To be perfectly honest, I have been coming here for a couple of months to get the pawdicure plus for my yorkie. That includes an ear cleaning, brushing of the teeth, paw shaving, nail grinding and you get a bandana with it. You do not need an appointment for this and if you call in advance to ask if it's okay to come in, you'll be on hold forever. The last time I went, they were low staffed so I understood but the attitude was big. Two girls were working on big dogs for over 30 minutes and they kept basically insulting the dogs saying "stand up! What do you do all day besides eat and sleep" or "ewww be careful he's drooling you don't know what he has" I honestly was about to record them. One has worked on my dog before and she's normally nice but the other worker is always full of attitude and nasty things to say. When it was my dogs turn another lady , who is new, came to do the nail grinding and she really messed up his one nail and he won't let us touch his paw because it hurts. When I asked her about the paw shaving she said I'd have to wait for the stylist but I was not about to let one of them say something about my dog so I took him and left. Again, I'm charged for the full service even if they don't do it or give you the bandana because it's busy and low staffed. Personally I'm never going back, I rather go somewhere else. We all have bad days but this lady is always having a bad day. I wish I remembered this one girls name because she's really the issue. If you don't like dogs than don't work there, you're standing and moving around but the dog is standing there doing nothing, tired and scared! read more

The good: -Melanie groomed my 5 month old golden doodle very good which I was happy about it. I specifically chose her because a lady I met at the park recommended her to me. -Place is clean -Staff was friendly The Bad: Appointment was for 3:00 pm, I was there on time. They told me to pick him up 4 hours later which seemed like a long time but I still left him there. When I came at 7:00 he was still not done... Grooming was finished around 8:40 pm and this was really not acceptable. They should have told me to come a little later if they could not start at 3:00 because thats what appointments are for. 5 hrs 40 minutes not close to 4 hours. I would have gladly came back a little later instead of leaving my puppy in a cage in the backroom.. read more

When I go here I see a groomer named Desia. Desia is a wonderful groom! She always remembers my dogs name and always treats him like her own. My dog can be a jerk but she always has patience with him. I was sad when I heard she left because I had to leave my dog with another groomer. The other groomers always look annoyed, unfriendly and not welcoming at all. They talk about their personal business in front of customers. It makes me nerves to leave my dog who already has anxiety. The last time I went in was just for a nail clipping. The groom was not busy and she let the dog washer clip his nails. She really clipped nothing and I was charged for it. Shouldn't the PROFESSIONAL groom do the grooming? Anyway, I found out Desia is coming back and I couldn't be happier! read more

The grooming is very amateur. I would not recommend that anyone take their dogs here. The haircut was very uneven and my dog still smells like a dog when it was done. I have been to other places that my dog came out of smelling good however this place it smells like they put a ton of perfume on without bathing him. read more

I brought me puppy here twice so far for puppy cuts and they were great! He came out so clean and smelling so great. He was just as happy when I picked him up as when I dropped him off so I know that the ladies there took great care of him. I will definitely be bringing him back here again. read more

I took Marco there to get his nails trimmed but ended up getting a bath package ! Arturo and the young lady were great ! I'm sorry I didn't get her name. I just took Marco someplace else weeks ago and paid more than twice the amount for the same services . I frequent pet smart for all of my needs ... I love this petsmart! My dog, Doug, and I have been going once a week since I got him as a puppy and the people that work there recognize him and absolutely fawn over him! I feel like they are a part of his growing up. The selection at this petsmart is not as extensive as i sometimes wish, but honestly the happy employees make up for it. I sometimes take Douglas there as a treat, even when we don't need anything, because the employees give him treats and hugs and I absolutely love seeing my dog make them so happy and vice versa! read more

They are the rudest people ever. I took my dog there and they said they would charge extra and we said we were completely fine with paying extra and then they call the next day and said they can't give a haircut to my dog because he makes so much noise. He's a dog, obviously he's going to make noise. Have you guys never worked with dogs, they make noise it's a common thing for them to do. We are regulars customers for them and after hearing this we will never go back they are so rude. How can you treat your customers like this. I don't think you guys have any sense about dogs because if you did you would have known dogs makes noises. Never go to their grooming place for dogs they have the worst service. I like this location. I don't normally come here but since I was nearby decided to step in. They have a great selection of dog supplies. I needed a new harness for my dog. He's little but loves chewing right through his harness. The staff was helpful with my questions and helped me pick the best one. It looks strong so we'll see how it holds up. This place has to have the worst grooming services in creation. I asked to have my dog slightly trimmed and for them NOT to cut her tail and what do they do... Cut Her Tail and shave her completely. I was very upset. Additionally, they cut her long haired ears to make her looks like a pug. She's a shih tzu. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I've all used PetSmart since having my puppy and groomers are nice up until recently I had only used Stephanie which is no longer with the company.I was introduced to Deja which has taken great care of my puppy it's a little commute getting here but I'm always satisfied with the care my pet is given. read more

