We'd driven by this place a lot and had heard the good reviews so we decided to try it one night when The Tuckaway Tavern had a two hour wait. We were not disappointed. The host and waitress were funny and pleasant. The restaurant itself was clean and open with big windows. It seemed to forsake a "theme" and just featured large booths and a dessert case inside. We decided to try the roasted beet and caprese sandwich, the chipotle ham and pulled pork sandwich and the pear gorgonzola salad between us and all were excellent. The orange cake for dessert was only OK. The prices were average, but the menus dinner entrees were nothing inspired and cost an arm and a leg. This is obviously a breakfast place so the benefit of the doubt is with them since we were there late and we'll certainly be going back to try the early morning menu next time. All in all, it was only average with some solid choices, but nothing out of the ordinary. read more

Great breakfast place! The prices are a little higher than I think they should be, but the food is consistently very good. The only thing I would suggest is warming the popovers before serving and maybe switching the bacon that is currently used. They have a great selection of coffee drinks to choose from. Great for GLUTEN FREE!!!! My wife and kids are gluten free, and this place delivers. Just about everything from the menu can be made GF and they take it seriously. I really like their version of the Cuban sandwich and their Clam Chowder is really tasty (those two are not GF but the Cuban can be made GF). Their dessert options are plentiful. Many GF options including some amazing cake they had out for people to sample the other day. I highly recommend the macaroons. Also, it's nice that they have a bar area where my wife and I can enjoy a few drinks before stepping into the adjacent movie theater (also really great) for a date. Hey guys this place is great for what it is. It's a walk in, get some decent food for a decent price, and walk out establishment. This is a new shopping complex and I commend Popovers for branching out and trying something new. I've been here a few times now, and they seem to be getting a hang of the space and how things operate. This was my second visit to this location and it was consistent with the first - great lunch, AMAZING waitress and a dessert to ruin my "diet"! The tomato bisque is wonderful. So wonderful, I've ordered it twice and it's not because I'm boring! The pear and gorgonzola salad was fresh and delicious and the pears tasted like "Christmas". I'll definitely be ordering it again! The absolute best part of my visit to Popovers was having the same amazing waitress on both occasions. I believe her name was Christina or Christiana? I'm a complete jerk for not remembering. Super friendly, engaging, funny with perfect suggestions. LOVE HER. Nov 2016. What a unique restaurant! Out for a nice dinner with my in laws and now husband and had a great time. I had an appetizer for dinner. Pop over with big chicks of lobster. Really enjoyed this. Perfect amount and great size. Menu is very delicious all over from sandwiches to salads to yummy desserts. They also make their own desserts where there is a glass display right when you walk in. Didn't have room but will definitely try it next time. My sister and I frequent this location at least once a week, the food is always good but the service is 9 times out of 10, awful. The older servers are rude and give you the impression that your money isn't good here if you're under the age of 45, and that they assume you don't tip accordingly. We've had Kelly as our server multiple times and every time she drops our drinks she runs away immediately and doesn't come back until we call her over. She drops food and doesn't come back to check in on how things are, leaving us waiting until we ask for the check. The hostess at the door on 11/4/20 was incredibly rude as well. Popovers is new to the Epping area, but the idea of a "bakery-soup-salad-sandwich" joint is not so new. They offer a pretty tight, well rounded menu that has a little bit for everyone. That being said, it's a bit underwhelming. The food is well priced, and seems to be well made. The dishes are prepped fresh daily, and the soups are pretty good quality (tomato bisque is a staple here)...it's just boring...it's very very boring food. If you'd like a quick meal that warms you up, and a cocktail or beer before the movies, check them out. It's just....it's boring! It's not locally sourced ("fresh" grape tomatoes in January?!?), and it's just an old idea of a restaurant. There are better places in the area. Think of Me and Ollies or The Green Bean in Exeter. It's a restaurant that you can't lose at, you won't go home mad or disappointed. The service is fairly quick and attentive, and again it's well priced. You just won't leave going "wow!". All that being said, the popovers are good. So, at least they do their name justice. read more

