I am a frequent customer of PetSmart Grooming. I usually have a wonderful experience, but I canceled my dog's grooming appointment on the spot after witnessing questionable and worrisome behavior from the staff. I walked in for my appointment and the rep was working on a pup. She immediately acknowledged me and said she would be right with me, so I told her to take her time...no worries. She precedes to bring down the pup, all while sighing and clearly expressing some sort of frustration. It is the holidays after all, so I totally understand. It was noticeable, but not worrisome. She walks to the back to let the groomer that would be working on my pup know that I was there for the appointment. At this point, I witness one of the staffers firmly, almost aggressively, telling a dog "no" and "stop." I immediately begin to question whether I want to leave my pup here. Then, I see another groomer pull another pup from a kennel and aggressively slam the kennel door. After this, I made the decision to cancel my appointment. I felt completely uncomfortable leaving my dog there. I recommend you take your pups elsewhere. I will never return to this PetSmart again. I have to trust that my pup will be treated well, and, unfortunately, this staff made me feel that my dog and other dogs are in an unsafe environment. I called PetSmart Customer Service and the store manager to inform them of this incident. My concern is mostly for all of the other pups that will walk through those doors. read more

If I could give 0 stars this location would have it. Their customer service is extremely poor. I noticed only one employee working on the floor to help, so I ask them to help me with something that was on the other side of the store... They said they'd page someone to meet me over at the department I needed help in and when I get there no one was there.. When an employee finally shows up they helped somebody else and then WALKED AWAY without asking if I needed any help. When I called them out in their shitty customer service the is when the employee finally acknowledged me. Employee was extremely rude when they walked up stating they that they thought already served the customer that paged for help and then kept asking what I needed assistance with multiple times and after I repeatedly told them why I paged someone for help. My brother attempted to take our dog to the pet groomer for a bath and a nail trim. They refused to take him because he was scared and hunched down on the ground not wanting to move. The groomer gave up after a minute to get him to move stating he was too resistive, and didn't want to try to help him feel comfortable being there for the first time. We suggested that they tried treats to get him to move and the groomer stated, with an attitude, that we were supposed to supply the treats, but no where on the site stated that. We tried to have them just clip his dew claws and she again put very minimal effort to get him to move and then refused to do it. Will never go back to this location again. read more

A pet store is a pet store. Lots of everything you need for your pampered pet. This is the only location who sells the engraveable, albeit laser, tags so here I am I line for a collar and tag that my kitty lost. Of course I had to pick up the only collar without a price, there were only 900 or so collars on the display but I had to get that one. Seems a store could empower salespeople to guesstimate a price and as a courtesy simply make the customers day, but no, the clerk had to leave the checkstand and find the right price back at the display. I apologized to the customers behind me and thanked them for their patience (noticed the clerk didn't do this). Anyway, it was a relatively painless process, the wait was minimal but you know how some customers can be. This store is out of the way for me, but when I need an item that isn't stocked at my local Petco I can usually find it here. read more

We brought our Pitty who is 1 years old for a week during the summer and he seemed super needy after I just assumed he missed us. We took him back for a weekend and we saw there was a vet there which was weird we asked is everything ok? They said yes. when we picked our dog up. We took our dog home and he had this weird cough and last night now 5 days after picking him up with this weird cough. Hes been throwing up and shivering and not eating. We called the kennel inside to ask again if the overnight was okay and then they decided to disclose there was a dog influenza outbreak. No call, we had to call them to ask. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN THE LACK OF LETTING OWNERS KNOW. Our pup stayed Oct 1st-2nd ONE NIGHT! Was infected heads up. waiting for the manager to call us back for an apology and a refund. I am appreciative of the fact that PetSmart is open and accepting pets for grooming services. I usually would go to another pet spa, but they are closed due to the pandemic. I am rating this PetSmart for grooming services, not for retail. I took my dog for a bath a few weeks ago. Due to COVID, I understand new procedures and protocols are in place. But, the wait to drop off and then pick up my dog was significant. Luckily, I was able to wait and was not in a rush. In terms of the grooming, my baby was bathed thoroughly, and her fur was very smooth and silky. I'd bring her back, but will anticipate the wait. read more

They understood that my dog can be aggressive at times and he didn't' seem stressed at all after his visit. This is officially my new go to grooming salon for My baby. read more

I originally scheduled a grooming appointment with Emily 3 plus weeks in advance. The day before the appointment i got a confirmation e-mail and they sneakily switched me with Isela. No shade towards her, but i selected the groomer for a reason. I do not live close to this location, i specifically make the drive just to get Emily. I make arrangements for work to take my dog here so i didn't cancel the appointment because i already asked for the time from work. Isela didn't do so well, but i prefer the amazing work that Emily does on my Pomeranian. Her head was not blended at all and it needed to be trimmed a bit more on the bottom, it looked like my pom had a bobble head. I don't know why they switched my appointment last minute, super annoying. What's the point of selecting your own groomer if you're not going to get them. Not sure if i will be coming back here. read more

