Took my dog for a haircut. Annie was his groomer. She did a really nice job. The other people working in the shop were also so sweet to him. He's usually really anxious, and when I came in to pick him up, one of the girls was sitting on the floor with him, just petting him. Excellent customer service. Their prices are reasonable and they did a good job. I would definitely go back. You should know that you need to have proof of rabies vaccination with you. Otherwise they will not see your dog. That happened to me once where I had to go home. Even so, this time I forgot it-- left it on the counter next to the front door! but luckily I was able to get an electronic copy and that's sufficed. read more

I am very disappointed with my experience at PetSmart. I tried to return an item that had never been used, but the staff showed no understanding of my circumstances and offered no flexibility. The manager, Joshua, was involved in the situation, and I left feeling dismissed rather than heard. I understand that stores have return policies, but customer service should also include empathy and a willingness to listen. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Because of how I was treated, I will no longer consider shopping at PetSmart. recently stopped by PetSmart at Hill Country Galleria with my dog, and the experience was great from the moment we walked in. We were greeted right away, which always makes a visit feel welcoming--especially when you've got your furry companion with you. The store was very clean and well organized, which made it easy to find exactly what we needed. We browsed through the aisles and picked up a few things, including some leashes and other supplies for my dog. Everything was well stocked and easy to locate. One thing I've always enjoyed about this location is their variety of fish. In the past I've purchased their beautiful fighting fish (Betta fish), which I love. Of course, anyone who knows Bettas knows you can't put them all together--they'll fight with each other--so they definitely need their own little space in a tank! They also have other pets available through private vendors, along with plenty of supplies for just about any type of pet owner. To top it off, they even offered my dog a little treat at the end of our visit, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. It's the little things like that which make the experience memorable. This review is for the grooming services only. The shopping experience that we had was wonderful, and the sales staff was warm and friendly. We had a grooming appointment for my puppy. We showed up a few minutes early. The man at the desk yelled "OFF THE COUNTER!" My husband was holding our dog, at least a foot away from the counter. It seemed extremely uncalled for to yell at a customer. We were told that even with the appointment, it would be a 2-2.5 hour wait until he could be groomed, then at least an hour to complete the service. We heard a loud shriek in the back. Not sure if a pup was just scared (entirely possible) but I've never heard that kind of sound at any groomer I've visited. We ran the other direction. This is our pet and our baby. It really left a bad taste in our mouths to be yelled at instead of welcomed. If they're going to act that way with us, I doubt our dog would be treated any better. If you're considering a groom for your pet at this location, I would suggest visiting the store and talking to the grooming staff to get a feel for whether or not it's right for your pet. Check out all of the reviews that you can, the good bad and ugly. An informed opinion when booking your appointment is a good idea. Also- for goodness sake- keep your pet off the counter. read more

This was the only location offering overnight boarding, so we tried it instead of our usual PetSmart. I left my senior dog here for a couple of nights while we were out of town. Overall, it was a good experience. The staff were friendly and professional, and my dog genuinely seemed like he enjoyed being there. There are just two things I wish had gone a little differently. First, I dropped him off around 11:30am on purpose so he could join playtime that first day. Later I found out he didn't get to play because they had reached capacity in the play area. Playtime is basically medicine for my dog, so I do think that would've helped him adjust faster. He vomited the first night and seemed a little slower to settle in. Of course, some of that could've just been nerves, but I can't help but think that playing and meeting the other dogs right away would've helped. Next time I'll definitely confirm availability ahead of time. Second, I was really excited about being able to watch him on the live camera. That honestly gave me so much comfort since I haven't boarded him in 8-10 years and he's already been through a big move to Texas. I asked about the camera and ended up talking to 2-3 different staff members, but no one was able to give me clear instructions on how to access the live feed. I searched for it for 15-20 minutes and couldn't find it. When I called, I was told it might be a glitch on the website. I decided to just trust that he was okay. Then when I picked him up, a staff member showed me on his phone how easy it was to access through my online account. I just wish I had known that during his stay so I could've watched him. All that said, it was still a good overall experience, and I do appreciate the care they gave him. read more

