This is for the pet hotel I was really nervous about taking my dog there since he has never been at a hotel before. I booked a suite for him. He actually didn't do well. He didn't really eat and wouldn't poop. He didn't play with other dogs. But the staff was amazing and I just have to give credit to them. I was so scared he would just be locked in a room but since he wasn't doing well I can tell the staff really tried to make him feel as good as possible. When I called to check on him they sounded genuine with their concern and when he wouldn't poop they would actually walk him outside. One girl actually would spend time with him in the room just to show him love. I appreciate so much the care they gave my dog and If you must board your dog I highly recommend this place they actually care for your pet like their own. I have been boarding my dog for about 10 years now at pets mart and the service has been okay average. I had called two weeks to book a stay for my dog because we were going out of town. When I booked her stay the representative states that one of her vaccines was expired and if she was going to stay I needed to make sure she was vaccinated. I called many vets and all were booked except for one and I finally got he an appointment to get her expired vaccine. She got her vaccine on Friday and now it's Saturday the 30th and o go check her in for her appointment. The workers at fri t desk were very rude and when I provided proof of her vaccine they tell me it has to be 48 hours prior to check in so the dog doesn't have a reaction. First of all I'm leaving for my trip, second of all I'm telling you she never got reaction, third of all this dog has stayed here for 10 years make an exception I have to go to my trip and this dog has no where to go! The manager did t make the exception and they mentioned the website does state 48 hrs!!!! Who reads the stupid website. They could have made an exception and they chose not to!!! I can't wait to see you guys suffer the same dilemma that I had to suffer and for someone to tell u it's in fine print u didn't read it!!! This is why your business sucks because u do t think outside of the box and make good decisions based on history, based o. Proof it's just black and white for you guys and that is why you will one day soon be out of business by better companies because u dot evolve and think outside the box!!! This location has been nothing good, I'm a new puppy mommy, I researched this location made an appointment for grooming in person, when I arrived they said I didint have an appointment. Then I made another appointment on the app its been canceled more than 4 times already. When I was able to finally take my puppy in, after 2 hrs I dropped off my puppy she called saying she wasn't able to work on her. OMG nothing but headaches. So I went to pick her up, the staff there are not professional at all. They never know what there doing. They also charged me for trimming her nails and they were unable to trim them I had to go to the register to get my money back. Started taking my puppy to another groomer in Pacoima and she had no issues with my puppy, it also cost 50% less than PetSmart :) read more

So we just picked up my furbaby earlier today from the PetSmart Pethotel Northridge & when we reached home, we found bugs from her packed bag. We brought her own bowl only to be told they have to use their own so, ok, no biggie.. I just stored it back in her blue bag with her toys inside & handed it to the associate. Back to the story, I had to throw the entire bag away with the rest of her leftover food & other stuff in the trash as soon as I realized the 3 small "dirts" in the bowl are moving! Not sure what kind of insect exactly but they're living bugs! I called them right away and I spoke to 3different managers. I'm not the type to name names, but to that condescending & unapologetic manager who I spoke with on the phone who seemed to give Zero sh*ts about my explanation & just kept repeating, "I understand but we clean everyday, the inspector comes..., it's interesting cause it's the first time I heard about this, yadda yadda yadda.... ", Well mister, I clearly heard every word you said cause you're just repetitive. But did you really hear & understand MY side? I'm not pinpointing fingers & I know stuff happens. You can get busy, the bugs could be from another pet, from a merchandise etc.. idk! All I ask is for you to check where the blue bag was placed & make sure it's really clean and re-sanitize if needed. I don't know where those bugs crawled out from over there but I'm 110% sure there's not a single bug neither on her or in her stuff when we dropped her off at your hotel. It's def. not from our house. I only care about the welfare of the other doggies & their pawrents who pay thinking their fur babies' are safe & comfortable there while they're away. Mind you, we got her a "suite". Finally, there's a 3rd manager who called me who somehow showed care & sympathy. Five star to one star! Kim was amazing and my dog loved her. She had patience with all sorts of dogs. After she left- I have noticed that the groomers have less tolerance. The manager refused to provide service to my one and a half year old puppy because she stated it was safety issue and he was biting. I have never been refuse service at Petsmart until today. We've been bringing our dog here for a couple months for grooming. We recently had a grooming appointment with Astrid. We were running a few minutes late to the appointment. I tried calling the store numerous times but no luck getting through to anyone. When I finally got through Adriana answered the phone but put me on hold (didn't even give me time to speak just placed the call on hold). When we arrived and checked in, it was 15 minutes late into our appointment. We checked in and Adriana was extremely rude. She didn't even greet us. She said; are you the one that was on hold? I said yes, I tried to tell you I was running late but you automatically placed me on hold and didn't give me a chance to speak. She said that they couldn't see him because they closed at 4:30p. I asked to speak to the manager and he didn't seem to make things better. He asked his staff in front of us if they can see him but all the groomers said they were booked. My dog was going to have to wait regardless for a bath. They were not ready to take our dog when we arrived anyways. My dog was going to have to wait for a groomer. Very disappointed how Santiago handled the whole situation. He did not offer any other alternatives considering the time we spent to take him and drive back home with no service . Will not be coming back to this location. All the groomers seemed unhappy and overworked. Be aware! read more

