When I got home, I removed a significant amount of loose undercoat hair myself. I spoke with the store manager, who refused a refund and only offered for me to bring my dog back. Beware of this grooming salon. I took my 9lb Yorkie to be groomed. He is 13 months old-so still a puppy! They have raised their price on a regular grooming by about $20. I called to check on him while he was there and they said he was moving around on the grooming table and he had some mats that was not aware of . When I picked him up I was charged an extra $10. for the Matt's and another extra $10. Because the groomer had to use a shorter leash to keep him still. He gets excited when he sees people and dogs. He loves r everyone!! I ended up paying $100. We have never had issues when he was groomed before. I also found out the groomers are paid on commission- so it behooves them to add on the charges. this is the first and last time i will be coming to this store, or any petsmart. i came in for some substrate for my crestie at home and walked around as i usually do in pet stores to say hello to all the animals, and then i come across this poor baby. i cried in the aisles before checking out. i'm FUMING. crested geckos do NOT drink out of bowls, and even if they did this one is far too large and far too deep for such a small reptile!!!! its literally decomposing in the water, right in front of everyone who walks by. probably been in there for a week or more! do these people even check on the animals they sell? it's clear the employees do not know how to care for reptiles (or any animal) now i get why animal activists all over the US deplore petsmart to such a high degree, i've seen it with my own eyes right here in Louisville. i will not be back, and if you're reading this i would turn around and go somewhere else. this is beyond unacceptable. read more

Pets smart grooming is TERRIBLE. A "miscommunication" turned into my dog being shaved and sliced behind her ear and neck. We were not told she was being shaved, we were also not told they sliced her neck good with the razor, instead had to find it on our own. The least they could have done was told me they cut her so i could treat it accordingly instead of her itching at and making it worse. My dog looks awful and is miserable, poor baby. Really wish I would have looked at Yelp prior to calling and visiting Pet Smart. I called and spoke to a groomer for 20 minutes. My babies are frightened to the core of nail clippings due to bad experiences, and I wanted to make sure that they were in good hands. When I asked if there was anything I needed to bring, they said no. However, upon arrival, I quickly found out that the lady was wrong. I needed rabies information. In addition, it needed to be yearly. This was not told to me over the phone. I would have booked an appointment with our holistic veterinarian had she told me this. However, time was of the essence and I only had an hour to do have their nails clipped. The ladies were timid and not confident in the situation. I was confused as to if they could or couldn't help me. I won't be back nor recommend them. They were holding down a dog who was nipping at them while trying to talk to me. Rather than finishing the conversation with me first, they decided to multitask. Not that professional. When it comes to pet supplies, even though there are quite a few options in town, PetSmart is the place we go. Since we got Dante (our male Sheltie) in 2008 (he's still with us!), PetSmart has been the supplier of just about everything having to do with our boy (and, subsequently, Miss Madison). We feed our Shelties a limited ingredient food. PetSmart has a large variety of limited ingredient options, and we switch up once in a while, but stay in the same brand family. (If you care for your pet you'll feed them decent food. For the love of all things pet-related, DO NOT feed your dog Ole Roy or some similar, cheap-ass dog food.) I think I counted 6 aisles of dog food at this location, as well a 2 or 3 other aisles of treats and snacks for your favorite four-legged friend. Along with that, they have all of the accessories you'll need for the canine of your choice, including flea/tick treatments, collars & leashes, bedding, booties, and toys. More feline-friendly than canine? They have just about as much stuff for the cats as they do dogs, so basically copy/paste the previous paragraph and add litter and litter boxes. Speaking of cats, they also have an adoption area where you can take home the cat the catches your attention -- or the cat the chooses you -- from any of one- to two-dozen that they have at any time. Frequently on weekends they'll host an adoption event and bring in even more. The options don't end with dogs and cats, supply items for aquariums, birds, lizards.... The staff here has always been helpful, and at one point one of the employees helped solve an issue with one of our dogs that our vet wasn't able to, so don't downplay experience over education. We had our boy at the vet 4 times and his problem persisted. This employee asked a couple of questions, said she thought he had acquired an allergy to chicken and to change up his food. Within three weeks he was all better. A number of PetSmart locations in the area have animal hospitals and day care available, which is a very convenient service if you're traveling or need to get out of town unexpectedly and your regular pet sitter isn't available. Add to that a grooming service and PetSmart is pretty much your one-stop shop for all the things that live in your house that have more then 2 legs...or...um...gills? read more

