I use this location from my aquarium needs. This location has the most beautiful selection for aquarium plants! They have at least five aquariums filled with live plants! They also have a great selection of fish tropical and saltwater which the upkeeping aquariums is wonderful! Went here today to get my dog's nails trimmed. Her nails had grown into talons. It's the holidays, and even my dog deserves to celebrate, so I scheduled her for the Holiday Package. This included shampoo with argan oil and aloe Vera, moisturizing conditioner, sugar cookie spritz, teeth brushing, and nail buffing. The finished by giving her a seasonal bandana. I scheduled the appointment for 11 AM using the Petco app. We arrived shortly before 11 and did not have an issue finding parking. When we got in the staff was very friendly. They do require you to have up to date rabies vaccination for an appointment. They checked her records before they did anything else. Just a bit of history about Ripley before I proceed. Ripley was an older dog of eight when my fiance and I adopted her from the Humane Society. She had only one owner before us that dropped her off just a week earlier for unknown reasons. I am sure that being dropped off at the Humane Society after so many years affected her. She seemed pretty worried about me leaving her a Petco. Mya was very sweet with her and got her to the other side. It took only about an hour for everything to be completed, and I got a call when she was done. Checkout was easy. They were able to let me pay at the counter. There have been times in the past when I had to check out at the front register. At the end of the day, Ripley is happy, and I no longer have to fear being accidentally killed by her nails. Petco is a great place for dog grooming. read more

Took my moms dog here for her 16th birthday!! I forget the ladies name that talked with us and spoiled her dog and my dog, she was amazing and remembered us from the last time we came in! We came in to get some treats from their assortment of bins, great quality too I might add. We also ended up leaving with some cute clothes for the dogs that were on discount! Not much to say about this place. Staff were few and far between. Elderly lady was waiting who knows how long looking for a staff member to help her but never found one while I was there. I dropped my dachshund off for bath and nail trim. Picked her up an hour later and went home. My wife picked her up and told me they didn't wash her. She still smelled and had dander like before. Ended up bathing her at home. I won't be back to this place to spend $60 for a nail trim. I understand the negative reviews. read more

We recently got a new dog were seeking places that offer grooming services when we came upon Petco off 281 here on Yelp. Made sense, but it was something I never thought about before. I tried calling for information twice, only to get a recorded message saying the stylists were busy and I could leave a message. I was going to be shopping in the area so I figured I'd just drop in for questions and information. The grooming area is to the right when you walk in, so I went over to the window to watch the grooming in action before approaching someone with my questions. Two young ladies were in the process of chatting back and forth while grooming dogs. The one further from the window had a happy, curly, floofy tail wagger, and things seemed to be going well there. The young lady nearest the window was in the process of a nail trim on what looked like a medium sized shepherd mix. I was shocked that she was barely even watching what she was doing, not even trying to gauge where the quick might be, and just quickly and haphazardly going from nail to nail, giving more attention to the conversation with the other stylist than the dog she was working on (suddenly the comments here about jagged and rough cut nails made sense!) When it came time to dremel, the dog started squirming and pulling his leg away, and she was wrestling to make one quick pass over the nail with the tool. Most dogs dislike the process, I get it, but her lack of attention to clipping and lack of professionalism in this situation was enough to make me realize this would not be a place I would choose for grooming, so I never bothered asking further questions. To the pup in her care, I'm sorry, and I'm sorry to its owner, too. I don't think any owner who would see their pup the way I did would continue to get grooming services there. This Petco happens to be the only store that carries Purina Pro Plan dog food. So they have become a regular visit for me now. The few times I have come in there the Purina food is wiped out to a very few bags. Is it a supply problem like the rest of the world? I hope not and it is just a popular food. The store is clean, on the small side or maybe it's because they are jammed full of things for pets and it takes up any available space. They have dog foods I have never heard of and quite a large selection. They are also very friendly. If you are looking for a good pet store for you dog (it's all I have so) give these guys a try. read more

I booked my two dogs to get groomed only to be rescheduled not once but twice (this happened with two different groomers, and I was told the same reason for the cancellations: each had a medical emergency and on different weekends...interesting.) The second time they asked to reschedule, I declined and said I'll find somewhere else to get my dogs groomed. Before this, they had an awesome groomer who never cancelled. Then she left, and the issues began. Giving two stars because one is the minimum and added another for the decent pet food/treat selection and prices. read more

Worst customer service! Would never recommend their grooming to anyone. First off my appt was cancelled 20 mins before the time by the company due to the groomer assigned to us called in. That was inconvenient, yet I was understanding and changed the appt to a different day. Then on the day of the newly rescheduled appt, i show up and was told my Puppy could not be "serviced ". The manager was not helpful. And refused to groom our puppy that we had just adopted because we changed the puppy's name and it did not match the rabies sheet. I provided them all the documentation that included pictures from the adoption agency showing the original name and the name we changed it to. Manager said she could not accept it. But could not provide a legitimate reason why the paperwork provided was not sufficient. I was told I could of stolen another dog's rabies info to pass it off as my dogs. I said i understand how that may happen but in this circumstance I have documentation with photographs from the adoption agency with the puppy's original name and newly changed name. The manager still refused service. She said she could not service the puppy without a rabies sheet with the new name, i said fine change the name on the account. She said that cannot be done because she knows she has another name. The manager told me to go to another store and create a new account under the original name of the puppy since that store wouldn't know. I explained that made no sense as i had documentation that was sufficient enough for a veterinary office to continue the puppy's shots yet it was not sufficient for a giving the puppy a bathe and trimming nails. This was a horrible experience with people who did not care about customer service and did not seem to want to be at work in my opinion . read more

