I ordered cans of cat food to be delivered to my house because my car is in the shop. What was dropped off was a giant bag of world's best kitty litter that my cat will not "poop" in. I called the store and they told me that the only way they could help me was to bring in the bag of kitty litter. The store is theoretically within walking distance but not carrying a giant bag of kitty litter. I had to hang up and call the general customer service number to get someone who actually re-issued the order so that I could feed my cat. The worst part is that I paid an $8 tip and they 1. royally messed up and 2. did nothing to correct the issue. I should have known better as I have ordered delivery from this store approximately 4 times before, and they have always gotten the order wrong but never before by such a wide margin. Another pet peeve I have about this store is that they don't let you take the shopping carts out of the store so you need to be able to carry everything you purchase. That is you need to be able to carry everything you purchased from the door to the far reaches of the parking lot. This is why I order litter and most items via Chewy. Thirdly, the last time I was there the man at the register would not bag my purchases and I had to do it myself. Fourth, they don't let you use the in store restroom and make you go to CVS if you are shopping and have to pee. With that said, I gave them 2 stars because they are less bad than the nearby PetSmart. Rather than your below apologies you can start with promptly correcting the issue. I'm absolutely done using Petco for grooming. This was the last straw. I called ahead to let them know I'd be slightly late and was told I'd be fine as long as I arrived within 15-20 minutes. I showed up in 12 minutes and they had already canceled my appointment. It's unbelievable. You spend hours grooming dogs but can't extend even a few minutes of flexibility for a customer who communicated ahead of time and still made it within the window you gave. That's not just poor service, it's disrespectful. There's clearly no regard for customers' time or effort. I won't be coming back. read more

Well Coming here to look around and I was looking for a Bata and this location sometimes have sales on there Batas . So we look around and they carry lots of different types of pets here and a couple of Tarantulas and liizards plus there fish section is pretty cool also . We walk around this location and it is a pet store for your everyday pets needs !! They do have other pets here also !! As for the Service here it is pretty cool compared to the others . We do enjoy coming to this location . As for prices it is decent compared to Petsmart . Overall good experience and nice service . I sure can see myself coming back again . read more

She goes above and beyond when it comes to working out his matted hair on his face (even after I've said, it's fine shave it). She's the absolute best and always leave Spyro looking like a cute little teddy bear. Been going here for grooming for almost 2 years. This time they cut BOTH my dogs ears. I noticed when I got home and figured it wasn't a big deal. Few days later I brought him back in to show the manager the scabs and he said they would have taken him to the vet right away and called me. Well they didn't. He said I could buy an ointment and get a 30% discount on the box but I said I probably don't need it. A week later it gets worse. Go to the vet and it's infected. $120 later I go back to petco. Manager said it's been more than 7 days so there policy doesn't cover anything. I'm not big on reviews but Jason I think is the store managers name. Said he would do what he could and call me back. Never did. Very disappointed in the service here. All I wanted was them to make it right. Pay the vet bill, offer a free haircut. But I got nothing. I wouldn't recommend bringing your dog here for grooming. Cici the lead groomer and she's amazing. Store manager do better. read more

I specifically requested a trim. The merchant instead shaved my dog entirely without my consent. The grooming was performed with such negligence that my dog sustained multiple cuts and abrasions cross her body. Due to the merchant's poor hygiene or handling practices, my dog also developed a severe ear infection and urinary infection immediately following the appointment. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. This Petco location is extremely disappointing, especially because of the manager, Christine, who showed no kindness or compassion. As a Petco member and a cat owner, I came to the store to shop for my pets. When I politely asked to use the restroom, I was refused saying it was for employees only. I've visited other Petco and PetSmart locations before, and I've never had an issue using the restroom as a customer. This kind of treatment makes me question how this manager treats animals in her care if she can't even show basic respect to human customers. I honestly don't even know where to start. I brought my pet into the bathing and grooming section at Petco thinking it would be a simple, clean experience, but it turned into a mess real quick. I saw the names Mercedes and Azalea on their name tags, and it felt like I walked into their personal hangout instead of a business because there was way more talking and laughing than actually helping customers. I waited way longer than I was told with barely any updates, and when I finally tried to ask what was going on, I got short answers that made it seem like I was bothering them. The whole area looked kind of disorganized too, which is not what you want to see in a place that's supposed to be cleaning pets. My pet did not come out looking how I expected either, especially for how long it took. Overall, the vibes were off, the service felt unprofessional, and it just wasn't a good experience at all I definitely won't be coming back to this grooming section. read more