Stopped for brunch after picking my daughter up from UNH. Wonderful cappuccino and a nice choice of both healthy and some decadent entrees to choose from, so everyone is happy. The service was very efficient and the restaurant is spotless. It is obviously a very well run establishment with strong attention to detail. I ordered a western omelet that was cooked properly so it was light and flavorful. My daughter enjoyed a delicious waffle and fresh fruit. Definitely worth a stop. I enjoyed my dining experience here with family. Food is a bit pricey but I didnt mind as the portions were large and the quality was very good. I've had the steak salad and LOVED it! Tomatoe soup tastes like canned spaghetti o's didnt care for that as much. Our waiter was entertaining and filled our orders perfectly. Bakery is DELICIOUS! Definitely try it out. We frequently eat at popovers for breakfast lunch and dinner, and while breakfast is okay-a friend who had the corn beef hash said it's the best he's ever had- I really prefer the lunch/ dinner items. They often have excellent specials, the portion sizes are great, and while they are a hair over priced, it's not like you are getting taken or anything, you'll just pay a dollar or two more an item. They have a great bar section- with inventive drinks and a few local brews. Their crab cakes are fantastic, served with an excellent aioli; you can't beat their pick two menu- fantastic choices. My favorite is the chowder or tomato soup coupled with their house salad/House dressing. It is a bakery too- so save room for desert! Their chocolate cake is heavenly. The service has been good most of the time- every once in a while we get someone who is perhaps overwhelmed if they're busy, or just having a bad day. But that isn't the norm. There is a a guy often there who I assume is a manager- you see him doing a bit of everything- and he is always very pleasant and makes a point to say hello and see how everything was. Went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with a friend. Ordered a salad and asked for feta instead of goat cheese. The salad came out with goat cheese. [I tried it, it was goat cheese. My friend tried it (she loves goat cheese AND feta) and said it was definitely goat cheese.] Couldn't find our server for 10 full minutes...then she came along to introduce our NEW server because her shift was ending. What?? Anyhow...I let both servers know the salad came out with goat cheese. The original server took it back to the kitchen and then promptly returned with it...plunked it down in front of me (hard!) and declared it to be feta. What??! It was squishy and most definitely goat cheese. So..she asked me what I wanted to do??? I simply said I couldn't eat it, I was sure it was goat cheese, so she took it back to the kitchen and brought me a salad with no cheese at all. I finally got my "correct" lunch 10 minutes after my friend had finished eating her lunch. No apology, no discount on bill. Very UNIMPRESSED, will not return. read more

First timer at Popovers, although my wife and her family have been there previously. Nice little place. Clean with a decent setup for dining and sport type of bar. Had cup of chowder with a half roast beef panini sandwich. Both the chowder and the sandwich were very good. The soup was hot, which isn't always the case, and the roast beef was extremely tender and tasty and plentiful. All four of us enjoyed our meals. A little slow on the service as they were busy and especially slow on getting the bill and getting the credit cards run. Will definitely go back back when I am in the area. read more

But the most valued and important part of a restaurant is the menu. I and the rest of my party totaled 6, we all were very disappointed at the poor menu. With a special diet request, and in absolutely no rush, we were told that french toast with almond milk could not be prepared "at this time". This location is very conveniently located right next door to the new movie theater. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the vegetarian options. The veggie stir fry with quinoa was very good and I really like their vinaigrette. Of course the popovers (upgrade to the large one) are delicious. One helpful hint...make a reservation. I had breakfast with a friend a few days ago. No problems with the wait staff, prices are in line with other restaurants. 2 concerns thought. I had the basic breakfast and was asked what side I would like, I choose ham. It was not a slice of ham, as most restaurants would serve, but 2 thin slices from a Boiled Ham that is used for sandwiches. 2nd concern, I know most people do not look around at their surroundings when the dine out. Adjacent to where we were sitting, there were 2 chairs, whose bottoms were falling off, and if you look up you see that the air circulating vents are dirty. I had the Rosebud..such decadence. Ive been here 2x & food was great. For those that love B/fast, its served all day. Atmosphere is low key..music isnt loud, nice vibe. Good place to bring your laptop & get some work done. There's only a couple of outlets for use, so I'd make sure your laptop is 100%. It does have 3 large screen TV's & it has a full service bar, which you can order at vs waiting in line. The Popovers are amazing..they make their own maple butter. Yum! We both tried a popover (a first for both of us) and really enjoyed them! We went to Popovers last night after seeing a movie at the O'Neill's cinema which is basically next door. It was about 9 PM. I've never been to a Popovers before. Ordering: When you enter the restaurant, you go straight ahead to two cash registers and order from a menu on the wall. You then choose a seat and wait for your food to be delivered to you. Ordering is difficult. The registers are right by the door and there's really not a lot of space when you're trying to read the menu. And there were very few in line when we got there -- I imagine trying to order during the meal time rush would be quite difficult. I was not expecting cafeteria style and would really rather have been waited on by a waiter or waitress. Decor: I liked the black and white European-themed photos on the wall. However I found the drop ceiling jarring and not in keeping with the overall theme. There was an unsuccessful attempt at a trendy chandelier which I really did not like. The bathrooms were nice. The entire restaurant was clean and bright. Food: I had the special, which was cider glazed pork with a potato pancake and fresh green beans. It was spectacular. The beans were fresh and crunchy, the pork was tender and falling apart, and the potato pancake was crisp and tasty. Hubby had the meatloaf with red potatoes and carrots. The vegetables were quite good. I had a bite of the meatloaf; the meat itself was tasty but I found the barbecue sauce on top very heavy and gloppy and there was just too much of it. Price: The food was somewhat pricey, especially given the cafeteria style ordering. Staff: A very nice group of servers and cashiers. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. This has to be the wife and i's favorite place to eat. We go here every time we get the chance. Friendly staff, awesome beer selection, and dessert selection, the food is unbelievable. I have yet to find something on the menu I dislike. I will take a page out of olive garden and say "when your here l, your family" if you haven't been before please stop by and check them out. Trust me when I say this you have to get the panko breaded chicken with capers! Outstanding this is my go to. Out of 10 I would give popovers 20. Everything about it is perfect in every way. read more
