I used to come here and they did a good job bathing and cutting my dogs. The last two times have been absolutely terrible. The cut was so choppy my golden retriever looked like a child had taken shears to her. I decided ok no more cuts here I will just take care of that elsewhere but thought I would continue to take them for baths. After dropping them off I got a call an hour later saying they were done. That should have been my first red flag. They smelled as if they had not been bathed at all and my golden who I paid extra to have undercoat removed clearly had not been furmirated. First.... I'd like to start with I've been a LOYAL customer (grooming and normal consumer) for 18-20 years bringing pet after pet to various Petsmart's- I've been coming to this location for probably 8 years. I've always been extremely satisfied with my service for the most post (& always tip the stylist nicely regardless of my satisfaction of haircuts- for the most part my pooches always looked nice but there have been some so so 'do's' which is understandable especially for newer employees. No worries. But this last experience will be my LAST experience with any and ALL Petsmart's which truly saddens me. We have an elderly gal- 16. She can't see or hear but she's a feisty old girl but so loving. So on dropping her off it was clearly her stylist wasn't feeling it (I've never seen her before and for the most part I know or have interacted with most of the stylist since we've been with them for so long) she immediately upon seeing my girl was negative (not nasty per say but as a matter of fact) saying 'I might not be able to finish her cut because of her age' I said I understood and that's why each time I call to make appt I always give the run down (she's old- can't see or hear- and sometimes gets anxious for those very reasons- please keep her by her sister also getting washed and clipped bc she's soothes her) then goes on to say my girl has dementia- I mean WTF!?!- that was a quick shift- regardless if she does or does not (she does NOT- she's just an old lady) - who the hell are you to play vet and keep saying in a rude tone you'll do you best blah blah blah. I should've gone with my gut and taken both my babies with me and forgo haircuts- but after years of loyalty I figured it was just a one off and once she realized how sweet, yet yes, anxious my baby was- everything would be fine!! (Mind you my girl also has ZERO teeth- not a one in her mouth not a stub, snaggle- natta! So she was in zero danger/harm!! Oh and she weighs 8 pounds!) so to say when my husband left I was rather pissed but he attempted to calm me- & I was good UNTIL we went back to pick the girls back up! A different woman came out (original lady was nowhere to be found- and other woman I too have never seen) she came out and soooo as a matter of a fact said- this will be (my dogs name) last haircut with us. We can no longer cut her. I was a WRECK! I left my husband with them so I could go pay and get the hell outta there. I cried at the cash out while I paid. I then went back to the grooming dept where my hubby had my girl and our other was on the ground waiting g to be picked up. I took my old lady from my hubs as I was still crying and he plucked up our other girl. I gave them yet another nice tip (not as nice as normal but still was 18%) . The ONLY saving grace in this deplorable situation was one of the other employees (and I'm so upset I can't remember her name- but she's cut my girl in the past- an older yet beautiful lady with glasses, blonde with bangs) she could see or at least I felt she knew I was upset- she started further explaining- how my baby is older and it can be dangerous bc they don't have the right harness to hold older pups (which shame on you Petsmart- considering the amount yall charge for services and products- quit being cheap!! It's a harness! Imagine all of you older employees/higher ups in the company not being able to get a hair cut because you are old- that's discrimination and disgraceful!!!) yet your employee gave us suggestions of private home services etc.... I so appreciated her for at least helping us think of an alternate solution. So no worries, my old lady will not be coming back per yalls rude 'firing of my best friend' but neither will my other girl!!! Nor will I EVER shop or support Petsmart EVER again! I've told numerous of my friends about this situation to see if I was blowing up for no reason- and everyone has agreed this wasn't cool and they too will not be returning. That said- I've always sang yalls praise and have sent biz yalls way- NEVER AGAIN!!! You have lost a very LOYAL family for your ill treatment of old dogs!! Yall should be ashamed!! read more

I scheduled a grooming appt at this location after the Frederick (near Target) location cancelled on me. I received the confirmation call, showed up 10 minutes early only to be told they didn't have me on the schedule. We planned our whole Sunday around the drop off and pickup of our pup's grooming. "Someone called off" and they told us we'd have to reschedule. This is while 2 groomers stood there while the 3rd was grooming 1 dog. No thanks. Bye Petsmart. This a very nice to shop for your pets. The employees who work there are very knowledgeable about different pets and what you should feed them base on the pets age. The place is well lit on the inside and Very clean. The Grooming salon and Banfield Host are a good place to take your pets. The only bad thing is , withe the dark doubt doors. If you did a drive by. You can Not see their hours of operation and the dark windows in the front makes it look like they are closed. read more