Manager working from 5:30 to 6 PM on January 31, 2026 had extreme nasty attitude over the phone with me implying that I was stupid. She then Unwelcomed me from coming into the store, and is turning down business and redirecting people from your store. I was told over the phone from this location earlier in the day, that Vetco does walk-ins from 4:30-5:00 and 5:30 -6:00. I was even recommended to go in at the later time if I didn't want to stand in line because last time I had booked an actual appointment and they treated me as a walk-in so I waited in line for an hour just to get one vaccine for my pet. So when I was outside at 5:40, I called just to double check that I could do a walk in before I got out of the car with my animal and went into the store and that's when the manager got on the phone and basically everyone I talked to on the phone was implying that I'm stupid and telling me that the people get to leave if there's no walk-ins and that it's too late for me to walk in, even though this was during the timeframe they take walk-ins and I was about to walk in. Good thing I called so that I could leave this review instead of causing a scene in the store because I don't like being disrespected by a stranger when I am trying to spend money at your facility. I will never be OK with being disrespected for absolutely no reason, and just for asking an innocent question like I did earlier and that person didn't disrespect me, and they weren't even the manager. I understand if you're tired and you want to go home - everyone works a 9 to 5 including myself, u surround myself with people who works 12-14 hour days regularly and do not behave like this, it is inexcusable. It's not OK to disrespect strangers just because they are through the phone and you think there's no consequences. You lost a weekly customer and member. I will take my money elsewhere. read more

I ordered dog food on repeat delivery on Oct. 25. The food came Oct. 27. On Oct. 28 I got an email that they were mailing my order. I called to cancel the duplicate delivery and got transferred around speaking to people that didn't understand me and all they said was NO WORRIES and I can't help you after nearly 2 hours. The next day I tried again and got NOWHERE!!! THEN, the order got delivered while I was gone! A 27# bag of food blocking my screen door!!! NO, Petco couldn't pick it up or move it for 3 to 4 days!!! Door Dash delivered it and after an hour of being transferred 6 times I was told that the department that should help me get this bag picked up or moved was NOT ANSWERING THEIR PHONE!!! So here I sit, 24 hours later, with my front door trapped shut and NO CANCELLATION OR REFUND FROM PETCO ON MY CREDIT CARD!!!! BTW, the first order that was delivered I had to move into the house myself and it had a GIANT BLACK WIDOW that crawled off of it!! Went on the app today and found PB had appts available. We took my dog for 12:45pm on a Saturday. Upon arrival we noticed the grooming center was packed and very disorganized. We asked if they were under staffed and could still take my dog. They assured us everything was fine. We normally take him to a different location and it takes 1.5 tops for a groom. Normally 45min to and hour. We waited an hour and half and I began to worry since this isn't the normal place. Maybe they didn't have my phone number. Went up to the desk. Asked when my dog would be done and they said "our grooming takes anywhere from 2-3 hours. We are under staffed" WHAT? I made an appt. And asked you if you could take him on as I could see they were under staffed. He is a small dog. I said how much longer. The lady said well idk your groomer is working on another dog. Kept my cool. Waited another 45 mins before he was done. He was still wet. Full dog some other dogs hair. His wee wee is not clean. I will need to give him a bath tomorrow. I will never go back here again if it the last place open. Other locations are different PB do better and say you were under staffed to begin with. She always has the best attitude when I am in there, which is multiple times a week... even on a busy day she took the time to call and sit on the phone with Vital Care to merge my accounts for me!!! I was avoiding doing this myself bc I had always sat on hold, and could never justify the time spent, but Kelli offered to help me out, and did so with no qualms and a smile on her face!! My Chihuahua, Pepper, got her rabie shot today ($25). The whole process went smoothly. I made an appointment online for Oct. 9th, 3pm. Day before, I got a text to respond to confirm or cancel. Day of, I got a text of instructions to arrive 15min early and stay in my car until the vet texts me. I showed up and followed all instructions. Met the vet and his staff. Team vet took good care of my Pepper. I waited only a few minutes after the shot to get paperwork and be on my way. My Sheeba has had a wild year, with the loss of her sister and moving to a new city, she began over grooming. Plucking tufts of fur right out of her coat. When I went into Petco, the kind manager guided me into a pheromone spray to diffuse in the home. I started with a spray to put around her cat tower and favorite spots. It works wonders. Waited for a few minutes near an employee who was busy assisting another customer, once the employee was finished I asked for help with getting crickets. The employee (bearded male, not sure of his name) told me to wait in the checkout line and have whoever was there assist me and announce that I needed crickets. Fast forward to paying for crickets, the cashier making a call for help, and me waiting for the cashier to make a second announcement due to the lack of help...and the male employee who sent me away walked up with a few items, including a bag of crickets in hand...and he checked out with the cashier right in front of me. I guess all those items and bag of crickets were for him. I could understand being finished with your work day, but the fact that he specifically knew I needed crickets, sent me away to another employee, then proceed to bag and buy crickets for himself just felt like a slap in the face. Went to another Petco to check to see if they had baby leopard geckos, but they only had juveniles so I ended up calling another one and they did have some but still not small enough. I called Pacific Beach location and Brian answered with an energetic and enthusiastic description. He told me that he had two baby leopard geckos ready to go when I got there. He was happy to show me around and got me set up with equipment and information on how to take care of the gecko. My dogs and I absolutely love this place. It has such a huge selection of dog supplies. They always have what I need. I find myself coming by here even though there is a closer location to my house. The staff here is very friendly and quick to give your puppies some attention. They also are willing to always help you find what you need. I do a lot of online pick up here because it is quick and available in a short amount of time. We love coming here for our supplies of dog treats because they have almost everything that you are looking for. It looks like their inventory is bigger than the others around the area because I can always find my bag of dog food here that is not available at the other locations close to here. read more

