We needed to make arrangements for our very DIVA Siberian Husky, Kody to spend the night away from home. We were going to have upwards of eighteen people for dinner and it would have been way too much chaos for Kody. He loves people and people love him but the anxiety, chaos, and the opening and closing of the front door would have been a disaster. For his sake and the sake of our guests, we needed to find a place for him where he could be safe. I made arrangements online and received a call back from PetSmart. We confirmed all the terms and conditions and squared away the reso When I arrived on Saturday at 9 am, I brought Kody, with his meals, and medical history minus the HIPPA docs, and checked in. I told the team that if there are any issues to text me and I will come to get him. Kody does not spend time with other dogs but does spend time with humans. Like many Huskies, he's fickle, melancholy, moody, and loves strangers more than his family. I was not sure what type of hotel guest he was going to be especially during pet time with other dogs. Kody does have the inclination to be friendly with other male dogs. When I picked him up on Sunday afternoon, the team was raving about Kody, and Sidebar, he does have that effect on people. They wanted him to stay another night or be back soon. I imagined that he was this cool diva rockstar huskie that everyone fawned over and was not snooty to deal with. Like a dog version of Keanu Reeves. We had a great experience and so did Kody. read more

Pet Groomers are on commission! I have been taking my little Shih Tzu to this place for years for grooming. The last few times they increased their prices, but it was still acceptable as they told me in advance. When I took my dog in the last week for grooming, I was charged 40% more by an obnoxious groomer who told me she needs to be paid extra for her work. I did pay and leave the store. Then I called and talked to the manager and found out that the groomers are on commission. So, this time, this groomer decided to increase his commission by charging extra after the fact! I told them you got me, but you will only do it once. I won't come back. Stores who let their employees charge whatever they feel, will damage their reputation and their future business. read more

There was no gentleness or calmness when handling my cat, it was almost an annoyance & that I was imposing on them. I did call ahead and confirmed they groom cats, they said they have someone special to do this, I let them know that my cat has been groomed & nails trimmed elsewhere & this was my first time at this particular groomers and I did schedule an appointment ahead of time. Anna in grooming was as rude as anyone I've ever dealt with at this location. Sad, because I had used their grooming for 15 years with my previous dog. She doesn't care if I'm going to continue as a customer, and I'm not going to come back. There's plenty of other grooming options. Trainer Lisa is definitely the puppy "whisperer"! She can get those untrained and energy loaded puppies to do whatever she wants them to do! We had Lisa for both training classes (New Puppy and Intermediate) and though it was never as easy to get Cooper to perform as good for us as he did for Lisa, we learned a ton of training techniques that we will continue to employ going forward. It was surprising how much Cooper learned (and well as his parents!) in both 6 week courses. We can't recommend her enough! The only reason I didn't give this a 5 Star rating is that the facilities were small and it was loud and chaotic with 6 dogs & parents, though truthfully, there was usually 1 or 2 absentees in each class. read more

I tried to get my dogs nails trimmed and was very disappointed with how everything was handled. I got my dog from the humane society and when I informed them of this information to the groomers, their attitudes completely changed from welcoming to nerves. My dog is well trained and has never had signs of aggression or anything of being a "mean" dog. I am aware that my dog is very squamish when getting his nails trimmer, like many dogs are, and I let them know about it and they said no problem. Not even 5 minutes of him being in the back they said he was out of control and growled, which anyone that knows my dog knows that it is false. He has never growled at anyone of anything before. I have also personally have watched the vet trimmed his nails before and the most he has ever done was whin and bark a little, but never showed any sort of aggression. I genuinely feel that the second I told them I get him from the humane society their mindset of my dog changed. Definitely will not be supporting this company because of the lack of knowing how to handle and treatment of dogs. read more

Pet Hotel would not admit dog unless Bordetella vaccine was given by a veterinarian even though it is an nasal that is frequently purchased at a pet store and administered by the owner. The Pet Smart pet hospital staff even acknowledged that they had sent people to ZamZoes to buy the vaccine and administer it and their hotel allowed the dog to stay. Just plain crap customer service. Go to your local pet stores and pet sitters Petsmart like most big box business sucks! read more

