I have been bringing my dog here on and off over the last five years, but I think I've decided this place is just to crazy for us. The groomer has always done a pretty good job on my dog. I would think a groomer is one of the hardest jobs to do. They have to bathe a stranger, brush a stranger and cut it's hair for another stranger to like. That's a lot of pressure! With that being said, I don't think my dog is the easiest dog to groom. He doesn't like people messing with his ears, paws or face. He definitely hates the blow drier. After our last visit, they called to complain about his ears being too matted to brush. When I called them back to say "Just shave him down", the groomer said she was able to comb them out. An hour later the groomer called back to tell me after being bit at several times, my dog had gotten too aggressive for her to continue to cut his hair. So we had to pick him up without a proper hair cut. I thought "That's why I suggested just shaving him down." Clearly, if you were pulling at his ears combing his hair, he would be pretty irritated at you, why wouldn't you just accept my request to shave him? Regardless, we picked him up and brought him home to finish trimming his hair ourselves. The plus was they bathed him and trimmed his nails at no charge. We just had to finished everything ourselves. I will conclude on most visits we were completely happy with their services, but if you have an emotional or stressed dog, avoid this place completely. read more

I got three guinea pigs from this PETSMART, all of them are sick. And now my daughter got sick with ringworm. They will usually get sick after the guarantee expired it., that's what the lady in the register told me. They won't even treat them, they told me to find a vet for small animals. If you don't want to deal with sick animals don't buy guinea pigs from here. read more

Love how they love my doggies and my doggies enjoy going there. They know they are loved. :) I love Tina,the manager but all of the employees are great to work with. They work very hard to get your pet's needs met. My only complaint is they get so far booked out, it's sometimes difficult for me to book my doggies. Maybe it's just because it's around the corner, but this is the only place I go for my pet needs. I have been to a couple of other Pet Smarts in town, this is the cleanest, largest, & has the most friendly staff. I have a 165 lb. Great Dane who gets tons of attention from all of the pet loving staff. My "baby" girl hates going to the groomer & will root her paws into the linoleum to keep from going back to the kennels. The staff is very understanding & lets me walk her back to get into the crate. I think this is fantastic! The manager has been great! Went to get a big bag of food one day & they only had the smalls, he told the cashier to ring 2 up as 1 large, saving me money & an extra trip to the store. Thank you!! My only ding is...I have had some issues with my Dane's nails getting trimmed to short or splitting after her visit. I am sure she is not an easy one to work on in this area, as she hates having her paws messed with, but I really wish more care would be taken. read more

Highly upset with the Stone Ridge location. My two pets have been going there for FOUR years. When I moved to different city, I still made the commitment of driving all the way to this location because of the service and quality. After today, I will no longer render their services. My pet's appointment was cancelled without notice (phone call, text alert, email) with claims that she "cannot be booked on the weekends and can only be booked during slow hours during the week." Unacceptable. This was news to me as I've been bringing my pets here for so long! So disappointed! Weekdays were never feasible. read more

If there was an ability to give this store negative 5 stars, it would perfectly convey their groomers level of professionalism and compassion for their clients. Many disgusting incidents have previously been reported and nothing has been done to protect all of the innocent animals from these so-called "groomers." If you have a golden doodle I highly recommend you to NOT come here for a haircut. They make your dog look ridiculous. I showed them pictures of how I wanted my golden doodle to look and when I picked her up she looked nothing like the pictures. Not even close to how I wanted her cut. read more

So called them because there was a confusion when my husband scheduled for a groom during our pets hotel stay. They had him for a bath and cut but I had my husband clarify we only wanted bath and brush with top dog plus. They said they would do a sanitary trim and trim around his eyes. I look and my email confirmation said bath and trim. I called and told them and they said it was a miscommunication and our poodle was shaved already but they waved the charges and I was fine with that, told the manager I appreciated it and would see them back when he needs to be groomed again. Well we picked up our dog from the pet hotel and were told they couldn't groom him at the location anymore. Yet when i was on the phone with the grooming manager and he was on the table already nothing was mentioned. They said he's too hyper, he's a 14 month poodle and gets excited around people and when we booked we also mentioned if it was going to be a busy day we would reschedule. If his appointment was at 8am and by 8:45 he was already being shaved and there were no complaints when I called that seems odd to me. (Bath and cut appointments claim 3-4 hours) So very disappointed with our experience but happy with the pet hotel and will continue to bring him there when we need to. read more

