This was my 1st and last time getting my puppy groomed at this PetSmart location, or any other location at that. When I picked him up, the only thing that was disclosed to me was that he didn't care for the naill grinder. 3 hours later when I get home, I noticed him licking his stomach area repeatedly. When I look, there was a flap of skin he was attempting to clean off. I can understand small nicks when grooming, but never something this severe! I am giving them a 1 star review, only because of the way they handled the situation when I called back. I give it one single star because they do groom our dog well. The only problem I have is every time we leave with our dog after his bath and haircut; he has fleas. We didn't go anywhere but straight home on BOTH occasions and I let the first one slide but we complained the second time around and LINDA THE MANAGER was absolutely condescending and rude. Take fucking responsibility and be accountable when your damn customers tell you that their dogs get fleas from your fucking grooming area. Don't say that my dog could've gotten it from the store itself when we didn't even go into the store. Groomers are cool but Linda, what the fuck? At least give us a courtesy flea bath or are you afraid that after the bath that our dog will still have fleas? Sheesh. read more

Made the mistake and took my pup here for a last minute groom because I had just returned from vacation and wanted to bring him home cut and cleaned after spending time with his furry friends. I usually take him to Belmont Shore Launder Pet (check them out, they're awesome!) As I always do, I explained that he has separation anxiety and does not like his nails cut but will put up with it. NOT ONCE have I had a groomer tell me that he was aggressive towards them when they attempted this process. Kayla, the woman who groomed him, claimed that he was. Not only did she say this, she also mentioned that he was "wiggly" throughout the process, which is understandable. When I arrived, Kayla presented me with my pups paper work and told me to go pay, while she got him from the back. Once I paid, I got to see that she did an AWFUL job. Never have I ever seen my dog groomed this poorly. Uneven everywhere, super close shave to his paws which are itching him uncontrollably now. She shaved the bridge of his nose, clipped his long beautiful lashes that are usually kept. It was a horrible job. I let the manager of the store, Judy, know about how I was unhappy about his cut and she gave me a full refund but was completely unfriendly about it after I had made my complaint. Happy I got my money back but now I have to spend money and take him back to Launder Pet to fix the hack job Kayla did. Moral of the story: Trust your instinct, be patient and wait for an appointment at your regular groomer rather than accepting a quick appointment at this PetSmart. Not to mention, my dog was shaking with nervousness for hours after this service, which puts fear into me that he was not treated properly. If you bring your pet here for grooming, do not let Kayla do it!!! read more

We've had Copper since New Year's Eve so we decided to have our dog groomed with just a trim and a bath at another location and it was not a good experience so we tried this location. Jessica was such a great groomer. She talked to us about how short we should do it for our dog since he is a pom mix so he has a double coat. We wanted it short enough for the heat and he was shedding excessively. Copper was nervous but when we came to get him, we could tell that he wasn't so scared of Jessica anymore and it takes him a while to get use to other people that isn't myself or my boyfriend. We were very appreciate of her services. And Jay was a great help as well with getting Jessica and just helping us with paperwork and contacting us to get our dog. I've been ripped off twice at this location. I bought 4 toys when they had a buy 2 toys get 1 free promotion. I ended up returning 2. But I asked if I could still get a free toy because at the end of the day, I bought 2 toys. It ended up being a long and complicated conversation because the manager and associate did not understand that I understood that I would be refunded the return price. To make the long(est) story short, I figured out that I should have brought ALL the toys back (even the toys I wanted to keep) so that they can return them all and complete a new transaction so that the "system" will allow me to get a free toy. Shout out to Judy for the WORST customer service ever. Never met such a rude lady in my life that works at Petsmart. Came here to drop off my dog for his grooming. Last time I came here for my dogs grooming they did a bad job, I called and told them-- they informed me they will discount his grooming and will update my chart. After a couple months passed, I wanted to try it again which is today. As I encountered Jay (the groomer) he was nice and was being helpful because he couldn't find the notes on my account, then Judy came in with her worst attitude and kept telling me I've never been here before. Like lady, how are you going to tell me where I've been and haven't been? She kept being rude about it and making me feel stupid. Lady, calm down. I don't need no discount anymore, all I wanted to know if it was still on my account. I ALSO found my receipt of when I came here to this location for a grooming and it's dated at this location and Judy kept insisting I've never been here. I hope you work on your people skills lady. I was very disappointed with the grooming service here... I usually take my fur baby to the Huntington location but I recently moved and thought I'd try out this new location. When I went to pick up my baby I was told he had "allergies/irritation" so she was unable to groom his Inguinal area..... but he actually had razor burn. I would have been more understanding if she had told me that directly but it upset me even more because she tried to blame it on "allergies." 1. My hasn't ever had a reaction to the oatmeal shampoo that has been used on him in the past & 2. I'm an RVT I know what razor burn looks like..... nice try though. He also didn't receive a bandanna, or a pet report card to show how he did/ how his groom went (I paid for the top dog plus which is supposed to include items such as these). Very disappointed with pet smart. I called to make an appt for my 1.5 yo husky. I asked for a nail trim a brush and a wash. My dog has a nerve disorder called myasthenia gravis. Which makes it hard for her to stand for long periods of time. When the pet smart groomers were told this we were promptly told that they are not able to accommodate dogs with special needs. Called to make an appointment for just a wash for my pups. First off if my dogs vaccines have expired you should tell the customer over the phone so i don't make the trip to come down there. Second off the manager and groomers were having a disagreement because they overbooked my dogs and apparently she was going to have to work overtime. If I could give them 0 stars I would. "Gen" or "Genesis" in the grooming department is extremely rude. The only reason I would bring my girls here is because of Jay. He did a great job and was always super friendly. Unfortunately, he no longer works here so my dog was scheduled with Genesis. Since the beginning she was extremely rude and stand-offish. She did not even greet me when I walked in. Then when I was discussing my dog's allergies and concerns of her being express (bc my dog doesn't do well in the cage), she seemed annoying and was arguing with me that she would be going into one regardless. Then why would I pay an express fee, for her to still be put in a cage? I have brought my dog here for 2 years & have never had this problem. I always stay in the area to come & get her when she's done to avoid the cage & now she is telling me otherwise. I did not like her attitude & I was certainly not comfortable leaving my dog in her hands. At the end, I said I will be rescheduling & she had the nerve to tell me that I will still be coming back to her because she is the only groomer there. Then guess what honey, I will not be coming back! This is not the only groomer in the area. All you dog parents, avoid Genesis to cut your dog's hair. Follow your gut and never leave your animals with someone that gives you bad vibes. You just never know what they might do especially if they are being rude to you. I am beyond frustrated with the Grooming section. I've never had a problem with them before. However, this year there has been a lot miscommunication on their part. I've been trying to get my dogs groomed since early September. In September I was told one of my dogs Rabies vaccinations was expired(not true). I brought proof, her Rabies vaccine is good until 2022. Today I brought my dogs in for Grooming and was told, I only asked for a bath. My dogs have not been groomed in months and look horrible. The lady (Lisa) Grooming section wanted argue with me about what I asked for. I spoke to the Assistant Mgr., while I received an apology from him, I didn't feel truly heard. I have taking my dogs to Petsmart for over 10 years. I have never received this sort of treatment. read more

