I had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Stanton Veterinary in San Carlos, and I feel truly grateful to have found a veterinarian who cares so deeply about the animals he treats. I brought my dog Ollie in for a cherry eye issue, and from the moment we arrived, Dr. Stanton was incredibly kind, patient, and thorough. He took the time to explain exactly what was going on, answered all of my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable with every step of the process. You can immediately tell that he genuinely cares about the well-being of the animals and the families who love them. One thing I especially appreciated was how transparent he is about costs. He clearly explained the pricing upfront so there were no surprises, which I think every pet owner can appreciate. His pricing is very fair and reasonable, and the level of care he provides is outstanding. Ollie is doing great, and I'm so thankful for the thoughtful care he received. Experiences like this make such a difference when you're trusting someone with a beloved pet. I have two dogs--a 14-pound Chihuahua/King Charles mix and an 11-year-old Black Lab/German Shepherd--and after this experience, I wouldn't take them anywhere else. Brought my 6 month old kitten to Dr.Stanton because we saw so many great reviews. We had concerns over our kitten's bad breath. Dr.Stanton dismissed our concerns and asked if it was my first time ever owning a cat, seemingly finding humor over our concern. After we told him that our previous cat received an injection for the symptoms they share in common, he bragged about his 30 years experience in the field and said he's never heard about an injection to help with bad breath before. The injection was an antibiotic that helped with our previous cat's gum infection, so we mentioned this to Dr.Stanton. He didn't think there was anything wrong with my kitten's bad breath and said that an injection would be too "invasive." We took our kitten to another vet for a second opinion. His gums were obviously swollen and he had an infection. This new vet addressed our concerns, gave him an antibiotic injection, and our kitten is healthy again and we can now enjoy his fresh breath kisses! Foul odor in the mouth isn't normal and is something that should be taken seriously. read more

I am out of work and I haven't been taking care of my cats like I should be. I haven't 2 Senior cats and it's time to get back on track. My cats needed care and I wasn't sure about how much it all would cost for 2 cats but I wasn't sure pleasantly surprised after getting care from this Vet Service. I made an appointment online and when I arrived there was a short wait but the doctor came in quickly. My cats needed care needed an ear flush and a few shots and he found 2 teeth that are getting bad. In all it wasn't as much as it could have been had I gone to the other vet. They due dental work, that's new and I'll be taking my cat back to get her 2 teeth fixed. It was just below $400. Had I go to the other vet, it would have been close to $1k. Their costs are very reasonable and they were all very kind and gentle with the cats. read more

Terrible experience here with Dr. Stanton - ordered a bunch of xrays and tests, only afterward for Dr. Stanton to say 'I don't know'. On email/calls they are also unresponsive, and just send raw lab results with no vet insight/analysis - useless to the average person. I was also given off label prescriptions, things not approved by the FDA for cats, when there are plenty of better alternatives available. This has been a nightmare, and only saw for a couple visits. Front office is also incompetent and a big time waster Go anywhere else in the bay area, don't waste your time and money here. read more

Was able to secure a same day appointment for my dog who was in need of vaccines. Dr. Stanton was patient and answered my questions. I didn't feel rushed. He also made great recommendations about switching allergy meds. The person at check in was really nice and the vet tech was also very great. The team worked through their lunch break so we could get everything done. The vet area/rooms were really clean. My pup was happy the whole time! read more

Dr. Staton was great with my cats! Helped me to understand what is going on with the heart of one of them and informed me of what was best to do to help with his heart condition. Dr. Stanton and the nurses, front desk are amazing. They fully listened to my rescue GSD mix's history and the nurses and doctor approached him in a loving way trying to friends with him first (befriending). They put my boy at ease over the duration of the appointment and getting Bordetella vaccine was lot more easier. I moved here from Out of area and have used VCA in the past. The Local VCAs are not that good and seemed only after money and provided incorrect diagnosis/evaluation. read more

This is not a review for the Vet, but rather for the office. I came in for a routine allergy shot. Was met by a young lady who clearly did not know her business and told me the shot was only going to last 2 weeks. Thankfullly a little more experienced lady came out from the office and corrected her. Then they give me an estimate. I was charged 50$ for the tech visit which did not happen ( the dog went in and out in a matter of less than one minute. Certainly there was no visit. ). I was charged 5$ for miscellaneus, which nobody seemed to know for what was for. As per my dog body weight he was supposed to get a single 40mg vial (which they do exist), but somehow they decided to give him 2 different dosages, a 20mg and 30mg and they charged me twice for each dosage, that is $100x2. Result: I spent double that what I was supposed to ( 250$ instead of 100$), my dog got sick and threw up for the rest of the day. Not a good experience. read more

I can't say enough about Dr Stanton and his crew! When Apollo had a suspected Foxtail in his paw his regular vet said I'd have to wait 3 weeks to get him in! we panicked! I hesitated to take him her because of my previous experience with Banifield, but I read the review and their web page. seeing they were no longer under that management I called. They got him in that day! and immediately got him sedated to dig out whatever was possibly in there. He was though did it in the room with my son and boyfriend and when I arrived, talked me through what he did, and what was next. offered options to help us make choices based on what we wanted and cost. the honesty and concern was so welcoming. I took our cat there and he was again, honest, and loves his job! Makes me so happy. I am only bummed the dental equipment is not in place yet, Because I can't find a decent animal dentist nearby. I brought both my cats because of blood in the litter box and I didn't know which cat. I was able to make a same day urgent care appointment and we were seen on time. The vet spent a lot of time with both cats, and after some diagnostics she identified the culprit. We got him an injection antibiotic and some pain meds and he is doing great!! Easy to make an appointment, clean exam rooms and staff was nice. read more