They always say hello to my pups and offer treats. Things are generally organized the same way in every PetSmart which makes it easy to find what you need. The prices on some items are high, but in general are about the same as any other store. There is a huge selection of dog food brands, treats and toys. This location offers dog training and there is a Banfield at this location too What I love the most is that at this location they have photo ops for your pets. We went here to get photos with Santa and it was great! My little dog was scared of Santa, but it made for a funny picture that I will cherish forever. We were very unhappy with the grooming dept. due to the poor customer service received. No one acknowledge us upon walking in the door or told us they would be with us in a few mins. The staff did not act friendly towards us or our dog. I would think if you work at a pet centered store you would give the animal some special attention or say something complimentary however these groomers were indifferent towards our boy. Also when checking out the cashier threw the dog treat on the floor when I asked if my dog could have one. Again, rude and not dog friendly in any way. The grooming salon looks clean, but the store was a bit messy (pictured). The fish tanks smelled like they needed cleaning. DO NOT HAVE YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE. They gave up about halfway through the groom because my dog was being too aggressive (which isn't like him at all). Judging by the bare skin spots that are now red and irritated, I'm assuming they borderline cut my dog with the clippers, resulting in him becoming restless and anxious. Generally, my experiences have been very positive. Although I think a lot of what is here is a bit pricey, you can wait until they figure out they can't sell it for that price and they will put those items on sale. Go after major holidays to pick up some really cute toys or dog clothing for the next year at discounted prices. They offer free photos for the major holidays that you can come in for and have your picture taken with your pets. This is also the only store I know that I can bring my pets to, which I really enjoy. They have a lot of cats that need to be adopted if you're looking to bring one into your home. They expect you to pick up your own dog poop but sometimes they don't restock the hand sanitizer, wipes, and bags. read more

If I could give 0 starts for this place I would. I mistakenly took my dog here TWICE to get groomed and both times they made my dog look terrible! I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has naturally longer hair. It is supposed to be longer but they get trimmed to keep the hair more manageable. The first time I took him they shaved him down to the skin, and didn't even cut his nails even though it was part of the package. They did, however, leave his tail long the way it's supposed to be. So his whole body was shaved but he had a really long tail. That looked horrible. Then the second time I took him, which was today, I made sure to be specific about how I wanted the cut, medium length, and mentioned there was a knot in his tail that needed brushing. They tried to argue with me that "most people get their dogs totally shaved when they come in". Well I had to respond by saying that wasn't what i wanted. When I picked him up his body looked fine but they completely SHAVED his tail hair off. So now his long beautiful tail looks like a skinny stick. These people do not know how to groom depending on breed. They just shave your dog to the skin and do whatever they want no matter what you request. Even though it clearly states on the back of the receipt that debit transactions will be given back in cash if it's within the 60 days. She even called the store manager who "agreed" with her choice. I stood in line, called corporate and am waiting for a call. How can you decide that I have to have a store credit when it clearly states otherwise on your receipts. I'll not shop there again. I am completely disappointed with the customer service we experience today, the line to check out was very long, only one register open, there were two young dark haired girls there as well but instead of opening a register to help out with the line they are slowly "cleaning out a cage" and I say it like that because the whole time they were just standing there together talking, laughing and overall just messing around;not actually working at all. So my boyfriend and I kept glancing at them in disbelief that they weren't willing to help out especially when we see that the poor cashier is working with only one arm due to the other one being broken, she was also and older lady so we felt even worse for her, So once they see us keep looking at them, the one girl started giving us dirty looks, when we finally get checked out and are leaving we looked back one more time and one of the girls is walking around doing nothing and gave us one more even nastier look, the disrespect to the customers and their older co worker was just disgusting. Took the puppy in for a free check up and to get a refill for his flea medication. The nurses and doctor were very polite and helpful with all the questions we had. They seemed very charismatic about their job and truly caring about our dog, Archie. When we left i went through the paperwork and it had a list of exams that were said to be completed that were not. Though she did check his heart, and ears she did not check his rectum, eyes, and mouth as it was stated. This kind of let me down, i don't know if she forgot or just was trying to save time. Horrible grooming services. I made an appt the day ahead and in only 24 hours they managed to get that time slot screwed up. Ordered the Defurminator bath and the Plus package for nail trimming and extra brushing for my pug. It took 4 hours before they finished and she was shedding worse when she came out