This store always has a line when checking out and never bother to open another lane. Asked an associate if we could get help in the hamster section and he said he would call someone over. No one ever came and the other workers are helping customers that came after us. And they care more about stocking than helping customers. read more

I took my corgi here to have his nails trimmed and while they were doing the back right paw, he yelped. After that, he was limping. I took him to the vet and they did xrays and the bones in his knee joint show evidence of injury and he has fluid in the joint. This was 2 months ago, and he is still limping and in pain. I took all of the documentation to PetSmart and told them what happened. They refused to even take responsibility or apologize, much less reimburse me for the hundreds of dollars in vet bills. Never. I take my "kids" to Petsmart every year for Santa pics. With Covid everywhere last year (2020) we decided it was not a good idea. So, we were looking forward to getting it done this year. I made my appt in advance for 1pm on Dec 19th and took several pics (very exciting). I was told to expect an email a few days after the 19th. It's been 10 days today and still nothing. I've called the 23rd, 24th, 26th and 27th and spoken to SEVERAL different people. They CLAIM they're going to look through the Ipads and call me back with info. Not even the courtesy of a phone call saying they can't find it, lost it, deleted it or just plain don't know what the hell happened. I had a couple of choices of where to take them for Santa pics this year and chose Petsmart because they always do a good job. Well they totally sucked it this year. Very disappointed especially since we had to skip last year. I'll go elsewhere next year (hopefully one of my babies will still be with me, since he's 14 now). read more

The time before that I waited nearly 10 minutes before he told me he was trying to figure out why the profile photo of my dog in their system didn't look like my dog. I am making this post public, and would like everyone who reads this to share: On Tuesday, May 22 at 1030am, we took our healthy dog, Lexi, to Petsmart on 281/Evans in San Antonio, Tx. I picked Lexi up around 1:05 and her tongue was blue and she was gasping for air. THIS IS NOT THE CONDITION THAT I DROPPED HER OFF IN!!! We took her to our personal vet, where for the next three days she was placed in and out of an oxygen case and had to endure multiple tests all while still struggling to breathe. We had various doctors and specialists working around the clock trying to save our dogs life. SOMETHING HAPPENED TO OUR BABY GIRL AT THAT PLACE! At 10:00pm on May 24, we emergently had to take her to the nearest animal hospital and say our last goodbyes as she struggled to breathe. She went into God's arms while being held in mine surrounded by James Guerra and my love! Lexi-Texas, you will be missed beyond words and I can't wait for you to smother us with your licks and kisses on the other side! my dog had an open wound so we took her there to get checked out. Waited over and hour and the doctor never came.. ended up just walking out. And we had an appointment. while we were waiting outside we heard three different people complain about how unprofessional the staff and doctor are. Take ur dog to a real vet if you want them to be treated correctly. Kind of glad we left because I'm not sure how well they would have healed my dog. read more

Avoid the grooming salon!!! I have still gone to this location for other needs such as for our fish, dog toys or stuff like that but for everything else I have taken my business elsewhere. I gave them 3 chances to groom my yorkie and all 3 they shaved him like a chihuahua!! Manager is not helpful I had an issue at grooming salon and when I complained was offered 20% off, I don't need the item to be discounted I wanted the matter to be settled so it doesn't happen again. read more