The grooming was horrible, and my dog came home so shaken that for two weeks she panicked every time we walked into any store, thinking she was about to be groomed again. She has never been scared of grooming in her life, so whatever happened back there is a mystery, and not a good one. Customer service was another nightmare. I spent 80 minutes going back and forth, being told "we'll make it right," but nothing was ever done. This was the worst grooming experience I've ever had. Trust me, it really is that bad. read more

This is for grooming only. Initially I told them my dog has really bad separation anxiety and just simply needs extra love to help calm her down however I did give her some medicine before the appointment so she wouldn't be as scared. I also told them her paw had been really bothering her and she may have some matting that needs to be clipped because she kept licking it excessively. They kept her in a kennel for 4 hours alone due to being "busy" where she rubbed her nose raw trying to get out. Not only that but I got her a deluxe bath and brush, she still smells dirty, looks dirty and has matting on her body that I told them they had permission to trim off if necessary. They charged me extra for it and left me to do the work myself. They also didn't blow dry her and she is still damp from them putting her in the kennel to lay on wet fur after her bath. She then proceeded to lick her paw raw in the kennel because they neglected to clip out the knots I explicitly told them about when I arrived. When I came to pick her up there was a groomer getting really frustrated openly with the dog she was taking care of, IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. I'm not saying all of the groomers there are like this but to work at a place specifically catering to animals and their health/well being and not like them is an insane choice. Also to let employees that act like that still work there shows they do not care about the dogs. You can hear animals being mistreated in the back as sounds of yelping and screaming are loud. I would shell out the extra money for a groomer that loves animals and knows what they are doing that you can trust. I figured they could handle a simple bathe and brush appointment but I was wrong and will never be bringing my dog back here again and she was neglected and mistreated. read more

I've been at this store a couple times for dog food, I've brought my dog for grooming once and that is because he is a crazy old man. Recently I placed a pick up order and compared to the other PetSmart locations this was the best. I placed this order on short notice and it was ready timely. When I went to pick up the order, I scanned the QR code and an associate came promptly. I don't live close to this location but I think I will be placing my orders here. This location is cleaner in my opinion. Along with the vet and groomer they have the pet hotel. I haven't used it b/c the times we've walked past I see large dogs (I have a fear of large dogs due to something from my childhood) and small dogs mixed. I haven't been shopping here in a while. My girlfriend has a Maltipoo that needed grooming. Fortunately PetSmart emailed me a coupon for 40% off a product or service purchase. I was able to get Windsor groomed, shampooed, nail trim and more for $38 regularly $62. They had to shave him because his hair was matted in some spots but left his ears face and tail longer. He is happier now. Will definitely be going back! read more

Some days you need to just stop and recognize a great job. We have used the Grooming department of PetSmart, Sunset Valley, TX location for several years. Having four dogs makes us frequent visitors. Today, our big dog, Larry, was introduced to a new (to us) groomer, Jesse. Jesse did an outstanding bath, brushing, ear cleaning and nail grind. A clearly happy Larry was returned to us in record time. Bri does an awesome job on Honey, the Shih Tzu, every six weeks. Thank you to all the groomers at that location who have cared for our pups over the years. Their good work and care continue to make our family happy and comfortable with the work they do. read more

