I usually either give a 1 star or a 5 star when I Yelp... Cause, why the in-between? It's either going to be good, or going to be bad. In this case, it definitely hits the in-between. First off, thank you to the Manager that took his time (8/22/23 @ 4:24pm) to come outside and talk to me about our little situation at the hair salon. Listen, going to this Petsmart in particular is an emotional trigger because we have been coming here for years and one of our dogs that died two years ago loved this store and walked up in it like he owned it... (I'm sure you pet lovers understand). So, grooming salon. Negatives: 1. Took about 7 minutes in the salon for them to acknowledge our check in. (The ladies, about 5 of them - were all too busy trimming their eyebrows and sharing potential conjunctivitis to say hello to myself, daughter, and dog). THERE WAS NO OTHER CUSTOMERS BUT ME!!! 2. When signing my contract or agreement, they didn't even bother to share (at least minimal) of what I was signing. (I knew what it was, been coming to Petsmart grooming for years, but lack of communication from this bunch is appalling) 3. When I asked to nail grind his paws, the lady goes "who was your dog again?" again, NO OTHER CUSTOMERS AROUND BUT ME. 4. About 1.5 hours after I dropped him off, a lady called and verbatim said to me "you need to pick up your dog, he peed on my table twice, he's too old, and he can't come back here anymore." Positives: 1. Surprisingly, my dog was partially groomed! My hubby walked out with him and his body was trimmed! The lady on the phone did not share that detail. 2. He's alive! 3. There is hope!!! If you catch a conversation with an compassionate Manager that even, at the very basic wants to LISTEN - it makes you feel valued. 4. He waived our bill!!! Whaaaaattt?!!! Who does that these days?!!! He listened and he did that for our dog. All in all, our dog passed out from being too stressed out from the action at the groomers. The groomer on the phone when she asked me to pick him (called me 3 times in a row) up did not share this detail. The action she took, which was to go straight to Banfield and asked the MD to check on Peanut, was the absolute correct action to take. And I thank her for doing that, but speaking to me in a condescending, abrupt, inconvenienced, tone of voice - did not help and did not make the situation any better. People care for their pets, literally like our family.. sometimes even more than our people family. So to that Manager that helped us and LISTENED - thank you! If Petsmart corporate is reading this, please take some time and reevaluate the customer service standards that you expect your employees to demonstrate. The Manager, absolutely demonstrated that, his associates, not so much. read more

We listed in our appointment our dog was wary of strangers and we brought her to the groomers with a muzzle on for everyone's comfort. We were rejected at our appointment because she had a muzzle on, apparently it's their policy to reject dogs that come in with a muzzle, they didn't tell us this upfront, nor did they indicate if they muzzle dogs themselves. I took my four-month-old puppy for a bath and received a call after 30 minutes saying that they had found tangled hair behind the ear that needed to be cut. When I inquired how visible it would be, they said it wouldn't be seen. I instructed them to clip the tangled hair behind the ear after hearing this. When I returned home with my pet, all I saw was that they had shaved his armpits. Firstly, who the hell gave you the permission to shave his armpits? He is just 4 month old puppy. Secondly, the employee lost their mind or what? Aren't they aware they need to inform the owners first? When I see my dog armpits, I feel terrible. They made him look like he has some skin disease. Also the package included private part hair trim and the trim is horrible. If you are not good at what you do please change or train the employees first. I went to the Pet Smart in Fremont. Took my cat there to get groomed. She is a Calico. It went well. It took 3.5 hours. Dropped her off at around 9. Picked her up at around 12:20. Matthew was great. They do not groom on weekends. It cost around $140. My cat got a detangle, shampoo, dry, nail trim and lions cut. Oh and you have to have up to date rabies shot before taking your pet. The food store portion is good so I tried out the Pet Hotel in the store. I will buy my pet food here but I will never take my cat to this hotel ever again. The sales person promise that my cat would be taken care for and I was allowed to bring my own cat food and cat litter. I asked if my cat collar, flea collar would stay on during her stay. Everything I wrote on the forms she and I went over in details. Never did she say that it would be a problem. When I dropped of my cat for the hotel reservation a few days later they took her in and asked me if they needed to feed her I said yes. I waited 90 mins for them to fed her while watching 5 staff at the front desk. I had to finally leave to catch my flight. The 3 guys at the front continue to chat about their plans for the weekend after their school got out while I repeated my request for for cat to be fed. The 2 other people were the only people working. One of the 2 repeatedly asked if one of the 3 guys could get a dog from the kennel so they could check out and was ignored while pet owner waited for his dog. I called the next day while I was out of the country dealing with an elderly sick parent and they informed me that my cat was not eating and being aggressive. I gave them ever specific instructions about the feeding. They did not follow the directions. They then proceeded to tell me to come fly back and pick up my cat for the next day. I explained that I was out of the country and she insisted I come get my cat. Really? I had to call many friends to see who can leave their work to pick up my cat. Not only was my cat not treated as promised by sales person. My cat collars were removed including her flea collar. Apparently is it policy. She got fleas from the cats next to her. So if you love your pet. I don't recommend you to use this place. The staff during pick up said that cats generally don't do well at this site they have to offer the service because they just can't take dogs. Maybe if you follow the agreed directions you would not have stressed out my cat. During pickup the cat case of cat food and personal belongings were not given and again I had to send someone to pick it up. I had different people come to care for my cat while I was away and they all say she is a sweet little girl. read more

