I get that the people there seem kind and like their heart is in the right place but... there is a serious case of presumptuous man-splaners (which is funny bc the worst ones are the women that work there) in aquatics. Maybe ask if I want or need advice before wasting my time that I'm taking out of my workday before assuming that I don't have a degree in biochemistry (which in case you didn't know is all the chemical reactions in biological systems) or that I haven't been in this fish keeping hobby for a while after making me wait for literally an hour for you to meander to the aquatics for me to buy a some hornwort. I'm totally going to splash aquarium, exoctic aquarium, literally any other store next time I need anything other than cat food. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm being harsh but this has happened to me literally every time I have gone to this particular store for aquatic supplies and I'm honestly tired of it. I didn't study hard for years for a degree or spend hours of my time researching how to best take care of fish to be treated like this just be I'm an AFAB. Petsmart is great. However the grooming department is not so great. This review is for the grooming department at Natomas. I have a French bulldog and it is hard to schedule a bath at Petsmart because flat-faced breeds require an "express wash." These are limited availability that seem to be booked out for days/weeks at a time. If you ask to see if another location has sooner availability, for some reason, Petsmarts groomers don't have access to see schedules at different stores. You have to call each Petsmart location directly to see if there's any availability, and usually they're all booked out. Anyway, I've managed to get 4 appointments at Natomas in the last couple months. My first experience here was good! However the 2nd & 3rd times I had a girl who didn't feel comfortable washing my dog. Luckily another staff member helped out the first time so it was fine. But the second time the girl didn't have a helper and called me back to say she could not work on him and wanted me to pick him up without a bath. I was very disappointed. I booked another appointment 1.5 weeks out for today, requesting a different and experienced groomer. Fast-forward to today, I went in and was told my appointment is tomorrow. No way I booked for tomorrow, I work tomorrow. Today is my day off... I wanted to like the groomers here since it's so close to my house, but I give up. It's too hard to make an appointment and I don't feel like my time is respected. I will continue going to Petsmart for food/toys/supplies, but I cannot recommend the groomers here to anyone. read more

I remember being able to rely on PetSmart for anything my pets needed. Everything is different now. I've had to resort to online purchases for my cats wet food because Ive been multiple times and they are always out of cans. No worries though because if I time it right, the order geta delivered right on time. I miss the experience of going into the pet store for but the world is changing... However, I just got a litter of foster kittens that need to be bottle fed. I was counting my blessings I had a pet store near by but there were no bottles in store. I asked the cashier about where there might possibly be a bottle I so desperately need but instead of help or kindness I received irritation for asking, a statement that "there are only two of us working" I'm trying to keep animals alive and the employees at a PET STORE could care less. Petsmart will not make it with this type of business practice. They will end up like Bed Bath Beyond and all the many other companies that have closed their doors. When I first brought my dog home, I didn't know where to sign up for training so I asked my friends and every single person I asked told me I absolutely HAD to drive to Natomas (from downtown) to see Jamie. Boy were they right! Jamie gives clear and easy to understand instructions and I know I can always reach out if I'm having trouble teaching my dog something. I've taken puppy, intermediate, and tricks class with Jamie and not only has it improved my dogs behavior, it's greatly strengthened our relationship and communication. Jamie goes above and beyond to make sure that each skill learned works for you and your dog and is always happy to help trouble shoot anything you're stuck on. I went to Petsmart to get a sucker fish for my gold fish tank. I noticed white spots on the sucker fish so I asked the lady why it had white spots. She said they treat the water all the time and the fish is perfectly healthy. Anyways, I bought the sucker fish and it died two days later. It also made my gold fish that I had for YEARS sick with ich and he's dying. I've been treating the water this whole week and my fish is getting worse by the day. After my groomer stopped her business for personal reasons I went to PetSmart. My first appointment I scheduled online. Went the day of and they didn't have me in their system? The lady at the counter said it's better to call. Scheduled an appointment in person since I was there. Brought my shy and nervous dog back on his appt. day. The lady that was scheduled to do the grooming checked me in, verified shot records etc., I explained his demeanor and that he isn't a biter or nipper in his 7 years. I explained his nail issue and that I needed his nails and hair on feet clipped and how he slides on my wood floors at home. She even knelt down to take a look at his paws & nails! I came back hours later to get him, he had a red raised mark on his head like a round nickel size? They had no idea what it was? He was scared more than usual and once home noticed his nails and hair on feet weren't touched!? I called the next morning, talked to a manager and she had me come back to do the work that wasn't done. She apologized and said it was probably a misunderstanding even after I explained the above. Went into store again this past week and talked to the original lady who now stated that she doesn't or can't do nails as she is a bather only not a groomer!!?? Uuumm no one told me that through the 3 visits!? There are bathers and groomers, 2 different job titles. So, basically, I paid $57.00 dollars and a $10.00 tip originally to a lady that can't do hair or feet or cut nails.....just a bath and grinding of nails! She never apologized when I told her that I had to bring him back to get his feet done! Would've been nice to know at time of booking! I am wondering if they do this thinking people won't notice or say anything? Seems dishonest to me.....I am now taking my dog elsewhere. Such a rip-off and a horrible experience. I went into the store about an hour ago and I was looking at the dog clothes towards the back of the store and noticed that one of the employees was staring at me for a while. She was Caucasian with blue and black hair at the register the closest to the entrance. After I got checked out by one of the nicer employees, I walked over to her register and told her that she made me feel uncomfortable. She said, "Which employee?" I said YOU were staring at me and I felt very uncomfortable. She said she zoned out and apologized. I don't know if she was telling the truth or not, but I have no reason to steal from PetSmart. We have a little poodle and have shopped here for EVERYTHING. The store manager with a big beard has always been beyond helpful and wonderful with all our visits. We recently got a doberman pup and we've been trying to figure out a food that fits her and that she likes. The store manager had told us if our pup didn't like the food to come on back and try another brand out. We've went with instinct as the first fic and she didn't seem to like it but our other pup enjoyed it, so no need to exchange it. We got a $70.00 bag and have tried to exchange it 2x now and keep getting this rude disrespectful employees who seem to act like it's coming out of their paycheck. This is my go to pet store from dog toys to haircuts. They have a great selection of dog toys and clothes on sale. They had a coupon going on for one of my purchases (which I didn't know) so the cashier just scanned the coupon and gave me the discount--- score. My dog always gets groomed here. They have groomers here that really do care for your dog and my dog doesn't resist too much coming here. One of the groomers really liked my dog and requested me to ask for her next time I come in because she wanted to work with him again. That was the first time a groomer has said that to me and it makes me feel relieved that my dog is in good hands with people who actually care and like him. read more

