I never really go to PetSmart .... usually I go to Petco. However, this location was nearby so I decided to quickly grab an item I needed. The cashier (boy with a black beanie) felt like he needed to share his opinions about what type of breed I need to keep my dog away from and proceeded to look down at my arm to see that exact breed tattooed on me then laugh and give me statistics. Keep in mind all I did was say hello. If you have opinion that you want to be heard and nobody asked for you are absolutely in the wrong line of work. Dear PetSmart Manager, I visited your store this afternoon around 2 PM and once again found only one register open while the line kept growing. This is the third time I've experienced this at this location during the same time frame and other times as well. When customers at the register start asking detailed questions, not mindful that the entire line stalls. Please ensure you have adequate backup at peak hours so shoppers aren't left waiting and walking out. The kid who was at the register this afternoon not sure if he was calling for backup while one customer is not caring about people waiting. I'm not a fan of this location. The lights are dim, the workers are scare, and the wait times are extremely long. I go to the Banfield location here, sometimes because ai do like one of the Vets here, but Inave some issues with them, too. On my most recent visit, I needed to purchase some food for my dog, which the refrigerators here are locked. There is a buzzer for assistance, I wanted over ten minutes for someone to come, to no avail. Finally I ask one of the cashiers, who gets on her walking talkie. After I return to the fridge, I wait a couple kites, and I see two workers coming. I guess instead of dog helping customers they wee somewhere hanging out together. read more

Petsmart Grooming on Atlantic Ave... you're terrible!! Incompetent groomers, poor customer service at the grooming salon, poor hair cut for my dog and didn't deliver the full charged services (nail trim not done and not told about it until after I paid). Sneaky fees not disclosed at time of drop off, and the manager told me they don't disclose prices until after the grooming unless a customer asks. The girl that groomed my dog told me that because my dog coughs due to a genetic condition, they couldn't complete the service because other customers would be concerned if they heard my dog coughing. I have never heard anything more stupid in my life. This was the most failed customer service experience ever. I will never bring my dog here for a groom again. Very low quality staff. read more

Took my dog here a few days ago for a haircut, against my better judgement. She was assigned Nazi B as her groomer. The groom, overall looked great and the haircut was as I asked for. However, my dog was significantly cut during the appointment--I mean, a good chunk of her skin was shaved off. I get it, accidents happen, and my dog can be squirmy. But no one said ANYTHING when I picked her up! LITERALLY NOTHING! Dogs, like humans, have to have their wounds taken care of as to avoid infection--PetSmart of all places should know this. Had I not noticed her licking the back of her leg the next day, and taken care to treat it, it could have been BAD. I'm in awe that they would do something like this and not say anything. Called and spoke to a manager, who was kind and said she'd follow up to see what happened since there was nothing reported. I am the proud mama of a lop eared bunny and I am so thankful for this Petsmart- it's one of the few places I can reliably get timothy hay for my pet bunny. They even have a wide array of hay so if your bunny is a picky eater, you can check out the selection they have here- they also have bedding, pellets and toys! Bunnies are not "mainstream" pets like cats or dogs so its really comforting to know that this location is here in Brooklyn so I can pick up stuff for the bunny when in a pinch! This place is horrible! My Groomer was 20 minutes late, which was very frustrating . As I was waiting, I saw one of the groomers in my opinion, mistreating a dog while she was cutting the dog hair! The dog started snarling at her because she kept grabbing his paws aggressively! Then, she was chastising the dog for not being still! In my opinion, she was too rough and mean to the dog! When I returned to pick up my dog, the woman gave me my receipt with no explanation. I paid the bill I came back and another woman was extremely rude. Everyone there was rude and had an attitude !! They gave me my dog. I gave a tip ( which I shouldn't have) to someone other rude women who wasn't my dog groomer . She takes the tip and didn't even say thank you! I find them to be so rude and disrespectful to humans and pets. I haven't been happy going here the past few times but it was very convenient. The last straw was the mistreatment of that dog . It was in plain view might I add! I can only imagine what is done in the back of the house. I dropped my dog off for his grooming appointment at 12pm. I showed up 15 minutes early and was told to come back for noon. Robbie O was the person I had my appointment with. We spoke, he took my dog and told me it would be 2 to 3 hours for Beni's appointment. Hour 4 approached and no call. I went inside to see him working on another dog. I asked if