Specifically for the Pet Hotel portion. I visited this location today at about 11:45 and they had LOST SOMEONES DOG. As I pulled into the lot I watched a dog run from the front doors chased by staff. The dog looked like a brown or brindle pit mix maybe and had no collar or lead on. I pulled into a parking spot close to them and parked, opened my car doors, and luckily she jumped in my car and I was able to get a lead on her and give it back to staff. The dog was TERRIFIED. I asked what had happened and someone said "she escaped from the hotel". Accidents happen but this is unacceptable for a pet hotel. I just wanted to post this so that people thinking about leaving their pets here are away, I will never leave my dog in their care. Absolutely ridiculous. I've been taking my dog here to be groomed for the past few months and usually the experience is okay. However, last time we came we noticed that they didn't do a very good job and they even missed a few of my dogs nails. I wasn't too upset at the time and wouldn't have written a review over that, even though I had to pay for a super unprofessional job. This morning I had a grooming appointment at 8 am and I waited outside at 7:55. The lady inside just kept staring at me and giving me dirty looks while checking her watch very obviously. After a few minutes she opened the door and just stared at me. After a bit I had to initiate the conversation and explained I had an appointment at 8 and she still maintained her rude composure. After a bit we figured out the automatic siding doors were open but you just have to push really hard. My puppy has a bit of anxiety but they said he did great! :) They suggested I bring in the rabies vaccine docs to have on file and that the a la cart services were a walking process and that I would not have to call for an appt. While I was waiting for my puppy to get his grooming services done, I was browsing the store as I normally buy toys and food from other stores so decided to browse around. As I began to return to the office a few days a week I started bringing my little Boogie to the Day Camp. He goes between 3 & 4 days a week. The first day I had to walk with him to the door. Now he practically takes off his own harness to get through the door. I even get a little jealous at his excitement. The staff has had challenges with COVID absences and turnover over the past year, but they do their best to inform everyone and be as accommodating as possible. We have been taking our dog here monthly for his cleaning and baths and have been satisfied with the services, especially from Paula. However, she recently left Petsmart for 'greener pastures'. After picking him up, our little 'boy' was itching all over by the time we got home. He smelled like he was not given a bath at all.....his smell and his fur felt like it was just masked with the Petsmart shampoo and was not really given proper bathing. This review is in regards to the boarding facility at Petsmart. We have had three terrible experiences there. The worst being our last and final visit. We recently went on vacation for one week and boarded both of our dogs there. When we came to pick them up they informed us that one of them was throwing up and having bowel issues. They did not provide and further detail on how often, how many days etc. Sure enough I had to rush my dog to the Er that same evening. He was hospitalized for two days due to dehydration and stress. The bag of food we provided to the boarding facility was 1/4 eaten between two dogs who normally eat perfectly fine. It should have been near empty. Both of my dogs have been potty trained since they were young yet their paws were covered in urine. How often are they letting them out? Aside from this, when I arrived they couldn't even locate either of my dogs. I waited for an awfully long time. In the end we paid nearly 900.00 for my dogs to receive less than quality care and 4200.00 to the vet er. If you care anything about your furry family members please avoid this place at all costs. My dog could have died from dehydration, starvation, vomiting and having diarrhea for several days. They should have called me to let me know so I could arrange to either come home or have our emergency contacts pick them up. It's a complete failure all the way around! When we picked him up, he looked so dirty and he was completely dry. He had hair on half of his body and some parts were very badly cut. This review is in response to Sierra W.'s review. Her review of Michele is not only unfair, but also not entirely true. Yes, Michele was late, but she apologized profusely. Michele has devoted her life to rescuing cats for 13 years and cares deeply about their well being. Not only does she hold adoptions every Saturday for her rescues, but she does TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) and feeds several colonies of stray/feral cats in Fremont and surrounding areas. Because of this, she is a valued member of the community. This is ALL volunteer work. She doesn't get paid to save lives, she does it out of the love she has for animals. If Sierra had been aware of that, maybe she would've understood why Michele was late. It's not an excuse, but it's worth taking into consideration. Instead, Sierra had a bad attitude during the entire adoption. While the vaccines were not dire, Michele felt it was only right that she take care of updating them, regardless. Sierra arrived on Saturday to her appointment to meet the cats, and after deciding to adopt two cats, they also decided they didn't want to take them home just yet. Why? I don't know. We ONLY hold appointments on Saturday, so Michele made an exception to come out on Monday to finalize the adoption. After returning from the vet with the cats, she arrived to an almost empty shopping cart. All they picked out for the cats was a very small scratching post, one bed (for two cats), and food. They didn't want to purchase toys as they said they had hand-me-downs from their grandma's cat. Cats do NOT like used cat toys/items. They didn't want to purchase any bowls or a tall cat tree. Cat trees are ESSENTIAL to an indoor cat's well-being. It was clear they didn't do any research prior to adopting. If Michele discriminated against people who are new to cats or relearning cats, she'd never adopt any cats out. What she is looking for is a family that is willing to learn as much as possible about their new family member. As a family who knows little to nothing about cats, one would think Sierra and her family would've been very open to suggestions from a cat expert. Maybe Sierra felt Michele was trying to force her and her family to purchase items on behalf of Petsmart. If she had asked, she would've known Michele is part of a non-profit organization that only rents the cages at Petsmart. She is in no way shape or form affiliated or receives money from Petsmart for the items purchased. On the contrary, a coupon book is provided and she makes sure ever single one is applied to maximize the adopter's savings. Michele simply wants the best for the cats and purchasing the essentials is REQUIRED. It is clearly stated in the questionnaire that items must be purchased PRIOR to or DURING adoption. Sierra filled out a questionnaire agreeing to do so. The fact that she refused to purchase anything for the cats reveals that she deceived Michele as it's clear she had no intention to spend money on them. It's also a cause for concern when an adopter is penny pinching as it shows that in the event that the cat becomes ill, they most likely couldn't afford to take them to the vet or wouldn't be willing to pay for their medical attention. The cart was not even close to $200 - they refused to purchase almost anything. Please be aware, adopting a pet is NOT cheap. Do not adopt if you're not ready for the financial responsiblity. The final straw was when they revealed the carriers they planned to transport them in. They were filthy and one of them was an old cardboard box. Finally, when they were asked where they planned to keep the cats, they had no idea. They hadn't even thought about it and she and her siblings just looked at one another, stumped by the question. One of her siblings was allergic to cats, which was also VERY concerning. What would happen if the boy decides the allergic reactions are unbearable? Altogether, Michele didn't believe Sierra and her family would be the best home for her cats, so based on her instincts and experience with adoptions, she refused to let them adopt the cats. It sounds to me like Sierra is simply upset because she didn't get her way. If she truly wanted the cats, she would've showed it and I'm sure Michele would've reconsidered her decision. Not once did she ask why they couldn't have the cats. Sierra also failed to disclose that Michele gave her $30 for gas. Her lying and unsavory attitude only reaffirms that the decision made was the right one. If you're going to write a review, make sure to tell the truth, not just the one that benefits you. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would! Go to Pawbabies in San Jose instead, that's where I take my dog but they were all booked up unfortunately. They called me an hour after I dropped him off that he was vicious and they were not able to blow dry him. Which I have never had a problem before with any other groomer). I paid for the Bath,brush, and furminator which includes full blow dry, with up to 20 minutes of brushing with the FURminator & undercoat tools as well as nail trim, ear cleaning, gland expression, paw pad trim to neaten the feet. And when they gave him to me, he was damp, paws were untrimmed, nails unclipped, but they claimed to have done the dental and ear clean up (i don't know how if they claim he was vicious) and when I said I would not pay for the full service they said they would not give me my dog unless I paid. All of the employees there and rude and don't care at all. While I went to the register to pay someone said they would blow dry him for 5 min (again how if they claim he was vicious). Never again! They shouldn't make you pay full price for something they did not do. I could of done what they did myself at home, now I have to finish him up at home myself! read more