I took my dog there a total of 3 times, first two times they did amazing the last time I took her in for a grooming and bath they shaved her down (keep in mind my dogs hair was NOT matted) I later explained my concerns to the lady who groomed her and she basically said she couldn't do anything about it. At the shop they claim to have a hands on appointment to check for fleas, matting etc (WHICH THEY DIDNT FUCKING DO)I then noticed when we got home after around 3 days my dog has fleas, we do not have any other pets in my home nor does she like to socialize with other dogs. I went in over the weekend. I am happy that they are open amid the current Covid situation, but they still should take some pride in the store appearance. Most importantly, the fish tanks. Most of the tanks were covered in algae on the sides and at least 3 tanks had one or more dead fish floating in tanks, that had several other live fish in there. My tank at home is in great shape, and one of the little cory catfish I got, sadly didn't make it through the night. Even if the store offers an exchange for another fish i wouldn't take it. I feel sorry for the fish in their tanks. They deserve better temporary homes!! read more

This would teach me to read reviews first. Yesterday I took my dog to get groomed. He is a small Carin Terrier. Daisy F took my dog who was of course nervous. After leaving and just making it home 10minutes later, I was called to come pick up my dog because she claimed he was too nervous. This little girl shaved half my dog. Now I have to take him to wait until July 15 to take him to Del Paso Groomers, were people are much more experienced. NEVER and I repeat never bring your dog here for grooming services. (See update at bottom) I brought my dog in this morning and her back legs were shaking so badly she couldn't stand. That's how scared she was to be there. I wish I had listened to my instincts and left right then. My dog has never shaked or hid behind me when I've brought here anywhere. So I'll let you make your own assessment about that. Before she took my dog back I asked Daisy to please make sure they pull the hair out of her ears. (For my dogs breed this is really important to do). I also let her know that in the past when I brought her to this location they did not pull out the hair. I would notice as I was leaving and have to bring her back in. Having this happen multiple times is a very stressful experience. My dog knows I am there and thinks we are going home so she is completely focused on getting back to me. This is extremely anxiety provoking for her and myself. Usually they put her back on one of the platforms where they cut the dogs hair. This time without asking me they brought her into the back where I heard loud metal banging. I don't know if it was her kicking the kennel or them pushing her against it. Seeing my dog in so much distress during a situation that shouldn't be happening had me shaking and sick to my stomach. When I complained to the Petsmart manager she gave me absolutely terrible customer service. I was very disappointed by this. I have been a patron at Petsmart for years and expected more. Update: This photo is after a $300+ vet visit thanks to Petsmart. My dog had to be sedated due to how much hair was in her ear. I informed the Petsmart staff multiple times how important it is to pluck my dogs ears due to her breed. Apparently they've just been shaving it and left this in her ear. The ER Vet informed me how many months of hair this would be (which is how long I've been going to this location). The vet asked me where I have been going and strongly advised me against going to Petsmart again. This is just one example of what they left in there. This is the size of my nail to the knuckle of my pointer finger. The vet showed me more of what was pulled out but I will not share that due to the resulting ear infection and what came out with it. read more

