One of my dogs stayed here for five nights recently at the Petshotel. It was our first visit, and I wasn't sure what to expect. They have several different packages available including different sizes of rooms, extra play time, Kongs, and several other things. The play room isn't really big but my dog seemed to really have fun here. I called to see how she was doing on the second day. On the fourth day, they sent me a picture of my pup. When I picked her up, there was a report card that shared more information about my dog from different people who worked there, which was fun to read. I loved receiving the picture and wish they were able to send them every day. read more

I love how this particular store location offers so many services! They have a puppy/adult dog training department, a grooming salon, a pet hotel (PetsHotel), a canine camp (Doggie Day Camp), and a veterinarian clinic (Banfield Pet Hospital). I have taken my dog to been seen at their vet clinic and have also boarded him at their pet hotel in the past, and my family and I were very satisfied with the results. I also like how they have a huge variety of pet products. My only issue is, the last time I was there, a lot of their items were out of stock. However, I think that may be due to the COVID-19 restrictions. read more

My mom and I recently stopped by the store to purchase dog food and cat food for her animals. While walking around the store we ran into a gal with a cute dog named sassy. My mom is a big dog lover and wanted to say hello. She let the animal sniff her hand before she went in to give it loves. Fast forward to the checkout line a little later.... My mom went to pet this same dog and it bit her finger. I heard a scream so loud I went running to see if she was okay. My baby and I were looking at the fish. My moms figure was bleeding and she was in tears. I was shocked to see employees not even check to see if she was okay and another just doddle over to get a bandaid. The women brought back a small bandaid, no first aid kit, I had to ask for an additional bandage and a wipe to clean her bleeding finger. I normally have nothing but a great experience at this store (that's why I gave my rating 2 stars!) but I am horrified that there is no protocol for safety when someone gets bit by a dog. I am disgusted by the way employees acted and I will drive to the west valley location or even PetCo before returning to this store again. I hope this issue can me addressed with upper management and a better protocol put into place. read more

My son and daughter in law took their sweet dog to get a de-matt and trim at Petsmart Groomer. Upon return to pickup the dog, she came out completely shaved to the skin. She was also bleeding on several areas of her body from being cut, which tells me they were in too much of a rush and had no compassion for animals. Also shaved one set of eyelashes completely off and the other was not touched. Total negligence. The woman who did the job was Iris. When she saw how shocked they were when they saw her, Iris smirked, as if it was funny. $115, horrible job and the dog has been in shock since. I'll be posting about this groomer in several places. Daynie Brown is fantastic. My grand baby pets have spent this week at this location during the day. One goes to Doggy Day Camp and one goes to Doggy Day Care. We brought them there this week because of the excellent care we've experienced in other visits. All of the employees have been great but it's Daynie we see almost every time. She greets dogs and customers with a broad smile. She remembers the names of the dogs who've been there before. She handles check-ins with efficiency. If there's more than one customer waiting to check in or out, she greets them as well and tells them she'll be with them as soon as she can. I've seen her patiently explain to newcomers all the paperwork and ask questions about dogs' special needs. I like the double doors system with the coded entry door to get pets in and out safely. The different play areas are attractive and well maintained. I trust her with our beloved pets. They are happy to see her too! read more

I'm not usually a fan of any chain store/establishment but I'm looking after some friends pets this week and this is one of the few locations that does cat grooming and it was my lucky day. Someone canceled and a spot opened up. My cat was a foster that I ended up adopting. He was unlike any other cat that I'd ever seen, and I see a lot fostering. He is always waiting for me, he comes when I call him unless he's napping. He goes for walks, he's like a puppy in cat form. So I had to adopt him. We were running errands that morning and like a pup he was running around to all windows in the car, trying to get a glimpse of this huge other world. After errands we arrived here. I turned my little buddy over to Miranda and she greeted him with so much love that I knew he was in good hands. After I picked him up, he was so relaxed and happy that he just draped his little body over the car seat, purring and looking as if he'd just got done with a spa day. This behavior alone, and the awesome cleaning job that was done deserves five stars. I've decided once a month he'll get his little spa day. And P.S. Tip your groomers. Look at their poor little arms. They look like battle fields, they give so much love - give them some back. read more