As a first-time adoptive family, we are very pleased to share our five-star experience with the Feral Cats Foundation that arranges cat adoption at PetSmart Fremont. Dedicated staff member Ruth and Michelle of the Foundation are extraordinarily responsible and caring in their cooperation over this cat rescue mission. They put in their best efforts to match felines with our wishes, always bear the cats' interest in mind, and make sure that cats settle well in their new foster/adoptive homes. With zero experience in raising kittens, we were very fortunate to have had Michelle's guidance all the way. She first wanted to make sure the family and the environment of our household were ready to welcome a new feline member. She did not mind patiently going through all the details, explaining the reasonable demands of caring for pets, and answering our questions. We found her advice most helpful in alerting us to the expectations of adoption. Our family was super-excited meeting the feline candidates at PetSmart one October afternoon. Guess what? We were entrusted to care for not one kitten, but TWO adorable kittens: a Nebulung and a Tortoiseshell, both girls, well-bonded since birth. The Adoption Services seemed quite busy that day, but Michelle took the time to demonstrate such tasks as clipping nails and administering medicine using a syringe. The basic supplies that Michelle advised us to purchase matched what we had earlier researched on. Couldn't wait to bring the new members home, we did find it convenient to buy the supplies at PetSmart before heading home, but were never required or pressured to buy from them. Fast-forward to January. Paperwork was completed for formal adoption after the kittens had received the routine vaccines, spayed and neutered. Yet, even to this day, Michelle and Ruth have been quick to respond to our inquiries and messages any time during the day and night. Considering the fact that all formalities are done, they have every reason to leave us on our own. However, these two amazing heroes continue to take an interest in our kittens' well-being, and whenever necessary provide expert advice on any feline matters. They are a wonderful team that provides the much-needed reassurance when it comes to raising cats for the first time and before we try the vet. To them both, we and our kittens are more like friends and families than customers. Tremendously grateful for having added the inseparable kittens to our family, we would recommend PetSmart Fremont's services to anyone who is considering cat adoption. read more

