I took my border collie in for a bath for the 1st time at PetSmart on Azusa, West Covina. The girls were helpful in suggesting other services available for him; nail trim, tooth brushing etc. Some she said he did & didn't need, so I felt I wasn't getting taking advantage of. My dog is nervous, although has been to other salons or mobile grooming, but they did their best to acquaint themselves with him and make him comfortable. He did very well & I am happy with the work they did. I will be returning. Only thing I wish was different is all the loud noise & buzzing sounds that freak (any) dog out. read more

I came in to shop and asked to use the restroom. I had with me a shopping bag from the Salvation Army next door where I had just purchased clothing. The woman I asked for the restroom code from very rudely said "is that bag your own clothes or...." Very snobby as if implying that I was about to change or something. Not sure what she was implying but I told her it was from the Salvation Army. She's then told me "not to be rude..." well, you just lost my business because you were rude. PetSmart, do better. This review is solely about the Grooming Department. Pet owners beware. My Shih Tzu is 7 years old. About 6 years ago I took my dog to the grooming salon and when I picked my dog up, she had an eye ulcer. Her eye had a small hole and you could tell the first couple layers of her eye membrane had been poked. I noticed the ulcer as soon as we got home and I decided I would not be taking my dog back to this place. Several years later I thought I'd give this place another try since it is so close to my home. I quickly fell in love with Iris. I tried a couple of other groomers when Iris was not available and they're ok too, except Marcos. Marcos did such a bad job on my small dog. Her fur was uneven and her ears did not match one another. On Thursday, April 18, 2019, my dog was taken to the groomer to see Iris. She came home with two cute bows. On Friday, April 19, 2019, I take my dog to the vet for her annual checkup. She goes to the Banfield in the same Petsmart that she was just groomed at. I get an urgent call from the vet stating that one of my dog's bows was tied to her actual ear and this loss of blood flow caused a hematoma. The vet sent me the pictures and I was also given a 12 day supply of medication for my dog. When I touch both of my dog's ears, one ear is about 6 times as thick as the other ear. Besides the injury caused to my dog, I was appalled by the manager's lack of empathy when I explained the situation to her. I spoke to a manager named Laura. Laura seemed very familiar with the incident before I explained everything. Laura said she watched the video of Iris placing the bows on my dog's fur and that I must have a child at home that moved the bow. Laura's lack of empathy was disheartening. Instead of wondering about the well being of my dog, Laura insisted that I was at fault for my dog's injury. You've all been warned. It has taken me two bad experiences to finally say enough is enough. Update: The following day the grooming manager, Iris, called me and said, "I apologize for you feeling like I did something to your dog. I know I did not tie a bow around her ear." Iris did not give me a chance to explain that my complaint is not about her tying a bow around my dog's ear. I'd like to clarify that when the bow was tied to my dog's fur, a piece of her ear skin was grabbed and therefore a small piece of her skin was secured with a rubber band. I would like to see this video footage that has been taken. I'm unclear how anyone could 100% know that a small part of my dog's ear was grabbed when Iris tied the bow on. To add insult to injury, Iris then told me that she would no longer service my dog in the grooming department. Iris did not even inquire about the well being of my dog, she was more concerned with telling me that she did nothing wrong and she won't service my dog again. Well Iris, you don't need to worry about not servicing my dog. I will never take her back to you because it's clear that you are not even interested in the well being of my dog. I would not entrust you with the gnat that keeps flying around my fruit bowl. read more

I am so happy after taking my puppy here for her first grooming! I called this morning to book an appointment, Desiree let me know 1pm was a good time to come by. I walked in and she was assessed. Unfortunately my poor baby had some matting around her feet that were quickly pointed out to me. I'm so thankful the groomer let me know that it would be a better idea for me to brush her out or be charged an additional fee. She suggested some brushes that would help me get the job done more efficiently. I took her back in after brushing the knots out and she was ready to get groomed! I made an appointment to have my medium sized German Shepard groomed. I openly told the staff that she gets nervous when going to appointments, but is not aggressive whatsoever and is fairly calm. Well, 20 minutes later I get a call stating "your dog needs to be sent home," I ask "why?" "Because she's nervous and is scared to get out of the crate" My sister and I arrive at the store, my sister goes to the back to retrieve our dog and we are met with attitude from the two women in the front. The first one screams "they're picking up the German Shepard!" The second one is holding an aggressive dog that is barking and lunging at my dog then has the nerve to say "your dog should be on a leash" all while my dog is sitting calmly and patiently, waiting for her collar to be put on. At this point I am frustrated with the staff because of the time that was wasted because they couldn't put away this aggressive dog who was BARKING and LUNGING at my dog the entire time. Perhaps if the other dog was behaved, my dog wouldn't have been frightened and would have been able to go through with her grooming appointment. As I am trying to situate my dog and leave the room, the woman in the front is going on and on still trying to promote services saying "if you pay an extra $50 next time we won't put her in the cage and do a quick service." I said "I'm fine right now," but she continues badgering me about all these perks that can be made if we reschedule and pay an extra fee. All of this because the grooming staff couldn't put away this aggressive dog and be patient with my dog as she was clearly nervous being crammed in a small cage while this aggressive dog was barking and lunging at her. Did they ask that dog to go home? No, most likely because it was an expensive breed so I bet their commission would have been much bigger than my simple appointment of bathing and brushing my dog. Staff was rude and incompetent, the only person who was apologetic and patient with the situation was the groomer herself and I apologize as my frustration was not towards her. It was towards the two other women in the front who clearly don't have patience to handle dogs unless they are getting a good commission out of it. Needless to say I will not be returning. read more