PETSMART: they have a huge variety of all things pet related. I have been coming here since 2004 and the store has always been stocked, cashiers have been good, and floor area associates have been really nice and helpful. We have had many pets over the years, a cat, parakeets, gold fish and siamese fish, hermit crabs, and dogs. We have bought many things for each pet here, they have a great stock of anything you need for them plus even more. They also offer on the cat and dog food a guarantee if your pet or yourself are not satisfied with the food bring it back with receipt for full refund. It works i have done it before. They do have pet groomers here and the veterinary clinic inside, but i have not used them but they are usually busy. They also offer dog training, we had taken our 1st dog here and the class was really good. We did the puppy training and it helped out so much being first time dog owners. The teacher was amazing with pets and very helpful, we would see her on our random trips to by food and toys. We would ask questions and still help us during and after our training was done. They also have cat adoption here, they have a small room on the side which always has cats for adoption, they host them frequently where they will bring in more on special weekends and sometimes they will do for dogs to. And if you bring in your dog or other pets and they have to go the bathroom and just stop and go anywhere, dont worry they have many pet cleanup stations around with bags for #2 pickup and spray and towels for liquid cleanup, also if the humans gotta go the bathrooms are located on the right side wall when you walk in near the cat area. Its kinda hidden behind the fake wall that has a display of stuff. My dog loves Petsmart. My pup use to be on Pro Plan but due to a change in her health, I've had to take my shopping elsewhere. Regardless of the fact that her food is not sold here (I've switched her to a specialty brand concentrating on a single protein) I still find myself stopping by to check out their selection of dog toys, especially that of the mega long weener pup toys so made famous in their commercials. In addition to a large selection of dog food/cat food, they also carry a good variety of Equine materials as well as fish and small mammal supplies. For the new pups they offer a good range of puppy socializing to obedience training and advanced for a nominal fee and on specific days host adoption events. Moderate pricing (compared to SF Feed Stores) and expansive aisles inviting the pets to come on in with their humans. Public restrooms when I need to go wash my hands after petting the numerous dogs checking out my armload of squeaker toys. My favorite end to the visits? Having their staff give in to my pup's big nose floating around the counter at check out and receiving a biscuit reward for her attempt. read more

The people in the Grooming Department and at Banfield know all three of our animals. They are always ready to helpout.

The grooming salon here is great. I have been taking my cocker spaniel here for years and she has never had a problem. The staff is friendly and always greets you. The wash and hair cut is around $50. You have to make an appointment, but it's very easy to call or go online. Your first visit you have to bring in the rabies vaccine history. They usually call after 3 hrs to let you know your dog is ready. They give you a report card and write about the condition of their eyes, ears teeth etc. Carlie and Daisy always do a great job. The other groomers do too. My dog is mostly blind and they have always taken good care of her. I recommend them. read more

