They are fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable. They have helped me with my senior pets and my puppy. Their prices for surgeries, dental and medication beat practically all others, even Emancipet. They are so pleasant and love their pets. There is no unnecessary testing or price gouging.

I definitely recommend Dr. Hardesty!! As we all look for a Vet to care for our fur babies, we look for someone that is compassionate and truly cares about your baby/babies. Dr. Hardesty has been our Vet for a few years now and we just love him!! He is amazing with our pets and is very caring! The place may not seem like a fancy Vet office like some of the others, they have been around for a very long time. I was skeptical at first, but once I gave them a chance I knew I would be going there as long as I lived in the Austin area. The prices are great and like I said before, Dr. Hardesty is a very caring and loving doctor. He truly cares about my babies! I recently had to take my dog in for a hematoma on his ear. He was seen and was told the cost and to my amazement it was 99% much cheaper then the first time he got one on his other ear and the quote we got from another Vet! I have to also add that Betsey and Arlene are amazing, caring and very sweet! Like I said I know the building and the inside doesn't look appealing to most, but if you can look past that you will find a Vet and staff that really does care about your pet/pets as they do. My advice to those not so happy at not being able to get in right away! Make sure you have a back up plan. As with all other Vet offices they too can't always get you in when you want. We need to find a back up just in case. You never know when emergencies arise and sometimes these Vets are completely booked and have no appointments when we need one. Thank you Dr. Hardesty and your staff for always caring for our fur babies! We really do appreciate all you!!

This place is rundown and dirty! I understand an old building, but they seriously need to sanitize. The way this place looks def makes you want to never leave your pet there for surgery or teeth cleaning, etc. We will not be coming back. The sign says you have to wear a mask..what a joke..they aren't too concerned about keeping this place clean..Vet was nice but how hard is it to fix it up a little bit. Get some decent chairs at goodwill that aren't all stained and gross.

This vets office is a wonderful place to bring your pets for loving health care! Dr. Hardisty and Betsy are the warmest, most caring animal caretakers and so professional. They really care about your animals and are happy to answer any questions you have! I've been bringing my dog and cats here for years, especially for teeth cleaning. Their prices are very reasonable and they always remember my pets and treat them gently and lovingly. Highly recommend! If you're looking for a brand new building, go elsewhere. If you're looking for a professional, loving and excellent medical care and reasonable pricing, come here. They are the best!

Shoutout to Dr. Hardesty and Betsy. They took such good care of my cat Juno when she needed surgery to remove a mass on her underside. Not only are the services they render affordable, but the "realness", compassion, and caring they exude is unlike any veterinary office in the Austin area. Y'all are AMAZING

I am so grateful to have stubbled upon South Congress Vet. I checked other places around town and they were extremely expensive and required an appointment before the actual spay surgery which is just extra money for the exam fee. Here, I dropped her off on Friday morning, picked her up that afternoon and they were so extremely affordable. She is doing so great and the staff were wonderful. Soooooo happy to have a no non-sense place to ease my nerves and perform this routine surgery. Thank you

I have been coming here for the past 3 years when I first got my puppies! My girl recently birthed her own little of puppies and so of course, we brought the whole litter in a box to the vet! I love that the entire staff remembers us every time we come in, including all 8 puppies. Thanks South Congress Veterinary Clinic for keeping the prices reasonable AND for being awesome!

I am very happy with the service we received today. We took our 1 year old chi/terrier mix in to have her hernia examined. The ladies at the desk were extremely welcoming and sweet to us. Our pup is very anxious and felt pretty comfortable here compared to her old vet. Anyway, the vet was very thorough during the examination and explained everything in an very clean manor. Tito would like to say "thank you!"

Unlike some of our experiences with other veterinarians in Austin, we never feel rushed. We truly appreciate the care and attention he gives to both us and our cat Reishi. Dr. Rob performed oral surgery to remove several of Reishi's teeth. It was the first major surgery we had experienced with her. He was extremely patient with our questions, took wonderful care of her, and guided us through the entire process. Reishi healed very quickly and had no postoperative complications, which we were especially grateful for after hearing about friends whose pets experienced infections and other issues following similar procedures elsewhere. Recently, Reishi had a cancer scare after an alarming initial assessment at an emergency vet. We were quite stressed. When we brought her to see Dr. Rob, he first acknowledged what we had been through and made us feel heard and cared for before discussing the next steps. He even emailed us with test results and next steps while he was on a family vacation, which showed us how deeply he cares about his patients. Fortunately, further testing showed that Reishi did not have cancer. Going through such a stressful experience felt much more manageable knowing that Reishi was under Dr. Rob's care. He is compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in both his patients and their families. Unfortunately, we are moving out of state and will have to find a new veterinarian. We truly hope we can find a clinic as wonderful as ATX Animal Clinic. It is the best veterinary clinic we have ever had, and we are incredibly grateful to Dr. Rob and the entire team.

We recommended everyone to this clinic and my mom takes her dogs here as well. My only complaint would be the new front desk person I think her name is Kayla. It has been an awful experience trying to schedule anything with her. She has told me wrong information multiple times in regard to schedule appointments even when I asked her if she was sure cuz the info didn't sound right. It has been incredibly frustrating working with her. I wouldn't trust information coming from her and will be asking to speak to someone besides her from now on. Otherwise a wonderful clinic and have loved all the staff besides her. Highly recommends this vet clinic.

My usual vet, who we have been seeing since adopting the cat almost 2 years ago, rudely dismissed my concerns over the phone and insisted that I needed to pay an $80 office visit fee just to get an answer to my question over the phone (the question was "What does the PCR panel test for?"). I started calling every other vet in Austin to find a clinic that has experience with Tritrichomonas and that I felt comfortable with. Several clinics admitted that they did not know what the parasite was or had never treated it before. Another lied and said "oh, that is super easy to treat and really common and straightforward!" which I knew was not accurate from the empirical literature online. I finally found Austin Urban Vet and the experience we have had so far has genuinely been night and day different from pervious clinics. From the very first call, the AUV team was empathetic to our situation, VERY transparent about pricing (they provided it in writing), and explicitly clear about which PCR diagnostic panel they use at AUV and exactly what it tests for. They were open and honest about their experience with Tritrichomonas and I immediately felt at ease and confident in the care that they could provide my cat. After chatting with my partner about my findings from calling almost every vet in Austin, we both agreed Austin Urban Vet was the best one to move forward with, so we made an appointment. Right off the bat, I was happy to find that AUV has a private parking lot (for free!). I headed inside with my cat and the team at the front desk was so kind and helpful. They quickly checked me in and invited me to grab a bottle of water or make myself a cup of coffee as I waited for the tech to take us into the room. We waited for maybe ~5 minutes before the tech took us to the exam room, where she scanned my cat for her microchip, weighed her, and asked questions about the presenting problem, history, etc. Dr. Helen was who attended us for the exam itself, and she was so kind and thorough. I really felt that she was providing genuine feedback, and she was honest about her experience with this parasite. She was transparent about the treatment plan and let me know her general thoughts (Ie., "If she is still positive, we will do X. If she is negative, we can try Y.") We are now waiting for the PCR results, but so far, I am so happy with our experience and feel confident that Dr. Helen will provide us with the best care possible.