Do I love this Petsmart? No. Do I love any Petsmart? No. Do I love any pet store? Um, not really. There are a few things I like about this place including the great variety and the fact that I can get my shopping done at a bazillion other stores while I'm in the neighborhood of this particular Petsmart location. But it's tough to really love this place or any of the big ol' pet stores around today. As a side note, there's not much non-asphalt in front of this store. There are lots of pets that come to this store. Pets eat food. The food leaves their body eventually, usually (at least in my pup's preference) in non-asphalt areas. I think you know where this is going. And try as they might, Petsmart can't control you, your pup's.. habits, and whether or not you clean up after your pup. So know before you go. And have your dog go before you go. Decent prices, decent parking. Lots of variety for critters with fins, wings, tails, claws, tongues, and most of the accessories you need on a regular basis. I've never boarded there (they offer that?) or groomed there. But I imagine it's, well, decent. read more

The store is fine, but I cannot shop there anymore because the grooming shop doesn't understand the company policies. I looked up to see what the rules were for new puppies. Their website clearly states that dogs that are 9 weeks old are ok to be groomed. They refused me and basically scolded me while everyone in the whole grooming salon stared at me. I had to leave out of pure embarrassment. Now I have to find another place to buy pet supplies because shopping here would mean paying to support those people in the grooming shop of horror. One token of advice groomers: nice matters! Tried this place out again. Three employees were talking to each other. I went to ask if they could help me with a bark collar since the cabinet is locket. One girl called another person over the intercom and they never came. Worst store ever. I just want to give them money, but I can't. They won't let me buy anything. read more

While not really in my "hood", this is certainly the Petsmart I use the most, and with good reason. It has it all. We board our pets here and use the veterinary care facilities. And on both fronts they are good for what they provide. I can't talk about grooming, we have cats, you let them get on with that for themselves or risk losing a hand! We use the boarding several times a year when traveling and have for several years now and I can't say we have ever experienced any problems. It's good value for money, they seem to take good care of your pets (i.e. they actually will talk to you again after a couple days when you get them home again!) and they provide a good report of any behavioral anomalies with your pets or other issues. I really cannot have any complaints, it's 5 star service. The veterinary center is run by Banfield Pet Hospitals, and while maybe not a substitute for a full fledged animal hospital, they are great for the normal preventative care and maintenance of your pets - in other words, regular check ups, vaccines, rabies checks, basic preventative meds, tire rotations and oil changes. Oh wait, sorry, those last two were meant for a different review. But seriously, it's all good - I sometimes find them a little impersonal when it comes to the front desk service, but beyond that no complaints. 4 stars for that. When it comes to Petsmart proper - I have to go with 3 stars. It's not that there is anything wrong with them as a chain per say, it's just, well, exactly that. It's a pet store chain with all the good and bad that comes with that. It's just not something I can fall in love with. Overall though 4 stars - mainly because of the awesome boarding here! read more

Located off Redwood Road in Taylorsville, this Petsmart store has a large selection of everything you could want for your pet: food, clothing, toys, and all manner of other items and accessories. On a day-to-day basis they have many varieties of fish, rodents (like gerbils and mice), some reptiles (snakes and lizards), and a few cats. On weekends they sometimes have a local shelter bring in large dogs that can be adopted for reasonable prices. Staff at Petsmart is friendly and helpful when asked. The individuals at this PetSmart are extremely rude. I came in to place to get my pet groomed and the original gal was rude and disrespectful about not having enough people. I asked to speak with a manager who was dismissive of my frustration with prior employee and said I can simply wait if I want to be served. I've decided I will not being business with them any longer. read more

I like PetSmart, close to home, clean; as much as a pet store can be with doggies running about, helpful, and friendly. They have some knowledgeable trainers, and lots of things to shop for. The dogs would give this place a 5 star review just for smells and friendly humans all over. I, however, have a gripe about all PetSmarts, and that is the discrimination they have against Pit Bulls being a part of their day care or stay-cation visits. Sadly, they don't allow them to join in any group play activity because they are afraid of them. They are more than willing to let my pittie into their stay-cation, but he would not be allowed to play with the other dogs when they go for play time, this is why I cannot give them more than a 3 star review. My baby would love to go to play time, and I would love both my babies to have a great place close to home to go while I am on vacation. They do have a great return policy and great staff. read more

