I hate leaving negative reviews, but after giving this salon another chance, I feel it's important to share my experience. At my previous appointment, my dog was given severe razor burn on her belly. She was clearly in pain for about a week afterward. I brought photos of the injury and showed them to the staff at our most recent visit because I wanted to make sure it wouldn't happen again. The grooming service is supposed to take about an hour. When I hadn't received a call after an hour, I went to pick up my dogs. When I arrived, one of my dogs was still on the grooming table with what appeared to be a new employee being trained. She seemed unsure of what she was doing, and my dog was visibly stressed. At that point, I asked them to stop the groom and finish as-is because I wasn't comfortable continuing. I paid about $200, including a tip, and left. Once I got home, I realized one dog's nails hadn't been trimmed, her haircut was uneven, and the style didn't resemble the reference photos I had provided. I ended up trimming her nails and fixing her haircut myself. I also found a fresh nick under her chin that wasn't there before. I was charged $75 per dog, and for that price I expected a safe, complete, and professional grooming experience. Instead, I left with an incomplete groom, an injured dog, and had to finish the work myself at home. I understand that everyone has to train new groomers, but training should be closely supervised and customers should be informed if someone inexperienced will be working on their pet. There's no other way to say it, our Boston Terrier is dramatic. He hates his toe nails being cut and doesn't want anyone anywhere near his ears or butt. Even with his temperamental 'tude, everyone at Sonoran Pawz is so great with him. When we arrive, they all are excited to see his smush face despite his history of cries and screams. Usually someone will cut his nails (Avery tends to be a dog whisperer- she's his chosen goddess) and another team member will distract him with scratches and love. I never imagined I'd leave a groomer in tears and feel compelled to write a Yelp review. This was my 10-month-old puppy's very first haircut, and I was genuinely excited--he really needed it! Before the appointment, I let the receptionist know he gets nervous in new environments and can be a bit "nippy." She was very kind and reassured me that using a muzzle would help. However, when I arrived and my puppy barked and snapped at another customer. One of the groomers (I didn't catch her name, but she had shorter, pink hair) had an extreme reaction. She loudly exclaimed "I can't do this" multiple times and said she was "shaken up," ultimately refusing to groom my dog. There were at least six people watching as this happened. It was incredibly humiliating and made me feel embarrassed and ashamed. While I completely understand the importance of safety and a groomer's right to refuse service, the way the situation was handled felt very unprofessional and lacked empathy. Even if she was startled, it's still someone's pet--and a little compassion and discretion would have gone a long way. If working with animals causes that level of distress, perhaps a different line of work would be more appropriate. read more

I have been using Sonoran Pawz for my Mini Golden Doodle for several months. I have been pleased with their service up until my dogs last two grooming appointments. Roughly 6 weeks ago I brought Indy in for grooming, the day after I picked him up, I noticed him scratching at his ear and I found a large ball of wax matted in his fur in his ears. I had to cut this wax out. The next time I brought him in, last Tuesday 8/19/2025 I dropped him off and picked him up as usual. I did send Sonoran Pawz a text to remind them to pull Indy's hair in his ears, they confirmed and agreed. Sunday evening 8/24/2025 Indy began crying and whining frantically. I brought him to the emergency vet and learned he had a double ear infection with both bacteria and yeast. The vet confirmed Sonoran Pawz did not complete the grooming procedure by removing the build up of wax and hair in my golden doodles ears. This is a breed specific problem I have learned. Indy needed 2 doses of pain medication, the matted hair and wax from his ears removed, a cone and medication. Sonoran Pawz did not do a complete job or they have hired people who don't know better. Either way this jeopardized my dogs health. The bill was just over $800. I contacted Sonoran Pawz several times to explain the situation and have them reimburse me. I was told the owner would reply with a resolution, I received a reply telling me to wait longer for a resolution. I wrote a detailed email with all the photos and information I am providing in this review. You will see the large amount of matted fur the emergency vet had removed which Sonoran Pawz somehow missed. You will clearly see the vets notes, this should have been prevented by my normal grooming visits, which I paid for. That is now between Sonoran Pawz and AMEX. I think this business owner has poor judgement based on her hiring unqualified people, but also dealing with situations when they arise and mitigating further damages. I would suggest taking your dog elsewhere. read more