The worst experience I've ever had dealing with a shamelessly unapologetically behavior of an unprofessional gromer and manager who basically did everything he could to invalidate my complaints. This morning, I took my 6-year-old cat for grooming, the second time during his 6 years since I've been handling by myself, but this time, I require professional help since my cat had some heavy mat issues. I pay for a Bath & Brush with Deshed + Cat - Dematting Fee (30 min) $114. But I made a huge mistake when I picked my boy off, checking on him exhaustively once I got home; I realized he still needed to be brushed or de-matted as requested and paid. I gave the groomer straightforward guidelines about its mats, and I also completely accept that I may receive my boy not wholly dried because it could be uncomfortable for him to remain in the dryer for a long time. Anyway, he returned with more matts, unbrushed and completely messed up. I called consumer service, assisted by a lovely, helpful rep who listened carefully to my complaint and walked me through the following steps. 10 minutes afterward, I received a call from the store manager to hear his lecture on why I received my cat soaked and all kinds of arguments on "cats grooming 101" and why I was wrong, no matter what I told him. Although I knew my cat would need to be dried more, the arrogant manager discussed the issue non-stop, avoiding the real problem. When I specifically asked him about the real issues of brushing and de-matting, he replied, "I talked with the groomer, and she said she did it. Also, I saw the camera vids where I saw her doing it," so basically, my complaint was invalidated, with his "irrefutable" evidence, so when I am confronting him about his need to improve his communication with his employees since it was obvious my cat wasn't brushed or demat, he came back offering a rescheduled session to check the maths and fix them. Due to his poor consumer service skills and lack of empathy, I declined his offer and ended the call. No more Petsmart for my household, and please consider other grooming services, at least when you're thinking about your cats. You will do 100% better grooming service than what I received. A 5-Star review for consistent 5-star performances that's long overdue. My dog Patsy Cline and I really love this PetSmart, it's been our go-to for several years now for pet training, various pet supplies and food, and the boarding services which we frequently utilize. Patsy Cline loves their Day Camp, I can tell because when I take her here she gets really excited to see the staff - who all have come to know her now and greet her by name. I bring her food and bed, the staff here follow the feeding instructions, she participates in Day Camp from 9-5 and gets her own room. When I pick her up they give me a progress report and feedback on her stay. I can tell they're really engaged with Patsy as the information is helpful. They also wash her bed when I pick her up which is a bonus, they recently purchased a new large capacity dryer that can wash large beds which makes it easier and more efficient for the staff. Speaking of the staff - everyone is always consistently on point and courteous and you can tell they really enjoy working here. They always greet you when you walk in, and those who know Patsy and I always stop by to say hello. All of the managers are very nice and everyone is always so nice and professional, and IMO that all starts at the top with quality leadership and management led by their General Manager, Jason Scarpino. He's always been very helpful and responsive when I have gone to him, he has excellent customer service skills and is eager to make sure you have a great experience here to make sure you keep coming back - and that's why I do. I can't thank Jason and his entire staff enough for always going above and beyond the call of duty. Patsy loves getting her nails clipped from the Grooming Salon in the back, the staff there are very gentle with her and do quality work. Another recent bonus here is they now track your purchases and give you $$ back, so my last visit I saved $12 off Patsy's 3 day stay. They also offer up coupons for additional discounts. And if you board your dog overnight you get a discounted rate for the Day Camp. I now get the Silver Package because it includes a daily treat along with the overnight boarding and Day Camp and ends up being cheaper than ordering the services separately. We've been going to PetSmart for the past 7 years - taking our Shetland Sheepdogs (i.e., Shelties) for washes and occasional cuts. While we've generally had good experiences, our go-to groomer left PetSmart and we made the mistake of trusting a new groomer with our dog. The groomer's name was Rachel and it was a nightmare. The worst experience we've ever had with grooming altogether. We couldn't even recognize our dog when we picked her up. She went from being a Shetland sheepdog to looking like a "shiba inu" - a completely different breed. Honestly, the only logical explanation for this oversight was that the groomer either got the breeds confused or is flat out incompetent. I am certain it is latter based on my interaction with her. Please note that this is not just a concern about how our dog looks. Shetland Sheepdogs are supposed to have their coat at a certain length in order to keep their bodies at a healthy temperature--and not overheat when it's hot. In other words, if you cut their hair too short you can put their health at risk given they won't be able to cool down. In addition, this type of mistake will leave their coat patchy and is unlikely to grow back the way it looked before. We now have to wait about a year or more to determine how detrimental this negligent mistake will be to her coat and health. Unfortunately for us, not only did Rachel cut her hair too short, she took it a step further by using trimmers and giving her a buzz cut. It is very commonly known (by actual professionals) you should not use trimmers on double coat fur. We are beyond angry as this may impact the health of our dog. We won't be going back to PetSmart for grooming services ever again. I would be very very careful with which groomer you choose to cut your dogs hair. read more

