While I have run into PetSmart before for treats, my wife and I now frequent PetSmart as new pet owners. With their holiday sales and events, I wanted to swing by and stock up on food toppers for my golden doodle. We haven't been to this location before but happened to be nearby and ran inside for a quick visit. It was easy to find my item, and there was no line up at one of the registers. The toppers were on discount, and I also had a coupon which was able to be stacked. I also saw staff members walking around should I have needed help. There was also an event taking place at the time. We also took a few minutes to look around the store at other supplies and getting a sense as to what the deals and special offerings are and how to use the app and Treats Rewards loyalty program (https://www.petsmart.com/treats-rewards.html). Pet services including grooming, pet classes, hotel boarding, doggie day camp, vet care, adoptions, pharmacy, and a learning center. I am looking to surprise my two boys with a new cat. Went to the cat adoption center and the woman was just returning to run the 5:00pm shift tonight. I said "hi we're here to meet and pet some kitties". Without asking any clarifying question; she simply discriminated and said "no, we're an adoption center" and wouldn't let us in. Didn't even ask if we were looking to adopt (which we are). I said "well we've always been allowed to in the past" (because we've been here a couple of times looking for our forever cat) to which she said "not on my watch" and pretty much closed the door in our face. I didn't catch her name, but this woman is a disservice to your adoption center, and quite frankly, just a rude, condescending person. PETSMART INJURED MY DOG BY THEIR NEGLEGENCE PT 3 to continue... i told jamie holloway, that i disagreed with his and the vets finding, and that i wasn't being unfair. the accident clarissa informed me of clearly happened,and clearly made my dogs acl injury worse as evidenced by the fact that he could no longer do what he could do before the accident ,i.e. getting into and out of my car by himself and up on to and off of the bed on his own. i wanted them to admit culpability ,take some accountability and responsibility, and contribute to his care, either by covering the cost of an mri, (which they could do at one of their banfield locations) possibly contribute to surgery cost as their accident made things worse. he informed me he'd consult with his team and get back to me. he did a week or so later, informing me that because their vet said he had a pre exisiting condition, WHICH I'D INFORMED THEM OF MULTIPLE TIMES, and was "walking fine" and "IF" there was an accident ,it didnt do anything to rocker, and they would not be paying for /provididinng the mri ,or any contributions at all etc. he said he'd send me a list of clinics etc that offer payment plans etc. which he did. but ...bottom line , this happened. jamie holloway, the miller rd store mgr etc, are all denying it. not only are they neglegent and responsible for hurting my dog, they are dishonest, shady, disingenuine, and to add further insult to literal injury, LIARS. i currently have legal counsel and am pursuing all avenues of action. i was hoping to avoid further ,possibly legal, ugliness, but jamie holloway, and petsmart ceo ken c. hicks, insist on maintaining there lies and denial.so.... beware of going to pesmart for grooming. sorry this was so long in 3 pts, but i wanted to be thorough. i will be sharing this awful , true experience on all review platforms as well as social media and with my friend who works at a phx news station ,with their very popular consumer watchdog reporter. i'll keep you posted. be careful people- if you wish to contact me for further comment, you may email me at : travisl.gray@yahoo.com read more

I do not recommend this grooming salon. I didn't know it was possible to shave a dog so unevenly. I brought my mini poodle in for a groom and asked that he be evenly shaved everywhere. He came home with a long, uneven mustache and the most patchy shave job I've ever seen. I've spent the past day scissor trimming every section so I'm not embarrassed when I take him out for a walk. I gave one extra star since the employee that created this abomination was at least friendly. read more