I used to bring my little guy to the doggie day camp here. But, they have put my dog in a cage the last couple of times. They said I requested he be in day care and not camp. WHY would I pay someone to put my guy in a cage when I can just leave him home for the few hours I want him there to play and socialize? Their reasoning is just plain stupidity. They also dont seem to have very much product any more. The last three times I've been in to pick up dog and, especially, cat food it is just nonexistent. Taking my business elsewhere. The workers here are absolute troopers, and extremely kind. However, I worry that the PetSmart policy for dog boarding may be lax in terms of caring for the animals. My dog returned to me smelling strongly of urine (like downtown SF level), and with a bleeding cut on her ear. While I understand the abundance of other dogs may inhibit the level of care, I probably won't be taking my dog back. Weird vibes overall... Awesome staff though! read more

If I could give a 0 I would. The cashier system in Pet Smart is beyond disbelief. People stand in long lines while one or two cashiers check out the one's lucky enough to get to the front. Management doesn't seem to be too concerned that people are standing in these long lines. If they were, they would make sure their customers are in and out without feeling like they just left the DMV. This Pet Smart is disorganized and often times, messy and smells of urine (obviously it's going to smell considering all of the dogs and cats that come through, but there shouldn't be a strong oder of urine throughout the store). I have yet to see any of the store staff actually smile at the customers. read more

This is my go to pet store and I like this PetSmart location best. They have plenty of parking and the people who work there are extremely cheerful and willing to help you when you have questions. They have pet adoptions; fish; chinchillas; birds; hamsters; etc. I usually visit the store to buy cat food, but have purchased fish and aquarium accessories in the past. They have a Banfield veterinary service adjacent to the store. I only brought one of my cats there once because it is pricey. Additionally, they have a pet hotel in the back. They separate the males from the female dogs and you can view them through the glass during their exercise time. The one negative comment I would have to say is that sometimes it takes a while to check out, even when there's only one person in line in front of you. I don't know what the cause is. read more

He has been going to Petsmart Doggy day care and the Petshotel ever since they opened. This review is way over due but I would like to thank the complete staff there, just to name a few... I just received a call from petsmart pet hotel in Torrance inviting us to a puppy playdate at the store on Sunday! I was so excited and accepted as we have been working on socializing our puppy for the past month or so and we are signed up the begin training at petsmart on Saturday. I just received a call back saying we arent allowed to attend because our puppy is a pit bull mix. Why was I even invited? We are signed up for training so they should have all the information on her breed. Pretty disappointing. read more

Extremely disappointed with the job done by the groomer here, I specifically asked for a Bear look on her pretty face and not too take off too much hair and they mistakenly took off a lot more than I asked for. my poodle/Shih Tzu mix looks terrible now and is patchy all over!!! They missed numerous spots and just did an absolutely awful job!!! This establishment lost my business for good! Used to get all my dogs their treats and toys here and now this business will be giving to different places in the surrounding area. read more

This review is specifically for Joseph in the grooming salon. A couple of months ago we found ourselves in the company of a severely neglected dog. The dog's coat condition made it clear that he hadn't been groomed recently at all, if he'd ever been groomed. We knew that the first step to getting him checked by a vet and healthy was to get the matted fur off of him. He was skittish and didn't trust anyone (who can blame him?) and while my husband usually grooms our dogs himself, this new foundling was too emotionally broken and scared to let him. We took the little guy (named Benji) to Joseph, hoping he'd be able to at least improve his coat condition, and what Joseph did was nothing short of pure magic. His patience, calm demeanor and skill allowed him to groom Benji so well that we were shocked at the dog under the mats! I will post a before and after photo of Benji. It's remarkable! Today we took Benji back to Joseph for another haircut and he did just as fabulous of a job. We watched part of the grooming session and it was clear that Joseph respects the dogs he grooms. When Benji got distracted or fidgety, Joseph calmed him and waited for Benji to be okay to continue the grooming. Even when Benji snapped at him, Joseph remained professional, and more importantly, compassionate. I HIGHLY recommend Joseph and feel safe saying that he will be Benji's groomer from now on, no doubt. read more

If anyone was judging me as I walked up to the register with 15 cases of cat food (and I'm not saying I didn't deserve to be judged...), they did a good job hiding it. Professional staff, always helpful. Walk by the pets for sale and the cats for adoption carefully or you may not go home with just the food/leash/treats you came to buy. They have a lot more toys and accessories for dogs, but I think that's pretty common in any store. Everyone wore masks and tried to observe social distancing which I appreciated, and even the dogs tried extra hard not to ask for pets. read more