Update since my original review 9 months ago. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I bring both of my dogs here and up until today, have always recommended PetSmart grooming services. Meghan was amazing (FYI she no longer works there) Thibault was always the sweetest (also doesn't work there anymore) and most recently, Kimberly W was great with our puppy. Booked an appointment with Rachel since Kimberly wasn't available. I asked for a cut and have always been pleased with the results, up until today. What they did to my dog wasn't just an extremely bad and uneven cut, it was harmful and borderline cruel. Most professional groomers will agree that you don't use clippers (a shaving tool) on double coat fur. Reason being that you can't go short on this type of coat. Dogs with this type of fur use their coat to regulate their body temperature amongst other things- more below. This groomer took clippers with a 1" setting and basically gave my dog a buzz cut. Normally, the groomer will do this if the coat is tangled or knotted-- worst case scenarios only--but that was not the case here. I brush my dog almost daily to prevent any tangles and if you look at the photos, you'll see that she is well taken care of. You can also view the tragedy that occurred today in the before and after photos. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the result of this cut may lead to permanent damage to my dogs coat. Not only is unsafe for her to have it this short, it increases her risk of sunburn and skin cancer. It's a real problem and not one that can be fixed until her coat is back to normal- if it ever is. Beware of bringing your dogs here if they have a double coat and by all means- avoid booking the groomer, Rachel J. read more

if I could put 0 I would. If Joey does not want to be at work, then Joey should go home! I have my grandson Blu because his mom my daughter is in the Air Force in Alaska. I'm literally sitting in car crying and can't move. Joey snapped at me for nothing with such anger and aggression asking why I have a new account? He set it up and then told me to go pay and out. Like I'm a piece of nothing. My dog is a humper they know this. Blu has been here since 12:42pm. They told me to get him neutered because it should take down some of the aggression. I got him neuter. I bring him back today Blu was checked in and there was no problem. I was called to pick him up, the young lady said that she could not get his feet, that was all. I told her we'll let me come and sit because he does not do this around me. The young lady said okay, she will find someone to assist. As soon as I came in, I felt the tension coming from Joey. I called his name and immediately Joey responded by saying " you can't say anything, we have other animals in here". I stood quietly and said nothing. A few minutes later Joey said "um ma'am we can't do this". I asked could we use his muzzle? With the tension I said just give me Blu. The customers looked at me like wow is he really talking to her like that? Look at the cameras. I kept my composure because as a black woman I'm expected to explode. No I asked what am I paying for when he looks the same? The manager immediately took his side and brought up the new account that Joey set up. I explained my account has traveled from state to state until Texas. Joey read the notes and he also remembers Blu. I'm still in the parking lot crying. I can't bel I was humiliated like that in front of people and I did nothing wrong. If you can't cut him, say that. If you don't want to, say that, it's okay I know how he gets. And it's only at Petsmart, where he has been getting groomed for the past 6 years. I started crying and told the manager whatever, he's right let me go pay my bill $61.00. After I got so angry and started to cry I tried to get the paper from the manager to go pay and he kept trying to stop me. He then said not to worry. I have always paid Blu bills so this is not the problem Problem comes in where the job is half way done! And you are treated like crap and a paying customer. I am so over this, I will never be back. My daughter expects haircut pictures and he looks the same. I helped rehome a cat that had some mats so took him to PetSmart to get those shaved. They let me know that he would look funny unless we shave his whole body to match. I said ok. His cut was very choppy and strings of hair were left out. I'm sure it's not a "walk in the park" to shave a cat but it didn't look as though much effort was made and it is their job to do a good job. My cat had a long beautiful mane that was cut (which I was sad about as this is usually kept on cats for the lion cut and he had no knots on his mane). But the most upsetting part is the back of his head. She didn't even try. They made me pay before bringing out my cat and then the groomer didn't even tell me that his head looked like that. So either she wasn't worried with how it looked (red flag) or she was hoping I wouldn't notice or care. It looks so terrible. I paid over $100 for a good grooming. If I would have known it would look like this, I would have just done it myself. I wouldn't have done a better job but at least I would have saved myself over $100. read more

