I got a new toy for my cat. Cashier lectured me because I didn't correctly print out coupon?? I told her that the sheet of paper I handed her was what printed out when I selected the print coupon option. She said the knew what to do since I brought both sheets of paper with me. I took my poodle to get touched up in the winter, just a clean face, bottom, and paws. Came back and I could see his skin through his fur, WTH! Another day I took him for a standard poodle cut, he came out looking like a terrier, beard and all, no shaved face....HUh! Another day, they cut his paw. They told me they took him to the vet to get him checked and they said he was fine. This was my report when I picked him up. My absolute last visit, they cut my dogs ear, he was at the vet for 5 hours to stop the bleeding and possibly stitches. They decided on no stitches but now he has a permanent split in his ear. That was the last straw, he has a new groomer. read more

The animals don't look healthy, in particular the fish. There were multiple dead fish floating around in the tanks, lying on the rocks, and stuck to the filters. Betta fish are sickly and losing color, some losing scales. Employee made a big watery mess in front of tanks and left it there without even putting a sign, my kid slipped and almost fell. Hadn't originally intended to leave a nasty review as I don't like to do that, but when I wrote a very nicely worded email on the website but the response was so canned it showed no indication that they had even read it. It was off-putting and that, combined with the reviews here, show that they really don't care. Do not get your pets here, they are not cared for. They don't even have that many in stock to begin with. read more

When I politely mentioned to the employees that the tortoises can't and won't eat dry HARD pellets-employee 1 sent me to someone else-but that person wasn't there. I then walked over to the back of the store where another employee paged someone for me. I met the 3rd employee and expressed my concern over the pellets and lack of fresh veggies (the water was also very murky and dirty). She said -we "mist" the pellets. I told her I own a tortoise and sometimes feed the same pellets and that the pellets have to be soaked for at least one min.-in which case these pellets will become soft and grow twice their size. At that point she looked away from me and said she had nothing to do with feeding or managing "those animals" and would let a manager know tomorrow. She expressed no concern or good customer service-like. "thank you for letting us know, I will let a manager know tomorrow and in the meantime will try soaking the tortoises pellets." When I told her thank you and that I appreciated her help-she barely mumbled you're welcome. She seemed very put out. Also-another customer wanted to purchase a bearded dragon (lizard) -the same girl looked over to the first employee I originally asked for helped and yelled over -"I don't know anything about these-do you?" They laughed and both said no. She then asked the customer if they knew what they needed ... I noticed this poor skinny bearded dragon was trying to eat the moss in its enclosure bc it was more fresh than the dry pellets!! They need insects and fresh veggies! If this pet store can't properly provide a decent diet for these exotic animals and properly train the employees on the animals themselves -then they should not be selling them! These animals are being sold unhealthy and for high prices tags!!! Please do not buy reptiles from here, go to Repticon-you will get the same animal for half the price and a lot healthier. read more

She takes the time to make sure the dogs are good. and she make sure that everything you ask for is done right. So glad that Geana Sponsel takes care of my dogs. I would recommend her to anyone. I was interested in a guinea pig and the store was about to close in 10 mins and wanted to quickly see a guinea pig to see if I wanted her. Mine had passed away a few months before and I was finally ready to get another one. So I got someone to come and they came over. However, there was a lady that was standing there looking at the guinea pigs too. And when the employee asked me 'which one I wanted to see' the lady that was standing there thought she was talking to her and so she pointed to the one she wanted to see. And the employee just forgot about me and started helping her and took out the one the lady was going to buy. And so I waited my turn and when I asked to see one she looked confused and said well she's actually buying one and were about to close. You can come back tomorrow...... The only reason I wanted to see her before I bought her was because some of the other guinea pigs were sick. Some had a half closed eye with crust around it and sometimes when I go they have flies in their cages. That's all. Chill with trying to make a sell and care more for your animals they come from a horrible place they at least deserve that much. Shop at a small pet shop instead and go to breeders that actually care for their animals. read more

The grooming department is awful. I took my Boston for a bath and nail trim as I have done many times before. My first cue to run should have been the lady yelling at a large dog in a muzzle who didn't like having his nails cut. Low and behold she's the groomer for my dog but I went ahead and left her. No one told me anything about coming back at a certain time. I waited in my car almost 2 hours since other visits have always been quick. I go inside and again complete chaos with no one helping the 4 of us in the lobby. The girl finally brings my dog and I leave. As soon as I get in the car it's evident her nails were not cut and she certainly wasn't brushed. Basically I paid for serivce I didn't get. The manager called back and was half heartedly apologetic but blamed me for coming to get her too soon. I explained how dishonest it is for someone to bring her out as done when she wasn't - I would have happily come back later. She then tried to change the appointment time to make it look like my dog was only there an hour. I plan to get a full refund and take her somewhere else. Save your time and money and go where they care about your pet and the service they are providing. read more

Do not shop at this location. The new manager Britney is horrible. I purchased a snake from here & less than a week later, it passed away. This is my second pet smart snake I've had that died, I might add. So, upon discovering the deceased snake, I called the store very upset & was told to bring in my receipt to receive a refund. I went up there, receipt in tow only to be told by Brittney, the store manager, that she wanted to see the dead snake to prove it was dead. I was horrified when she said this to me. As if waking up to a dead snake isn't traumatic enough, she was asking me to cart his dead body in for "proof"! I was disgusted & felt very disrespected. She refused to give me a refund & had a horrid, nasty attitude the entire duration of our conversation. She was new & it definitely showed. I will not be returning to this location thanks to her disgusting attitude, lack of concern & extremely poor customer service. read more

Finally after standing there for a few minutes I said we are here to pick up...still no one said a word the skinny black girl behind the counter just kept looking around like we were not even there. Then they brought out our dog and he did not even smell like he had a bath. Would not redo his bath as it was a Holiday. Had not even hardly been brushed as hair was everywhere. WILL NEVER GO BACK. I've been using the grooming salon for 5 years and my Maltese mix always looks great and has a great time. All the groomers have been sweet and friendly. The rest of the store is just like any other PetSmart. Good sales every once in awhile and never much of a wait to check out. read more