This place is rarely crowded. You can get in and out quickly, which I appreciate. In general, the prices are not the cheapest for regular generic items. They do sell the specialty brand that my cat eats, which can only be purchased at PetSmart or PetCo. They often have sales, which are worth the trip. I like the clearance items and the sheer variety of merchandise. read more

now I just left the grooming service and I am BEYOND disappointed. I made an appointment with Desiree who has NO sense of customer service and is not personable at all. From the start I got the vibe she did not want to work on my puppy. I didn't even make it to the parking lot before I got the call that my dog "was going crazy" and I needed to come back. She had begun to work on him and didn't even bother brushing off the hair she had shaved off. I am covered in hair and so is my car. For my first experience with this Petsmart grooming I will NOT be going back and Desiree has everything to do with that. Terrible service, unpersonable staff, awful experience. BUT they have the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff and managers that will help you find just the right things for your fur baby or your not so furry pet. and if it's a grooming service you need for your dog, this is the absolute place to go. the staff in the grooming salon truly love dogs, and would not be working so hard for your dog if they didn't! I've seen all of the hard work they've done, and I tip them every time they provide for my dog. It isn't easy giving spa treatments to a reluctant furry animal, so always tip! desirae and chloe are always the sweetest and are very skillful at what they do! marcos always takes his time at check in and check out to make sure you get exactly what you want for your dog. and all the bathers love and enjoy my doggerino even though he can be a biggo brat! 10/10 would buy them all a beer. read more

I have been going to this PetSmart since my dog was a puppy and I had always had a positive experience with the staff. Up until my last two visits. Visit #1 I went in to purchase prescription food. I had a prescription card from banfield for the food, but I didn't realize they had expiration dates on them. I had recently received a new prescription for the food from another vet but I had mailed that prescription out to CHEWY to get the food autoshipped, in the mean time I wanted to purchase a bag at PetSmart. I did have a picture of the prescription and I showed it to I believe her name was Sherry but, she said she still couldn't sell me the food. The card I had was expired and she couldn't use the picture of the prescription I had. Ok I understood that she couldn't sell it to me without a valid prescription but, she was very rude and short with me. Visit #2 So I come in again today with a physical prescription from my vet (which is not banfield) and guess who's the sales associate at checkout... yup Sherry the shrew. I go to checkout I have an unexpired physical copy of my prescription and I'm handing it to her and she looks at it and said you need a card from banfield and they're closed. She refused to sell me the food even though I had a valid prescription. Again if its a store policy I understand it isn't her fault, but she again was so grumpy, unapologetic, and unfriendly. She needs to work on her customer service skills. I was just trying to purchase prescription dog food not narcotics. My whole experience with Sherry was a negative. read more

PetSmart's grooming department has always been great when it comes to customer service and grooming my dog. So it comes to no surprise that my first time here at this brand spankin' new branch in West Covina was nothing but a good experience. I called to set up an appointment and the groomer, Patty was very helpful and nice over the phone. She was just as nice in person and was very attentive and careful with my dog. She did an awesome job grooming her and I would make this branch my place to go to from now on. The store itself is well stocked and clean as it is a new store. Very convenient for me as far as distance and the prices on the pet products are reasonable. Review for Grooming Salon only. Went here to get my dog's nails cut. Was floored to see Chris in the grooming department; working as the Grooming Manager. I made a complaint about him through corporate Petsmart years ago when I had a bad experience with him at the Eastland Center. I cannot believe they allow this person to continue working with animals. I witnessed him mishandling a dog back then, and I made sure to tell them I did not want Chris working with my dog. He handled this poor dog like it was a stuffed animal. It was a very quiet and sweet dog, wasn't giving him any trouble, and he wasn't talking to it or anything, just roughly jerking it around. It was upsetting to watch, I'm sure the owner of this dog would have been upset too. I heard a rumor from someone at Eastland who said the reason Chris works with Petsmart is because he knows someone. Friend or family, someone hired him because they knew him. It sure as hell is not because he's good with animals. He doesn't care about them. He should not be working with them. As long as Chris is working at this location, I will not be back. Frankly it makes me question taking my dog to any Petsmart groomer's because at the end of the day they are continuing to employ someone to work with animal's who shouldn't be. And yes, I did speak with the manager about Chris. He did not take me seriously at all. He seemed quite shocked at what I had to tell him, and didn't seem to believe a word I said. He said they get compliments and even letters all the time about Chris, which if that's true... Chris has learned to be a great actor. Very disappointing. read more