Definitely do not recommend. Took our dog there a two months ago and it was very expensive for just a bath (around $130 with NO haircut, since they "didn't have time"). They were also not very friendly, but we agreed to schedule another appointment with them a few weeks later simply because of the cageless aspect. The appointment was for 7:45am, and I showed up promptly for that time. Before even walking through the door, one of the groomers immediately began to scold me for being late ("you do know we opened at 7:30, right?"). She then advised that because we were apparently 15 minute late, they apparently did not have time to give our dog a haircut AGAIN. She proceeded to try and explain to me why the haircut was not possible in the remaining timeframe in a way that indicated that she wanted to cancel the appointment altogether. As I still wanted our dog to at least get a bath/shampoo, I asked her if we could at least do that... and she seemed irritated that I wanted to continue with any portion of our appointment. I was advised that the appointment would take around 2.5 hours (so I planned roughly for that), and about 1.5 hours later, the groomer began calling me repeatedly (while I was on another call), leaving several voicemail messages over just a 10 minute period to explain that my dog was ready. I showed up to pick up my dog about 20 minutes after their initial call, and when I walked in, she made sure to tell me several times that she left repeated voicemails... despite the fact that they finished 1 full hour earlier than the quoted time (especially ironic since they said they WOULD NOT have time for a haircut because we were "15 minutes late). Very ironic and strange. At last, the cherry on the cake occurred when the groomer and the person at the desk were deciding what to charge me (which seemed like more of a total guess than an actual price calculation). She advised that they were charging me for a 2.5 hour appointment, despite the fact that my dog had not even been there for 2 hours yet. So it seems like they charged me for the "late" time, as well as for the amount of time they quoted me, even though they took less time. The total came out to around $170 for JUST A BATH. I hope the extra $40-50 they charged me that day, along with being very rude and confrontational was worth it... we live down the street and I'll be steering everyone I can directly away from this place. read more

I took my dog here a few times and was happy with the results, but the last time I took her was disappointing. She was with the groomer for 1.5 hours and when I picked her up, nothing was done! She was wet, her nails were not trimmed, she wasn't brushed out and to top it off, the groomer put some weird calming lotion behind her ears. What??? Didn't even ask if it was ok. My dog is so docile and mellow. I was taken aback. I shouldn't have paid the $75 plus tip, but I wanted my dog out of there. I would not recommend. I brought my dog here to get groomed, he had pretty severe matting behind his ears and they said they were not able to take care of it due to him being anxious and not sitting still. We were told to take him to a vet and after the matting was taken care of they'd be happy to groom him. I called back, and was told they won't ever groom him again. If I could give them a zero star I would. I hate myself for not reading the reviews before taking my cat to this place. I knew something wasn't right when I walked in, but here we are. In a nutshell took my cat for a lion's cut, the one girl (don't know her name) cut one of his nails so short she cut his paw, and my poor cat was bleeding. I guess she freaked out and stopped the grooming and shoved my cat in to the pet carrier and came to get me. My cat was half way groomed/no bath/ and bleeding. She told me to rebook for another day to finish the haircut. She proceeded to charge me 128 dollars!!!!! Brought in my 9 year old yellow Labrador Retriever, Daisy (who is, ironically enough, terrified of the bath) for a basic wash with de-shed shampoo and a nail trim (again, she is not a fan) with Sophey today, she did great!! Daisy smelled so good, her coat is so soft and i have noticed that so far she isn't shedding as much as she usually does. We typically take her to Wag n Wash in old town Scottsdale because it's cheap and quick, but it's far from where we live so today we decided to try Twin Tails. Great place, i love that the dogs aren't in crates or anything because mine is 70+ lbs, so good luck getting her in and out of a crate lol. The staff is super sweet, asks lots of questions about your dog and you can just tell they really care about the pups. We will definitely be coming back to have Daisy pampered again! read more

I appreciate this grooming salon a great deal. A lot of people seem to have a problem with prices, but I don't mind spending a little more to make sure my dogs kept out of a cage and not spending a full, unnecessary day at the salon. Previously at other grooming locations I have had to drop my dogs up early in the morning and pick them up around 3-5pm needlessly. At this salon I drop them off and pick them up about an hour-hour and a half later, love it. Grooming is good. My dogs are difficult and they've never seemed to have any issues. Do not recommend at all!!! This place says "no hidden fees" yet charged an extra $30 for "matting" even though they shaved my dog. Kai was one that cut my dog's ear, not just one ear, but both. Apparently she didn't learn from the first ear she cut? This place is awful! Then the boy has the nerve to ask for gratuity and he was not friendly at all, he was very rude and condescending. You are correct. However since she has never ever had one before I had no idea what it was. She did get it from coming to this groomer. I have been taking my dogs here for awhile now. They are always so nice and sweet to both me and my dogs. I have a Great Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix and a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. We decided to give a non-petsmart groomer a chance and so glad we did! This place is clean and the staff was friendly, inviting and knowledgeable. The cut came with nail trimming, ear clean and breath spray and bow/bandana all included! The service plus tip was below Petsmart pricing which is obviously a plus. Our groomers come out to the car, take the dogs in and have them ready for me in an hour or less - bathed, brushed, nails trimmed and, if I want, ears and anal glands cleaned. I have a female border collie mix who is anything but girly. Today she came out with both a pink bow between her ears and a scarf. She's so proud.
