I come here a lot with my cat and dog, due to Covid-19 they weren't allowing any owners in with their pets. We arrived 15/30mins before opening and put the cats name on the board, we took him there for a uti check. After an hour and a half of waiting in the car the cat started to pant heavily so I took him to the front door, they took him in without any information or anything and just put him on the floor right next to the door. 30 mins later I go to check on hiM and they say it'll be another hour while a lady gets out from her car behind me and starts to yell saying she's been here since 8:45 and has been watching people walking in ahead of her. I turned to the lady to simply ask how much longer it will be and if she had any more information about my cat and she just hands him to me and says to go somewhere else. "There's nothing we can do for him so here" after 2 hours she tells us to go somewhere else. read more

The doctor explained everything in detailed and made sure I understood what was going on with my dog Samson. I even took my other dog Oreo in for his shots the next day. I absolutely love this place. Cheap prices and quality care. I have read other reviews and what it seems that people don't understand is that this is a walk in clinic so of course there is going to be a wait. If you don't have time to wait then maybe you should make an actual appointment at another vet. I was referred to this vet by my dog's primary doctor to look at a mast under his chin which is already a scare for any dog owner that it could be cancerous. The doctor was not only insensitive to the situation but continued to be rude and argumentative because I questioned our options and if it was truly required to be removed or if a biopsy would suffice. I never questioned his expertise the entire visit but he continued to be hostile the entire visit & not only did he bring up that I work for a law firm but told me I was acting like an attorney because I had questions!! WHAT MOTHER WOULDN'T HAVE QUESTIONS!! And what doctor would treat you that way after you have serious inquiries!! This doctor was completely unprofessional & a joke!!! Our dogs came here since they were a puppy and this is the first time writing a bad review for this place. We only off on the weekend and Petworks Express open Saturday from 9:00 - 1:00 and they told me before the cutoff time for the last patient is noon. We took both of our dogs for an annual checkup and we arrived at 10:45 am. The gentleman in the front indicated that they can't take any walk-in today and ONLY NO WALK-IN TODAY. I told him we drove from Katy, and he said they already have 11 patients before us, and the doctor will leave in an hour. He also said, "you should come here around 9:00 am when we just open". I don't think we want to come back to this place anymore. I will look somewhere close to my house. Saturday morning, we need to get two kids and two dogs ready and drove 30 minutes and not able to see the doctor just because he/she has to leave at certain times even though they close at 1:00 pm. read more

I was referred to them by my friend who works as a vet technician in Pearland. She told me about her friend's experience with this place regarding her cat's declaw surgery years ago. The price was great plus her cat was doing super duper amazing after surgery! I did call like half dozen of vets and most of them are charging at least $400-$600 for the procedure! Noted that this place is for walk-in only! They have a time frame for walk-in daily. Waiting for the appointment is unavoidable. Due to their affordable prices, my cat Penelope didn't mind waiting for the appointment. From the pre-op physical exam, rabies shot all the way to her declaw procedure, everything went great!!!! They provided post op after care in details plus pain medication. The doctor must have done a great job. Penelope didn't need to take any pain medication at all! No bleeding! She was a bit dizzy for a couple of hours after surgery but other than that - all is well!!!!! I just wished that I knew them years ago. read more

I came here under the recommendation from a friend since this was my first ever vet visit with my first puppy. Obviously, I had no clue on what to expect as the previous owner had just told me my new pup, Rini, needed her second round of shots. Checking in was a breeze, just the standard questions, but once we were met with the techs and doctor, things started going downhill. You would think that with my statement to them that this was my first puppy, they would explain the procedures and vaccines thoroughly so I could understand how things worked properly and how my pup would be protected. Instead they quickly and curtly told me what they would be doing. Not once did they ask if I had any questions. It was more wam, bam, thank you ma'am, next in line kind of thing. Next thing I knew, the doctor left without a word of goodbye and left the tech in charge to tell me to go to the front to pay. I wasn't even able to ask if my puppy was a healthy weight or if she needs a certain diet or other questions I had in mind. The whole visit felt like being in a factory line where they try to spout in and out patients as quickly as possible. In my confusion, I immediately called another friend of mine to figure out if what I paid for was worth it; the total coming up to about $74 for the exam, some added fee that the consultant straight up told me was a fee to be a fee when I called them back, the DA2PPv shot, bordetella shot and the malaseb shampoo. Anyway, this is when I called the clinic back and found out that the tech forgot to give me the heartworm prevention kit and asked if I could come back to pick it up. So in addition to the shitty service, they also forgot about a medication and had me drive back to the clinic. Awesome. This was the worst experience I could have as a first time puppy owner. read more