The cashier at this pet smart is very rude. I didn't get her name but when I went she had been staring me down as soon as I got on line. I was very uncomfortable. She didn't even bother saying hello. I didn't realize I had forgotten my mask so she let me know in a VERY rude manner that her manager told her that she shouldn't give service to those without masks and that I need a mask. I then asked her to bag the things and she complained the entire time!! She refused to double bag it when I asked her to and also refused to bag the rabbit bedding. I visit this pet smart all the time and have never had such and uncomfortable and rude encounter!!!!!! She was working at register number 1 at 3pm today. read more

I'm reviewing solely for the groomer's-- we took our new lab to them for a grooming and they were great! I think they were done within an hour but I had more appointments that day so they held onto him with no problem. He came back cleaned and trimmed and I think they ground his nails down free of charge which I really appreciated (this is my first dog so I'm still learning the ropes). I also forgot to grab his rabies information before I showed up but they had no problem calling the vet to confirm his tag (they need to do this before seeing your pet for the first time). I saw them grooming a cat while I was there dropping my dog off and despite that poor thing being very obviously terrified, the two groomers were very gentle with him and patient so I think it went about as well as any cat grooming can be expected to go. I might take my kitties in for a wash too-- I'm not that brave hahah. read more

Well. I'll give it a three star rating just because the manager wAs awesome. I have a huge husky lab mix and she is a chicken when it comes to the groomers. I look her in to have her get a bath, be de-sheded, nails trimmed, ears wash, the whole thing. They told me it would take about 3 hours. I had an appointment at 3 and come back at 6 and they said she wasn't quite dry yet which was fine I didn't mind. She said she would bring her out while I went to the front and paid. I went and paid the full 60 dollars and came back to get her and hair was just flying off her. I asked the lady if she had been brushed and she said that she hadn't. No big deal I guess I'll just brush her at home. I looked at her nails and they were the same length they were when I had taken her in. I asked if her nails had been trimmed and the girl told me no, they hadn't been able to do that. I asked what they had ACTUALLY done and they said they had given her a bath but they weren't sure if she had gotten the whole de shedding treatment.... Are you kidding me? I understand that my dog is hard to groom. Trust me I have tried, but before I go and pay the full amount they could have told me what had and hadn't been done. They lady told me they had finished with her and sent me to pay the 60 dollars. The manager was awesome and refunded me the amount paid in full but I'm still pretty ticked they didn't tell me BEFORE I had gone and paid for everything. Needless to say I have her scheduled somewhere else for a nail trim. read more

This review is for the Petshotel and for grooming of my two dogs. I was OOT for 6 days and had my dogs boarded at this facility. I had previously toured at LEAST 10 places in the SLC area, but they all looked dumpy, felt cold, and the NOISE was terrible. I've boarded my dog in dungeons before, and I know that when you get a bunch of dogs together in a big garage or warehouse atmosphere, it's a freaking free-for-all. What I don't like to see are: stacked kennels with two rows of dogs facing each other, barking all day..... leaky hoses all over..... concrete kennels with no beds and no blankets..... COLD kennel area... oh I guess I'll stop. Lots of things I hate. But when I toured this Petshotel, it was different. Even though they have dogs all over the place for the doggie day care, and what-not, it wasn't pandemonium. The dogs were just being playful. I couldn't hear any barking in the kennel area, but even so, I reserved an atrium for my two little dogs, so they could be together and it was fully enclosed. It wasn't cheap, though. Most places charge around $30 per night with $10 extra for another dog in the same kennel. This ended up being about $75 per night total. Plus for my puppy, I got some doggie day camp time so he wouldn't drive my old dog crazy. Extra snack for my old dog every day. Bath for one dog, full grooming for the the other. I brought their kongs and squeeze cheeze, which were given to them every night. The grand total for all of that was about $600, folks. Ouchie! But you get what you pay for here. My dogs emerged happy and healthy. Plus they looked SO CUTE! The grooming was top notch. The only thing I would like to see is an internet-accessible camera system so I can log on and watch what my dogs are doing during the day If I want. read more

