This review is more so to spread the word about New Beginnings Cat Rescue where you can adopt a cat on Saturdays from 12-4 rather than Petsmart itself. NBCR is separate organization that fosters/ offers cats for adoption that just partners with Petsmart to showcase some of the available cats. I was able to adopt my first cat here with great joy! Everyone was super helpful and friendly with every step of the process, providing all the needed information and helping me feel more confident about pet ownership. so went into buy a fish for my 55 gal tank that I bought from them, and the old man and his assistant asked me how many I had I told him 8 goldfish. He told me that was too many for that size tank and it was 20 gal per fish and he would not sell me a fish!!! ridiculous so that would be 2 and 3/4 fish in a 55 gal tank????. For those just getting into fish it is 1 gal per inch of fish it's a good rule of thumb. So, these guys are idiots, don't understand anything about the animals they sell. While looking at them I stepped in a massive piece of shit. Likely from an individual who brought their animal into the store for toys ect... I went up to the front and explained the mess and was handed a disinfectant spray and paper towels and told there was nothing else they could do. I liberally sprayed the shit. I didn't know I was going to receive a W2 for my labor. I cleaned the shit off the shoes I wanted to walk out with a cat in. I left my shoes at the front to be properly disposed of. I placed an online appointment for Allison P. for 6/30/24 at 1:30 pm. After picking up my dog and arriving home I noticed my dog was acting super uncomfortable with his bottom area. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the groomer nicked my dog's tail region, making it red, and causing irritation for him! While on the phone with Petsmart I checked my online account and come to find that the original person I booked the appointment with wasn't even the person who was suppose to take care of my dog today! It was another groomer name Katie K. I finally got in contact with someone and was told that the groomer is gone for the day and was connected with the manager. The whole time the manager was trying to make excuses of what may of happened and kept apologizing. The only actual thing she did was leave a future note stating that Allison will be the only one taking care of my dog. Like hello?!?! I'm not coming back here again after this, especially when I wasn't notified of the issue when I picked up my dog nor was I compensated for the groomer's mistake! Like were they expecting me not to find out???? I been using this grooming service from Petsmart for years now across 4 different dogs, but no more. They must be hiring anybody these days because my beautiful mainecoon was SHAVED without my permission. Mind you, she has no mats, she just needed a bath and sanitary shave. With the unapproved shave, they nicked her sensitive skin and is left with a uneven shave prone to infection and just horrifying to look at. The online booking process is self explanatory, and there is now the option to pay online. How convenient! (Don't forget to tip!!) I'm greeted as soon as I walk in. Go over paperwork and confirm the services my pup will have. They give you a phone call when finished. I really appreciate how Greg asked me what length I wanted my puppy groomed, and he showed me the different options when I wasn't sure. I'd also like to add that the other groomers seem gentle and the dogs are calm under their care every time I stop by. We recently moved and this is now our local PetSmart - NEVER going again. I took my sweet rescue puppy to socialize him and grab some dog food for our other three rescues, as well as supplies for my sugar gliders. The hamster and bird things are near the cats so we decided to say a POLITE hello - OBVIOUSLY not letting my PUPPY jump up on the glass, bark, or otherwise do things that might frighten cats. I love cats and wouldn't intentionally scare them just for kicks and giggles. The lady in the cat room SCREAMED at us for "trying to scare cats" as if raising her voice isn't even more frightening than a dog simply looking into the cat room. Yknow what would be even scarier? If my puppy doesn't get any experience with cats and kills one someday thinking it's a freaking snack. I legit left crying and still needing to stay over in the area to grab bedding and toys for my gliders. I'm sorry but if a cat is scared by an unobtrusive dog walking by then a PetSmart is an extremely cruel place to keep them, and if you hate dogs that much then YOU shouldn't be working at a PetSmart. We'll be driving the extra distance to go to our favorite location by Willow Bend Mall with the loveliest employees from here on out. This is the absolute worst vet clinic I've ever had to deal with. If they answer the phone, which they never do, you'll be put on hold for long periods of time. I had a 10 AM appointment and waited 40 minutes. My dog is 15 years old in the whole trip was traumatic for my dog. They always seem rushed and never have time to speak with you. Worst experience. Literally just went in to buy a few bones and toys. Asked an older women for help got completely ignored- whatever. I go to check out and that same women is the cashier. All the cages were extremely dirty, wheels were covered In a lot of poop, the robo Hmasters couldn't reach Their water bottle (way too high for them), all of the cages didnt have a lot of shavings, the wheels are way too small i watched them run and the