Do not bring your dog here for grooming . I got a phone call that my puppy was peeing too much and I had to come pick him up. While they did not charge me he only got half a haircut and looks ridiculous. read more

I am so surprised to read all these terrible reviews, because I have had the exact opposite experience. My 3 year old English cocker spaniel, Sadie is extremely energetic and jumpy, and she has had many beautiful haircuts, by several different groomers here. The staff are all caring and efficient and I am truly happy with the services that I get here. I don't know how they get Sadie to sit still, but she always walks out looking and smelling good. read more

I get my dog groomed here and I would recommend asking for the groomer, Joey! He's very great with my dog and he always get what I want and exceeds what I expect. Others I've tried and they always get my dog's hair uneven. My dog's also nervous around people, but he's very gentle and friendly with her so I feel comfortable leaving her. He's also on point with time when I have to pick her up. So if you go to this Petsmart ask for Joey. read more

I have a beautiful shihtzu puppy, and I took him there for a puppy grooming. First, they told me to approximately give them 3 hours.. I took my puppy in at 12pm and figured they would be done by 3pm. I told them I would be back then to pick him up. They call me 54 minutes later saying that my puppy is ready. I quickly run there, only to find that someone went scissor happy on my puppy giving him a horrible, uneven, square, choppy haircut! Very disappointed and upset, I gave them a piece of mind. read more

We attended the beginner training course with our dog Ruby. Kimberlee Cruz was the instructor. She was firm, intelligent, and very savvy. She managed to teach and reinforce training techniques without using an abundance of treats. She was knowledgeable and gave us a lot of helpful tips on various dog related issues. Let me start off by saying that this is about Banfield and not about Petsmart itself. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My Golden Retriever started going here about two years ago and his vet at the time was Dr. Gross, who was absolutely wonderful. Dr. Gross moved to a different state, but we stayed with Petsmart. That was a terrible decision that my parents and I made with our dog. The vets that they have working here are completely incompetent and they are only focused on one thing, getting you to pay for a bunch of things that aren't necessary. In October, my dog was throwing up and we decided to take him in to get checked out. We were advised to go to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Forest Hills. That's another terrible place. They misdiagnosed my dog and were trying to get us to pay for surgery or put him to sleep. They kept saying that he would not make it more than a couple of days. We brought him home and decided to take a chance and guess what? He is perfectly fine. My dog was seeing Dr. Z and when we were trying to get an appointment for him to go in for a check up and get his annual shots, we were told that my dog is too old and that an appointment would not be necessary. Banfield, you have the worst vets, and the pet insurance is a total rip off. We decided to take my dog to a completely different vet, got his medical records from Banfield, and even some of the things that were on his records were incorrect. I would not recommend taking your pet here unless you want a bunch of useless people, who don't know what they're doing, to care for your pet. I am extremely disappointed and I have told all of my friends and family members to stop going here. read more

Was VERY happy with the service I got at this Petsmart location. I've been to other Petsmarts and they've been horrible, but this store just opened up and figured I'd give them a try again and I'm hooked. Took my dog for a grooming appointment where Stephanie and Melanie have been nothing but nice to both my dog and myself. The sales associates in the stores were also very helpful and nice. Keep up the GREAT work Petsmart New Hyde Park, I really hope the amiability is a permanent fixture in this place. read more

The staff members in this location are great. They always greet us with a smile and remember our pets and their names. Have had our dog groomed there, they did a fabulous job. Participated in the basic animal training with trainer Michelle it was great. I do a lot of online shopping with a pick up at this location that too has always worked out great. read more

my favorite pet store ever!! i am in here at least once a week with my dog Maggie to get new toys... it's a very clean pet store with very friendly workers. The people working the fish section are a great help as well and were able to give me tons of advice on starting my own Oscar tank. Love the variety in the toys and treats for both dogs and cats. prices are cheap as well!!! I love this petsmart - 1000x better than petco or any other pet supply store in the area. read more
