Honestly, I do not recommend the service in this place because the attention is super bad, the person who took care of my dog I saw through the glass that he hit my dog and pulled his ears when I have never done that with my pet, I mistreat him, I also do not dedicate enough time to him for being in charge of the computer and other things. I consider that I paid too much for an incomplete service, my dog's nails were horrible, the haircut she also did what she wanted and not what I asked, I left my dog like a rat and also his ears dirty and not to mention that my dog arrived with scratches and allergies on the skin of that place. In addition to the cut that made it all sheared and badly done. Definitely this place does not have the level of attention that many people expect, the quality of service is bad and I am going to file a formal complaint so that they return my money and also pay what I spent at the vet because my dog has his skin all pink after going there. I don't know if I would hit her in the back where they shower them but she mistreated my dog. I want my money back. Very bad service read more

I would not recommend this store for any grooming service. I have a medium size golden doodle and there have now been 3 different problems at this store which will force us to never return. The first two were an appointment canceled 1 hour before it was supposed to begin. The other was the worst haircut a puppy had ever received. But both of those things happen. Someone has a bad day or emergency circumstances. Today's interaction was entirely unacceptable and unprofessional. We arrived for a bath and brush after we had spent the weekend at the shore and the dog was playing in the water and dirt. My dog was visibly shaking as she is fearful of this place from previous grooming appointments. When we check in, we see a groomer who is shaving a small dog. The dog is audibly crying and the groomer is making fun of the dog to their coworkers. Just my luck, it is that same groomer who comes to take my dog. She touches my dogs ear and then the back of her legs and says "nope we can't wash her today. She needs a cut. You must reschedule." Turns around and walks back behind the counter......that was it. No explanation, no discussion, no working with us to figure out how we could get her washed today. This worker was incredibly rude and I hope other dogs don't have the misfortune of being groomed by her. We will not be back to this Petsmart. If you need grooming, I'd search elsewhere. The issue was not the advice, but the manner in which it was delivered. Rather than offering a brief professional recommendation, they engaged in an unnecessarily contentious exchange that transformed a routine check-in into an unpleasant interaction marked by remarkably poor customer service. There is a distinction between educating a client and presuming the need to lecture one. Unfortunately, my experience at this grooming location was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. The staff was rude and dismissive, which made the entire visit very unpleasant. I would not recommend this groomer and will not be returning. I have two small Chihuahua mixes and scheduled two separate grooming appointments, one at 5:00 pm and another at 6:00 pm. I arrived about 10 minutes late due to heavy traffic on Wisconsin Ave and immediately apologized. Upon arrival, none of the three staff members acknowledged or greeted me, which already set an unwelcoming tone. One staff member stopped grooming a dog to check me in but did so without saying a word. While doing so, she nearly fell from a chair and then forcefully pushed it down the aisle between grooming stations while loudly complaining, without regard for the dogs on the tables. This behavior felt disruptive and unnecessary. When I provided the rabies certificate for my first dog, I explained that I would bring the second certificate when I returned with my other dog for her scheduled appointment. At that point, the staff member became increasingly hostile, raised her voice, and stated that she expected both dogs to be brought at the same time--despite the appointments being scheduled separately. I calmly explained that I intentionally scheduled them separately to reduce stress for one of my dogs, who is very anxious. She continued to respond with irritation and attitude, stating in a dismissive manner that the dog would not be ready until 7:30 pm, even though it was only 5:15 pm at the time. She also appeared upset that I did not provide both rabies certificates at once, despite my explanation. From the moment I arrived, the staff member was impatient, annoyed, and unprofessional. Due to the way I was treated, I chose to leave and not proceed with the appointment. The only reason I returned to this groomer was because my regular groomer is currently on maternity leave, and I wanted my dogs bathed before Christmas. I have visited this location in the past and had already felt that kindness and professionalism were lacking, but this experience confirmed those concerns. The appointment also remained active online until after I raised the issue in person. What's most disappointing is the lack of accountability ​and effort to make it right. Almost two years ago, we brought our little guy, Izzy, home from this Pet Smart location. The initial application process was detailed yet quite clear with a targeted message: If you want this kitten, explain why you are giving him a forever home and how you are going to do it. In other words, don't just spew out a trite message such as "Oooh, he's so cute." or "OMG, I want this baby so much." The adoption contract is quite clear on the responsibilities and cost factor of pet ownership. Applicants are screened carefully to ensure, as thoroughly as possible, the kitten/cat will have the best chance of having a forever home. Adoption fees are reasonable...but not cheap. The animals receive a great deal of love and attention whilst waiting for their new pet parent. When we came to get Izzy, he was playing with one of the volunteers outside of his pen and as she picked him up to put him back inside...she kissed him on his head. Want a happy, well adjusted kitty? The "volunteer" who runs their cat adoptions is extremely rude and has clearly never had a taste of real power before this because she smugly enjoys her ability to deny you the ability to adopt if you're a single parent - or a "non traditional" household like mine. Trinh asked inappropriate questions related to my lifestyle, implying it was to judge my suitability as a cat owner. Rather than allow me to adopt she waited for additional "more suitable" adopters, keeping the awesome cat my family and I bonded with from a happy home because she disapproved of my casual dress and single parent status. She wasn't concerned with getting the cat out of the box it was living in by giving it to me - a qualified available adopter. She said in store when I applied for adoption after bonding with the cat, "Don't expect to hear back from me if I find a more qualified adopter." Her prejudice against my non traditional family was unspoken but clear. My tip to succeed on your adoption application? Dress and act like you're from Bethesda. You will have to strategize in order to get passed the crazy cat lady on the HIGHEST horse imaginable. read more