Smaller Petsmart store in Scottadale- easy access and tons of parking. I had every staff member say hello, greet me, ask if I needed help and always had a smile on their faces. I actually saw them helping other customers as well, which is usually rare (I go to Petsmart way toooo often). Ashton was very helpful and was the first cashier to ever request if I wanted to use my Treats Rewards points! Thank you Ashton! I always realize when I get home that I had points- so thank you for offering, I greatly appreciate it. Tip: Price match all items on Chewy.com or Petco.com before you buy them! No. Thank you but no thank you anymore. Used to love bringing my dog here & they loved him and always did a good job on his cut. Past year has gone down hill. Just as we got a groomer we liked, they'd leave. I have been a client here for 3 years. My dog is pushing 17 and it's clear the groomer we booked clearly did not care for elder dogs. Grabbed a res online like I always do to bring my dog in. Last groom I was l told he was a little nervous during his groom. Was advised as I arrived for this appointment I was not allowed to make online reservations as my dog was too nervous during the previous groom. Said would need someone to stand in the salon while my dog had an express service and they would charge me additional $15 on top of the premium services I am already happy to pay for. THAT was NEVER communicated with me previously. Where was express service the last 17 years!? Then mentions "it's for your dog's protection." It was clear, based on results you're not the least bit confident grooming my dog. His haircut was subpar, they showed me they didn't really care to groom him. I'm good, no desire to come back here. We understand low inventory, and short staff- but my goodness!!! The lady, excuse me as she lacked a name tag, was insulting and beyond rude. We started on the wrong foot, apparently, and checked out accordingly.... We used a $50.00 bill, apparently it looked like we would pass a fake bill as the woman used her counterfeit pen not once, but TWICE. Well what can I say, I have been there a few times and my dogs were groomed ok for a resonable price. I recomended them to my Aunt, she went a few days before me and was very upset because the grommer had her dog for 5 hours and did not listen to anything she told the grommer. She said specifically not to shave her dogs butt, and they did. She was VERY unhappy with service. I went in this morning and Never have I been turned away at 8:oo in the morning because my dogs ears had matts in them. Both my dogs getts matts and never have they turned them down? My little one has very bad allergies and he does get matts in his ears. He is on apoqual but this time of the year is still really bad for him. But I guess per petsmarts policy they can not shave the ears? Never heard of that before, all dogs(Especially long hair dogs gets matts). It seems like the groomer just didn't want to groom them. The few times I have been in my dogs have had little matt's so trying to understand why?? So you just lost my business and my Aunt's!. Will will go back to our regular groomer and pay a little more and get someone to follow directions. I know chain pet stores have no standards for their fish on display but the fish section of this particular pet smart is atrocious. Nothing looked healthy. What really caught my attention was the betta fish. The majority of the selection of bettas were dead or seriously ill. I think I counted about 2 healthy-looking bettas. Then there was this extra neglected section that actually sickened me enough to write this review. Picture is attached, showing GREEN WATER in several cups. How long will it take for some employee to notice this? Long enough for that to happen is the unfortunate answer. I know most people think oh well it's just a couple fish who cares. Been coming to PetSmart for years to get my dogs nails trimmed, pet hotels and all general supplies. Showed up today with 2 dogs being worked on currently and 2 of the 4 staff sitting around doing nothing in the grooming room and the turned us down and said we need to make an online appointment for safety reasons, despite always taking walk-ins.. (guess we didn't mind read the paper sign they glue stuck to the door) I'm all about doing things safe during this pandemic, but at this point, logic is OUT the window. In the time it took for the "manager" to walk us back to her "office" and check to see if she could get us in today she could have done the dam job, only to tell us to book an appointment for later in the week.. Would have taken less than 5 minutes and made your company $22 bucks, and they were LITERALLY DOING NOTHING!!!!!... What a JOKE! Luckily I did not mess up the game of angry birds your "safe" employees were playing while losing your company money lounging around and giving me a weird stare for wanting help... I will be going elsewhere for grooming, treats, food, reptile supplies, aquarium supplies and anything else moving forward. Just wanna say for those of you looking to buy some fish, their fish are all diseased and are currently in horribly kept conditions. Every last one of them. Take my advice and look elsewhere. ANYWHERE ELSE. I bought 7 otocinclus and 4 plecos. All 11 fish died, and they brought a nasty parasite into my tanks even after I quarantined them. Killed all of my fish. It was heartbreaking, as I had them for years without any issue. That was a couple months back. Here I am back again just taking a look at what they have and cannot believe what I'm looking at. Over 20 dead neon tetras in this tank, I counted. All infested with ICH badly, and clearly the dead fish have been in there for days, as their little bodies have started to decompose. PetsHotel - A solid back-up option if you can't find a dog sitter or don't have a preferred boarding option available. We boarded our puppy (8 month old) from Sun-Sun during a family winter vacation. We left our older 2 at home to be tended by a friend, but the puppy would have been a bit much. We've seen enough of daycamp and had boarded our other dogs there before to know that the dog would be OK, and when we picked her up, she seemed to be in good shape (though a bit stressed/timid - which we chalked up to her first away-from-home experience). The price was reasonable (first timer discount resulted in a bill less than $400 for the week including daycamp). The check-in and check-out experience were OK, but definitely take the shine off and remind you that you're dealing with a corporation. The check-in was a bit inpersonal and rushed. Pick-up was classic young, disenchanted retail experience. Walked into the empty Petshotel lobby to see younger girl behind the counter talking off to the side with young male (believe another employee, but had a sweatshirt over his Petsmart blue). Got the annoyed side-eye look (presumably for interrupting whatever conversation), and after a few parting looks/words exchanged, she walked over and looked at us (not greeted... that was on us). We let her we wanted to pick up our dog to which she just smiled (I think?) and stared... after a few seconds, impatiently saying, "your name?". She rang us up uneventfully and went to grab our dog. When she left the room, my wife asked "is she awake?"... to which, I really had to think about it a second - that was the energy. Awesome. In the end, both were competent, but neither would be examples of what one might call "good experiences". It's fine, and I've come to expect that lack of interest and total disenchantment with the business in the modern retail environment. It serves a purpose and provides a solid, reliably safe environment to board your dogs if you don't have a better option. read more