Let me tell you my Pet Smart story: So I shop there all the time, mainly because it's the only place around that sells bird stuff AND dog stuff in the same building. I like it...the people are nice and there's a good enough variety of food and toys and all that. I've gotten my dog groomed before and it was good...not the absolute best, but he's no show dog so as long as he doesn't smell like a garbage can I'm happy. Until yesterday. I took my dog in to get a bath and a groom. No trimming, no shaving, just a standard groom. I have an old english sheepdog. He's supposed to have hair over his eyes and he's supposed be shaggy. I just wanted him washed and brushed. When I picked him up I found a once gorgeous dog transformed into a creature from Star Trek. He looks like an earless bear. With fins. Not only was the hair in front of his eyes trimmed (which we specifically told her not to), his ears were shaved. Only his ears. Every time I look at him I have a laughing fit, and I think he's starting to catch on. His dignity is gone and you can see it in his eyes. HE KNOWS. So rather than hurt the groomer girl's feelings (she was very sweet and did her best) I called her manager when I got home and explained that I paid 40 dollars and nothing I asked to be done was done correctly and they charged me for things I didn't ask for. An all-around bust in my opinion. The manager was AWESOME and gave me a free groom and made a note in my records which groomer was never allowed near my dog again. In a way I feel bad...she was trying. But she's not that good. Maybe she should stick to the small dogs. The ones that already look like they belong in Deep Space Nine. I don't know her name, so if you go there with a big beautiful dog, avoid the emo girl with glasses. Just a friendly tip. Despite the groom from hell, I like the place and they treat their customers well. So I give it a 4. read more

They have the best management and long-term employees who are loyal, love their job and show their passion for animals by providing the best customer service they can. I know I can always depend on them. Melora Wood is a fantastic manager and she always makes you feel taken care of. The PetsHotel is the BEST! I love them so much. I trust my babies in their care. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a trustworthy place to leave their pets for a day, a week or longer. I know I seem like I love everyone at the store, but it's because they're great. Brenda Campbell, the trainer, has helped both my dogs and Brandy Larsen, a groomer, is the only one I trust with my cocker spaniel. read more

I normally go to a different location but I needed crickets. I stood there waiting for someone to help me after asking for help. I stood there for 15 minutes before someone finally helped me, and that was after another customer had asked for help. She had crickets in bags already, but looking at the bags, they were blown up and tied off incorrectly and looked like some were dying already. I live 15 minutes away from here and just from the drive home, the bag that I have for my crickets is already half way deflated. I will definitely NOT go back to this location. read more

REVIEW ON GROOMING - The staff at the Taylorsville Petsmart is by far the best in the state. My 2 year old beagle can be such a handful, but Maria has become one of his best friends and trusts her to do his grooming. They make me feel welcome and always fit me in even on the busiest of Saturdays. Maria cares about my dog and even gave us a big gift bag of treats and toys for his birthday. Moving to Colorado from Nevada, I couldn't find a reasonable hotel that would take my two cats and one small dog. Most hotels had a limit of two pets per room. If I was willing to pay $400, I could have up to 5 pets at two hotels we looked-up under pet friendly hotels in Salt Lake City. It became clear that boarding was going to have to be an option. My sister suggested Petsmart and found Petshotel, part of Petsmart in Taylorsville, about 10-15 minutes from the hotel I was staying in with my dog. They needed my paperwork on my cats' vaccination history to make sure they were up-to-date, and I left them a bag of special urinary tract food because one of my cats gets FLUTD, stones in his urinary tract. Both cats were approved to be caged together. It was really convenient because they're open into the evening hours and open at 7am before Petsmart even opens. You just walk through a dimly lit store to the bright boarding area. I'm so glad my cats got a chance to relieve their bowels and bladders after a 7 1/2 hour drive. I let them out halfway to use the litter box in my car but the were having none of that. Plus, I had to wrestle them back in their cages. 'Not easy in a closed-up car. Petshotel even gave me a check list and handwritten note about each of my cats' stay. It cost me $46 for one night with two cats. Much cheaper than a $400 a night hotel! read more

WARNING worst experience ever I bought 3 fish all had ich thought maybe it was just may tank I saved them all then went back and bought 2 tiger oscars first one died in less than a day my albino starts acting funny so I started running a treatment and raised the water temp and he still died so I took him back and told the lady he's got ich and the last 4 iv bought from you had inch and her response was o ya we have been running treatments thru the tanks for ich. So obviously if you know that the fish you are selling have ich why the hell do you keep selling them I will never return to this store let alone and other pet smart they don't care about there customers all they care about is that green piece of paper read more