Because I have heard that it's best to purchase in multiplies I called to asked how many they had before driving across town. I spoke with a manager by the name of iris who told me she could not tell me home many they had in store which is stupid. The grooming service at this PetSmart location is excellent. Originally, PetSmart flagged my dog as resistant to getting a nail grind, which meant he could only get them trimmed, never filed. However, Anna was willing to give it a shot and has always successfully filed his nails without any issue, even though he's in the system as trim only. When we walked in on a random day Jessica was also willing to give it a shot and successfully filed his nails without any issue. The grooming team is always courteous, kind, and willing to work with my sometimes difficult dog. The 3 star rating is due to their front desk staff. I'm appalled at the sales tactic one of the cashiers attempted on me to get me to enroll my dog in training. I've already gotten him trained at PetSmart, he just happens to hate being there because he associates it with getting his nails. This cashier had the audacity to insist I take him to their training because they're having a sale on their classes even if I've already had him trained there in the past. My dog is obedient. Yes he gets scared and wants to leave but don't push your classes on me and assume he needs it just because he's scared. And when I say "no", don't push your agenda even further. I know my dog and if I'm able to successfully recall him in the wild while he's running around off leash, I highly doubt any training class of yours can teach me or him anything of value. PetSmart, please teach your sales staff some common courtesy and proper etiquette when trying to push a sale. And keep in mind NO MEANS NO. I will continue to come to this store solely for the grooming staff, but I refuse to support inconsiderate and insensitive behavior from the rest of your staff. read more

The worst service and abuse of power. I had issues with grooming at another PetSmart location (picking up a damp dog, no nail cutting on another occasion, no pawgress report, loss of rabies recorders by employee not my actual groomer) so after making several complaints about this...I decided to come to Long Beach exchange PetSmart. What I found out upon trying to schedule my grooming appointment was there were notes from the previous store labeling my dog "dangerous", or in the red. These notes were retaliatory, slanderous, defamatory and untrue! From what corporate explained to me was if a dog is dangerous or a pet-parent then a mgr will come out and refuse service, notating the reason for the ban. However lower level employees and their co-workers (who are clicky friends) have access to leave such notes and will cooperate an unfactual story just to ban your pet or you from the store! When I asked why my dog was flagged "red" no one could explain the details- because there was no details to explain.... you can't explain a lie. I had never visited the groomer who cooperated a lie- Lisa never groomed my dog, I never even met this lady! You can't ban a customer or their dog because you dont like their personality, race, what they drive, or you want to help your co-workers out with a lie etc just to ban. Abuse of power and discrimination for sure as my dog is the nicest dog, so nice that he had worked with Seniors and Children through volunteer work. So labeling him as dangerous, is far reaching and a lie! No bite reports, NOTHING! Shame on the culture of Petsmart that even leaves room for this type of behavior and store culture. What happened to plain, good customer service? I spoke to the store mgr named Judy who offered an apology and was just as shocked about these notes and also explained the protocol of a ban to me. I appreciate her apology but I am uncomfortable to say the least. I attempted to by dog food tonight... and after Stephanie, typed in my phone number and decided to deal harshly with me, and refuse me service as she said, "I heard about you although I wasn't there". Personally booked my grooming appointment with Jay on September 1st for my schnoodle Angus right after he was groomed at the salon but someone at the grooming salon switched my appointment with Anna. No explanation given. Jay did an excellent service for my dog in August that's why I asked him to book my next month appointment. When I came to pick up Angus I noticed uneven trims in his legs and all over his body and his back area was not cut as short as I wanted it to be. The top of his head was cut too short where a fluff used to be. She wasn't even there to give me a grooming report which Jessica and Jay gave me in the past. Very unprofessional. The manager, Robert, asked Jay to even out the cut and he tried to fix it as best he can since Anna was not there to fix her mistakes. Whoever did that appointment switch please don't trick the customers with your switching tactics. There's a good reason why we book the appointments with certain groomers much like people make appointments with the same personal hairdressers all the time. Customers, if there's a particular groomer you like, make sure you are getting that person and don't let anyone at the salon do a magic switch with another groomer because they can without your knowledge. I am not happy with the cut my dog got from Anna but I booked my future appointment again with Jay because he always does a great job with my dog. read more