This is for the grooming salon; I had my appointment at 9am for both of my dogs today usually it takes me 15-20 minutes to arrive but today it took me 40 minutes. We arrived 10 minutes late, two of the ladies started checking in my dogs Alicia D. the one that would be taking care of one of my dogs was there but working with another dog. Alicia then tells the other employee they have to charge me a late fee (mind you she wasn't even ready to take my dog back) the phone rings and the pick up so I am just there waiting. Meanwhile my dog is still waiting with the leash and getting anxious of just standing there she then says that would be all so I asked nicely if it could be waived because I was unaware they had a late and it doesn't mention it anywhere when booking so the girl checking the dog in said she let the groomer know. I get the call that they are ready, and received the bill online one of the girls didn't charge the "late fee" but Alicia D was charging $15 for express service add on I then call customer service and ask if they have a late fee and they say no 'THEY DONT HAVE A LATE FEE OR CANCELLATION FEE' I then explain what happened and what I could do They contact the manager and she takes off the fee but then proceeds to say that they do have a late fee and I told them what I had been told and that maybe they should let people know before hand and she tells me that be something good to bring up to corporate! read more

This is another review that I'm really bummed to have to write. We used to take our dog to Petco before close down. She had a groomer that she absolutely loved, and the groomer loved her. Petsmart and Petco really felt like the same thing so when it closed down I started taking her to Petsmart. Turns out they're not the same thing at all. This review is specifically for their grooming department. We've been taking to my dog to Petsmart for a couple years now. First of all, all the workers in the grooming section seem to be bored and irritated with their jobs. I'm not the kind of jerk customer that expects them to do a job is probably boring and have a smile about it, but just saying the people at Petco used to! My dog is always uneasy here as a result and we never really found her a single groomer to be like her person. But like I said that's really not my problem. I'm not really one that leaves my rights, so I came back and politely explained what happened. The manager was so nice, which is the only reason I'm giving them two stars instead of one. She apologized, give me a hand written coupon for 20% off my next grooming, and refunded me the amount I was charged for the extra flea bath. So, wasn't happy with the service but decided to come back again because I had the coupon and the credit. So I brought my dog back in this year and was extremely specific about how long I wanted her hair done. I came back to literally the exact same mistake as last year. Her hair is so long it's probably only been a month since we had her groomed. I'm not looking to get her groomed again, I'm taking her someplace else I don't care if it's far there are more expensive. This is ridiculous it's very simple to follow instructions and cut her hair to a half inch. Avoid this place at least for grooming. read more