Over a month ago I made a reservation to have my dog boarded at this Petsmart location for the weekend. I asked all of the questions you could possibly think of....especially emphasizing vaccination policy and if I need to bring proof in. They said they would call my veterinarian and get the information I even provided them with the number and then said they would call me if I needed to get any vaccinations prior to bringing her in. Not receiving a phone call with any problems I proceeded to bring my little girl in. First time ever boarding her anywhere. After doing check in paperwork for at least 10 minutes they asked about proof of vaccination I told them that I was informed that they were going to call the vet a month ago and notify me. They refused my dog sent me with a paper basically saying figure it out here are some Spots. I will not be returning because of this. Boarding her is a stressful situation and they were not understanding at all. My dog is completely vaccinated and has been to petsmart for grooming and in their system. Very disappointed they weren't able to hold her for a couple hours to call considering they told me they would get the information from my vet faxed to them. read more

I have taken my dog here countless time and have never had an issue what so ever. This past week I dropped my dog off and noticed that the entire staff looked brand new to me. Well, I will NEVER leave my dog at this PetsMart again. I recv'd 2 phone calls during the week that my dog had been taken to the vet. First she was throwing up a lot on Monday, this wasn't overly alarming and I thought nothing of it. Then on Thursday I got a phone call that she had been involved in an 'altercation!' My 9 year old beagle was attacked by a 18 month old german shepherd. They assured me it was the other dog who started it, but in the end MY DOG needed to be put under sedation and given 5 stitches. My dog was taken to Banfield and about 2 hours after I got the phone call that my dog was hurt the vet called to tell me she was fine and ready for pick up. Banfield HAD no clue I was out of the country and that PetsHotel would be picking my dog back up. Finally the day came I got to rescue my dog from this nightmare and I noticed yet another new employee. She was probably 5' tall and maybe 90 pounds, when I saw her I thought that one of the employees younger sisters must be helping out. She looked 12. After paying full price for my dogs stay, and not a single employee saying sorry for what happened I asked if someone was in the room with the dogs at the time. Sure enough the 12 year old looking girl said she was the one in there!?!? What the hell is a small petite child going to do if a GERMAN SHEPHERD gets aggressive? On my way out I bumped into the stores assistant manager and explained my frustrations and again not a thing was done to rectify the situation or attempt to keep me as a customer. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET AT THIS PLACE. read more

This is a review for the PetsHotel at this location. This was my first time boarding my dog after adopting her. She is a scared rescue-- very skittish and hand-shy. The employees at the PetsHotel were so sweet and gentle with her! I let them know that she might cower when being handled and when I came to pick her up they all gushed about her being a sweet dog. They gave me a report card about how she did during her stay and they even fed her a doggie ice cream for free because it was her first time there. They made sure everything they fed her was grain-free per her allergy. They were even happy to talk to me about her when I called halfway through the stay to check up on her. If it is your first stay with them, make sure to bring your dog's vaccination records with you and check-in will be a breeze. I'm so happy with this service and I highly recommend the Taylorsville Petsmart! read more

On the way home from work I remembered that I needed to pickup pet supplies. While I was at PetSmart I set up an appointment at the Groomer's. I love that I am able to take care of several items under the same roof. Everyone there knows our pets by name. I saw our dog trainer and she wanted to know about or pup. Our dog had all of classes from puppy - advanced and " Canine Citizen". She is excellent. I can't even describe how wonderful she is. We have referred her service to many of our friends. There are quite a few similar stores that are closer to home. We choose this PetSmart because of the people who work there. We can get our supplies on-line or at any store. read more

My sweet pup is a rescue and can be very temperamental as she was severely abused prior to me rescuing her. We've always had great customer service, workers are friendly & knowledgeable. We always find what we need to keep our dog healthy & happy! Received a litter box for a gift and it ended up having two tops and no bottom. So I go here (nearest petsmart which is 15 min away) and go to exchange the two tops for a top and a bottom. The lady at the counter says I can't return it here but have to go back to the original location (Salt Lake City) because it would mess up their inventory leaving them with a litter box with no top. From what I understand they are a HUGE chain and can't spare this for a customer. Terrible customer service and will never go here. Waste of a half hour. read more

Becki is tempermental. She use to give our dog good grooming but not so the last couple of times. Once some of his nails were cut much too short into the quick. I mentioned that the next time he went & left him again for full grooming asking for his Schnauzer skirting to be trimmed too. She said his fur was matted but I disagreed saying he needed to be brushed & that was included in his bath. When we picked him up he looked like a sheared sheep. I complained to the manager who said they would credit our next visit but we haven't been back since. read more