Horrible experience with the injuries found on my dog after grooming. Back in December I took my bichon poodles in for grooming and the first time they were sent home with knots and uncut fur that was not adherence to my requests. After being in contact with the manager out of frustration for the amount of money spent, they offered to attempt to fix the groom. One dog was fine, the second dog (the twin sister of the first so same coat) was sent home with cuts on her ear (as if from scissors) and a BURN. An actual burn on her behind. Three months later the burn has not healed and it angers me to see it every day. I had never been to this location as I am newer to the area, but I truly will never be back. read more

My sister (who dropped off my pup) went in and was told my dog looked like she "really needed nail buffing" and was offered a package to add on right then and there. We been coming to this petco for about 5 years, was happen today was ridiculous. we waiting in like more than 20 min for the pet grooming. When it was our turn we got turned away because they said we had a 15 grace period, that is ridiculous. We were standing in line that is ridiculous. i tried to talk to the manager named Nicole and didn't seem to care she tried to give some bull excuse. i asked if they could please have some consideration because we are loyal customers, but she said that it did not matter. We have a membership and have our pet needs on auto order. We will never come back and will cancel our membership and auto order. it is very sad read more

This review is specifically for the Vetco Total Care that is part of this Petco location. The place was very busy, but I was welcomed with a smile and immediately accommodated despite arriving 35min early. I was in a room within 30 seconds of walking in the door, and I left 45 minutes later (10 min after my scheduled appointment time), with a diagnosis, the meds I needed for my dog's rash, and his vaccines updated. Incredible service, excellent veterinarian, vet techs, and other staff. The only negative was that the antibiotics were a bit pricey. But, it was easily worth the level service and the price of everything else made up for it. read more

You hear all these nightmare stories about petco and competitors, but everytime I come here, it's been a wonderful experience. I came here one day to look at the reptiles, and the gentleman who helped me opened the iguana tank, and the iguana we were looking at walked right over to him and got on his arm. So those rumors about the employees not caring are not always true. Apparently, this guy had been training with several of the reptiles trying to get them comfortable with him. This really impressed me. My only issue was my bearded dragon from here did not live very long. But any other pet we have gotten from here has been healthy. Also, when I've had issues with our reptile lighting from here they have always replaced them. I love that they have special events for reptiles, when most stores forget all about the scaley babies. It was alot of fun when they did the halloween dress up contest for reptiles, and I really enjoyed seeing all the cute turtles, monitors and beardies in their gear. I also enjoy being on the pet pals program and have received great deals and coupons this way. I highly recommend signing up if you are a regular here. read more

Took our dog to be groomed and she came home in extensive pain. Her tail and hindquarter are completely raw and bleeding. She is babying her side, walks uncomfortably, yelps in pain and is only somewhat okay when she sits. We found a lump on her side, which leads us to believe a rib could be broken. Will absolutely NEVER utilize this company for grooming services or otherwise again. When we called about vet service they said nothing was available until Monday and told us to go to an ER vet. We were sold two leopard geckos and wanted to return one of them because it was getting bullied by the other one. We called and talked to Alyssa and she gave us the okay to return the animal even though they weren't taking returns cause of COVID-19. Once we arrived, she did not greet us and mumbled things under her breath saying things like "This is ridiculous." She then swiped our gecko off the counter and it hit the floor. She then proceeded to tell another associate to pick up the gecko and put it in the back and shrugged it off. After we finished getting food for the rest of our pets, she opened up the door and we told her "Thank you." She didn't acknowledge us and closed the door quickly after we left. This is why I go to PetSmart over Petco. The customer service here was the worst I've seen in a while. read more

Very happy with the quality of the work and the way they treat our pet. My only real issue is that this is the second time they have failed to contact me when they were finished. I had to call and find out she had been ready for an hour or longer. We don't like her in the cage waiting any longer than necessary so I get irritated when they don't contact me as soon as she is finished and ready. read more

I usually love Petco; However, I was appalled by my recent visit. I am an animal lover, like most of you out there, especially snakes... When I walked into this store, I saw an emerald tree boa housed in a disastrous enclosure. Chondros are 100% arboreal and spend their entire lives in trees. Their bodies are especially adapted for such a setting, and it will eventually die if improperly cares for. This poor snake didn't even have a stick to climb on, let alone the right heat, humidity, and substrate. It's sickening neglect. The associates are afraid to handle the poor animal; however, it's aggression is a result of its terrible housing. They were well aware of its actual care requirements, but were unwilling to change the animal's habitat. If you care about animals avoid this place. All of god's creatures deserve our respect, even if you don't like snakes read more