I love PetSmart, this one especially, because of their cat adoption programs on the weekends. This is where I adopted my little baby 4 years ago and I can't put into words how much joy she's brought me ever since! Kudos to PetSmart for supporting adoption programs and working to find homes for these little animals. This particular PetSmart is in a great location, just a stone's throw from the 5 and 80 freeways. The store is huge and has everything you can think of for whatever critter(s) you fancy. Mice, hamsters, rats, birds, fish, cats, dogs. Unlike a lot of stores these days, there's also plenty of floorspace. Aisles are not jammed together, so you can move around and shop without having to choreograph your passage through aisles past fellow shoppers. Great deals on food and supplies. In addition to weekend adoptions, there are also resident animals toward the right rear of the store that you can visit during the week. And there's a dog grooming department and even an on-site veterinarian (Banfield I believe) that will accept walk-ins. I once paid them something in the neighborhood of $75 to tell me "Oh she's not pregnant, she's just fat" when I first adopted my kitty. Ha! Took my dog here today for bath, haircut, flea treatment. She tells me 3-3 1/2 hours, that was 1:00. 2:10 she calls and leaves message saying Rocket is done. I called back and she was on a break and I asked if he was really done in 1 hour? Anywhere I've taken him before has taken 3-4 hours! They didn't know so I said when I'm done at my hair appt I'll be there. I get there and Totally disappointed. It doesn't even look like he had a cut, didn't smell like a bath. I've bought some good quality fish here and some that have had hidden health issues that wouldn't be easily fixed by beginner hobbyist. Their selection of birds and reptiles are limited compared to other locations. And lastly the customer service is a hit or miss. When I dropped him off, it was just him and another husky. It was 12pm, and I didn't get a phone call yet so I was getting pretty worried. I called the grooming salon to check on him, and the customer service was the worst. I asked the guy to check on my dog to see if he was ready, and he sounded clueless. He was like "Uhhh, let me check.." I heard him yell over to another lady "Is Toby ready yet?!" Then he tells me "She is not ready yet, give us another hour." Okay first of all, my puppy is a BOY, and you mean HE. I didn't even know if he was talking about the correct dog, which made me worry even more. I got a call at 12:48pm, and he was ready to go. This was almost 5 hours later.. What were they doing to my dog the whole time? The cut turned out alright. My dog is pretty active, and they said he was wiggling the whole time. As a grooming salon, I would assume they know how to tend to different types of dogs. His cuts were a little choppy too. I don't think I will be bringing my dog back to this grooming salon after my past experiences. read more

This review is for the dog training classes provided by Jamie. We're currently doing the intermediate class with our adopted rescue dog after completing the beginner class over the summer. It was very easy to initially sign-up for the class online. Jaime then called to make sure we signed up for the right class and provide other info. She also informed us of the discount if you sign-up for multiple classes so we got both 6-session classes (12 weeks, 12 classes total) for $199. Really good price! Each week we focus on just a few specific things which makes "homework" manageable time-wise. The written materials provided are pretty good, too. There is a designated area towards back of store for training. During COVID the classes may be limited capacity (usually not more than 4 dogs per class) so there is plenty of space and attention to you and your dog. read more

I had made an appointment on the phone last week for 12:30 I had an emergency and arrived at 12:50 I stood in the front for awhile until Ceasar finally asked how he could help I explained I had an appointment after a long pause he asked for dog name I said Sampson another long pause as he responded while doing another dog your appointment was at 1230 I said yes I know I had an emergency I wasn't even sure of the time at the time he said well it's almost 1 I looked at my watch it said 12:50 I stood there assault again he says so you have to reschedule coldly then he tells me to stand in the corner where the camera could see me as confused as my daughter and I on why he was treating me life this and feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable I rescheduled the appointment and asked who was the groomer he said he was .. never seen this person before horrible non service never felt so disrespected at a groomers before just horrible never did I receive any reminders of service or a phone call no sympathy or empathy at all I'm glad he won't be groomed by him read more

I have special dogs, with special needs. PetSmart helps me fulfill those needs. My toy poodle has food allergies, among his many other ailments, and specialty stores are the only pet food stores that tend to carry food he can eat. This particular PetSmart is my go-to location. It's clean, fully stocked and sometimes has sales on the food and treats I buy. The staff is always friendly and helpful, although I rarely need assistance. I'm an "in and out" kinda shopper. On occasion I wander over to the toys and clothing isles. They have a decent selection and I usually find something I don't need but convince myself my lil Chulo or Sebastian do. Thanks for that. I've never used their grooming or vet services, as I tend to prefer non-chain establishments for those type of personalized care. This Petsmart is one of the newer locations and is huge. They don't sell any cats or dogs or etc, but instead have adoption agencies come in for people who are looking for a new family member ;). They even have a rabbit adoption agency! They have easy to find sections for all different types of animals, and a wide stock of everything that you might need. Sadly this location doesn't have the daycare center that some Petsmarts do have, but they definitely have the space to pull one off. There has been many talks of putting one in when you ask the employees there, but apparently the talks started years back ... so it's a matter of them making a move. Tip: Sign up for their Pet Perks card and e-mail list. You'll get a bunch of discounts!! read more