As we walked in, a large, threatening woman with a dog rescue verbally assaulted us and I can say 1. We won't be donating to rescue and 2. We were in this store for a crazy amount of time waiting to get helped. I had to ask three different associates to send help over to the fish section. The last associate I asked was Steven and he came back to help us. Steven helped us out with getting snails and a moss ball for our fish tank. He was super knowledgeable and was able to tell us which fish would and wouldn't work with our fish tank. There was only one cashier open and the line for about 10 people deep before they opened two more lines. We spent a total of 30 minutes in the store, when we should have only been there for less than 10. Plenty of parking, no restroom, clean aisles, organized. read more

Borderline dog abuse!!!! My dog was dropped off at 2:30 and they washed him and stuffed him back in a crate for four hours. I was told he would be ready for pickup at 6pm. I showed up and he hadn't been touched and it was 6:30 and the store closed at 7. Were they planning on a 10 min butcher hair cut? I yanked him out of there and will never go back again. No apology from manager or salon lady just excuses that they were slammed. Horrific and sad that they could do this to a dog. I do not frequent the store much but needed some help as I started grooming our dog myself. I initially purchased a low/mid tier trimmer that just did not work on my dogs coat. Petsmart's 60 day money back guarantee was honored with no questions asked. I decided to look at some higher end trimmers on the next go-round. Brian was incredibly helpful when looking at different models. When it came time, he also price matched Chewy. Best of all, he was professional, kind and cared about his work! Do not recommend this location at all. Typically a husky they say needs 3 hours. Ours was there for 4 went there because we never got a call. They said they needed another hour Easter Sunday. We had dinner plans so we couldn't leave him. Got him and nothing had been done looked worse then he did when we dropped him off. They said 50% off I said I'm not paying anything you didn't do anything and had him there for 4 hours. The lady groomer sarcastically said happy Easter. My dog, Charlie, absolutely loves his trips to Pet's Mart! He goes to this location to get groomed, and he always comes back so happy! When you go, ask for Hillary if you can. Charlie loves her, and we always makes sure he has an appointment with her. She cuts his hair perfectly, and makes his fur super soft! I added a cute picture of him, just to show how great of a job she did on our westie! Most other groomers we have been to in AZ would cut too much of his fur, making him look really weird, and some have been neglectful of my dog as well. PETSMART HAS A NO-KILL POLICY, WHICH I SUPPORT! I walked in a couple of weeks ago just to have a look around. I naturally gravitated towards the cat cages and saw that PetSmart was giving away free adoptions of cats a year or older! Each cat would even go home with you with a free bag of cat food. These cats were either spayed, or neutered, were free of FVR/FHV-1, and were microchipped. (Well, the one I fell in love with was, anyway. If only I could've brought her home that very day, but I wanted to make sure my housemate wouldn't mind.) I asked if these cats had any behavioral problems and was told that NONE of them were damaged, but that these were pets who couldn't stay with the families anymore due to either a sickness, or onset of allergies of a family member, or a new addition to the household. Some of these cats were "package deals" and couldn't be separated from the other companion. These cats were being offered on free adoption in order to make room for the kitten population explosion that always comes around in the spring... (Or even as early as a week later from my first visit! I went to visit the cat I fell in love with the very next week and she was already gone! Boo! It was very understandable, though, as she was absolutely delightful. Aside from the two adult cats that grew up together, the other felines present were all kittens.) If you ever walk in and fall in love with an animal but couldn't take it home with you that same day, you could fill out the necessary adoption paperwork and the store will gladly hold the pet for a couple of days, or so, while you prepare the home for the arrival of its new member. Needless to say, the store would rather you return for the pet sooner, than later, so please be considerate. I knew I really didn't stand a chance of persuading my housemate in letting me adopt the cat, but I was hoping I could spend a bit more time with the lovely feline before she was claimed by somebody else. PetSmart is the only place we go to buy our cat food. It's usually on sale and even if it isn't, it's always under $40. (Science Diet can be pricey.) This was our first trip to this specific PetSmart but it felt like all the others with a similar layout and the same items. I love to stop and watch the lizards, birds, and tiny rodents. I could spend hours just watching them and wishing I could take them all home with me. As we went to check out, there was only one lane open and a rather large line. Luckily another cashier opened up and was able to help us check out. Overall, I'd go back if in the area. read more