This review is specifically for the Petsmart Hotel. I recently left both my cats here to be watched over before leaving for a short three-day vacation. I had a stressful and horrible experience with the manager Sarah. Right on my first day of landing at another state, I received a call from her letting me know I had to go pick up both of my cats because they were apparently not eating and using the bathroom. This was their first time staying at a pet hotel so of course, they were both timid and stress. This was already expected from them. I left detailed paperwork of their personalities and let the staff know that it may take them a day to adjust. They are both house cats and have never been taken outside so they were both not comfortable at the hotel. After few different phone calls between the day I landed and the next day, she didn't give me any other choice but to have them picked up, or else she said they would have to be taken to the vet. I declined several times and asked to please give them a little more time because I had no one to pick them up and also told her that I wouldn't be able to afford the vet fees. Although I was worried about their eating I knew that they would eventually do so. I know how my own cats are in new environments and I would know best. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my cats. This is an upsetting event because I had to have someone that came to vacation with me drive back and pick them up the next morning even though their behavior was lightening up. I even received a phone call that one of my cats had used the litterbox and ate some wet food. It was a waste of my aunt's time and mine completely. They did the exact same thing with my dog that I had left there months before. Again, shortly after leaving my dog for a day, a call was received from the Petsmart hotel that the dog needed to be picked up and she was taken to the vet just for them to tell them that she had her period. The vet visit wasn't cheap and for what? for them to assure nothing was wrong with my dog and was perfectly healthy. They had us pick her up as well the same day we left her. It seems to be a pattern of theirs to want to find something wrong and immediately have them taken to their vet for that extra cash flow. On top of this huge, frustrating, and highly stressful experience not once but twice, Sarah had the audacity to give my aunt a hard time with handing over my cats. She was soo rude and basically was being a huge pain. I cannot believe that they let a manager speak so low on a customer. She even laughed at her 14-year-old daughter, having her walk in and out of the hotel even giving her a hard time before my aunt even walked in. I would highly suggest any pet owner stay away from this location and save yourself time and money. Do not leave your pets here because I'm sure the manager Sarah would do this again. read more

