Once again, they didn't follow my specific instructions! I always ask for NO EXTRA PERFUME to be sprayed on my dog, yet they do it almost every time! Also, I specifically ask them to call MY CELL PHONE, not my wife's, when our dog is ready. They ALWAYS CALL MY WIFE! It was especially upsetting this time because my wife gets migraine headaches from strong perfume scents and I didn't want her bothered as she was resting, recovering from a surgical procedure. It took them 5 hours to get my Golden Retriever done, partly because 'she didn't like the dryers this time' (never had a problem before) and apparently, as I was told, one of the groomers working on her 'walked out', family emergency or something maybe?? For this reason I was given a 20% discount which was appreciated. Anyway, I would suggest using them, just plead with them to follow any special instructions you may have, if any, and make them write it down on the form you sign. They don't take care for the displays, water is cloudy...likely due to having to treat for disease. I purchased several fish for my 54 gallon aquarium and had to treat my entire tank for disease. Took our dog their for her first shampoo. went to pick her up a few hours later and was told she was not ready but shampoo was complete but she was not dry because she was afraid of hair dryer. I went ahead and told them to bring her out and when that person brought my dog I was told a different story. Her head was damp so I took her home to dry her out. Now the problem! About a week later she started shaking her head and poking at her ear. Took her to the vet where it was discovered she had an ear infection. Vet bill, $175. **5 Star Store, 1 Star Salon** Love PetSmart, will continue to shop here as I have for years. HOWEVER, I would give a 1-star review to their salon. I took my 2 dogs in this morning for appointments. One of them, due completely to my own fault, missed his appointment by a half-hour, as I made it for 7:30 am when I thought it was a 1:30. The response of the groomers present, however, was frustrating. After conversing between themselves, I was *told*, not asked, when he would be rescheduled for. Furthermore, the dog I dropped off is a senior dog. After signing she was healthy and handing her off, I asked how late they were open for pickup, telling them I got off work at 6. Again, I was *told* I had to pick her up earlier than then, as she is a "stressed" senior dog and they will be very busy. The fact that they were going to "have lots of dogs in and out" and that they "were booked up" was mentioned several times. I picked her up on my, albeit late, lunch break. (As a teacher my schedule has no wiggle room.) They had called me 5 times by 1:00 p.m. Upon my arrival, as I was waiting, they informed me she was "very stressed and yappy" and told me they'd been waiting for me to pick her up. I apologized, though my explanation that she is yappy any time she is in a kennel didn't lessen the chastising I received. I was then sternly told she would have to be "Express" groomed in the future and I would have to wait in store so she doesn't get so stressed and nothing happens to her. I understand she is a senior dog, but they should only be "Express" once they're senior if this is such an issue. When she trotted out to me she was barely panting, and seemed completely fine. Perhaps she chilled out the second they left the kennel. The moment we left the store, she peed all over the pavement, leading me to wonder if she'd been allowed out for potty time. Also worth mentioning: the dog I rescheduled for will not be back. They have only one groomer who will work on dogs of his weight (60 lbs), and she was the rude woman who met me this morning. We won't be back. I can find a much better groomer who actually cares about my dog for this much money. read more

To be honest, I typically do not like Petsmart. I have always been a die hard Petco fan because their stores are usually cleaner, better stocked and overall simply more attractive. But when the ma asks if I want to go touch some animals, I will certainly not turn it down. Good thing I went!! There was a sweet black pup for us to pet as soon as we walked in. And Nick the super nice helper let us go into a secret room and we touched every single pet in there!!!!! I held a few rats and a guinea pig! Usually those suckers are too much of assholes to even let you pet them and I pet all the brothers AND held the one guy. He was awfully sweet and didnt even squeak at me. My pups were long overdue for grooming and were looking a bit on the scraggly side so I called up Petsmart to make an appt. with my regular groomer. She was all booked for the day I wanted and then leaving for a long vacation so I decided to take a chance on someone new. I avoid trying new dog groomers just like I avoid going to new hair dressers but fortunately, this experience turned out fantastic! The person who answered the phone was very sweet and I asked her to recommend the best groomer for Yorkies - she recommend "Ashley". Let me tell you, this girl knows her stuff! I asked her to do a totally different cut on my little male pup and he looks like a different dog! He wasn't bad before but now he's just so adorable looking that I can't stop marvelling at how great he looks! His sister (the "Princess"), is starting to get jealous at all the attention he's getting. As for my other Yorkie, she looks fantastic as well! Her coat was trimmed beautifully and her face was trimmed up very nicely and she looks as regal as ever. While I was picking up my dogs, another customer was waiting on her Yorkie to finish getting groomed by another groomer and she asked if she could take a picture of my Yorkie for her next grooming appt. If you are very particular about how you like your dogs groomed, ask for Ashley at the Rockwall store. She's wonderful! read more