We utilize the pet hotel facility regularly for daycare at least once a week minimum and then boarding as my wife and I both travel. Harley and the team are always super helpful and my dogs love coming to see them. Normally, I like to support locally owned businesses, however I have found most of the dog boarding facilities in Boise to be less than accommodating. Many of them are overly crowded. PetSmart always finds room for my dogs on last minute trips. We will continue giving our full support. I highly recommend the pets hotel team at Pet smart. read more

I have a very small, anxious Bichon Yorkie mix. He doesn't move around very well and is blind in one eye. Yes, he's a bit awkward and has a peculiar nature. The last time I scheduled to have him groomed, I received a call about 20 minutes after the appointment was supposed to begin. They couldn't groom him because he wasn't acting like "a normal Yorkie." When I asked what the specific issues was, I was told "he was just standing there." I wanted to make sure my little pup was ok, so I took him to the vet asap. The vet gave him a full physical/blood work. She said she didn't have any concerns, and he seemed completely fine. I have since found a great groomer that understands my dog's peculiarities and does a great job. So if you want to pay $200 and not get your dog groomed, go to this PetSmart location. read more

After adopting kittens from Simply Cats animal shelter, I was in search of a place who sells Science Diet cat food (as that's what they were being fed at the shelter). Enter PetSmart. They have a huge selection of cat supplies at decent prices. Later, I tried to transition them to another brand of food (that I could get a local pet supply store) but, unfortunately (no fault of the store or food, I'm sure), the food didn't agree with them. So, looks like my relationship with PetSmart is in for the long haul. They have a huge supply of cat litters and I love that they have several natural varieties (there's one made from walnuts that I find works well!). They usually have a pretty decent supply of clearance merchandise (the center aisle sometimes has a large selection of cat and dog toys on sale or clearance). They have an awesome return policy as well. One time, I was purchasing some Science Diet wet food (something I hadn't fed them before) and was told if they didn't like it, to bring it in and they'd give me a refund. I also love that they have an extension of the Humane Society shelter in the back. You can adopt a cat or dog, and get everything you need for your new best friend before leaving. One thing I feel is noteworthy, is that the store is always sparkling clean and orderly. In a store that multiple people bring their pets to shop with them, you wouldn't think it would be as clean as it is. But, they are on top of it because it is always immaculate. They also have an area up front for pet food donations. And, as you check out, you can opt to give a donation to animal charities. Very cool. Get to it! read more