everything was OK with my dog and got a nasty attitude. I was told by Robbie that he had other dogs and that my dog wasn't the only dog. I replied with "but my dog was set for a 12pm appointment, you said 2-3hrs, we are currently on Hour 4 and I've heard nothing." Again, more attitude. He gave me a lot of eye cutting and neck movement and replied "I never said 2 to 3 hours, I said 3 to 4 hours" so I said "well we're currently on Hour 4, so I'm not understanding what's going on". He replied with "well you can take the dog if you don't want the haircut". Nasty, nasty, nasty!!! This is not a free service, and I pay gladly. I also tip very well. I was told he'd been bathed. I waited to pay for the bath and after waiting about 5 minutes, Robbie tells me I'm done and can leave. My dog being bathed was BS. My dog came out looking and smelling exactly the same. I do not recommend this place at all. Robbie O is extremely unprofessional, ghetto and spiteful. He cannot say he had other dogs because I checked in after about 45 minutes and saw him with no dog, and he was eating at his station. I figured at that point my dog was being bathed. She was cut too short to the point of having red marks on her neck. I was told she smelled not fresh bc I did not pick the scented shampoo. We want to give some love to PetSmart because we've consistently had decent to good haircuts here for our sheepadoodle, who have to be brushed often to avoid matting. They don't shame you for bringing in a pup that has a bit of matting and they charge a decent price for our 50lb doodle (~$120), along with reasonable prices for add ons (scissor cuts, dematting, and teeth brushing). Of course your experience and cut will depend on the actual groomer and we are still figuring out who we like, but we are starting to get a sense of who cuts our pup the way we like. A couple of months ago, I walked into this pet store because it was raining and I forgot my umbrella. While I looked around the store, I ended up in the play area for dogs. Growing up, my parents refused to let my sisters and me own a dog or cat. I owned a goldfish and I called it "Nemo." Call me original eh? I remember having a conversation with an ex-boyfriend about owning a dog. He was adamant that he wanted to own fishes only. I was like I didn't own one as a child and I felt like I missed out. It was a deal-breaker for me even though we were together for a couple of years. When I lived in Stamford, my cousin had two Scottish terriers and I loved playing with them. Going back to this pet shop, I was there for an hour. I saw the employees cleaning and restocking. They didn't ask me if I needed anything. Interesting. this was my puppy second time at Pet Smart groomers on Atlantic Ave. the first time was okay, but the groomer seemed a bit annoyed when I got there at 3pm so this time I opted for an early morning appt. 9am. the Groomer Lexi G she was late but apologize, however we discussed my dogs grooming package and I left around 9:20am. although she was late he was finished on time, or probably before time. my dog was hairless except for his tail. she cut all of his hair completely off, and I'm pretty sure the clippers were hot on him because he has red marks and you can see where he was cut really close. i still tipped but I won't be returning. This might be my first ever 1 star review. This PetSmart is probably the dingiest place on Atlantic Avenue. It's dark, small, old, and the product is extremely expensive. The grooming department has terrible customer service. Twice I've had horrid experiences dealing with the groomers here. I've had dogs my whole life, and I'm very familiar with grooming services, clippers, matting, etc. My last appointment the groomer *refused* to groom my dog because I asked for his hair to be left fluffy on his head. The groomer responds, "Your dog will look ridiculous. I'm not doing it. Maybe another groomer will do it but I won't." So she literally stood in front of me and called another groomer coming in that day to "to see if they'd be willing to do it." I should've just walked out - I'm pretty sure no one has ever been ruder to me. My goldendoodle has also gotten 3 ear infections after getting groomed here. To be fair - golden retrievers/doodles are very sensitive to water in their ears and it happens easily. So... if you're a groomer be careful with these breeds not to fill their ears with water. Although the grooming prices are more reasonable here than anywhere else in the neighborhood, it's worth the extra $50 to bring your dog elsewhere. read more

Groom For all the scary reviews for this location, I wanted to write an honest review about a good experience. A friend of ours with the same dog has been here three times and has not had any issues. After being told by other groomers that they were "too busy" to take my dog without a regular appointment, I decided to give them a try. I have a very curly Australian labradoodle, so matting is very common. I booked online with Lexi G and she was great. She listened to me, told me she wouldn't shave her and gave me actual peace of mind. She explained that there was matting in areas but that she would do her best to make sure to get the matts out but give her a full coat. I have been to other groomers in the area who have said that and continued to shave her despite telling me they wouldn't, I've also had groomers shout at me. We all know how this works; if you don't brush your dog regularly and they're a breed that matts, you shouldn't be surprised if they come back shaved. It's awful, but true and I know that when I go to groomers. But - this is the first time a groomer has worked with me. We identified the matts together, and Lexi was true to her word and understood my concerns, professional, explained everything to me and was done in three hours. I will definitely to be coming back here again - ask for Lexi G! I would get one of the earliest appointments so your pup is taken in first. read more