I've been coming here for the last couple of years to have my chihuahua/terrier groomed every few weeks. If possibly, I try to request an appointment with Crystal. She has groomed Scoobie several times and knows that he is protective of his front paws and knows how to grind his nails in a way that he feels safe. Please do your pet a favor and stay away from Petsmart Fremont grooming salon. We used Petsmart Milpitas without any concerns but made a serious mistake of avoiding the reviews and get our havanese dog here. They released the dog after almost 5 hours, minutes before the closing time. We noticed that she barely got any haircut, as they just trimmed around her ears and sanitary trims. After we reached home, we notice a wound around her leg, which they never mentioned. I reached out to Petsmart survey with absolutely no response. These guys should be ashamed for earning by hurting an innocent animal that can't speak. Shame! read more

If I can rate them with ZERO stars, I would. Sorry it's lengthy, but hopefully you think twice before booking a grooming appointment with Petsmart. Go to a place that cares about your pet. We had scheduled an appointment for my dogs and only one of my dogs received service. When booking the appointment, it seems that there are multiple dogs booked for the same time frame. We were able to book them for the same time (9 AM - 12 pm). We were running late, I had called them to let them know. We arrived 12 mins after the scheduled time, and the staff told me that we will be charged the late fee the next time we book and show up 15 mins late. Then the receptionist began to talk to me in a different language, assuming I spoke that language. Once I told her I only speak English, she started rolling her eyes and had a negative vibe. I told them that one of my dogs have not been professionally groomed within the past 2 years of living with me (adopted from an animal shelter). She took both dogs to the back and said that they will be ready at 12 pm. About 40 mins after drop off, I received a call that one of my dogs have been stressed out, threw up in the kennel, and needed to be picked up immediately. My boyfriend and I rushed over to the location to pick them up and all they did was just handed us our dogs. No recommendations were made, all they told us was to pay for the one who received services and to reschedule the other appointment. We did a small inspection on our dogs and they didn't wipe the paws on the dog that threw up. The other dogs only got a sanitary trim, he didn't get washed or his nails trim. FOR $80 JUST TO TRIM HIM IS RIDICULOUS. After leaving, I called another pet salon, told them about my experience with Petsmart, and booked an appointment with them. They gave me knowledge on what their procedures are when they see signs of animals in distress and what options they will recommend. read more

This petsmart grooming messed up my dog I don't no what they did to him when he was getting a haircut and A bath but he has not been the same he's been hiding and shaking when he sees us he has never done that before they told us his hair was tangled and maided and had to be shaved off for him to get a bath I understander it can cause curtulation to stop but like when he sees us he is scared I would always come to this petsmart for food but never again for grooming read more

I went into Petsmart today and asked to purchase fish, I had called twice prior to going to see if I would be able to purchase 100 goldfish, the day I go in to purchase them I get attacked by a store leader by the name of Julie the fish had already been sold to me and she was giving me attitude the whole time I was there and she made my whole family feel harassed and unsafe. She was also judging me and telling other employees I was a liar in front of me. My children walked out of the store and said to me mommy what was wrong with that girl why did she have so much attitude. For my kids to notice an employee be so rude to us is not ok. All I was doing was getting fish for my kids. She also questioned me as if I didn't know how to care for the fish I asked to speak to a store manager and she still threatened me that she was going to let the store manager know about me. Am I suppose to expect the worse from the store manager now? I hope they change their attitude at this place I loved shopping here for my pets. read more

Mathew, the new groomer at this location, charged me an extra 10 dollars because my dog apparently was biting while getting blow-dried. I have not been charged anything like this in the past three years. Mathew's grooming is terrible--one ear is shorter than the other and uneven in many places. They kept him for 4 hours, and I had to call to pick him up. Once I called, I got the email and text message for pick up. They had forgotten about him. Bad experience overall. read more

Very unorganized grooming department. Cancelled my dog's grooming appointment twice within a span of 3 days, with not even a courtesy call the 2nd time. No solution offered other than pushing out the appointment with a reason that they were very busy and had double booked for the slot which was given to us. Manager was of no help and didn't try to find a solution other than expressing helplessness in spite of knowing they cancelled us twice due to their groomer availability issues. read more