Every time my dog got a hair cut here I was disappointed. Now, they have asked me to take him elsewhere to get haircuts because he is difficult to cut. I know what they are saying: he gets agitated easily when you cut on his legs. However, that is the entire purpose of their entire job. The salon was terrible. Don't know the woman's name (blonde hair, tattoos, nose piercing) but her demeanor was stressing out the dogs that were being groomed. If you're going to work with animals you need to understand that keeping a calm attitude will help the stressed out dogs. We take our dog to get her nails trimmed, and to be fair she is difficult to deal with. BUT this woman was just making it worse with her freaking out over the dogs actions. Never have I been 100% pleased with their haircuts but I don't complain; my main focus is that my dogs are more comfortable with shorter hair. That said, this most recent visit to the grooming salon will be my last. It started when I arrived about 15 minutes early for my dogs' appointments (always good to be early rather than late, right?). No one could check me in in the grooming salon until the groomer was back from break. This meant I had to stand there and wait while people worked on other things. I mean, maybe it's my fault for showing up early, but when the groomers did finally arrive, there was no apology or even acknowledgment from them for my wait time (One showed up right on time for the appointments, and Annette, the other groomer, showed up maybe 10 minutes later. Couldn't tell you what time her shift started though.). 6.5 hours later, I finally got the call that my dogs were almost ready. I couldn't imagine what all my dogs had been through in 6.5 hours. I wondered if they'd had water to drink. Anyway, when picking my dogs up, Annette complained to me for probably 5 minutes straight about how long it took to groom my dog. My dog was shaved, not cut with scissors... I'm not sure why she took so long. She also charged me extra for "matting" because my dog's hair was "so thick." We agreed my dog was not actually matted, but I guess Annette felt like charging me extra for something...? Why the need to charge for "matting" or "thick hair" if you're shaving? She also dropped the whole, "If you had gone with anyone else they would have charged you way more but I'm only charging you x amount more." Gee, thanks for admitting that my dog's hair wasn't matted and for charging me anyway. After 6.5 hours, I just wanted to get my poor dogs home. I had given the groomers pictures of the cut I wanted on my dog (they took photos of my example pictures with their own cell phones; all the pictures included a shaven tail - not long hair - on a dog of the same breed) but my dog still had her long-haired tail upon pickup. When I brought this up, Annette responded "I trimmed it. Did you want it shorter?" Dumbfounded by her lack of attention to the pics (she'd also called me earlier to ask if I wanted the ears cut... They were cut in the photos. Yes. Just like the photos.), I simply replied, "we'll keep it." After feeling like I had been railed on for no reason, I didn't want to burden Annette anymore than she'd clearly already felt by us. Nor did I want to put my dog through that again - "that" meaning Annette's care. I feel that I have been duped and tricked. I couldn't believe that someone was complaining to me about doing their own job that I'm paying them to do. How does one expect to earn tips when you complain to the customer about your job? To me, it just seemed like Annette wanted to rush through my dog's grooming, even though she took nearly 7 hours. I think she called about cutting the ears in case I said she could skip it. And I think she straight skipped the tail and ear-plucking to save time. Way to cut corners. I would advise strongly to seek training elsewhere. When we showed up for our 1st class, Christina said "You missed our first class last week." I replied "No, I have the paperwork I signed and a calendar of the training schedule. Today is supposed to be the 1st day of this class." We found out that the training schedule had been changed around and Christina failed to call us and let us know. No apologies for that - she kind of laughed it off. While that annoyed me, we did get all of our class sessions in before my dog graduated. What annoyed me the most was that Christina let my dog jump on her every time she saw her. Aren't you trying to fix that type of behavior? To this day my dog has a jumping problem. There was little to no structure to the "classes." These 1hr sessions ended after about 30min every time. I feel that I've learned more from YouTube videos. read more

I kinda like the store but I am a little sore for being talked into buying "The Puppy Guide". I was told i could save all the money back the first day, which was not true. The girl tore out the coupons for what I was getting then sent me to the register. Then after getting home realized, only one coupon was accepted, as stated, only one coupon per visit. So I paid more than I would have needed anyway if I had just went to Wal-Mart for the treats and toys etc. The free evaluation is also just a way to get you back into the store and really offers no real value. I have an XL breed dog/puppy. I take him here often. The workers are typically amazing with him. I also take him here to get groomed. Megan is AMAZING with him. I recently had to book another groomer because Megan wasn't working. I booked with Sabrina and had an AWFUL experience. My dog was still wet and not brushed out when I picked him up because she said he wouldn't let her. She proceeded to talk down to me like I never touch my dog (who is like my baby). Never book Sabrina, ever. She is rude and condescending and couldn't preform her job. I have no problem with the store or groomers and will still go there, but do not take your pet to the vet at this store! My normal vet office was closed so I brought my dog here when he licked some spots raw on his skin. The vet told me it was fleas despite the fact I told her there was no evidence of fleas on my dog, home, or yard. I spent weeks and a lot of money on various flea treatments with no improvement. When I finally gave up on the flea diagnosis, I went to my normal vet and learned it wasn't fleas and that the skin infection had turned to staph. The misdiagnosis by the vet at PetSmart has cost me a lot of money, but more importantly caused my dog to be in pain a lot longer than necessary. read more
