PetSmart has everything you need for your pet. I personally feed my dog Hill's Science Diet and his favorite is the chicken & barley recipe. I usually buy smaller bags weekly to keep it fresh, and they always seem to have deals sometimes buy two, save $15, but even when that's not running, there's usually some kind of discount. Definitely take a walk around the store too, their clearance section is underrated .I found emergency dog food for $0.51 that was originally $5. They're always rotating products, so you're not getting old stuff sitting on shelves, and that really stands out at this store . Great customer service, A+. Another thing that really stands out is they have an adoption center for cats which is awesome. As you know, shelters are overcrowded, so seeing them help out and take care of some of these animals says a lot. It shows they actually care about pets, not just selling products. I feel really bad not getting the employee's name but I came in the other day with a clogged up filter for my aquarium, looking for a replacement. Turns out, I just needed to be educated on how to open and clean out the pump. No replacement needed! The aquarium staff went above and beyond. He cleaned out my pump, showed me how to do it in the future, and saved me quite a bit of money. I really appreciated it! read more

Get your animal groomed by the amazing pink haired sunshine human being Ashley. She is a wizard with scissors, and I've seen her turn dogs who resemble the dog from The Sandlot to piles of cuddly sweet mushy babies. She is the Vidal Sassoon of animal grooming. Petsmart lucked out the second she walked through those doors. Not only did she give my dog the most vogue-esc coiffure, he came home smelling like blueberry muffins, was so happy and knew he looked good, but she is the sweetest, classiest, most well mannered individual I have ever met. While I was standing in line to pay, some lunatic lady was swearing obscenities about how her though her dog "allegedly" bit the other staff and attempted to go for the other animals numerous times, he didn't "draw f****** blood or send anyone to the f****** hospital" so he should be "welcomed back" and "thanked" for her business. Ashley handled it with the compassion, poise, and patience of a thousand nuns. I was so impressed and so proud that Ashley is the person who grooms my pup and works at my neighborhood Petsmart. Shout out to Ashley and thank you for being so wonderful at everything you do. As long as you're around for me to bring my pup to so he can always look and feel his best, this Petsmart will be the place we go for all our four leg'geds needs. read more

GROOMING REVIEW: While living in San Diego for the past year, I've been visiting different petsmart grooming locations, to find one that my dog LOVES. She's a very anxious dog and gets so scared being at the groomers. Yesterday I finally checked out the pacific beach location since they had the best availability that fit my current schedule... but I will 1000% make sure to continue going to this location, exclusively. I booked with Jayna but I have to admit all of the staff was eager and BEYOND helpful. Since my dog is a nervous wreck, they did mention that her session would take a little longer than most because they don't want to stress her out and let her get comfortable, which was so so reassuring to hear. It's hard to explain but i truly felt like they cared for her and all of the other dogs in the salon, like their own. My boyfriend came with me to grab our dog, and even he mentioned how loving and patient they were with the dogs. At the previous locations we've visited over the year, we always have great customer service and communication, but this location really had LOVE in their work. read more

Grooming review! Long time coming. I've gone to Petsmart for about a year. They really listen to my want and needs for the cut and they do a great job! Isabella did so good highly recommend. They will take the extra 20-30 mins ($$) to dematt and brush as well. I've had groomers in the past who just shave their entire body instead of taking the time to get the matts out. My dog and I love coming to this PetSmart, and we both love love love the grooming salon! Today was our first appointment at the salon. Our stylist Courtney walked up us while we were outside and immediately started to get to know my dog. My dog is an obscure breed (Coton de Tulear) and Courtney was familiar with them. They have a particular kind of hair that is difficult to manage. Courtney knew immediately how to treat it and how to trim it. When I came back a few hours later my dog was beautifully coiffed and so happy. Courtney told me how everything went and I was a happy and satisfied customer. This salon has great hours and is located in a convenient location. I love how I can drop my dog off at the salon and do my pet shopping at the same time. The workers are nice and caring and they absolutely love animals. I don't think I could find a more caring or attentive groomer if I tried. I will definitely come back. read more