I've been going to this Petsmart for years. We've had our ups and downs and this time I just had to walk out. This location is getting worse and worse. It used to be friendly and welcoming and now it seems like I'm an inconvenience to them. In addition, the groomers just seem to get lazier. The same two dogs that have been going to them for years and now they just prefer to shave them versus actually wash and groom. I recently scheduled an appointment for my long hair chihuahua with Jacki. His appointment was 3/3/2020 @ 6:00. He was dropped off @ 5:50pm and I received a call to pick him up at 8:05pm. They were running behind. When I picked him up, Jacki instructed me to go pay at the register and then return to pick up my dog. When I returned she explained how she was unable to finish the sanitary grooming and she also explained that she was unable to cut his hair properly at all. She asked me if it was his first time and told me he was very nervous. This was not his first time being groomed. I have taken him a few other times. They were able to trim his hair perfectly. He has never looked so awful. I was shocked that she charged me $73 for his grooming. Especially because she was not experienced enough to even finish. My dog's hair is literally hacked off. This is not an exaggeration! His hind hair looks like a child got in to the clippers and accidentally cut chunks of his hair out. The rest of his hair on his body has pieces and chunks missing. His paw hair and behind his legs are sloppy and choppy. When my husband dropped him off he asked for a light trim, not to cut/chop half his beautiful hair off and chunks of it out. His hair is ruined. It is awful. He looks hideous and embarrassing. I came in wanting to see the videos of the days they were there but all they had to say was the cameras weren't connected to the screen total bs they did return the money but I came there to find out what happened I can care less about the money! This was my first time at my local Pet Smart with the doggies. I took them in for a nail trim ended up with the whole package since the rates were very affordable ($21 for bath, nail trim, ear clean). My Princess Rajaa is not a big fan of getting her nails trimmed or a bath. A lot of places refuse to work with her. She can be a little aggressive yet they were very very patient and accommodating with her. They gave her a lot of treats and helped her feel safe. Mr Pugsley had a great time!! I am beyond disappointed with our most recent experience with PetSmart. I am dumbfounded at the total lack of professionalism exemplified not only by the local staff, but by the company as a whole, as evidenced by a policy around "Doggy Daycamp." We called the Pet Hotel asking to book a doggy daycare and overnight boarding for our two dogs - an 8 month old border collie and a 16 week old American Bully. We were informed that they would not take our American Bully for doggy daycare, as "...per company policy, we do not accept pit bulls into our daycare." Firstly, "pit bull" is not a recognized breed, but rather an umbrella term applied to a few others, most notably the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Bully. Some clubs recognize the American Pit Bull Terrier - but that is not the breed of my dog. I then kindly ask to speak to the manager (hey, I've worked in customer service before, I get that this kid isn't responsible for any of my frustration) and get forwarded to a woman who introduces herself as Penny. I tell Penny we've tried to book our American Bully for doggy daycare, only to be informed they don't allow bully breeds, and I am curious if she can help me understand this policy. She stammers for at least a full, uninterrupted 20 seconds, followed by: "Well, bully breeds have lockjaw, which makes them dangerous. And it scares people to see bully breeds in the daycare - they'll pull their dogs out if they see them there." I am beside myself. "Lockjaw" isn't a thing, unless your dog is infected with tetanus bacteria - and then it's a serious medical condition that requires immediate medical attention. The idea that bully breeds have this magical mechanism rendering them unable to unhinge their jaws once they bite something is ludicrous and completely false. That the manager of a business built on pet ownership - and therefore, someone who should most **certainly** know better - would rely on such disinformation leaves me outraged by the absolute stupidity of this. Secondly, that she would endorse stigma as the main reason behind such a company policy frankly disgusts me; I would hope that a business with such an extensive platform in the pet world would strive for excellence and knowledge within its care, and encourage such traits amongst its clients by setting the standard and leading by example. I would think a company whos sole existence thrives off the lives of our four-legged companions would feel and embrace an obligation to do better. This woman couldn't even adequately explain to me why such a company policy exists, stating "Well, everyone who works here has a bully breed, so I don't know, this isn't our fault." Out of curiosity, are Chihuahuas, Dachshunds, Chow Chows, Doberman Pinschers, Dalmatians, Rottweilers, Jack Russell Terriers, or German Shepherds also barred from entry? If not, I'd be curious as to why - these breeds have consistently scored higher than bully breeds in terms of aggression when administered temperament tests. Also, my family has had no problem registering dogs from the same litter for training sessions...So you are more than comfortable accepting our money for training classes for these dogs, but refuse to let them play? We have withdrawn our future appointments and I refuse to support such a contemptible viewpoint from someone who should absolutely know better. Friendly knowledgeable crew. The store is clean and well lit. Nice selection of products at a decent price. Areas for improvement are the cat colors could be better organized instead of having the sizes all jumbled around have all one size and then next size and so on and so forth. As well as have all the cat treats in one area including cat treats that are for breath freshening because that's how they're labeled as breath freshening cat treats. They do have groomers on site I have never tried their grooming services as I have cats. And they are pet friendly feel free to bring in your cat and or dog. read more

I have to say I've never felt better about leaving my dog with people in my life. As soon as I walked in with my fur baby, I was greeted by the stylists with "He's so cute" "Awwe" "He's adorable" and of course I agree, he's my dog but they see hundreds of dogs but they put that special effort in to make me feel better. You could immediately feel how much they all loved their doggy patrons and took pride in what they did. All the dogs being groomed were clearly visible (hair salon style) and all very calm, happy, and relaxed. My dog was not well behaved, he snapped at his poor stylist, embarrassing right? And even through his misbehavior she was so positive, patient, and kind. Even though my dog clearly had different expectations with how his day was going to go, when I came to get him he was in no rush to leave. His stylist even came out while I was paying in the front to say one last goodbye and give him loves. I could not be more grateful with how my dog and I was treated and now I can't wait to bring my pup back to be regularly groomed! Oh and his haircut is the best he's ever had!!! Update: I'm taking this review down to 2 stars. The dog trainer we loved so much no longer works here. I took my pup in to be groomed and had a bad experience. The girl who groomed him was rude and made me feel uncomfortable to leave my dog with her. She told me she "might not have enough time to finish." In which case, "he might look a little weird." She also told me I had only 3 options for a haircut, and showed me 3 different lengths of carpet. I chose the longest length. When I picked him up, it looked like they had run over him with a lawnmower. They do give you notes after each grooming session to let you know what they did. I asked her to clarify something in my dog's notes and she was clearly irritated by it. I consistently get better, more helpful service from the people at Petco than I have EVER received here. You can guess where I'm going from now on. Original review: Our pup just graduated from PetSmart's puppy training. He loved it! And we learned a ton. Cody was an excellent trainer -- always willing to answer our questions and work with the puppies (and their owners) one-on-one. We had a great experience and I would definitely recommend his training classes to other pet owners. read more

