We were extremely pissed off in the last boarding stay for our dog that was booked 8 nights. After drop-off, we checked the cameras to make sure we could see him but was having trouble connecting through their app. Upon calling the business, was informed that the cameras haven't been working for 'several days', but to call back within the next day or 2 for an update. Was also informed at this time that the ownership had just changed. Called back 2 days later to followup and check in on him. Was told it was still down but that the owner had contacted someone to take a look at it. They were going to validate with the owners about the cameras status and give us a call back. A voicemail the following day to us said they have someone looking into it but not ETA. The day before we were to do the pickup, we recieved an email that he has been poking his nose through the kennel and some fur and skin had scraped off but it wasnt an emergency. When we did the pickup, the side and tip of his nose did have skin scratched off but the top of his snouts fur was hard and caked over. It looked as if it had been that way for several days prior. I asked about the cameras and the person at the desk said it was still down and pointed to a notice taped to the desk. I asked if it was there at drop off, knowing it wasnt, and the response was it went up just a few days before. When I mentioned there should have been some type of notice given either ahead of time and/or at drop off that it was down, they tried to say it wasnt down but just glitchy. I let her know that wasnt what the person over the phone said, that it was already down for several days so we were being told 2 different and conflicting things. He has never been so stressed out previously being in a kennel that he would poke and scratch and injure his own nose/snout. When we got home and finally was able to clean/remove the caked off fur you can see just how badly his snout had been scatched. There are more cuts under other spots of his snout that are still matted over but taking it slow as to not stress him out even more. Over the years, we have boarded 3 dogs here and this stay is the most disturbed. We understand there are a lot of animals that are being looked after at any given time, but the lack of care, miscommunication and misinformation is unacceptable. To leave a loved one in someone elses care and return to them being hurt and distraught is truly heartbreaking.

My dog the day I dropped him off compared to the day I picked him up massive weight loss hip bones ribs and shoulders now protruding.

This is one of the more affordable kennels and usually has room for boarding. However every time my dogs stay there they come home thin and sick. My dog was there for 17 days I told them to feed him two cups over his usual daily amount. Picked him up he's sick and very thin. He has some sort of respiratory and eye infection (getting in with vet soon) For $1070 (they also overcharged me currently trying to get a refund) I'd expected better care. They also have a lot of young people who have no knowledge of dogs working with them. The small dog room has couches in it and the dogs rip them apart and eat the foam and batting which can cause impaction and death staff just allows it to happen even using the stuffing as a toy for the dogs encouraging the behavior. I won't use them again.

My dogs are always happy at ESK doggie daycare!

We love Emerald Street Kennels! My dogs are always so excited when we pull in the parking lot that they can barely contain themselves. When I pick them up I can tell they had fun, and they're exhausted from playing so much! My dogs go to doggie daycare sometimes and also overnight boarding when I go on trips. I've been using them for 4 years now and I have always been happy with the service and care of my dogs.

Hind leg injury.

After completing the mandatory temperament test and passing, we boarded our small dong here for the week while we were out of town. Despite advertising cameras to check in on our dog, the cameras were down all week and we could not. The day we were to pick up our 7 year old dog, we got a call that he was caught "in a scuffle" and had some marks on his ear and back. We immediately went to get him and he was too terrified to come out of the crate they had put him in. Not getting many details about what happened when we asked again, we were told by an employee from the back that he was caught between 2 dogs that were often aggressive with each other. We took our dog to the vet as recommended by the staff. He had 3 puncture wounds. One on his ear which required stitches, one on his side, and a severe one a few inches long on his hind leg. These required surgery to repair, it was that bad. After bringing before and after pictures as well as detailed reports of injuries and treatments it took them almost 48 hours to respond. We weren't looking to tear anyone down or make any fuss. The right thing to do would have been to pay for the injuries and medical treatment that were required. This business did not. They did a partial reimbursement for an expensive procedure. Our dog is not the same dog that we left them with!Highly disappointed in the outcome.

Really stinky, dark, crowded, and dogs looked miserable that were there. I would never board my baby there. Not under any circumstance.

My husband did the drop off and pick up. He assured me Bear did great and that everyone there loved him, but I was still afraid he would come home with non-stop diarrhea. Thankfully he didn't. Phew! I still wasn't convinced it didn't stress him out though. We had to kennel him again recently when we went out of state for my grandma's funeral, and this time I did the drop off. I couldn't believe how excited Bear was when we got to the kennel. And the staff was equally excited to see him. This eased MY stress and I felt I was leaving him in good hands. And no stomach issues when he came home after again. Got me thinking, my daughter loves going to hotels on vacation, so maybe it was a vacation at a doggy hotel for him, too? Just thankful I can breathe easier knowing I have somewhere I can trust to take care of my fur baby when we can't take him with us!

Upon picking my dog up, it was obvious that they had not provided my dog his medication as evidenced by the pill bottle and the check sheet they provided. I was charged for all services rendered and the lady at the front desk was absolutely one of the most unpleasant people I have ever dealt with. With in 12 hours of my dog being home, he died in my arms. I attribute this directly to Gem Crests horrible care and lack of providing him his medication as directed. I will never bring another animal to this place and I would urge anyone else from ever using this facility. I had used Gem Crest multiple times over the last 20 years and I can say with certainty that their service and reputation is nothing like it use to be.

Sometimes they are friendly, other times they have a tone and attitude. I want to be 100% they want to care for my dog while I'm away and their attitude makes me think that my dog and me are an inconvenience. . I also think they would benefit from setting up a reservation system so boarding date can be revised and confirmed by both parties. This may drive up the cost of boarding but it may save miscommunication.

Before we entrusted The Dog House with our dogs, we first came and checked the place out. They have 4 main indoor dog areas. One for large breed dogs, one for medium, one for puppies, and one for senior dogs (they may also have an area for small breeds? I know they take dogs of all sizes). They have separate stall kennels for night time as well as crates if your dog is a jumper (ie: would jump over the stall wall). They also have a grassy outdoor area for the dogs to run around outside (with real grass, not fake turf that can be found other places). The indoor areas are mostly cement floor and cinder block walls with a wooden gate for going in and out. The senior dog area is the exception. Catering to older dogs who would rather be comfortable and sleep, more than play, they have dog beds and soft, comfy couches for them to lounge on. They arranged for us to bring the dogs for a half a day, so they could test them in the sleeping areas (decide if the stall or crate would be better), and see which area would be best for them during daytime social hours. They don't charge for this and I love that they place dogs individually, based on personality and temperament, not merely size. For example, Scout (our Irish Setter), is large. She is by all accounts a large breed dog. However, her temperament is super mild and she does't really have an alpha bone in her body (I've seen her go belly up submissive for small poodles). They opted to put her in with the medium dogs, which was awesome as it kept her with Boomer, who is her very best friend, and allowed her to play with dogs who are a little more her style when it comes to romping. The dogs play as much as they're up for all day indoors and every hour or so outside. Their prices are reasonable (given the level of care) and the dogs are always supervised during play. At night, they only have to go 6 or so hours before someone is there to let them out in the morning (mine go longer at home!). We decided to have them stay. They cared for them for 4 nights and we couldn't be happier. Our dogs came home happy, healthy, and exhausted from all the play. I will definitely use them any other time we are needing overnight care. I also will likely partake in their daytime daycare on occasions when I know, due to our schedules, that our dogs won't get much exercise/play time. Get to it!
