My cat is known to have mood swings, but the lady here is so knowledgeable at what she does and we have never had any issues. Our long hair domestic cat loves it and is always very happy afterwards. I really want to leave a good review because the employees in the grooming area are great with my puppy and alway polite. Unfortunately, like a few other reviews, the hours listed just aren't the true hours. I walked there and arrived at 5:26 today to get my dog's nails trimmed. I stood in the grooming room for 5 minutes before I walked out and asked if they were open. I was told they left. I brought up that the hours say 6pm and was just told they left, nothing more. I was offered a discount, but at that point I decided to go across the street to Petco. It's so unprofessional and really isn't a good thing when you see the same reviews for the same exact scenario. To top it all off, the nail service is more expensive on the weekends. I wonder how often the days before the prices go up, the employees are leaving early? Seems to be a pretty convenient coincidence. Considering this has been brought up multiple times, and closing more than a half hour early still shows that either their customer's reviews aren't taken seriously or they just don't care. When I booked my appointment the lady told me my cat needed a rabies shot in order to come in. She never specified on it being within the last two years. When I showed up for my appointment they wouldn't take her because it has been 3 years and it wasn't "current". There is no time line on the online grooming salon page on PetSmarts website stating any sort of item besides being "current". I was really happy for her to get groomed and now I'm just upset. I attached a picture of the salon "standards" on line. The word current doesn't equal 2 years. I understand company policy but you need to be very particular and actually list details online. This review is specifically for the grooming department and the manager, Courtney, in particular. I found Courtney when I was looking for a cat groomer which is difficult as it is. She bathed our cat, gave him an amazing haircut, and at that point I decided to take our dogs to her as well. I have been to several groomers in San Diego and my dogs are always, always, always scared and unhappy with all of them. Finally, they found someone they really like which is shocking. Courtney is wonderful, accommodating and an excellent groomer and communicator. Both my maltipoos run to her when they see her and we are very happy with her and the services that are provided at Petsmart. I would highly recommend Courtney and the pleasant staff she manages for all grooming needs. I would also suggest giving her a raise before anyone else tries to steal her away! read more

We went to buy a fish and get some information on how to do it right and what dishes got a long together. That sales person was nice but not very helpful, she did not tell us what we needed to set up a tank and have it ready for the fish. We had to come back after reading in google what to do first even thinking of having a fish. Also fishes have a very depressing habitat, small tanks, no where to hide, maybe not even the right temperature...some of them where dead! That was the cherry of the cackle she just took it out put it in a bag and tossed it to the trash! In fact not of people that are looking to adopt a pet? That's just rude! read more

I took my senior dog there to be groomed who was walking fine before but when I picked him up he could not use his back legs. It was very sad as he could not even hold himself up to drink from his water bowl. I asked if they dropped him and they said no. I did notice a big turnover in groomers there but had not heard the TV stories yet of the many other dogs injured or dead after visits to various PetSmarts. I trusted them and the next time just went for a bath for my little guy and when I went back hours later he was in the back soaking wet as they worked on other dogs. Again when he left he was not happy as he used to be after being groomed or bathed but rather traumatized. He died shortly thereafter. PETSMART NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! read more

I volunteer with Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego which does events here every other month. The staff is very nice and helpful.

I dont know what it is about this store, but every other petsmart i go to, i get rude service and dont get attended to if i need assistance. At this petsmart, Im always greeted with a smile, and if i need help finding something, they are always happy to help. Makenzie is almost always there when i come in. She knows that I have many animals that need tending too and food (etc...) and is so knowledgeable and friendly with her service. The other staff that i have spoken too about advice are very nice as well. Overall, this store is great. read more

Customer service at this location sucks..... needed help getting a dog cage and the cashier looked sluggish and appeared that I was bothering her by asking her for a favor..... isn't that your job? Second cashier was also rude as I tried to put in my Banfield employee discount and wasn't sure why it was going though... I tired several times to put in my code and it wasn't working. He got flustered and was talking to the other cashier and said "yeah after this transaction I'm finally going home." Implying that I was taking up his time.... like wait you guys get paid to do this right? Maybe the management should hire employees that are at least somewhat motivated and put a smile on even if it's a fake one... zero customer service here, id rather give my business to Petco although I get discounts here. read more

For more than 20 years I have used dog groomers. Adopted a new dog last year and have been taking her to Pet Smart on Garnet. The grooming was fine, but 2 days ago her anal glands ruptured - very expensive hospital visit requiring surgery. Never have I had to ask a groomer to check the anal glands - it was an automatic procedure. Not so with this establishment! I find it hard to believe a groomer, just 6 weeks ago, would not notice the glands needed attention. read more

Very disappointed in the grooming service. Made an appointment for my dog for just a bath and was told it would take 2-3 hrs when I got there. Came back after 3 hours without hearing from PetSmart to find out they had left my dog in the kennel and had done nothing with him. I was told the reason they had done nothing was because there were a lot of walk ins. Very sad that a place that should be taking care of dogs can lock them in a cage and forget about them for hours on end. read more

I think it's great that there is finally a pet'smart in pacific beach!! But I would drive further for better customer service/ knowledgeable employees. I picked out the parakeet I wanted but couldn't find anyone to get him out of the cage. I couldn't find anyone that worked there. I went up to the front and had to ask the cashier if she could help me get the bird. She said she would get someone for me. I go back to the cage and wait for someone. Finally a boy sees me and asks me if I needed help.... I told him I wanted the blue one and he asked me if I wanted it's wings clipped. I should have said no... I have no idea what they did back there but when I finally got home I let the bird out of his box and he could fly perfectly. I had to clip his wings myself. read more

I was picking up crickets this evening & the first guy I encountered slammed the cricket door shut, shaking the whole house they live in (which made me feel terrible for the little crickets). Bailey has recieve a few phone calls from me regarding flea medicine, and what my kitten needs to be healthy and happy. I don't normally leave reviews but I absolutely LOVE this location. The people here are amazingly friendly and helpful; I took my dog in because she's gotten really bad on a leash and I ended up getting 2 wonderful women to help me out in finding a harness, one was even the PetSmart dog trainer! My dog can also be very nervous if she isn't in there just for toys and treats so it was spectacular to see how they spoke softly and calming while dealing with her. I've also taken my dog in to the grooming here and she saw Nick, he did a wonderful job, my dog looks adorable. Thanks you guys! read more

I shopped around Pacific Beach and La Jolla for months to find a dog groomer that we were happy with. My search is over. Courtney at Petsmart on Garnet is fantastic!! She took the time to get to know our dog, asked lots of questions, was caring and listened to what we wanted. I have not felt comfortable in the past leaving my dog at with groomers. Until now. To the point where I think the shady dressed girl that came out of the back and said they always close at 530 but corporate doesn't issues stickers for that so they just close whenever.... If you need feeder crickets, don't buy them here. Their "large" crickets are about half the size of those sold in other stores, and any that aren't eaten right away die within 24 hours. I've kept crickets from other stores alive for a week. read more

Disgusting customer service . They tell you AFTER you use clippers and want to return them, that you cannot return them, no matter whether you are happy with them or not. I will DEFINITELY NOT BE BACK HERE FOR ANYTHING. read more