If your dog is nervous, or anxious, do not bring them here or any Pet Smart. Certainly do not bring them to stay over night if your dog is nervous. Management does not allow for dogs to have breaks in their kennels, which would help their brains and minds settle. That takes man power, getting them in and out of the kennels, which they don't seem to have. Some staff handle the dogs roughly if the dog is scared to be tagged for instance. Pay attention to your dog's body language going in and out of this place. Is he calm or nervous and jumpy. That will tell you. read more

This review is solely for the store/retail portion. Maybe I'm a super bougie pet parent... but for some reason... the idea of taking my baby puppy to a vet inside of a Petsmart... does not appeal to me. And ya know what... I pay a premium to go to a solid 5-star vet in the area. But that speaks to my coffee mug I cherish which says "I work so my dog can have a better life." I've been here multiple times to pick up prescription food for my pup. And I will say that the Banfield Hospital was nice enough to grab a fax from my vet and provide a prescription card that I could use in store to purchase the food. Overall, the selection of toys and treats is good. But the toys are PRETTY pricey. I honestly prefer to get my toys at a place like Homegoods... they tend to be 1/4 or 1/2 the price. Generally the store is clean and the cashiers have been nice and accommodating. It's a fairly small Petsmart - it being in Bethesda. But the selection is pretty good for it being a smaller store. I'm really in between 3 and 4 stars here, and I'm erring on the 4 stars because I haven't really had a bad experience here. Yeah... parking is a little annoying in the small garage below, but I've always been able to find a spot. Remember to bring your ticket upstairs as Petsmart will validate it for you. Overall, a solid place nearby that has what I need. Nothing spectacular, but definitely nothing bad in my opinion. read more

I have been taking my dogs to be groomed here for years. Nelza is the only groomer that I trust with my poodle bichon mix. Nelza has always done the best job, and even though I have now moved over 30 minutes away, I still come back just to have Nelza groom my dogs, she really is the best! In the past other groomers have simply shaved down my dog due to matting, Nelza was the first groomer who did not have to shave my dog Libby. I don't know why I feel so prompted to leave a review for petsmart, but it upsets me that their yelp rating is so low, as I have always had extremely positive experiences here!! All the employees are kind and helpful, and they remind me to validate my parking which is a huge plus for my forgetful self. When I bought a hamster here a few years ago, an employee patiently walked me through everything I'd need, and even price-matched each item for me to make sure I wasn't paying more than I would online. When my lab was a puppy she attended multiple training classes here and was obsessed with her trainer, Jordan. While I was upset to find out he had since been let go (this was many years ago), this was a great experience for us. Luna was a huge teachers pet and loved being used as an example because it meant she got extra snacks. She learned how to give high fives and even go to her bed on command, which comes in very handy. Now that I have another puppy, she loooves to roam around the store and pick out toys and snacks. My one complaint is that the prices are not comparable to what you would find on amazon or chewy. While my wallet hates me for it, Cassie the corgi is OBSESSED, and she always makes new friends when we go-- whether employees or other customers and their pups. I will never stop coming here, regardless of cost, because it's simply too much fun for me and my pets. Cassie is now signed up for training classes beginning in a few weeks and we are so excited. Please enjoy this pic of her napping in the cart when we first brought her home and picked up her first bag of food! We have also taken several pets to Banfield for veterinary services and they were always thorough, kind, and professional. Surprisingly, Scott, the Maryland regional manager called me back in less than 48 hours, listened to my concerns, acknowledged the problem, and took action to investigate the issue. He helped my dog get another grooming appointment at a different PetSmart grooming salon the same week. I was nervous but took another chance. Today, my white standard had a positive experience at the PetSmart grooming salon in Bethesda, MD. His groomer, Bianca did an amazing job. He was thoroughly bathed and pampered. His white coat was fully restored. He looks so happy and is prancing once again with a little extra pep in his step. Thank you for taking good care of my dog! read more