wheel was so small they weren't Able to run! One of the cages didn't have any water left, i told a manager I believe and he said that someone will be coming out to fill the water, after 20min no one came and I left the store or I wouldnt have been nice! this is just sad and cruel! I have never seen anything like this ! Almost all of the water bottles were empty , the small dwarf hamsters couldn't even reach the water bottle because they were so high up . I've always taken my Yorkies to this PetSmart Salon with a regular stylist whom I've trusted for years. Last week when I booked them for grooming, I was notified that my stylist has left the company. I was saddened but went ahead with their grooming appointment. When I got them back, their cuts were not what I expected. I was in a hurry when I picked them up because the lobby was packed. It wasn't until I got home that my wife noticed that they still had quite a bit of hair left. They looked like they got a slight trim. I called PetSmart and spoke to Sarah who was very apologetic (she was actually the one who groomed them) and assured me that she could make things right. She scheduled them for the following day and Sarah did not disappoint! She said since it was her first time grooming them, she wasn't sure how short she could go. She had notes from the previous stylist but she was being cautious. I really appreciate Sarah for taking the time to do what's right. I commend her for her professionalism and courtesy. The wife and I were looking at upgrading our turtles tank when all of the sudden I felt a grumble in my tummy. I asked a very polite employee as to where I could find the restroom and headed that way. To my surprise PetSmart has great private restrooms. Toilet seat covers, quality TP and hand towels, and a full size changing table. The only down side is again, no music. There is also a nice pet daycare where they can care for your pets if you happen to leave out of town for some time. On the downside taking care of your pets can be somewhat expensive. Don't come here expecting to get a really cheap deal. This is the part where they differ from Walmart. If Old Yeller needs special attention, be prepared to pay and arm a leg, your immortal soul and a few tears for their items. Organization here is somewhat hectic as well, when demand gets high they tend to run dry on employees at the front. This isn't the place to always ask for assistance because you might not be able to get it with all of the items here you'd be better off searching for it alone. read more

The lady who set my account up was very nice & went into detail of everything & the gentleman who did the service was very sweet & took care of my girl, it was her first time anywhere outside of the vet so I was worried if she would freak too much, but all was well. Another reason for ratings is they require you to disable all add blockers on your browser before they will accept any product reviews. A girl took her dog to get groomed, and after she picked her dog back up, her eyes were red. She took her to the vet and said cause is by strangulation. This went viral and there's even pictures for proof. I wouldn't trust this place at all. I'm so glad we moved because my cat use to go here. I visited the PetSmart Grooming salon in Garland TX today. I called for curbside pickup since I'm immune suppressed. While I was waiting on someone to come get my dog, the manager, Bill, stepped outside and asked if I needed help. It was a little bit rainy outside and he informed me that they can't do curbside pickup for the salon during inclement weather. When I informed him that my immune system is suppressed, he immediately made an exception. The groomer came out to get my dog and did a quick check in and confirmed the services I had requested. The groomer, Haley was really sweet and helpful. When I picked up Reese they brought him out to me and he looked great. She did a fantastic job on his deshedding bath. I was reluctant to get him a bath during this pandemic. But I have to say that the precautions that PetSmart is taking are exceptional. Now I have a clean dog and my risk of exposure to the corona virus was minimal! Thank you to all the staff at the Garland location for making our visit top notch! read more

Last week, we went to this Petsmart location. We wanted to buy a fish tank, but we saw the package were damaged. I asked a lady that could you give me a new one, she said ok, but my friend told me that let her open it, if it was ok, we would take it because we did not want to make her tired to look for another one. When we checked out, my friend saw that there were something wrong with that fish tank, and we asked to get another one. There were another lady came who wore glasses, she looked like manager. She looked at the fish tank a lot like we brought to return. But we told her we didn't buy it yet, and could we get another one. She said :"ok, let me bring another one to you.", and we brought it to put back on shelf. After waiting 15 minutes at the counter , we saw her and ask her about another fish tank. She told us: "oh, i don't know. we just have this one." So we decided to go to another Petsmart to buy a fish tank, when we opened the package , it was totally different with the one at this location. I thought it was returned, and they put on shelf to sell it. One more thing, my friend asked the lady, who opened fish tank, that if we bought it and there is something wrong with this fish tank, could we return it. She said no, if there is something wrong with this fish