They only shave your dog. Post only washing my dog for $80 the associate said, "wow he sheds a lot" and handed him back to me. Petsmart was a welcomed and wise addition to the neighborhood a few years ago--unfortunately, smaller, local pet shops might not agree. This store is quite large and immaculate with pet grooming, training, vet and adoption on site. As an owner of 2 cats, I occasionally find myself buying food and supplies here. I can't speak of the dog selection, but as far as cat necessities, there's a good variety. Unfortunately, the one and only one can food my cats eat isn't carried at Petsmart. However, I've purchased dry food many times in the past. Recently, I decided to switch things up and buy a new kind of dry food. Big mistake. For nearly 24 hours, my cats just stared at the bowl. At $20 for a 6 pound bag, I didnt want it to go to waste. Petsmart's customer service was very accommodating. I called them to explain my dilemma (including throwing away the bag the food was packaged in) and they simply suggested to put the contents in another bag for a full refund or exchange! Yippee. That's just what I did and purchased an old reliable variety this time. Everybody was happy. I really like this Petsmart and it's worth checking out (including their adorable Halloween and Christmas clothing/accessories for cats/dogs). Nice. read more

Grooming: I take my dog here to get groomed frequently because it is convenient and he goes to Banfield in the same PetSmart. I booked a "Bath & Brush" service in October. Then yesterday(December) I booked the same bath and brush service and both times, that is all he got. The bath service describes that it includes a nail trim, sanitary trim, feet trimmed, etc...(pic) Nothing. He literally only got a bath and brush. Both of these services were booked with the groomer Faith. Faith clearly doesn't care to do her job or is just lazy. The service is listed as $40, ends up being $45 when booked and then ~$48 after taxes. AND then a tip. The first bath service I included the CHI package which then came to about $70. He received nothing in the CHI package. And I know this because I add the CHI to his full haircuts. Very disappointing. I am wasting money here. I had a great "Bath & Full Haircut" experience with Suzanne(?) Last month(Nov), one of the only great experiences I've ever had here. I always ask that they do not shave him down and they ALWAYS do. She is the only person who listened to what I'd like for my pet. While Suzanne gave me some hope, there have been too many poor experiences that outweigh the good. The groomer, Nicole listen to what i was looking for in a cut and offer some suggestions based on his hair type. benji is a ginger poodle mix where his hair is has a wavyfro, soft texture to it . I didn't want the typical poodle cut cause i always seen my baby as a teddy bear and she gave me just that. This location is so community based , it is on a busy strip but the traffic in the store is not as busy or heavy as you may think which I'm happily pleased about. If you ever looking for emergency cut call as early as you can because they would try to squeeze you in or have you on they're radar if anyone decides to cancel which i love . Worst pet store in all of Brooklyn. Went here today to pick up a very important rx food for my dog. Their website does not indicate any sort of delay to pick up rx dog food. Immediately after the online purchase we called Blue Pearl to authorize the order Bluepearl let us know our rx should be ready by 2:45pm. At 5:30pm I went to the store no one was at the online order pick up flag, one cashier had a line of 6 people. After waiting almost 20 mins to get to the front I get to the front and there's no record of my order even though I had an email confirmation and confirmation from my vet. The cashier paged her manager to try to come to the front but they clearly declined the request. She then asked another employee who finally appeared to help with the excessively long queue. The employee retorted oh 5-7 days for rx. I said no my vet called and they said 2:45 today and she said "well I don't know who your vet talk to" (very good grammar) and then went back to ringing the other customer. No further assistance. I was furious and I will admit i was not a happy camper when I left. When I walked out I saw the rude employee laughing with her customer about me. Yes so very funny. We called blue Pearl back and they were pissed, the pharmacist called back and apparently there was a protocol just now explained to them that you had to send the rx to the customer then you had to take it to the animal hospital and then they could fill the food order. Blue