The clerk would not sell it to me because she said I needed a prescription card from the vet. So I had my vet email me a prescription card on letterhead the following day and when I returned to pet smart to buy the food, again they would not let me b/c it turns out the card needs to be printed out. They do not think cards over email on the vet letterhead is adequate. No one told me this on my visit the prior day! The substitute store manager George Willis was totally rude to me about this. We boarded our dog for the weekend from Friday morning to Sunday morning this past weekend. We didn't receive any calls during the weekend, so thought all was well. We picked our pup up and he had been laying in his own urine for hours in his suite. They said it had been recent but the urine was dried on his fur. They didn't apologize or say much about it or than oops. We had to give him a bath when we got home and clean his leash/harness because both wreaked on urine. We also noticed dried blood and cut on his ear that we know for a fact was not there before he was dropped off on Friday. We have no other dogs and he rarely sees any other dogs when out and about. We called to ask about it and they said there was no notes about an incident. I know the cut was bothering him because he would shake his head and pull back when I touched his ear. Depending on how this boarding went, I was going to use this PetSmart for when we go on family trips but I will look for a better place for my dog to go. I think this was pretty neglectful and I've never had this happen with any other boarder. I do not recommend PetSmart for boarding. read more

Yay! Erika is back at this location. When my guy isn't vacationing in Michigan during July and December, this is where he "likes" to be groomed. Pampering your pooch is never cheap, but PetSmart is cheaper than boutique doggie salons. I pay $48 for my guy, but prices vary by breed, size and how matted your canine is. I also like that they now use a dremel to file your pooch's nails. It was an additional $11, but well worth it. It keeps him from biting his nails like his mommy. Bad Mommy! read more

I took my dog here to day camp and to get groomed. The reason I'm giving 1 star is to warn other people before they board their dogs here! They DO NOT take the dogs outside to go to the bathroom. The dogs are expected to go on the floor. If your dog is potty trained, you can see how this is irresponsible and ridiculous! I left my dog here from 9AM - 7PM. When I picked her up, she couldn't get outside to go to the bathroom fast enough, and then was constipated from holding it so long. I gave her a walk but she still couldn't go, and then while I was sleeping that night she had diarrhea all over my apartment from being so backed up. DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOGS HERE! Board your dog somewhere where they will let them go outside and go to the bathroom!!!! So absurd that this is Petsmart's policy! I'm sure my dog is not the first to get sick from trying to hold it so long. The grooming job was not good either. I have a poodle and I brush her frequently, and you need to brush from the base of the hair. It looked like someone just brushed the top of her hair and she still had knots on her legs, feet, butt, and stomach. Frankly it looked like they only brushed her head and back. Just looked like a super lazy grooming job. Don't recommend the grooming for anyone else that has any kinds of doodle mixes or you will leave dissatisfied! read more

I don't know why I gave them more than one chance. I asked for my dog to maintain his natural fluff and the lazy "groomer" decided to shave him almost down to his skin. Skylar, E. is a terrible and lazy. I had very specific instructions: round face, short ears, only remove 0.25 inches of fur. I paid for the deluxe package, and got ripped off big time. They kept his face and ears long and gave the body a buzz cut. How did they think the bobble head look was acceptable? Never going back again. Save your money. The "groomers" there always smell like marijuana so I guess its my fault for not trusting my instincts. read more