I went in to this store for the first time today and was completely horrified by the state of the betta fish. They were in their standard little plastic containers but in every single one the water was absolutely filthy. They were so full of algae and scum I couldn't see through the clear plastic container. When I mentioned it to the cashier, she said that she would somebody know, but they should not have gotten to that state in the first place. Ive bought cat food here since I moved to Northridge but I noticed that once it gets hot outside their food spoils. I returned 12 cans to Woodland hills this year already and told them and have emailed the manager here last year about the problem as well but I guess it was never addressed since I tried buying wet food here again and it was noticeablly very grey/green color compared to the can I got for return at Woodland Hills. My fur baby, Miso, attends doggie day camp at this location at least twice a week. He's been with PetSmart doggie day camp since the beginning of the pandemic and it's safe to say their great care has made a positive impact on his behavior, socialization, and happiness. Though I know all the staff is great, I would specifically like to recognize Sara and Brittany (I apologize if I butchered the spelling). Miso and I were so relieved when we found out that they were moving over to this location from Canoga park. They made the transition so much easier for him. I can never thank them enough for the love and attention they give Miso every time he is there. My big boy is a handful, but they are so great with him and I can tell that they love him as if he were their own. Thank you guys so much for taking care of my good boy when I'm not able to! I give them this review because when I went to take my dog for grooming and they almost chocked my dog with there leash she said that it was just because he can't stop pulling himself but his eyes turned purple and they said that it normal and they were just saying that they are going to put the flea treatment and she was fighting because she saw my dog and said that he had fleas and so we just argued and we were so angry. Today was the LAST time I will patronize PetSmart! Here is why: This was the ONLY pet supply company at which we shopped. My little grand-dog went to obedience school there. Last week I made on-line appointments to groom both Jacques and a new rescue-dog, a Chihuahua. Instructions noted that I needed proof of rabies vaccination. When I took them in, staff refused to accept the proof for Fawnita, the Chihuahua. It was a receipt from the doctor. So, no grooming. Today I returned with the certificate for both. Fawnita was really nervous -- she had been through a lot -- and she pooed and peed. The manager said they wouldn't shampoo her and trim her claws because she had "health concerns." I told her to explain and she gave some convoluted answer that made zero sense -- except that it was "policy." When I asked to see their policy statement, she replied it wasn't their "policy" to provide it to customers. I said that I could accept their policy if I knew what it was. This was the second wasted trip after online and telephonic communication. I asked why I had to "guess" what their requirements were! No answer. I said that I had enough of their nonsense, that I was leaving, and wouldn't be back. I drove directly to C&C Pet Supplies in North Hills and was taken care of just fine. The doggies look great and I didn't have to make an appointment -- this time. I will in the future. And the groomer, JaiCee, was clearly warm and loving. Fawnita did well, too. read more

Adopting Sophia (cat) today. Naturally I would like to interact with her for more than 5 minutes before I take her home but was told by staff that there are not enough staff to give me more time with her. This is very unfortunate for cats who are trying to be adopted. PetSmart please provide more staffing to allow serious potential adopters more time to bond and visit with their future forever animal or I fear that cats are less likely to get adopted. Because Sophia is so sweet and showed me such a loving personality right away I am adopting her today. read more

So today my wife brought in my two Chihuahua mix dogs for grooming and to have their nails cut this morning. Mind you, these are the most docile dogs I've met. My wife arrives on time for our 1 PM appt. She is greeted by Donna, Aubrey, etc... First thing they tell her is that since one of my dogs apppointments is at 2 PM that the dog can not be here this early. My wife told them we are not checking him in yet, but going to take him for a walk for a bit. Next thing you know, they can't cut or bathe my first dog because they say he won't sit still. What kind of professional can't figure out how to calm a dog down since he's probably scared. So, we get a call to pick my first dog up with nothing done. Second dog. I receive a call at 3:30, an hour and a half after my dogs scheduled appt, to pick up my dog because they can't get him out of the kennel to start the grooming process. So you mean to tell me that you left my dog in a cage for just over 90 minutes while all the other dogs are screaming in there and then wonder why my dog is scared to come out of the cage!!!! They told me to come get my second dog right away... My wife gets there 10 minutes later and they have my dog on a leash as happy as ever with nothing done! I forgot something my wife told me. As she picked up my second dog with nothing done to him, the lady told my wife that if we paid $11.00 extra we could've had an express groom where they don't put them in a cage. Are you serious!! I think if you don't cage my dog for 90 minutes past his SCHEDULED Appt. he wouldn't have been so freaked out. A whole day wasted because of these incompetent employees here at PetSmart! Another unsatisfied customer who will NEVER return to any PetSmart EVER! UPDATE. NEXT DAY, Today we took our dogs to Puppy Palace in Granada Hills. The groomers told us that the dogs were perfect angels and didn't have trouble with either of them. I guess it's all about how you treat the pets and don't leave them caged like animals. read more