On Sunday prior to opening of the Brodie Ln, Austin, TX store, I placed an online order for pickup at the store. That afternoon I received email stating my order had been delivered (contrary to my selection of store pickup). There was NO DELIVERY to my house. When I called the store to resolve the situation, the manager on duty, Celeste, told me I needed to contact door dash directly...even though I never requested delivery. Celeste said she couldn't help me and I needed to contact customer service. I asked for the phone number & she said she didn't know it but it was on her the website. It was not. I asked her to take responsibility for the mistake made by PetSmart. She stated "I never touched your order" and offered no assistance whatsoever. The cost of my order was withdrawn from my account on Sunday. On Monday, I received another email thanking me for picking up my order, which never happened. The store manager Chris, contacted me Monday afternoon and said he found my order in the store which was contrary to the info given by Celeste. He was actually calling me to see why my order was still in the store. If Celeste had done her job, the problem could have been resolved Sunday. When Chris contacted me, he apologized profusely and offered to deliver my order after he got off work at 6:00 p.m. It is now 9:45 p.m. and I still have not received the merchandise I paid for or an update or other communication from Chris. Apparently the two managers have no credibility so I will have to take this higher up the chain to resolve the issue and receive the merchandise I paid for. I was a PetSmart customer (at the Brodie Lane store) for almost 20 years, but I will be looking for another more honest and reliable source for my pet care needs. It's fun to come in here and look at the animals but rather or not you get a friendly, helpful employee depends on the day. Do not ask them for advice on the fish because they're not educated on them. We asked for fish that get along well with guppies and the fish they sent us home with was mean and bullied our other fish. We looked the species up online and as they grow, they become meat eaters..... He obviously had to go.... We also got a gupy recently that died two days after we brought it home. The guy said he bought guppies from a different vendor and they all died..... Didn't offer a refund or replacement or anything.... There was a girl in there another time recently who told us all the colorful guppies were female. We asked again the next time we went in and a different employee told us what we had thought was the case, that actually all the colorful guppies are males.... Basically, they just don't actually know much about fish. Nice place for us to buy worms for our Beardie, they usually are pretty good. A few times they've died shortly after coming home, before we could feed them to him. As far as we can tell the animals that are housed here, awaiting homes seem healthy and well cared for. read more

Just tried a second chance at PetSmart. I was told by my vet to go pick up a script for Revolution flea med bc my vet doesn't carry it. Went to pick up my script and took it to PetSmart as they recommended. My pet needs flea meds to keep from infestation. I got there and stood in line 20 minutes patiently when one guy was being helped. Finally the worker was gonna walk in back and I said hello and she said she was sorry what did I need. I said I was right there on the circle to be helped. She looked at the girl at the register and looked at me. I said um yea she never asked if I needed help, no acknowledgement. Then proceeded to ask me questions verifying who I was. With an end result of we can't help you unless you go to Banfield period. Really? First acknowledge the customer staffing there. Second, put a sign up saying new rule we can't provide scripts to you from other vets!!!! I wasted 20 minutes for this crap. Will never ever step foot in any Pet Smart again. This is for the grooming center. I can't remember who did my dogs groom, but she's always gone here when I've been too busy to do it myself at dirty dog. I have a 7 year old Alaskan malamute who is a great girl, loves people, but is fussy with me at bath time, however the guy who used to do her grooms showed me a video of how well behaved she was for him. This time when they called to tell me she was done I was told she had a very bad day, which is odd because she loved the other groomer and he always told me good news. I don't know what happened as I dropped her off but my dog was exhausted and scared which isn't like her. We got home and she slept as if she was in a hyper vigilant state the whole time she was there, and the kicker is she was so exhausted from whatever she experienced and the anxiety that she peed the bed and she NEVER has accidents. I work with trauma patients and this presentation is like what happens after experiencing a traumatic event. So told she was awful, and then the aftermath when I got home. We used the pets hotel for 1 night boarding for our 2 small dogs to be housed in a joint kennel that was private. Check in was fast and efficient employees were friendly for check in and check out. Had a bit of a wait on the Sunday pick up apparently allot of people pick up on Sunday before noon. My biggest issue is the it cost approximately $100 for 2 small dogs to be boarded overnight. We took our two dogs here for a 10 hour day care trip. When our 7 year old dog got home we could tell she was holding her pee for awhile. When we called the store and asked when the last time they were taken out to pee/ poop they informed us they were never taken out in the 10 hours they had our dogs. They told us "we have 150 dogs you can't expect us to take them all out." Our 7 month old puppy came back covered in pee after 10 hours locked in the same small room with no bathroom breaks. Highly recommend avoiding taking your dogs here. Completely inhumane. read more