then when I took her in. Bad enough the manager comp'd the entire thing bc he could see the ridiculous amount of hair on my boyfriend's shirt. Also, the nails on my dog's dew claws weren't trimmed but all the others were? And yes, trimming was needed. My biggest thing though was how unprofessional the groomer was though. Very quick to tell me that the Defurminator tool doesn't take away all the hair. Umm obviously, lady! But I think my expectations are very reasonably and yet she was trying to make me feel bad for them. Definitely will not go back to this location. They offer dog showers with towels, shampoos, conditioners and brushes. There is also a hair dryer. Each store offers vet care one day a week! We have been using the grooming salon for years, however the entire store has gone downhill in recent years. It is harder and harder to get an appointment, and once you book they usually have to call and reschedule for one reason or another. They do a great job once I can finally get my dog in for an appointment. However, my visit today was terrible. This was the third time my appointment was rescheduled. They did give me 30% off which made me happy. I am overall satisfied with the grooming salon. The store is a different story. When checking out my dog had an accident in the aisle. They make you clean it up yourself, which would be fine if they at least offered to help you. I was by myself, trying to control my dog, and trying to put my purse somewhere while cleaning up their floors. No sales people offered to help me. A customer behind me was the only one to offer any help at all. They did not even offer to hold my dog while I cleaned. Very, very poor customer service in my opinion. I go to Petsmart at least once a month because they're the only retailer in town that carries Precious Cat cat litter, which is the best in case you were wondering. I live in Old Louisville, so none of the locations are particularly convenient, but this is the one I frequent the most and while I never use their services (grooming or vet) I find the staff friendly and the selection reliable. I end up buying my cat food here too because once you join their perks program you get incredible discounts, especially if you can buy in bulk. Today I cashed in a $25 off $100 purchase coupon and I regularly enjoy their spend $30 get a $5 coupon incentive offers. Also I like that the staff seem happy to be working there and stay there. When I asked someone from the pet hospital she was quick to bad mouth the clinic and told me that they never show up on time and don't expect to hear from them if I call to make an appointment. Wish I would have followed my intuition before letting the groomer work on my dog. When I checked in, the groomer stated that my dog was aggressive (which she is not) and I corrected her that she has anxiety and needs 2 people to trim/grind her nails. She decided to take it upon herself to "teach" my 8 year old rescue how to not have anxiety while being groomed. Instead of following my instructions to have a second person assist with the trim, she decided to do it herself. She then decided that my dog needed a break and took her down off of the table. My dog thought that she was leaving and was even more upset when she was put back on the table. They then tried to put her in a cone causing her anxiety to skyrocket. At this point I advised them that she was done and they tried to give me a refund for only completing half her nails but honestly I just wanted to get her out of there and home. My 8 yr old Labradoodle had gone to PetSmart on Outer Loop a number of times. Every time I'd pick her up I would feel she wasn't really "CLEAN". Bending over to nuzzle her face it just didn't smell freshly washed. I would make a comment each time and it would be ignored i was begiinnig to feel it was just me. Also, Each time she seemed to get more and more upset as we entered. This was not the case at our previous groomer (who had moved away) I am rating the lowest BECAUSE I just found out they use AUTO WASH on our precious babies. For those of us who do not know what that is....google it. I was horrified by the videos. Google Auto Dog Wash or Clean Canines, automated Dog Washing, etc. All the results show poor little pets looking scared to death, scratching at the glass doors and barking to get out. I was told this by another groomer but didn't really believe it. Next time I went I very nicely voiced my concern about my pet not seeming very clean and asked if there was something else I could do. She said I COULD PAY EXTRA FOR A HAND WASH!! There you go. We won't be returning. Also the same people are never there for over 3 months. Most of the time you couldn't schedule online. And my charges for AUTOMATED wash was astronomical. In addition they want to charge extra for GRINDING Nails after they chop them up jagged. If I could give them no stars I would. Once I dropped off my dog, a small-medium size dog, for a summer cut. When after 2.5 hours, honestly I have no clue what they do.. just a bath and an honest clip... I get my TRAUMATIZED dog back. I get home and pet him over to calm him down as he was panting, and he had a 2 inch by half inch gash in the side of his neck. I IMMEDIATELY went back and demanded to speak to the manager and they offered me free vet care for the duration of his gash. I use them RARELY like twice a year, and each time I inspect him over. They don't care about your pet and are rude, and if your 15 minutes late they will not accept you. Which is BULLSHIT. I've had this happen more than once. Especially when in the summer I tried getting one in. Their vet care is pretty decent, they were able to get the proper medication from a very pricey vet that I had to go to for emergency care. read more
