Had literally the worst experience with any PetSmart at this location. Took our dogs in for grooming and they looked awful when they were finished! Such a disappointment considering we've had them groomed at a different PetSmart lo and they've always looked textbook perfect. Very disappointed by the quality of grooming. Then when we paid the bill the cashier didn't do the steps for us to get points applied to our account. And flippantly said oops call corporate. Needless to say we will never return to this location So a week later I finally get a manager on the phone. Their phone system is a nightmare and it really sets them up for failure. But once I finally got a human being we had a solid discussion and they have been fully refunded the cost of the two groomings. Now we just need to wait for their fur to grow long enough to get them groomed properly. So I'm amending this review because they really did their best to make the situation better. I want to start off by saying that I have been to this location on a couple of different occasions and all has gone well up until yesterday. Yesterday (4/20/24) I took my dog, Charlie, for a grooming appointment. He was a little anxious going in but he is usually is fine after I leave. His appointment was at 11:30 a.m. and at 2:00 Cassandra (who was the groomer for the appointment) called me and stated that they could no longer continue services as Charlie's nail got torn getting out of the kennel and now has an open wound. That they did take him to the Banfield, the vet onsite and that the nail would have to be clipped and would need pain meds BUT could not see him because I was not a patient there. I told Cassandra that this was unacceptable has THEY hurt my dog and as I understand mistakes happen, I do expect you to remedy the mistake you made as it has now put my dog in pain! She put me on a hold and went to talk to her manager and after a moment came back and said she would have to call me back. Cassandra then started being rude because obviously I am upset and wanted a call back ASAP as I needed to go to work. A half hour goes by and I finally get a phone call from the manager, Amber, who told me that they were taking Charlie to the emergency vet and would keep me updated through the whole thing. I did not get one single update on Charlie until he was done and back at PetSmart and ready for pick up. Unfortunately, my mother had to pick him as I was at work. When my mother arrived, amber was no where to be found to answer any questions we may have had from the vet visit and the people who were working had no answers and were also rude to my mother. And after all was said and done, after those 2 and a half hours, he ONLY GOT A BATH! You guys had no empathy for hurting my dog and acted nonchalant about the whole thing, like it happens all the time! I will never bring my fur baby back here and I will certainly be telling everyone I know not to come here! Cassandra, should NOT be handling dogs that clearly are to strong and will over power her. Wouldn't recommend this location for grooming. I booked an appt and was told that since my puppy was under 5 months he didn't need a rabies vaccine. When I showed up for the appt they said it was required. Thank God the Banfield representative was in on a Saturday and my pup got his rabies shot a few days prior. I was excited because this was his first groom. The groomer seemed very calm which put me at ease because he was only 4 months. When I arrived to pick him up his groomer was with another dog so she sent another person to the back to pick him up. They handed my pup to me and that was that. I wasn't given an report on how he did or anything. They didn't even give him a bandana. Customer service there sucks. I won't be bringing him back. read more

We have been taking our dog to Pet Smart for about 5 years for grooming and they do a really good job. We keep our dog on a schedule because she hair mats rather quickly if we don't. The people in the doggy salon have a good attitude and they all appear to like what they do. They promptly call us when our dog is ready and they call before each appointment...keeps us on schedule. A lot of the same staff work in the store and whenever I was looking for something they all seem to be more than happy to help me find it. We like Pet Smart and will keep shopping and grooming there. read more

Do not go here for dog grooming! To difficult for me to explain but I was told they may need to shave my dog but they would not touch her face. My final words were ok but I would like her left as long as possible. Had her face been left normal I would not be going through PTSD from what they did to my baby. This was the first time I took my 16-month-old puppy to get groomed at PetSmart Northville. She's been groomed before at other places and it didn't go so well so I was worried getting her groomed. I have to say I was very pleased. Sofia groomed my dog and did a wonderful job. I told her what I wanted and she explained exactly what she would do. My dog is sweet but stubborn and difficult at times getting groomed and bathed she's also scared of people she doesn't know. Sofia was so nice and was great with my dog. She even spent time giving me a report on how it went and how my dog reacted during certain parts of the grooming. I would definitely recommend PetSmart grooming services at Northville and take my dog back to them again. Hopefully Sofia will be there. read more

I love this locale. it's just roomy, spacious and well stocked. I am a sucker for visiting the kitties I cannot adopt and I like that they give local rescue organizations a chance to get some attention for their strays. I always seem to find just what I need here. Cat grass, fancy feast appetizers, fun feather toys (for my cat you pervs) even a cat shirt for when my vet made me dress the beast to stop him from cleaning an injury. Wet food, dry food, they stock every brand imaginable. Cat litter is available in ginormous proportions. It's a one stop shop for felines, dogs too I assume. I notice dog owners bringing their well behaved cuties but no one brings their cats. In my case it's because my little sweetie wants to kill all other creatures. Yeah, we are so proud. Regardless I don't think he could cope with quite so much sensory overload, it's a fun idea imagining him in the place though. Great prices, friendly employees and I always get some fun animal watching in. Win. read more