My search to finding a groomer for my unvaccinated, 6 lb Yorkshire Terrier led me to PetSmart as they only require the Rabies vaccine. Note: she HAD to get the Rabies vaccine because we were moving from overseas back to the states; there would be no way around it. But for the most part, she hadn't been vaccinated since she was 14 weeks old--she is now 3.3 years old and completely healthy and harmless. I digress! Being new to the state of Texas, I couldn't believe that pets had to be vaccinated in order to be groomed. The original groomer I wanted to take my Yorkie to wouldn't give us any exceptions unless she were titer tested. As that was not an option for us, we went to PetSmart to get my long-haired Yorkie groomed with a premium package. My Yorkie didn't have a single mat in her long hair because I brush her frequently. She is also trained to not bark and to sit still for long periods of time. So at drop off, I thought it would be at most 2 hours for the full groom. We had an appointment for 9 AM and I received a call at 12:30 PM to pick her up. Upon arrival, my Yorkie looked as though she had only been brushed and given a pretty bow on top of her head. For 3.5 hours, I figured my Yorkie had to have been recieving such a wonderful groom session but I was wrong. I specifically asked them to bring up her coat, lining everything even and to trim her tail. She looked the EXACT same as any other bath day. I ended up paying a whopping $55! However, her ears were perfecty clean and her teeth were as well. At least that slightly justifies the price because it could have been worse! My beautiful show-like dog could have been shaved altogether, right!? Eek. It WAS a Saturday so they were ridiculously busy. I am not sure if they are overbooking but, there were EIGHT dogs at the front entrance after I originally brought in mine. At pick up, nearly all the grooming stations were being used and there were more dogs in the back waiting to be groomed and even more owners with their dogs at the front desk waiting to be checked-in! I firmly believe that whomever groomed my Yorkie was having a hard time multitasking and couldn't work well under pressure because the needs of my Yorkie were not being met. The thought that my pup was in a kennel waiting to finish being groomed makes me cringe because that place was loud and stressful; she couldn't have been sitting on a grooming table for 3.5 hours and walk out looking the exact same way she normally does. I hope that this PetSmart works on their scheduling and does their best to not overbook. They seem to be talented with grooming other pets. I think we would see the staff's full potential if they focused on a certain amount of pets per time slot. I rated this PetSmart 3 stars because of the convenience of the location, the effort, and recognizing and acknowledging that this is a tough job. I would have rated it 5 stars if I felt that my pup was a priority and the customer's grooming desires were being met. read more

Love the staff here! They're always so very nice and helpful. Love Yoko in the grooming salon, she always does such a great job. I seriously don't know how they do it but when I take my dogs here they always smell and look great for a while, I can't seem to replicate those results at home... and trust me, I've tried. I've taken my black lab to the doggie day camp multiple times, and I absolutely love them! I took her today and was late picking her up, the girl at hotel desk (Maggie) spoke with a manager and stayed after closing to let me pick her up. I have never had a problem with them, they are always so nice to me and my dog, and I love that she comes home and passes out from playing all day! Thank you!! read more

Wouldn't recommend this place for guinea pigs. All three guinea pigs I've gotten from here were sick. The first two showed signs of illness about a month after we got them. One of them had cracking skin on her nose and under one of her eyes that started to bleed while the other developed a large ball on her nose. We took them back to get treated and they had to stay there for about a month. The one that had the cracking skin made a full recovery and has been perfectly healthy since while the other started developing a ball again then died. The last one I've gotten had a bald spot then would sneeze a lot. Thankfully after a week in quarantine from the other piggy, she fought off the illness and is living happily and healthy. read more

I had an unexpected loooong stay in San Antonio. My two small dogs needed a bath until we got back home to their regular groomer. Petsmart was able to work me in. They came through (again) with grooming, bows (for her), a scarf (for him) and much better smelling dogs! He is 12 years old and she is 4. Each received great care. The staff at the grooming salon are top rate. I would recommend them any day! read more