I have been taking my dog to PetSmart for about 7 years. I've taken him to multiple locations based off of where we have lived, in the valley and out of state. We recently moved closer to this location, and arrived 10-15 minutes prior to our grooming appt as usual to sign papers etc, and the lady stated that our appt isn't till 9am and we need to stand outside until that time. I have never heard of dogs let alone humans being told that they can't check in for their appts and start paperwork and to stand outside when it's 49 degrees outside. Disgusting service from this employee. I'll definitely be finding another location since it seems to be either an employee poorly trained in customer service or a poorly run location. read more

My review is for grooming. As far as I can tell, the normal store is run fine, although it tends to have less stock than Canoga Park, which is a bigger store. In late 2022, I was there to pick up my dog and while I was talking to the lady at the front desk, I saw another dog with a different groomer hang himself by stepping backwards off of the platform and the little neck noose they use to hold them still was tight and carrying all of his weight. There is no quick release, so she had to pull him up by the next to get the thing to come up and over the hook to release him. It was the most frightening thing I've ever seen in terms of dog care. Maybe this can happen anywhere - every single of of those nooses should have a quick release button, but it was scary and I never went to this location again. The staff already looked tired, overworked, and had the beat down attitudes that suggest poor management of the grooming dept. The Canoga Park location is always fully booked, which is why I tried this one, and now I know why this one always has openings: they are run like night and day. So, let's start with I understand businesses are doing their best now. I go to Petsmart at least once a week for my pet food. I was a loyal Petco shopper and after this experience I may go back. Went to this location - noticed straight up that they weren't wiping off the card machines or had any coverings. Every other Petsmart I've gone to has. When I asked if they were not doing it at this location, she said honestly she would if she "were not so busy," which is itself is hilarious. If it's busier then that would be the whole purpose of cleaning the card machine to AVOID all that spread. Truth is there was one customer behind me and that pace continued the whole time I was at that store. Bigger point - this inconsistency is why we have the numbers we do. I wish your business would get in the sane page. I'd like to enjoy this upcoming holiday season not cringe to go out cause of blunders like this. read more

Do not bring your pets here for grooming. I brought my dog in for a haircut and nail trim grooming etc. I pick him up four hours later, and I noticed my dog is Uncomfortable looking. I noticed within time he was unable to lay down and he was suffering some kind of pain in the rear area. Day two after the groomers still same behavior. My dog would cry and was very uncomfortable. Prior to leaving him with Petsmart I advised the lady do not cut the hairs in his private part very short because he tends to be scratching it a lot I specifically made that clear before I left my dog with them. It is obvious they Did not listen and shaved exactly where I said not to. We are on day four and my dog is still in pain because of the grooming. Very good employees and customer service, but.... I took my dog into the pet hotel this December 2018. My dog was there for a week and came home with kennel cough. Now my cat is wheezing too, and we will need to take her and my cat into the vet. My dog was given antibiotics by the vet office that is part of the PetSmart Northridge facility during her stay. This came with a cost of an additional $95, and to top it off she came home sick. I will not be trusting my pets to PetSmart in the future; as they did not provide a safe (pathogen free) environment. read more

Had a great experience at pet smart groomer. Before coming to petsmart, I went to Petco and they denied cutting my puppys hair because they said he was too uncontrollable. My puppy is friendly and I doubt he was acting in bad way for them not to be able to give him a cut. I called pet smart after the bad experience at Petco and they gave me the most convenient appointment. Got there and was welcomed by Juana the groomer and she did a fantastic job with my puppy, she said he did a great job and she gave him exactly what we asked for, I was happy and so was my puppy!