So, I go into PetSmart (or, not so smart) to purchase 50 goldfish. I ask for them in bags. Nope. The female employee states that she can't put them all in bags for me. I ask her if she has the bags I can buy. Nope. She can't give me that many bags. Um... I said buy, as in purchase. Again, "oh, noooo... I can't let you have that many." I'm thinking to myself, "well, I am buying 50 fish." Then she proceeds to tell me that the fish will only live one hour in the bag. Excuse me, I've walked around many a fair for hours, with living goldfish in a bag. I asked her how then will they survive for me to give them away. (Here's where it gets good.) Well... she tells me that whoever gets said fifteen cent fish will have to come in and buy this (she is pointing to the $40 aquarium). I burst out laughing and said, "so let me get this straight... I give them a fifteen cent fish, they have to come in and buy a $40 aquarium? "Yes, they need a LOT of room. They're going to grow." (Well, not if I leave them in the bag for 61 minutes, according to you.) She started to blather on. I looked at her and said, "I'm going to Petco." I did and Josh over there was absolutely awesome. He *gave* me the bags (more than 50), rubber bands and a big squirt of the chemical to take the chlorine out of the water. Petco's fish lasted waaaay longer than PetSmart's fish. I used to get my dogs groomed there. Not anymore. PetSmart, I liked you. Your completely imbecile employee ruined our relationship. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I try to shop locally-owned and not a chain, big box, employees are robots and can't think to do the right thing, stores. read more

We are visiting from out of town and needed a place for our dog to stay during the day for 2 days. I can't speak highly enough of the Doggie Day Camp. So great!! We don't take lightly leaving our dog in a day care or with a sitter, it's a big deal and the staff made us feel so at ease and comfortable. The facility is lovely and well kept. There is a monitor where you can see your doggie which was very nice. We could see that our boy was doing okay before we left him. He was perfectly fine when we picked him up. If you are looking for a place for your dog to stay for the day, this is the place. Look no further. Your pets will be safe, well cared for and will have fun too! read more

I have been taking my dogs to the PetSmart Groomers for several years. Recently our standard groomer left and we were forced to have another groomer take care of our fur babies. I should have known when I dropped them off that there was going to be issues, but I felt that I wanted to put my trust in them. To start off they looked at my paperwork from the prior groomer which showed exactly what each pet was to have done and then they asked me questions which were already on the paper. What # of blade to use, what shampoo to use, what we actually had done for each dog. They would refer to the paper and then say oh you want a blade 10 for this one and do you want this. I said yes, I want exactly what the previous groomer did for each dog. On the documents they had me sign there was a price for each service for each dog. They stated that we were getting a very good price and it was probably because we had been such good customers. Some dog (not mine) had peed on the floor and she blamed mine and asked me to clean it up. I didn't feel that was my job and said I'm sorry, my dog didn't do that so I'm not cleaning it up. She just scowled. She took each of my babies back to the grooming areas holding crates and said they would call when done. My husband went to pick them up and this is where it got ugly. 1. They bring my pug out and are actually shaving him while they walk with him because they missed spots. OMG - What if he would have been seriously cut because you did wrong and couldn't stop and put him on a table. 2. They cut his tail to the size of a twig. I looks horrible. 3. There are several missed spots on him and I had to trim him up. 4. They scrapped his belly pretty bad and he had scabs from the scrapes. These are my babies you are working with, not training dummies. 5. My Shit-zu actually looked really good 6. My baby pug was only getting a bath and a Furminator brushing. He didn't look like he had been brushed at all. There were gobs of old hair coming out of his fur. They tried to reassure my husband that he had been brushed and would not brush him anymore. When my husband went to pay, they charged us a whole lot more than what we were told we would pay per the paperwork we had signed. They charged us higher prices for all 3 dogs and then added an additional $3 charge for each dog because it was the holiday week and they were charging us a holiday weekend fee. Are you kidding me? I will NEVER return with my fur babies. This was absolutely ridiculous. There is no proper management at this site anymore. They are all a bunch of young untrained groomers. We love this PetSmart! All staff members, from the cashiers to the groomers, are very friendly and knowledgable. Before we even picked up our new puppy Susan was a whole heck of a lot of help! I was so nervous since I'd never had a dog before and she was asked the right questions and lead me to what I needed and what I didn't. Through the months we were in Boise, Susan was always there and often took care of Olive while she was at day camp! We also have to give a shout out to Brittany in the Grooming Department. Olive is a Labradoodle with a ton of hair and Brittany took very good care of her. If we ever find ourselves in Boise again we are headed their way. read more