I've never received such terrible experience at a Petsmart grooming location. I dropped my dog off at 9am. No one asked me about pick-up time or gave me a time estimate. They called me 4.5 hours later. The Store Manager, Chandler, told me that I needed to pick my dog up in the next 30 minutes or else they were going to charge me to take my dog to the bathroom. I told them that I needed a little bit of flexibility because I had meetings. They asked if anyone else could pick my dog up - to which I answered no because I am a single woman, new to San Diego. I told them that they did not need to take my dog to go to the bathroom, but they would not help me at all. I guess it is their store policy to not keep a dog over 5 hours. However, the haircut itself took 4.5 hours. They blamed it on my dog needing "breaks" - my dog is only 6 years old and has never had an issue at any groomers. They even charged me to brush out a matte in his ear - something else that I've never experienced. This location has lost my business. I'd rather drive an extra ten minutes to receive the service that I deserve. Chandler - you made this experience terrible. Your grooming staff deserves better. read more

But I could have done a better job myself at cutting them out and her not looking like a completely different dog! Will never go back here. I would have called me before doing this. My regular PetSmart is the La Jolla location but I had to come here to get my pup groomed because the La Jolla location did not have any availability. This location is smack dab in the middle of PB and there is plenty of parking right in front of it. The store seems a little smaller than the La Jolla location but the staff here is super friendly. The groomers were really nice as well. They did a great job on my pup. I recommend! read more

This review is mainly for grooming - specifically Nick. We have gone to him for all of Kalliopea's (our doberman pinscher) life. We've since moved to north county and still drive down just for her appointments with Nick. The company is so lucky to have him, he provides a boutique feel with his service for your pet, the quality of work is superb and he's so knowledgeable on products and only when it's needed. He recommended paw balm for Kalliopea's paws not as an up sale but recommended the best ingredients (remembering her allergies) affordable product which I appreciated very much! When I get my hair done I love the experience, the pampering and the conversation I have with my stylist. Kalliopea is beyond excited when she's seeing Nick, I can tell she just loves him almost as much as we do- ESPECIALLY- since he's the only person she allows to cut her nails ! read more

My dog always sits in the crate for hours because other people run behind. If other people are late knowing they have an appointment, petsmart should require them to reschedule given they affect everybody for the rest of the day. why should my daily schedule be affected by someone who runs an hour late who has the first appointment in the morning? I made a morning appointment and I either would've had to let my dog sit in the cage for several extra hours because they decided to take in someone who was an hour late, or reschedule. It's really frustrating that they don't have a better system. This has happened several times before where I go in after two hours and they haven't even got to her yet. I never said anything previously but it's just an increased pattern and it's irritating to continuously have to reschedule. At bare minimum I would have hoped they would have given me a courtesy call any of the times that this has happened, but they haven't. I understand that they take certain dogs first because of priority for maybe a certain status that the owner has with Petsmart, but at the same time my dog doesn't deserve to be punished because there is not an effective system in place. If these elite members are late to bring their dog in then they should go the next morning. From my understanding they have special hours that normal members don't have access to. I assume the Dog was supposed to be at 8 AM and at 9 AM instead. That literally pushes back every single appointment for the day. They need to learn how to say no and turn people like that away after 15 minutes or whatever time they so choose.. I love the Petsmart groomers but the company needs to change their system. It's unfair and causes people to seek services elsewhere. read more