tank, it is your fault. What kind of this service? It is so terrible. I needed to have both my dogs groomed before Christmas, and thought I was lucky to get an appointment for them both at this location. Boy, was I ever wrong! I had two appointments, one for each dog, a day apart. My first dog went on Monday, December 20 and developed a bad case of kennel cough (he was vaccinated prior to his visit, I guess this was a breakthrough case). We have been dealing with that for the past week now, and he seems miserable. So strike one for the "salon" for allowing unvaccinated animals into their facility. The next appointment was the following day, at noon. Apparently, they were so behind that I wasn't able to pick her up until 8:00 pm! That's unacceptable- she already has anxiety about being away from home. I'm not confident that they even bothered to comfort her or even check on her during that extremely long session. So, strike two for taking an unnecessarily long time to groom my pet. I get that it was close to the holidays and there are staffing issues everywhere, but I expect that when you make an appointment somewhere it should be honored. So strike three for overall incompetence and negligence in dealing with my pets. I'm disappointed that my dogs had such a lousy experience, and my poor fella has such a bad cough. If you can, avoid this place and try to find another groomer. read more

We took our little female Shih-Tzu to this Petsmart for grooming not too long ago. THEY. WERE... HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Not necessarily the job they did, because we'd used them in the past and they were usually satisfactory... it was the SERVICE!) We dropped her off and they treated us like we didn't have an appointment (which we did). The whole situation was weird and we decided to let their slightly rude attitudes slide as they looked busy. MY GF had to call THEM 4 hours after dropping our baby off and they reported that they were unable to groom her because "he" was being, and I quote, "Kennel Aggressive." .............. ... Ok, if you know our dog (you're welcome to meet her & see for yourself), she's the sweeeeeeeeeeeeetest little thing you've ever seen. I know everyone probably says that about their dog, but ours really, really is. She's shy, bashful, playful and super loving. We've never (literally NEVER) seen her get mean or angry or aggressive with any life form EVER in her life. Also, our dog is a SHE, not a he. We had to keep correcting them on this. . . We told them they must be mistaken, that our tiny sweet Shih-Tzu would never ever try to bite anyone or act the way they said she was. They proceeded to tell us (in a very rude way) that 'sorry,' supposedly 'he' was showing 'his' teeth & growling and we needed to come pick 'him' up. * TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, THEY WERE TREATING US & REFERRING TO HER IN RUUUUUUUUUDE WAYS! SERIOUSLY?!?!?! * - If she was being so aggressive since the get-go, why didn't they just call us after half an hour or an hour? Why wait till it was practically time to PICK HER UP to tell us this news? - The whole grooming process is supposed to take [at the longest] FOUR hours.... (Which was how long it had been before we called THEM finally. WTF?). - Is it possible they were so busy they didn't get around to grooming her & didn't know what else to do other than lie & blame it on her in the last minute? - The ACTUAL truth ended up being way crazier than we'd ever imagined................. After much phone debating (and speaking to the supervisor) we came & picked her un-groomed self up. Poor baby. Way to waste our time and make all of us feel like shht. The next day our dog had a vet appointment at the Banfield inside the same building (literally 5 feet away from the grooming department of the store) so we took her in to see the doc. We mentioned what happened to her (to the vet) while apologizing that our dog was smelly & unkempt, and to our surprise the vet told us that there was another Shih-Tzu admitted into grooming the previous day and it looked just like our baby. Apparently HE was very aggressive acting and barky/mean.... THEN, it all became clear to us. They CONFUSED our sweetheart girl with some other mean Shih-Tzu. Wow! Way to go, guys. Way to go. A store's general manager called me back the next day to vaguely apologize if there was a mix up but didn't offer any kind of other compensation other than "sorry." Man, we've never been so pissed/offened ever (especially my gf who loves that dog like it's her own child - literally). So yeah. AVOID THIS PLACE! It seems the care of the small animal department has severely declined lately. I noticed dirty, disgusting cages and pets that needed care. Apparently, this is a corporate rule to the managers- customers, stocking etc first and animal care LAST. This information from an employee 'off the record'. How awful of you, Petsmart!! Very upset that my Oranda goldfish past away just 8 days after purchase. I paid 34.99 plus tax. Not really the point. I asked the worker if the fish had ich the worker said no. I noticed he had some white on his fins .Igot him he was the only one they had left he was beautiful. I put him in my 55 gallon tank with two other gold fish now he has passed away and my other fish are sick. When I called to see what they could do refund me or get another fish they told me no . That there fish are never sold with ich it had to be my tank. I've had my tank for over two years and never had a problem. I'm upset that they could care less.