My two friends have service dogs and we went into this Petsmart store to buy some treats, food, and grooming brushes. The dogs are very well behaved and even had vests on identifying them as Service Dogs. A grouchy old gal was watching how our dogs would obey are commands as we shopped and then said we can not be training our dogs in the store. She said if we want to train our dogs we need to get into their classes. I spoke to the manager about this and she said it was fine. But the embarrassment and stress of the grumpy old lady employee was just intolerable. We quickly got our stuff, paid at the register and left. There is a Federal law that is called the American's with Disabilities Act that allows service dog in public places. There are harsh fines for breaking this law. We didn't want anymore stress than this bitch already gave us. I am shocked that this store is not current on this law. We just brushed it off as ignorance. read more

My puppies (who are not actually puppies anymore) hate coming here because they love the comforts of home. They get all excited to cruise in the car, excited to go in and then they figure out that I'm leaving them there for 4 hours and have to be dragged to the back crying. All this stress is worth it though because they come out looking & smelling spotless! It's worth paying PetSmart to give your dog a bath because they do a better job than you ever can, all for about $30. The dogs fur has never been softer and they come out smelling so fresh & so clean. My favorite part of the whole visit is the cute bandana & doggy report card. Gotta make sure my kids are well behaved and get A's on their report card. They get pretty busy on the weekend so it's best to call by Thursday or Friday for a weekend appointment. read more

Under normal, ungroomed, conditions, my cockapoo Teddy resembles the working side of an industrial mop head. With eyes. How one 25 lb creature grows hair that would make a New Zealand sheep jealous I don't know, but he does. It is my duty to ensure that on a regular basis that does not happen, and to help me I employ the services of Petsmart grooming. Chloe is Teddy's groomer and if he hasn't been to see her in awhile, it's like those make over shows where one scruffy, wild haired dog goes in and then a sleek, cat-walking supermodel dog comes out.  Oh and Ted comes out happy too, which is important to me. I've had Ted for the better part of a decade so I know when he's had a good experience and when he hasnt. It's in the demeanor, which all dog owners can attest to. Do your fur friend a favor and get him seen to by the groomer I've trusted with my Teddy for years. You too can have your dog be his/her supermodel self, and Chloe will make that happen. read more

This review is for the dog training classes only. Don't bother taking your dogs here! It was a complete waste of money and my dog did not learn a single trick. I understand that you need to do "homework" during the week but for the 45 minute (also, it's supposed to be an hour class but our trainer either always starts late or ends early), the trainer did little to nothing to help us with our dog, and there was only a total of 4 dogs in our class. Obviously we need help with training our dog, or we would not pay money to take them to a class! All she did was demonstrate on a dog who already knew the tricks, then told us to do the same with our dog, which we of course had a really difficult time with. Maybe if it was cheaper, but definitely not worth over $100 even for the 6 classes. Talked to my friend earlier too who apparently also took her dog to the same trainer before and she had the same experience, so it's not just my dog. Never again. read more

I went in to buy my chihuahua, wild Finch food and fish for my grandsons aquarium. All went well with the pet food; but when it came to the tropical fish, the associated look around I have to check something in the back room. I waited, when she came out she said oh! I have to check up front. She never returned. After about 15 minutes I went to the counter to pay for the dog food. She was just standing at the front of the store chatting with a coworker. Ive been taking my dog, Koa, here for his grooming needs. Almost every month and sometimes more often. Today, we had an appointment with Morgan @ 4:30pm. First time with this stylist. I didn't worry since I've always had great experience with previous stylists. Anyway, I dropped koa off. And within 10 minutes, I got a call saying that Koa was uncooperative and she couldn't bathe him. I never had an issue with koa taking a bath before, ever. Even the employees say there's never been anyone more excited than Koa whenever I bring him in. All of a sudden, Morgan refused to bathe him. Guess she didn't want to do her last appointment. She "cancelled" our appointment right before closing time so the blame goes on us and not her not wanting to do her job. So disappointed with petsmart. What a shame. But guess it's time to bring Koa and our business somewhere else. read more