Pearl called out how no other pet store has such a crazy system. And No one got an explanation as to why the pharmacist nor myself got an explanation on what needed to be done. The employee certainly did not do her job at all because even if it takes 5-7 days (which it was confirmed it does not we were told it could be given to us this evening after our pharmacist talked to banfield) we never would have known the process because the careless employee wanted to spend more time brushing me off and laughing with her customer than doing her job. Ever since we got our Shorkie, we took him to PetSmart. Over the course of our 6 years of going there, he was injured 3 times. It was our first time being dog owners so we didn't know about whether the injuries were due to the groomers or some thing that just happens (in fact, the first time he had some skin thing, the vet called it a hot spot, show up post grooming, that's exactly what the vet said: "sometimes these things just happen"). The second time was some redness on his scortum. Again we were told these things can happen as it was probably razor burn and since our dog didn't seem too uncomfortable or in pain, we didn't make a big deal out of it. These 2 incidences happened years apart. The 3rd incident is the one where he (we) ended up blacklisted. A groomer injured him and we notified them about it. Because of Covid, we weren't often able to get the same groomer so we thought if we just got a different groomer, it would be okay but instead they said no one wanted to groom our dog anymore and we should just find a new grooming place. They also said it was their policy that we were supposed to take him to their in house vet to get their say that it was a grooming injury. No one ever told us this. After telling us we had to find a new place, they told us that an incident report would be made and to call back to follow up. I called to do that and then they just said it was company property and to rest assure that the report was made. Why did they even tell us to follow up? We have no proof of anything because everything was just filed under "company policy". read more

I've hit a block in the road when Madi switched her days of work so I had to book with someone new potential for my dogs grooming services. My name is Felicia and I had a horrific experience I PETSMART it all started last week I called the store speak to the manager and I asked manager I said I want to come in and buy six green glow fish and Six pink glow fish he assured me that both tanks were full of each color. I said OK make sure I said because I live on Stuyvesant Avenue and I said that's a $30 cab ride each way and it's flooding rain outside so he said ma'am they're all here so I said OK I'm on my way I could steer about an hour later the pink glow fish were there but the green glow fish tank was completely empty I am mediately ask for the manager I said you remember speaking to me on the phone about an hour ago about the green glow fish that you told me we're here he said they all sold out so I said do you Think that I'm stupid to believe in one hour someone just came in and brought your entire green glow fish tank completely out he said yeah I said show me the inventory list he said I don't have it, I asked how many Green Glo fish came in today he said I don't know. I said your the manager he said Yes. I said the manager must always know the inventory even if they don't show it to the customer they are supposed to know how many fish got delivered of each species of fish he told me he said since you feel that I'm a liar I'm going to excuse myself from this conversation I said you said you might excuse yourself from this conversation but this won't be the last that you hear from me, he said OK. I called PETSMART complaint number and I was given a case number 470719222. I was told I was going to receive a phone call to follow up on this matter which I did the same day I put the complainant in but I was lied to once again I was told that today Thursday morning that I will receive a phone call stating whether they have the green glow tetras in stock today up until now at 1:15 PM no one from PETSMART has had the decency to pick up the phone to contact me that's when I knew I was going to leave a complaint on all social media platforms and to add insult to injury the store regular manager called me and she said no worries Felicia we are sorry for what happened and what all you went through and I see that you still spent 140+ dollars with us that day without getting what you really came for, she said so I'm gonna make it up to you I'm gonna give you $10 off the next time you come to PETSMART I told the lady $10 off and your manager lied to me and told me to come down there and I just spent $60 in Lyft fare and 140+ dollars in your store and you gonna tell me about a $10 Discount I went over most of my receipts that I've spent in the store since the world found out we had a pandemic each one of my receipts is showing that I spend anywhere from $100-$300 each time I go there and I'm being treated like this as a customer so now I know to take my business to Petco because I see a paying customer at Petsmart this is the way they your treated and lied to by a manager over the phone to make you come all the way there and whatever you were coming for was never