I Am VERY pleased with the grooming department at this Petsmart! "Jessie" did a fabulous job with my Great Pyrenees. Double coated dogs, and this breed in particular, can be dificult to groom and cannot be shaved. They get matted easily, and I have seen horror stories from other grooming fails around town, but This girl listened and did EXACTLY what I asked. She did a terrific job with my 110 pound baby, and he came back happy and not agitated, and in our case, this is a plus. We can handle bathing our other dogs, but this one is just too big to bathe and furminate at home. And Jessie came through. I've been there twice and will use them again. read more

These guys bathe my 175 lb wolfhound. He is well behaved, but he always comes out looking wonderful. I know how much work goes into his coat. I don't mind paying the difference to have his nails ground. He's a therapy dog, and visits pediatric hospital patients, and a local assisted living facility, and his nails need to be ground smooth, rather than just clipped. Most places charge extra for grinding. The major plus, from my perspective is the charge. I feel bad for the 10 lb dog owners, because other groomers charge a sliding scale based on weight, and would charge upwards of $100 to bathe Ned. I make out really well. $47 + tax for a giant sized dog, bath and nail grinding. Everyone is really friendly, and my baby is in good hands! read more

I've taken my dog there a few times over the past 4 years. The last two times they cut his nails causing him to bleed. I found out he was bleeding when I got him and found blood in my back seat. The first time they called animal control because my dog bit one of the techs when they cut him. My dog is a lab and has never bitten anyone. Yesterday I called the manager around noon to voice my concern. She was out for lunch and I have yet to receive a call back. I went there with my dog to get a grooming yet he was pretty matted up. I could tell that they just didn't want to do the work and my dog was a little nervous so they said he was aggressive he is a schnauzer. I cut him myself and then took him back the next month for another Grobie and they seem just fine with it for some reason it was not aggressive this month the people here are just very lazy. My suggestion is to go here if your dog is in pristine shape and if not don't waste your time or money read more

This morning I took Odie to the petsmart in Stone Ridge shopping center grooming salon as a treat, he just gets a bath and nail trim nothing special except an Oatmeal bath because of his allergies. So the manager Angi asks me if I wanted the Oatmeal bath for him like before and I say yes. I go back around 10:30 to pick him up and the groomer comes out and says here is Otis, I look at here and say his name is Odie then she continues to say Otis was good and I correct her again about his name so I just take my paper and leave. As I am walking out I look at my paper and it says they used Flea and Tick shampoo. So I go back in and ask again are you sure this is the correct paper for Odie and again she yes that is for Otis. By this I am getting mad and I tell her his name is Odie not Otis. I ask to talk to the manager Angi and she says oh she read the wrong instructions it says Oatmeal bath here, then I say I paid for Oatmeal because of his allergies and then she tells me our Flea and Tick shampoo is Oatmeal based, how convenient! So I leave and called 3 different petsmart grooming salons and asked about their flea and tick shampoo and asked if all the salons use the same product. They all answered not Oatmeal based and they all use the same product. So then I call Stoneridge petsmart and asked an employee there and he verified that their flea and tick shampoo is NOT Oatmeal based. So I ask to talk to Angi and I told her that it was very nice that as a manager of a store that she can just boldly lie to a customers about the product just to cover her ass! Never again will I go there again! read more

I took my dog in for a the standard grooming package for roughly $30 and walked out paying nearly $50. The up-charging was OUTRAGEOUS. Instead of charging the differnce b/t a standard nail clip and nail grinding, they added it on and charged me full price. At the very least they could have taken off the money they up-charged to condition her -- which was $7.00.. SEVEN DOLLARS???? My dog doesn't even have long hair. I asked to speak to the manager and made sure to say the staff was nice, the dog looked good but to please make sure her staff appropriately explained the extra charging in the future. She was rude and COULD HAVE CARED LESS. For $50 I could have taken her to some posh doggie spa that I never would have considered to begin with. Boo to PetSmart. read more