I had a new groomer last time who was very aggressive with a poor demeanor, however she did a good job so I gave her a second chance. The day before my appointment she called me, with the same poor attitude over vaccine paperwork that had been brought in many many times. There was no need to be so aggressive over this issue of the vaccines. not being in the computer. It's not her fault but it's also not mine. Manager could have cared less. Long story short, the store manager, Brandon is the rudest, most unprofessional manager you might deal with (and doesn't care about the customers). I've been taking my dog to be groomed here for 10 years now and I've been refused service because my dog is "high risk." My dog is 15 pounds and is no where near high risk. My groomer Steven has been cutting her for almost two years now, and never ONCE said a word to me about her being high risk. So, you tell me why that is? With all the horror stories you hear about petsmart having animals die in their care. I strongly suggest you go elsewhere. This location is horribly rude and don't deserve to be in business anymore. I went to this petsmart on the 8th of October so i could get a black moore fish and some more filters for my tanks. After the second day of having my fish which i was attached to and even named Princess Consuela Banana Hammock I noticed some white spots on her. I immediately did some research and it turns out she had ICK. There is no other fish in this tank so there's no way it could've been from any other fish. Just two days ago she died and because i'm mentally unstable I had a mental breakdown which aren't fun by the way. I expect better from PetSmart and will be going back to the store to complain and hopefully get a new fish for free. Thanks for reading and I thought i'd just warn the fish lovers out there to be careful when they purchase a fish from here and make sure you have some ICK treatment nearby. This location is probably like every other PetSmart location in terms of size and set up. They have a great selection of everything you could need for your fur babies. The staff is always extremely helpful and always remember my dogs name and just take time out to stop and pet him and offer him a treat. Our dog used to hate getting a bath so we took him here bc it would be easier for us. They've helped him to love baths and always listen to my requests and follow through. The absolute best and most amazing thing about this particular PetSmart location is hands down the pet training instructor Craig. He really pays attention to each dog as an individual and will tell you how to train your dog specifically. He always has time to answer any questions or concerns you have even after you have finished the course. Highly recommend taking the course from him. read more

The sales person even gave me free window clings to alert fire crews of pet in the house. The store also had a great selection of clearance and I got some new toys for less than $5 for all. I think in most if not all households, your dog is like a child... especially if you don't have children. So when I dropped off my golden retriever Pookey for a haircut, I did not expect him to come back bleeding from getting his skin shaved where there were mats around the ears. We have him groomed pretty consistently, and he's an indoor dog, so the matting wasn't bad. A week later, he started scratching at the scabs and started an infection with oozing pus coming out and irritating him. I then called our vet, who prescribed him antibiotics, and thankfully after buying him a cone to prevent scratching and wiping down the pus 3X a day with a warm cloth, and feeding him meds, he is finally healing. I also called PetSmart to inform them what they had done, and what really made me upset is that they started blaming ME for the mats - anyone who has a long haired dog knows how easily they get matting around the ears. They then went into corporate CYA mode by telling me that they didn't cut the skin, that blisters form under the mats when it gets "that bad" and he probably scratched at the blisters. I'm not blind. I can see they are blood scabs and not blisters, and really, you could've just apologized rather than demanding to see vet bills and blaming the dog owner. I can guarantee you I will NEVER take my dog to another PetSmart groomer. Their groomers are poorly trained and rush through the dogs, their management doesn't take responsibility, and the outcome is an horrific experience for a beloved pet. read more

I have two Pomeranians and I've only ever taken one to get a grooming service done at this petsmart. I took my oldest Pom in to get his nails trimmed when he was a puppy and I vowed to never let their "groomers" touch my dog again. The second nail in and he was yelping in pain because the lady cut it too short and he was bleeding. The lady tried to reassure me that it was "okay" and then tried to shuffle him into the back away from where I could see her. Umm no. People's pets are like children and they should respect that. You don't make a mistake like that then try and brush it under the rug and act like it's no big deal. With all of the other horror stories about their "groomers" I now know that I'm well advised to not take my dogs in there. I gave the store 3/5 stars because they are always well stocked and have an onsite vet clinic which can come in handy. I've had my dogs' blood work results sent there so I can get heart worm preventative if I need it in a hurry or in case I run out and can't get to the vet. There is also a really good selection of pretty much everything you need for your pet. read more