Do not use the grooming services here. I was charged $20 to get my greyhound's nail grinded and teeth brushed. However, I clearly saw that his teeth were not brushed. The grooming lady made two attempts to brush his teeth, and both times he turned his head away. She made no mentions of this when she brought him back to me even though I watched his entire grooming session. When I got home, I also saw that she had nicked the quick of two of his nails! I feel terrible making my dog sit through such negligent care. What a waste of time and money. read more

I came here on a week night to pickup an online order. This PetSmart is smaller than other locations I have seen. The cashiers were new employees so they were unsure where to grab customer pickup items so they had to grab a manager. It took awhile for the manager to come out. He assisted me with my online order (picking up two prepaid bags of dog food). The staff here weren't amazing and they weren't terrible, they were standing around and chatting with one another about how they had no idea where anything was while I waited for the manager to come out to assist -_- This location is right off of Wisconsin Avenue, there is street parking available as well as an underground garage. There is free two hour validation with purchase from PetSmart if you are unable to find street parking, but the garage is relatively small so you may have issues finding parking there as well depending on when you go... several retailers share the garage, a popular yoga studio being one of them, so a bunch of those students park in this garage as well. read more

We left our dog with the hotel twice now, and we won't be returning. $350 for five nights of platinum service, a bath and a nail trim. When I picked her up, she proceeded to pee more than I've ever seen her go. She's a 9 month old puppy who has had numerous accidents at home...and she's never gone this much. Two giant puddles in the lobby of the pet hotel. I was told by the employee that she had been walked that morning. She doesn't go that much in an entire day. Then as we were leaving she went #2 by the register. For a dog who goes maybe once a day, taking a massive #2 is very unlike her. Sure, it's a dog and she's away from home and she's excited to see her owner and go home...but she's never gone to the bathroom like this. It sure seems like she wasn't walked today. Then she immediately peed again when we got home. We were giving this place a second chance after the first major issue we had a couple months back. There was a push pin in her toy that wasn't there when we dropped her at the pet hotel. That could've ended in disaster but luckily we found it before she hurt herself. We'll find another pet hotel for her where we'll be comfortable leaving her overnight. The manager offered a $50 refund, then $ off her next stay, then a full refund which wasn't necessary. They offered a service and I don't want it for free. We just won't do business there again. read more

We scheduled to have our dog stay overnight in the PetsHotel and I think it's going to be the last time he stays there, including our cat as well. We booked an overnight stay and then booked doggy day camp the next morning for our dog. We arrived at 3pm, we walked over to the glass windows to observe the activity of the dogs and didn't notice our dog was in the play area. We walked to the front counter to inquire why our dog wasn't in doggy day camp. The gentleman told us that our dog had snapped at another dog and he had to be removed. We have a Corgi and he has never snapped at another dog. When we take him to dog parks, he's mostly skittish and usually hangs around us instead of the other dogs. We are not the type of dog owners that know our dog has social issues and introduces them to a high volume dog area anyway. But they told us the same line about our dog when we dropped him off for doggy day camp on a previous stay. That's not to say a dog is incapable of never snapping, but here's my concerns. 1.) If our dog snapped at another dog and got aggressive to the point where he had to be removed, why weren't we immediately contacted? 2.) If our dog was removed from doggy day camp for a previous incident, why didn't anyone explain the caution and disclaimer of placing our dog in doggy day camp again if it was an established history of him snapping? 3.) Why don't they have cameras monitoring the interactions between the dogs. (I know the reason for that. It's to prevent them taking on liability for incidents and accidents.) But I won't accept that because other places have cameras monitoring the activity. 4.) If our dog snapped at another dog, why wasn't a report written to detail the incident. The gentleman removed the cost of the doggy day camp from our bill and we only had to pay for the overnight stay. When we received the report card for our dog's stay, they outlined that there was no issues. Well how can that be when he was removed from doggy day camp?! We took the dog outside so he could do his business and one side of the dirt had feces everywhere and the other side had broken piece of glass. Upon a closer look, the suites where the dogs stay appears to be cramped and looks more like a kennel. The kitty kottages are nothing more than a separation gate. It's not really appealing for the pets. Then they lost the carrier pad. They came out showing carrier pads that did not belong to our pet, but they rectified the situation by giving us a brand new one. I'll give them 2 stars because the staff is very diverse and they're extremely nice and helpful to everyone. But I feel like the PetsHotel has gone downhill. It wasn't like this years ago. I'm not sure what happened. They also have to do a better job with the appearance. It looks a little dirty in there. read more