Grooming - I've been regularly bringing my dog here to get groomed and I have to say that the service is subpar and the groomers are flat out rude. They also raised their prices, which were already higher than some local groomers. However, same day appointments are usually available and you're paying for convenience. Training- When Rebecca was here training was great. Since she went on maternity leave, the training is basically non-existent. For the past 3 months there has only been one beginner class that happens on Tuesday at 5. And the new trainer must be too busy to get back to people because it took me two months of leaving messages (about 4 total) with employees in order to get in touch with her. That or the employees lied about writing it down and putting it in her book. read more

This Petsmart location has been my dog's grooming location since he was a puppy. I usually schedule with Kendra because she is super nice and really fast -- and of course does a great job. Plus, she gives me these report cards that tells me just how wonderful and cute my dog is which I absolutely love -- I actually save them because I'm just that sentimental about my child, err dog, Toby. I usually do the "teddy bear cut" and most of the time my dog looks super cute although sometimes he doesn't look as cute -- but hey, I think perfection is a little tough given the hours and exhaustion these groomers face. My dog has never looked bad or been given the wrong cut as others have mentioned. They will also make any corrections you want and they ask you if your dog looks the way you want it -- great customer service. I do have one concern though -- the last few times my dog has been scared to go here, like holding onto to me tight scared. I don't know why and I don't know if something happened to him, he might just be nervous around other dogs -- he did get into a small scuffle around the same time at our residence. So IN NO WAY am I pointing the finger at this Petsmart and in all honesty I'd be really surprised if it was linked to them. This place is clean and all the groomers seem super nice and the dogs seem to be in good spirits. However, I may need to find another groomer just because I'm concerned about my dog being so skittish the last few times. If you do go here, ask for Kendra. She is always fantastic. Oh and a bonus: they can usually accommodate any scheduling needs you have from early morning to late afternoon. read more

SO, I've made a few appt's with chrissy and she is AMAZING!!! it's hard to find a car groomer and you just get this immediate good vibe from her that she just loves animals and would probably give your cat more love in a few hours of grooming then you do at home. having previous bad experiences, I feel completely at ease leaving my little boy with her and know she can handle his perfectly coiffed Mohawk! read more

I love everything about Pet Smart..have taken four dogs there for years at the Mayo location...love the organization. They do so much to help rescue dogs. I was so excited to have this location open nearer me to use for various reasons. I just have to say that the employees, especially at check out are not very friendly or helpful. I have taken my dog there to be groomed a few times and they do a good job and the groomers are nicer...but it would be nice if the employees were more friendly. read more