My pup can be a little difficult sometimes when it comes to handling her nails and the blow drying but Courtney continues to take great care of her and receive excellent results. Unbelievable customer disrespect at this location! I will never shop at this store again. I came in to return an item and wanted to buy it with a store credit I had, which I thought I had lost. I recently had purchased a bunch of stuff and when I found my store credit a couple of days ago I figured go use it before you lose it again. I had my receipts, my credit card, I was within return policy time frame... not a big deal right? Wrong!!!! When I first got there the cashier was nice young man, but the line started forming and he called someone to help, I went to her and let him take the next guess, that was a good call on his part, except the woman who came to help was not pleased about it, the first thing out of her mouth was not a greeting or anything, it was her expressing her frustration that the cashier had not done the return himself. She said " ugh why didn't he just do it?! It's just a return!" I just looked at her thinking how odd, when the line was long and he was the only cashier open. She then Kept saying how it was weird that I wanted to purchase the item with the store credit after returning it, "no one does that,!" "why didn't you pay with the store credit when you got it?" Well obviously I didn't have it! She even made a comment that my duplicate receipts (they had just printed) were from two different stores... (it was only one item but the young man happened to print the last two) I felt very uncomfortable with her comments she said she was gonna "allow me" to do it, but only this one time... Wtf!? So I finally got fed up with her comments and her tone so I asked for the manager to my surprise, she said she was the manager, I couldn't believe it, she was so unprofessional! The so called "manager" was such a rude condescending racist woman! So I asked her to call her supervisor, a gentleman came right away and she started going on about the return, I told him that was not the reason why I had asked for him, but because of the way she was treating me, but she kept talking over me when I was talking to him, rolling her eyes and even smiling sarcastically! Completely disrespectful.. I told her I was glad she didn't work at a bank, she would probably not allow anyone to do withdrawals as she was acting like it was a thousand dollars and not a $20 item, to what her response was a laugh! Wtf!! So the supervisor said he would make an exception this one time and that yes people don't do this... I don't give a damn what others do, I'm not doing anything illegal or wrong! You don't have to make an exception because there is no rule about it! So I told them to forget it cus I was getting treated as if I was trying to scam them or steal something, I told him I will bring back all the stuff I have bought in the last three months, customers deserve to be treated respectfully! Even if you think something is odd, if it's not illegal then what the heck is it to you? And you never voice your judgmental thoughts to customers! So when I was about to leave she wanted to keep the receipts!! This was a less than $20 item, I could understand if it had been electronics, high price or if I didn't have my receipts, I spent hundreds of dollars at pet stores for the 5 dogs I have, 3 fosters and 2 of my own, besides the stuff I donate to animal shelters regularly, for these people to act this way, it's unbelievable and I'm taking my business elsewhere. I could have returned the item then buy it some other day, but since I was not doing anything wrong I figured let's just say it like it is... I guess since this white woman saw a Hispanic girl dressed casually, prejudice took precedence... but I think she is just a nasty person all around to not see helping the cashier with the line so customers don't have to wait a good call, it's beyond me! I called customer service for petsmart, they could not believe what had happened and assured me that treating customers that way was not aligned with their values. The lady on the phone didn't think it was odd or a big deal to want to use my store credit. Nor is it against any store policy to do so. This is a nice, new Petsmart with easy parking. We take our large Goldendoodle here for baths. It's easy to make an online appointment. They typically have same day availability. The staff is very friendly to us and our dog. They are efficient, and he despite his huge size, he's usually done in about two hours. The only critique I have is that our dog is really fluffy. The brushing and fluffing of his coat is inconsistent: sometimes it's perfect, othe times it needed a little more effort. Overall, I recommend Petsmart grooming. I'm disappointed in the lack of friendliness and service at this store. The clerks are more often not at the check-out counter. This morning, for the second time, I suggested to the clerk that the heavy litter containers be placed at a level I can reach. She said she was just following corporate guidelines. I said I knew she was just doing her job and suggested she pass on my concern. She said she would but in a very unfriendly way, like she couldn't care less. Grooming hours apparently close right at 6pm on Tuesdays. I stood in the grooming area waiting for someone, then walked out to ask the cashier as one of the groomers was coming towards the front. I just needed to get my dogs glands expressed and was told everything had been closed up for the day. I bring my cat here to get his summer shave down. They are truly experts at what they do. My cat is known to have mood swings, but the lady here is so knowledgeable at what she does and we have never had any issues. Our long hair domestic cat loves it and is always very happy afterwards.