Very disappointed with our service tonight. We took our Walker Coon Hound to get her nails and annal glads done. We have had great experiences here and tonight we were very dissatisfied. Previously we have had very kind groomers who knew the bread and knew she likes to sing and cries when she gets her nails done. They would hold her and were very patient with her and kind. Tonight from the moment we walked in the girl with the light hair was completely rude. She was ranting about how busy they were and then when they new she needed two people to do our service she was ticked. She was rude to our dog from the get go and was completely unfriendly. I believe that animals can sense your moods and sage was hesitant about her right away. Now sage has done very well here and has never had an issue with anyone. I run in the north end with her and she LOVES other dogs and other people. She is the first to play with kids and cuddle up next to you. She is 7 years old and has never once had a mean bone in her body. If she did we would not have photos of her with ducks and baby ducklings laying around her and cuddling up next to her. So the first thing this girl did was punish her for being a little nervous. She then immediately muzzled her. (Great fine muzzle her because she's loud and a bid dog) not a big deal. But then say she was trying to bite you the whole time while I know for a fact while WATCHING her from the store through the window where they couldn't see me, that she was NOT even being aggressive in the least. She was trying to bark/cry but she couldn't because of the muzzle, but was not trying to bite her. she was staring forward the whole time until she saw me through the window and started getting anxious. I know she's an anxious dog but she was not being aggressive towards them. The lady ripped her off the table and drug her to the back to do her annal glands and was being very rough with sage. I was very unimpressed with the way they handled the situation and I will NOT be going back!!! read more

Better than Petco. Seriously, that's about all I can say in terms of quality. It's a relatively basic pet store-- I mostly go there for aquatic plants, since their fish aren't always healthy (or alive). However, though it's a chain and I would rather buy from a local store, this store did save me in a fish semi-emergency when no other stores were open and I needed a heater. More recently, I purchased 2 young sterbai corydoras catfish, and one of them has a stunted fin, presumably from earlier fin rot. Other than that, they are healthy. The main difference between here and Petco, to me at least, is that they keep their aquatic plants in a lit shelf. It seems like a no-brainer, but Petco doesn't light their plants, so PetSmart has a higher rate of both alive and healthy flora. PetSmart also allows sale of fish to people under 18, which can be a pretty important consideration. Customer service is generally good, unless you don't like being asked if you need help, haha. The employees seem reasonably knowledgeable on the products, if not the actual animal care, so take what you hear with a grain of salt. SO impressed with Autumn in Grooming at the PetSmart off of Eagle in Meridian. I just had a baby and my poor pup has totally taken bottom place on the priority list lately and has been feeling scraggly. He was in desperate need of some attention and a haircut and Autumn was AMAZING since the minute I dropped him off. We normally have a different gal take care of our dog Whisper but today Autumn was available so we thought we'd book her. She told me she actually loves him and every time he's in to get groomed she plays with him and they have howling contests in the back room! My heart was so warmed - they were buddies and I didn't even know it! Whisper looks amazing today and he always runs and jumps and goes bounding out of PetSmart, feeling like a million bucks and you can tell his love bucket has been filled back up by these amazing groomers. I couldn't help but notice that a majority of the staff at Petsmart failed to wear masks despite idaho ranking first in the us in corona cases. This is a major health concern, I think it should be as mandatory as their uniforms. If not Petco is only a block away. read more

The workers at pet smart are not very nice. Go to pet co!!! They actually care about their animals. At pet smart we tried to return our hamsters because they were mean because of the way they were treated at pet smart and one of the guy workers there is really rude. read more