WARNING FOR ALL PET OWNERS. You may lose your pet FOREVER if you get groomed here. Would give no stars if I could. This is based on our experience picking up our dog from the groomers 9/2/21. There needs to be better checks and balances with the pick up process. Here's what happened. We're in line to pick up our dog and some guy in front of us is in line to pick up a dog as well. This guy seemed confused and said he was picking up someone else's dog under the name Cindy and looked like a "chewbacca". The girl at the front desk hands over some paper work and now it's our turn. We proceed to the front and say we're picking up our Yorkie named Bocci under my name Cindy. The girl at the front desk seemed confused. She says we only have 1 small dog in the back and decides to run after the guy who's about to pay for "his" dog. Turns out, since this isn't the guy's dog, he has no clue if he's at the right location or picking up the right dog. And because this isn't his dog, he wouldn't have been able to distinguish it once he picked up OUR dog and left. We would have lost our dog. We got lucky because we were right behind this guy. If we showed up even 5 mins later, we could have lost our dog to some random stranger. He wasn't even in the system so we would have lost our dog forever. So MANAGEMENT RETHINK THE PICK UP PROCESS. I'm just thankful that we were there to intervene in the mistake before it was too late. read more

Don't take your dog here for vaccines if you can avoid it. I did, and given that my dog is approximately 10 years old, they only gave him 3 of the 5 vaccines offered, which I trust is good medical practice. However, when I requested they put that in writing so I could pass it along to a prospective dog kennel to board my dog the next week, they adamantly refused to write this because "they aren't a full service vet" ?? Apparently writing one sentence and signing it is above their paygrade. But here's the disgusting part: I told them nicely why I needed this note because I was going out of town the next week and needed to have it in writing to board my dog at a kennel. They actually advised me to GO TO ANOTHER VET THAT DAY FOR THE REMAINING VACCINES. If you deem it unsafe on my ~10 year old dog, why the fuck are you telling me to risk his safety somewhere else? Horrible experience for what should have been a very easy solution. Their customer service is disorganized, because the first woman I spoke to said it's "not their policy" to write such a note for a paying customer. I then spoke to her supervisor who said "writing that is up to the vet's discretion." Is it company policy or not? read more

This is a review long coming. I love this Petco. At this point I go in often enough I know a few of the employees. Today I had some little issue with a return (had to find a one to fit my nugget post a neuter) and the system was just simply being a butthead. Kelli did her best to fix the issue, and threw the Hail Mary to Madison who scored the TD to win the game. (I'm watching football so, bear with me) THANK YOU for just the effort of trying to help rather than resort to another option that isn't a great for the customer. Madison in the past sat on the floor in an aisle with me going through a few harnesses for my now 9.5 month old 60 lb puppy. Not that I'm completely clueless, but having someone tell their personal opinions and usages and different things just makes decisions that much easier. Also, trainer, Adam, I did the hour puppy lesson with him, and intend on doing more, but a few financial things got in the way, still he is so knowledgeable and truly loves animals, LOVES dogs. He was at the front desk today, remembered me and asked "how is the big nugget?" Last night, I forget her name, but Samira? Was very helpful in my deciding between which cone to grab my pup. (This morning was returning the one that did not fit) It's just an overall friendly environment whenever I'm in there. WIN WIN WIN. read more

The reason for the 2 stars is for the 2 restrooms being closed off. They want customers to go and shop there, but they refuse to let them use the restrooms and suggest that customers go to another store that they're not even shopping at to use the restrooms there, which is pretty unprofessional on their part. We were planning to buy a bunch of stuff for our fish tanks, but I guess we're not going to support a store that couldn't accommodate their customers. read more