delivered in a store his own store employees Who I'm not gonna name they all said I don't know why he told you to come here today miss because we never got this delivery at all one of the cashiers she said I heard him when he was speaking to you over the phone telling you that we were fully stocked with that particular item she said she saw that tank was completely empty and then the original manager who he was filling out for called telling me some nonsense about giving me a $10 discount, they really should know what they really can do with that $10 discount. This PetSmart has easily broken my record for number of times that I've been to a business before writing a review, because over the past few years my wife has dragged me in here roughly 7,000 times. She's not some sort of creep that just needs to monitor pet food price fluctuations, she just really likes cats. And at any given time, A Tail at a Time adoptions has at least a few cats here, ready for adoption. Over the years, the repeated visits to see these little furry friends have been used to break me down, over and over again, until we adopted one of our own. Admittedly, we adopted through the ASPCA, but since we did, this PetSmart has become a go-to for all of our kitten's needs. They've got it all: toys, carriers, scratching posts, beds, and of course, an obscene variety of food choices. Chicken and cheese dinner? I'd eat that. Cognitive development? I need that. Occasionally the store can be understaffed, but I've found the folks that actually work here to be pleasant and helpful. They also have grooming in the front if your fuzzy buddy needs a haircut. read more

Walking my pup here is a pain but making it to Petsmart is worth the trip. The staff here are always helpful and will actually sit down with me on the floor in the aisle to try on new harnesses, collars, costumes and other things that require getting down on the floor. Booked a grooming appointment online for my long-haired cat-- the website has you choose your location and then the service before they quote you a price. Makes sense to me! I can understand that prices vary by location. Left some notes on the appointment request for Courtney about my cat and sent my boyfriend off this morning to drop off our Fennel. When he arrived, he was told out of nowhere that they "only do one style of cut" for cats and it's the hideously ugly "lion cut." Definitely not what we wanted and I have no idea why this wouldn't have been mentioned ahead of time. Plus, who only does "one style of cut" (except people who are poorly trained)? They then told us it would be 3-4 hours for Fennel to be ready for pick up. An hour and a half later, she's miraculously ready to be picked up? She makes it home and she looked HORRIBLE. They had left her feet covered in long-fur (barely even trimmed) from the ankles down. They looked like leg warmers and they were unbelievably ugly. Her "mane" was patchy and horribly uneven. Loose, half-cut patches of hair dangling down from her stomach. Her nails haven't been trimmed. Her tail was suddenly full of mats?! It would be funny if she didn't look so terrible. This review is regarding the Grooming Salon: I booked an appointment for my 12 year old mini schnauzer for an evening appointment at the Grooming Salon on Atlantic. I have previously used PetSmart's grooming services at the Upper East Side location and had a great experience. I was running late due to train delays and tried calling the Grooming Salan to notify them but no one answered the phone. When I arrived approximately 12 minutes late, I was greeted (after waiting for several minutes to be acknowledged) by two incredibly rude individuals. I explained the situation while the groomers rudely questioned and interrupted me, often raising their voices. At first, they questioned that I had even booked an appointment, and when I showed my confirmation email for the service, they refused to take my appointment stating that I had arrived outside of the designated grace period which was nowhere to be found in the confirmation email. I noted that there were additional appointments available on the website and the timing should not prohibit their ability to take another client. At this point, the groomer left a dog they were grooming unattended at the grooming table and raised her voice, saying that she would not take my business due to my attitude. During the interaction, I never raised my voice, spoke rudely, or even disagreed with the individuals. Not only was it clear that the groomers did not want to be working but they left a dog unattended causing me to believe that they do not have the training to properly work with animals. I would never take my dog to be groomed here and it hearts my heart that PetSmart would hire such rude and clearly unqualified people to work in their facility. read more

the PetSmart on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn is trash and unfriendly. to many times I had an issue with them. this last time I was 10 minutes late so to traffic and they gonna tell me they can't take my dog now and cut him. I really dislike there service. on top of that they never put my puppy's shot information in their system so when I tried to take him to another one they had none of his shots in the system. I don't recommend going to them. read more