This PetSmart location is near my home and convenient for me. I usually buy my pet food, treats, and get grooming done here. They price match online prices making shopping here affordable and I have never had any issues matching a price! The grooming here is..okay. They do the job and my dog always comes back happy and healthy which is the most important thing. However, the quality of the grooming leaves something to be desired. I have a labradoodle and every time I get him back even after explaining and showing photos of what I'd like, he comes back looking completely like a poodle. It's not my preferred look and this had happened twice now. Unfortunately, I don't know that I'll continue to get him groomed here because they do not seem to be capable or understand my preference. I dropped my Shih Tzu off at PetSmart in North Frederick (Osprey Way) this morning for a bath and trim for his appointment at 10am, I was told that he would be started by 12 and he would be ready by 4pm. Brendan, the groomer called me at 5:35pm to tell me that he had other dogs to get done so my dog would ready by 6:15pm. I sent my son to pick him up and he was told that he was not ready at 6:30pm. At 6:43pm I called and spoke with Brendan; he told me that he had a bunch of other dogs to get done and he was sorry. He transferred me the store manager; he apologized for the lack of communication on their part. We were reimbursed for the grooming but when my dog got home he looked as a child had done the grooming; he was supposed to have a round face! His ears had some matting so they had to shave them which was fine because I signed the waiver and they told me before it was probably going to happen. I've been taking Teddy to the Petsmart grooming salon for 9 years. Never again! They've had a huge turnover the past couple of years, and service has been touch and go. But, the last visit was the worst. The girl who gave him a cut did a horrible job that I couldn't tell until I got him home. My daughter even remarked about how bad it was. This is the closest pet store to me. I'm willing to forgive the higher prices, but more often than not, the shelves are pretty bare. I came in a week or two ago and the shelves were empty. Checked back today and could only purchase 2 cans of cat food, because that's all they had. We have a new dog I decided I will come to this Pet smart because they have Bandfield and the store has great reviews so this has to be a great store right ? Boy was I wrong I took my new rescued dog in looking all shaggy I asked them to keep the ears fluffy and the tail fluffy the rest of his body short. And give him a Mohawk if he has enough hair these are easy instructions right! I went yo pick the dog up and he had no fluffy ears I asked what happen the groomer responded his ears were to uneven so I cut them all off we can start over don't worry and I'm saying to myself that's not what I asked for! I paid $54 and not sure why I could not get what I asked for they could of called and asked do you still want fluffy ears they won't be even . I told them we rescued the dog and he hadn't had a real haircut it looked like his previous owner tried to cut him herself so they will give us our next haircut for free but I have to go to that same location I don't like that they messed ip the first time why wouldn't they mess up again . While it can take a couple minutes to be waited on every once in awhile I have to say that the employees here are among the most courteous and patient I have come across in my days. They really answer your questions thoroughly and with a gusto. They have a pretty hardy selection when it comes to supplies that they have in stock but not as much compared to the bigger store in Frederick by the mall. I would highly discourage anyone from taking your dog here for grooming. I have a Chow with a double coat, so cutting his hair short isn't recommended. The Vet recommended trimming some of the longer hair because of concerns with fleas and ticks. I brought him in and asked for a scissor trim, and specifically requested that they don't use clippers, and only take off about a half inch. When I got him back, his belly is shaved to the skin in spots, and his nipples are raw and irritated fron the clippers hitting them. Three and a half of his paws are shaved, and his back is down to the undercoat in spots. The grommer claims its because he was fidgety. It looks like it was her first time grooming a dog, and she was doing it blindfolded! The manager gave a full refund, but now what am I supposed to do about a dog who doesn't want to go outside because the sun hurts his skin? read more

I have gone to this location since it opened up and have always enjoyed my experience in particular the grooming salon. Recently however both my dogs have gotten fleas from this location and after calling and talking to a groomer I was dismissed and acted as though I was making it up. I treated both my dogs and keep in mind I don't visit Dog parks or other homes with dogs so I decided to give the grooming salon another shot and again both dogs developed a flea problem and after treating them and buying them new bedding they have been flea free for about 7mo and now take them to PetValue and bathing them myself. read more

He was so patient, so knowledgeable, & he spent alot of time explaining each product, brand of, how they work, just unbelievable support! This review is specifically in regards to the grooming salon inside PetSmart. I take my senior Basset Hound once a month to see Molli. She is FANTASTIC with him. He has chronic ear problems which require the use of an enzyme ointment. This ointment makes his ears pretty gross. Molli always makes sure his ears are nice and clean. The price is excellent as well! He gets a bath, brushing, teeth cleaning and nail grinding for less than $55. read more

We alway have wonderful service.. One lady told us all about the dog food and which were American made and how to tell. She even had coupons! The girl who does our dogs nails is fantastic they always see that "goldy" is well taken care of so we always get the package deal! Whatever you do, do NOT take your pets to the grooming salon here. They're god awful, they've cut my pet numerous times, and the groomers are completely rude. There is only one groomer whom has never given me any issues. Her name is Bethany. If you can get her to take care of your pet, you're in good hands. Any other groomer I have had is god awful. I have a 5 gallon tank with one betta, five neons, and one cory catfish. The betta and neons I purchased at this petsmart. All my fish are flourishing. When at petsmart, I didn't see any sick or stressed fish (at least not obviously). Their tanks look clean and seem to be well maintained. The ladies that work in the fish section are helpful; one in particular seemed exceptionally knowledgeable and she was very nice, and even went in to the back room to pick out a nicer plant for me. The plants are fine, some with a couple more brown and decaying leaves than others but that's okay. On the whole, I've gotten pretty nice plants from there. Healthy fish, good plants, good selection of fish food (including frozen!) and generally helpful staff in a clean, pretty store. Yay. read more

I took my dog to the grooming salon at this location as the Urbana Pike one was booked. What a mistake. Despite having been shown a picture of how I would like his face trimmed, they cut his hair all one length (exception being the random long strands of hair left on his ears and back of his neck), and didn't clean his ears. TERRIBLE customer service. This is more for PetSmart as a whole company... people in the store were very nice. People on the customer service line and who I've exchanged emails with SUCK. We used to spend hundreds of dollars a week for our three big dogs here and we were in a rush 4th of July to pick up our online order. Got to the store and half our order was being shipped to us (the two bags of dog food we needed ASAP) and the other half was in store. Why would I split my order in half?? After calling customer service (this order had been placed about 30 minutes before I called) they said there was nothing they could do and it had to be shipped. What. Are you kidding me?? So now I have to buy ANOTHER bag of dog food so our dogs can eat and after this whole ordeal we missed our 4th of July picnic. I was in tears with a crying baby in the car. It was terrible. Just to add insult to injury I didn't realize to do the buy 2 get 1 free promotion you have to add the third item to your cart, after talking to customer service about that as well they told me there was nothing they could do because I didn't add the third item to my cart.