I have been here a few times, mostly with my son and his girlfriend. They mostly look at the fishies and fish supplies. I love to see what cats are there, however, I am sad they're there. They are up for adoption, I hope they get adopted soon! When we come here, we are usually bringing in a dog or two to be groomed. They do a decent job. Our dogs are short-haired, so there's really not a whole lot to do with them. Trimming their nails is the biggest task, so I am glad they do it. We used to have a frog and I'd come here for some live crickets. Sometimes the person bagging them couldn't count or they'd put dead ones in as part of the count. No good. As a member of the store's reward, we'd used to get coupons for some free crickets with the purchase of a certain dollar amount. I enjoy watching the dogs play in the play areas. The store is always pretty neat and tidy! They seem to have a good selection of just about any pet items you'd need/want. read more

Terrible service. Not enough cashiers. The one they have on the first station all the time is lifeless and rude. That's the norm. This last episode, I've been there three days in a row to pick up som MD dry cat food, each time no food although they say it will be in, but then no one has time to check the pallet to seeing it is in there yet! Well I'm sorry. I thought the purpose of having product shipped to the store was to put it on the shelves so customer an buy it. Then today they tell me there is none! Whomever is in charge of ordering, you are doing a lousy job and should be fired! This is the model of how business go out of business. Something I've noticed over the years is that companies that feel the need to put hyper-positive words in their names end up having the worst service. In the name of accuracy, I like to come up with more fitting nicknames for them, such as PetDumb or Worst Buy (don't even get me started on them). Long story somewhat shorter, I usually buy my cat supplies at a local shop, but I saw an advertisement for PetDumb and decided to check them out. Big mistake - not only did they pull a bait and switch by refusing to honor the advertised price, the manager took an extremely condescending tone when "explaining" why the ol' switcheroo was taking place. There's no call for talking down to people. I'll stick to my local shop. Not a fan of big corporate chains in general - they may be okay when you're hungry and just want to grab a burger, but there's something particularly creepy about them when it comes to something as beloved as a pet. read more

My husband made an appointment a month ago to spay our female dog. This is the first time we have a female Fido. They scheduled him yesterday for drop off at 7:15am and was told to not give food or water for 8hrs for the operation when the appointment was made and nothing else. Lo and behold , when he got there he was told that it was a pre-requisite to have our pet's last day of cycle be 8 weeks prior to the day of the spay. No one freaking asked or told him about this important information when he was given the schedule!!! We had to cancel that spay because it would be risky to proceed . This is very unprofessional of their staff who made the schedule to assume we just knew that the spay schedule has something to do with the Fido's heat cycle. Either she's under-qualified to do the spay scheduling or need to review their policy. Shame on Petco and Banfield to hire such an incompetent person! We didn't have this issue with our first male pet who was neutered years ago. read more

I placed an online order for two items with in store pickup. It said on the website the order would be ready in three hours or less and you would get an email when it was ready. It was only two hours and I didn't get the email but was passing by and wanted to check if the order was ready. There was a lady who helped me with red hair who looked up the order and saw it wasn't ready yet. She became really agitated that I came in before the order was ready and said "you're not supposed to come in until you get the email so you're gonna have to wait". Obviously I knew I may have to wait however the attitude was not necessary. The store was busy but that's not an excuse for poor customer service. One item wasn't in stock as well. Overall, I do not recommend this location or online orders with in store pick up. The PetSmart by Hawthorne and PCH has much nicer employees. read more

My past experiences at this particular location has been great. Great team, nice clean store but here lately, no so much. There is a lady that assisted me and she was "rough around the edges". She spoke to the other staff members with such disdain. Very questionable behavior. If you hate your job, find another one. Pets Hotel Review Pat! Pat! Pat! She is THE BEST employee ever! She is so amazing with animals and made my cat's first stay incredible. I recommended the hotel to my mother since her house was going to be fumigated and she needed a safe place for her fur babies to stay. There was a bit of a mix-up at the pet hotel when my mother arrived, but, my lovely Pat made our day! As soon as I gave her a call, she took REALLY good care of my mom and her two fur babies! I had a 12:30 appointment and drove to the wrong location. I called and said I was on my way and I would arrive at 12:46 as I rushed across town. They told me 12:45 was their cutoff. I asked them to check him in over the phone. They refused. I arrived at 12:46 and they said he was ONE MINUTE too late and turned us away. Review is for the Petsmart Hotel. Our 3 dogs got kennel cough, fleas & one had a really red eye when we picked him up that is now infected. On top of the cost of boarding 3 dogs for 2 nights, now we have to pay for 3 vet visits, more flea medications, kennel cough medication and meds for the eye problem. This PetSmart has everything, and I will definitely be back. The team members are very knowledgeable of their products. I wanted to add fish to my fish tank and they had a wide variety. I've been to many PetSmarts before but this stores customer service is great. Jessica (I believe that's her name) and Fernando assisted me in picking out fish for my aquarium, and they were very energetic, professional, and knowledgeable. Although everyone had masks on you can see that the smile was there, and that they were ready to assist. Amy was great as well as she explained to me how the points can turn into credit.