I took a golden retriever to be groomed and a nail trim and they cut his coat very unevenly and his nails were cut but are torn as if the nail clippers didn't do the job. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE FOR GROOMING!! This happened about a year ago, but I just saw an article about dogs dying from PetSmarts around the nation and it reminded me of what happened. I should have complained further than I did and escalated the situation and deeply regret that I didn't. I used to take all of my dogs here for years but quit when this happened. My one dog is a Pomeranian, so he requires constant grooming, usually every 2-3 weeks. I brought him in for his appointment and I was a few minutes early, my groomer wasn't there yet and didn't start until 12:30 this particular day. So they took my dog to the back and I was waiting for my groomer to get there because I had special instructions for her. As I'm standing there waiting, I noticed one of the other groomers cursing & yelling at a dog she was brushing, trying to get them to sit still. She was quite loud and aggressive about it which is what caught my attention. Then out of no where, I watched her take the brush and HIT THE DOG REPEATEDLY IN THE BACK WITH IT!! Her face was beet red, filled with anger and rage. As soon as she stopped, she realized I was standing there and tried to cover herself by saying to one of the other groomers, "they brought this dog in so matted, I'm going to have to have a talk with them!" What was odd about that statement too, the dog she was grooming looked as if he had just been freshly cut and washed, like she was just finishing him up. Just then, MY groomer (Angelina) walked thru the front door. She came in and saw the look on my face and asked what was wrong.. I asked her to go get my dog from the back immediately. She came back with him and I took her outside of the grooming area and told her what I had just witnessed. She was just as horrified as I was. She immediately took me to a manager and I told them what happened. The manager first said she couldn't believe one of their groomers would do that since it's an open area with windows that anyone could see through. I then pointed out to her that this particular groomer was in the very back of the pet salon and her window happened to be covered with a large promotional window decal. The manager left me in the office and came back after a few minutes and said their cameras were down, so they couldn't review the camera.. isn't that convenient? She then went on to make excuses for the groomer and said that she was terribly ill that day and couldn't call in sick because she was jammed with appointments.. I was so pissed off and sick to my stomach, I just wanted to get my dog out of that building and get him home by this point. My groomer completely understood and said she wouldn't feel comfortable leaving her dog there either after seeing that. I don't think my groomer in a million years would ever do that to any of my dogs, by the way. My dogs loved Angelina and we still haven't found another groomer that was as good as her either... But I don't trust leaving my pets in a building with a psycho like that on the loose or a manager that normalizes situations like this. I only wish I had waited there for the owner of that poor dog so they could know what a monster that woman is they were trusting to leave their fur baby with. read more

Staff was beyond rude and actually snipped at me for being 6 min late. She then tells me I need vaccine proof which they already had from prior visit (wasnt thrilled w service then either) and turned away my dog. Completely rude and unprofessional thru the WHOLE 5 min nightmare of me trying to drop my dog off for a bath. I called manager after I left- nothing came out of it!! Shame on the manager also. About 4 weeks ago I came in so excited, hoping to get a hamster. Well I got the hamster and she was the sweetest thing ever, so little, so cute. Just a lil baby. And last night I had to find her dead curled up in a ball in the corner where she usually sleeps. I'm so disappointed and absolutely heartbroken. It seems as though she had a cardiomyopathy. I have been going to a groomer at PetSmart for the past 10 years, but after this weeks experience, we will never go back. I made an appointment 6 weeks ago for our two golden retrievers and showed up at the 8:00 appointment time only to be told the groomer they see has been on leave for the past 3 weeks and they don't have any appointments for my two dogs on the schedule. So basically I am SOL. I asked to speak to the manager Brandon and explained to him that I talked to the groomer directly 5 weeks ago and she made the two appointments for 8:00 and 9:00am respectively. I called way in advance and bring our dogs in every 5 weeks for grooming. He basically called me a liar since they were not on HIS books and since the groomer went on medical leave 3 weeks prior he couldn't talk to her. I asked if there was anything he could do since I was only in town for a few days and this was one of the key appointments. He said no they are all booked and said again that there was nothing on HIS books. We pay $185 dollars for the two dogs baths and tip $40 and I was appalled how I was treated and basically called a liar. I am done with petsmart and have found a new groomer in Plymouth for less cost and great customer service. Brandon should be fired-he has no customer service what so ever. Petsmart is only good for the supplies but I will never get an animal from here. Everytime I come here I always see dead fish. Lately I have been coming in and seeing this crested gecko slowly dying and they don't care enough to help the poor creature. I like this location although it's not my normal stop. Clean and spacious, they carry the brand of cat and dog food that I need for my pets. We purchase Organix brand grain free for the dog and Wellness Kitten for the new cat. Pretty much anything you need for your average pet, you'll find. Collars, leashes, toys, grooming supplies, and so on. read more

Well let's just say we learned our lesson the hard way. Took our 6 month old mini bernedoodle here the other day for her first haircut and we're surprised with a $100 bill after the cut. She weighs 24 pounds at the moment and they said since bernedoodle was not an option in their system they had to charge us for a full bernese mountain dog cut (although she is only 25% mountain dog and 75% poodle). So I politely asked Can't they charge us the $60 cut for a whoodle which is what her cousin gets charged for (same fur but she weighs 35 pounds) and they said nope nothing we can do. After a quick post on the doodles Michigan Facebook page we found out that there are plenty of Mom and pop groomers in the area that charge a maximum of $60 for our type of dog and that's when they are full grown. So we will never be back to petsmart for anything and I strongly encourage everyone to shop local and stay away because odds are there is a local groomer who will do a lot better job for half the price. read more