I've been a loyal customer for over 6 yrs, I took my dog for a grooming, liked her up still smelly, nails not cut down, anal glands not done for $48! They said if I bring my dog back the grooming will be free. we went back I was told they're not doing another shampoo, her allergies is not gonna help the smell, and she will only trim the nails a little, they said my dog wouldn't let them Do her anal glands or nails , so I asked well why charge me if you didn't do them! I had a good experience bringing "Mia", (Pit Bull) here for to have her nail trimming and grooming. You need to make an appointment beforehand which lessens the stress with other pets being around her since she is not socialized much. Tina really took care to be gentle. I have experienced three different incidences where I called the grooming department for a quote on a groom for my dogs. After providing the information they requested, age, breed, weight, i was given the price and made the appointments. When I arrived at the store to drop off my dogs I was told the price would be more than double what I was told on the phone. The store manager refused to honor the price quoted. My daughter has had this experience at this location as well. read more

I will never bring my miniature goldendoodle puppy here, again. If there was any way to give a 0 rating, I would. The lack of professionalism the grooming staff exhibited is unacceptable. First and foremost, today, was my 5 month old puppy's first full grooming visit. We have been clients of the Petsmart Salon for several months, now. As such, it is extremely disheartening to know the groomer attempted to overcharge me. He actually wanted to charge me the same price as a large labordoodle. When I questioned the groomer, he said he had to charge me that price because the system doesn't recognize miniature goldendoodles. This explanation did not sound logical to me; therefore, I consulted with the store manager, and she told me I should not have been charged the price of a labordoodle, and they would adjust my bill. When I returned to get my puppy, my bill had not been adjusted. I, then, explained the situation to a different manager on duty. She called back to the salon for clarification, only for them to make things more confusing for her. As a result, we walked to the salon, and both groomers lied about the reasons for the charge. When the manager actually caught them in their lies and deceit, they adjusted my bill. I am appalled that they would purposefully attempt to overcharge me. More importantly, it saddens me to know I actually entrusted these unethical people to be around my precious little puppy each time he was there for a wash and trim. read more

This place is hit or miss for grooming. I have had both good and bad grooming experiences here, the problem is the bad always leaves the lingering impression. I had one experience where one of the groomers, Jack, gave my dog a weird top knot so I asked her to fix it and she literally took the scissors and lopped it off in one slice. I could tell she was mad/embarrassed I asked her to fix it so I guess "she showed me". Another with a young man that was assigned to my elderly dog. It was supposed to take no more than two hours to do the grooming (I personally discussed this with him because of my dog's age). I finally drove over there after 5 hours and they said he just finished. He couldn't even come and talk to me. I'm not even sure he actually groomed her. I have a feeling he didn't want to and asked somebody else. It was very strange. Other groomers there have been wonderful. Alexa has always been very sweet and does a great job. Sometimes you ask for a certain groomer and once you pick up your dog, somebody else has actually done the grooming. Like I said, hit or miss. read more

While I generally do not have a problem with this store, the grooming department should be avoided like the plague!! I took my 165lb. Great Dane in for an appointment this morning at 10:30. When I arrived there was a woman inside checking in her two dogs. My dog cannot handle little yappy lap dogs jumping up in her face, so I waited outside the grooming department until she was finished. While I waited about 5 feet from the door another woman walked right past us in the door. No big deal I wasn't in a rush. Two men walked in with fairly large dogs and they got behind me and waited as well. While the 3 of us and our dogs patiently waited our turn 2 more woman walked in and went right through the door without a glance in our direction. I stuck my head in the door to tell the ladies that there was a line to which they responded that it was first come first served. I was now a little pissed as there were 3 people in front of them. At this time another woman with a small dog walked between my dog and the door and her little shit of a dog started growling at my dog (the very reason why I didn't just barge into the small check in area. I told her that there was a line and she didn't even respond. I asked the 1 groomer who was doing the check in if she had noticed the 3 people waiting to get in and being polite about it by waiting outside with their larger dogs. She responded "No, I'm busy"!! Really, well no shit!! I don't know who were the rudest the employees or the customers. I will never return to this store and I will ensure that all my pet loving friends at least refrain from using the grooming service. The self-entitlement of the customers and the rudeness of the staff are intolerable!! read more
