    Dakota, the dog whisperer
    Lesly A.

Dog training by Dakota! Highly recommend. Dakota is ultimately the dog whisperer. No matter what your challenges are with your dog, sign up for the correct training and get Dakota's advice. Very helpful as to protocol, tasks, treats, commands...

I have been consistently taking my two dogs for grooming to this location for about 2 years. It's the most affordable I can find since I have two dogs whose hair grows very quickly and ideally they need cuts every 2-3 months. They are always done perfectly and look so nice! This time Ashley did both of them and I couldn't be happier. They are very active little guys and having them cut so short helps us to go longer between grooming and they stay cleaner. Thank you Ashley! I'll post a before and after :)

I made an appointment yesterday for today. I was kinda shocked I was able to find availability with such late notice, especially on a holiday! I checked reviews to see who people recommend to book with & was excited to see that Ashley had some amazing reviews and she had availability! Ashley did such a great job on my poodle! She was friendly and very quick. The salon is small, but has always been clean when I've come into this location. Definitely recommend booking a grooming appointment with Ashley!

I took my frenchie Meatball today for a grooming and Ella was able to squeeze my appointment in last minute. He came back smelling so clean, she was a doll very sweet. Thanks again ;) blessings

Dakota is an amazing trainer. When we were considering getting a puppy, we hadn't decided on where we would train them, but while in the store, we met Dakota and immediately signed up for the full series of classes. We sensed then that she would be really good and she has surpassed all expectations. The attentiveness she gives to our girls and the care she puts in as well as her natural ability to work with dogs is just outstanding. Other students commented similarly to us that we would love to have Dakota train our pups full time. My pups listen best when I mimic the "Dakota voice!" She's super fun to work with and is such a wonderful trainer. Feel like we truly lucked out! We also have taken our girls to grooming here and Ashley P has been super awesome. Our first visit the pups were only 5 months old and we just did an intro to grooming session. We didn't know what to expect but our girls did so well! We brought them back at 6 months for a full grooming and Ashley did great work with them. So happy with the services. Love that we can come here and see familiar faces! Thanks for everything.

I wanted to write this review to share my experience. Rosemary is a woman that is usually there when I go to check out. Rosemary is efficient, knows her product! The store is large and the isles can be overwhelming. Rosemary has always guided me to where my products is located! I have often asked her opinion & guidance on how to use/apply my purchase..and this last time suggested I watch a youtube to further instruct me. Having a "seasoned" person being the 1st person I come in contact with has led me to revisiting this store over any other pet store in the area.

Friendly staff. Usually only one cashier but it tends to be fine. Great store and always clean.

This place was a literal lifesaver for us: the staff once noticed Bams was lethargic with faint yellow gums--a detail so subtle that even Bams vet was impressed they caught it. It turned out to be mild jaundice, which proves that Carlene and her team are true professionals who deeply understand canine health. The front desk experience is always a highlight of our day. The staff--Gabs, Kayla, Daniela, and Enrique--are incredibly sweet, soft-spoken, and remarkably easy to talk to, even during those 6 am drop-offs. Being greeted by Kayla's pup, Yogi, or Carlene's pup, Poppy or Ingrid's pup is truly the best way to start the morning. They're such a joy; all they ever ask for is a little love and some well-deserved tummy scratches! The service is so thoughtful; they know Bams loves fetch but also ensure she gets her necessary quiet breaks after meals. Whether I'm at work or traveling internationally, I have total peace of mind thanks to the multi-angle webcam app and the heartwarming photo updates they send. Boarding is seamless (pro tip: label your food bags!), and the Paw Partner app makes booking a breeze. I also have to shout out Jessica from Snips and Snuggles--she is the sweetest groomer and always leaves Bams looking like a princess in her festive bandanas. A massive thank you to Carlene and the entire hardworking team-- Kayla, Gabs, Daniela, Enrique, Connor, Tim, and Ingrid (and anyone I missed!)--for the 14-hour days you pull to care for our furry family members. We appreciate and love you!

We watched tons and tons of videos and things got slightly better but we really didn't see much behavior change until we worked with Andres. It's not that information online was good enough, it was that we didn't understand how to best execute the information. We also didn't know what information was good and what was garbage. Having Andres in our corner was truly helpful. He would answer any questions we had and I enjoyed his teaching style and his ability to breakdown concepts to us. He also genuinely loves the dogs he trains which made us feel comfortable leaving Daisy with him when she did board and train for a few weeks. Thanks for every Andres!

She was healthy, fully vaccinated, and entered the program for leash control and mild resource guarding--especially important since I have a young nephew and a senior Great Dane at home. I asked multiple times to see her living space but was told no, as it would "disrupt other dogs"--something I now deeply regret accepting. Midway through training, my Great Dane was diagnosed with bone cancer. I called to stress the importance of Athena's continued progress. A trainer suggested extending her program, which I considered, but ultimately declined. I wanted her home while my Dane was still strong. On June 11, days before her return, I dropped off food and was told training had slowed because the trainer "assumed" I was extending--something I never confirmed. Then on June 15, I received a text saying she had mild nasal discharge and would see a vet. By 4:00 PM, I was called by that vet: Athena had a 106°F fever and was in critical conditionwith suspected pneumonia. I found her barely breathing, still wearing a prong collar, and rushed her to the ER. She required oxygen sewn into her nostrils, IV fluids, and overnight emergency care totaling $7,500. Vets confirmed pneumonia typically incubates over 2-14 days, meaning she was likely sick long before staff noticed. I was later told there had been an increase in kennel cough cases at the facility--yet I was never informed. No one at Specialty Dog Training has taken responsibility--financially or emotionally. I was left with: * A dog who nearly died * A traumatized animal with worsened behavioral issues * Thousands in emergency bills * A sick dog I had to isolate from my terminally ill Great Dane * And zero visible results from the training I paid for This experience was devastating, both emotionally and financially. Specialty Dog Training failed my dog, failed my trust, and offered no support or resolution in return. I strongly caution others to think twice before enrolling a pet in their care.

We've had no out-of-control barking incidents; he can be tethered and remain quiet. He's very good on walks, moving from "heel" to "break" and back to "heel" again. He's very responsive to the "off" command, which we use primarily to keep him off the furniture and out of the kitchen. Last week we had friends over for dinner and after his initial excitement he was a good boy, lying nearby content and chewing on a bone. We even attended the Humane Society Walk for Animals at Kit Carson Park, and with hundreds of dogs and people and non-stop activities, he was again a very well-behaved boy. We are so appreciative of the work that Michelle did with Monty. He is now the dog we always hoped he would be - happy, well-behaved, and living his best life!