Two months after seeing Dr. Borland, my 9 yr old dog died due to liver cancer and severe anemia; I SHOULD have been told your dog needs senior health screening. I took my dog in for shots, preventative care exam and blood was drawn to check for heartworms; at the time she had no issues. After I had to put my dog down; I went back to Petworks to see what other tests they did on her, their answer was "Nothing, you have to ask for additional tests." Are they there to inform me? I have been coming to this location for 20 years with my cats and dogs. The old vet passed away and the new vet Pappin bought the business. Betty is the first problem with this place. She is severely ADD or purposely ignores you when you are trying to explain why you are there with your pet. She listens for a second then turns away and you have to start over when she begins paying attention again. The last visit may have been the last. I missed an appointment for spaying. I called in and she said it would be a 6 week wait and no exceptions. Then my friend's daughter said she did the same (the same week) and missed the appt., so Betty told her to just come in next week. What's the difference? My friend is Hispanic and I am white. Betty is Cuban/Hispanic. This lady has always been rude to me and I never knew why until this. I'm being discriminated against by Betty because of my race. Then I was over charged because the standard spaying fee includes an exam but they charged me for an extra exam fee, not previously stated. I also paid for all of the vaccinations. Then I paid extra for blood work so I could buy heartworm tabs. I left with no tabs because Betty forgot to give them to me that day. I had some extra at home from my other dogs but when I returned a few weeks later for the heartworm tabs, Betty refused to sell them to me, basically calling me a liar, that my dog had not been on the tabs I had at home and she wanted to charge me again for the same blood tests I had already paid for and I had to bring the dog in again to do it. She told me if I didn't like it I could just go somewhere else. Pappin has a great reputation as an Orthopedic Surgeon, unfortunately he has this disrespectful, nit-wit named Betty running this clinic. Also if you pet is sick or injured, they will not treat or care for them. They say that you have to have a regular vet for that, so what am I doing coming here? read more

Amazing service and caring staff! When I visited them, I had gotten my first two cats so this was all new to me, as well as to my cats. The lady at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. The nurse and doctor took such good care of my cats. The best part about it all is that the doctor and nurse were very thorough in explaining all the health care actions they needed to take, and asked for my permission before doing anything. They handle everything so professionally with both my cats and I. I was shown the bill before they took any steps, and it was all so reasonably priced. So inexpensive! So I decided to go here because it's conveniently close by, and all the good reviews online. Once I arrived here last week on a Wednesday, I was quickly turned away due to an outbreak of Covid.So even though my wife and I were annoyed, that we took the day off to bring in our pet for a simple wellness exam, and could not get it done we were understanding. Now fast forward to Tuesday , June 30th. I decided to call before they closed to verify that they would be open and a gentleman answered and said yes, they definitely would be open from 9am-2pm and that Wellness Exams are not scheduled they are walk ins only. So on Wednesday July 1st , I show up at 10:20am and I see the open sign is off and no one at the front desk.I then proceed to call the business number and no one answers and there is not automated message informing that they would be closed as well as you can't even leave a message due to the box being full to capacity. I notice that the front windows have a notice posted saying now that the business is closed until July 11th due to a Covid outbreak. As I get in my car a woman pulls up beside me and I tell her that they seem to be closed and she says no they aren't because she has a scheduled surgery. And sure enough a older man and a woman in scrubs appeared from the back, and came out of the front door they then took the dog inside. I stop the man to ask about them seeing my pet. He then proceeded to put his hand in my face more than once to cut me off as I was speaking. I then said I called yesterday and was told to come in the following day and he said the Covid outbreak happened last night so they are not seeing any pets. I do not like that this business picks and chooses who they will and won't see.And if it is such a strong concern about Covid. Why are you still taking patients and telling others to basically get lost? It should be fair across the board. People don't even need to go in, they take the pet from your car and bring the pet out when it's done. Like I said, I didn't see any issue with them meeting the woman outside of her car, and them taking it inside.So if there is, it seems to be at their own discretion. Be warned coming here, because they don't inform you and if you show up here you just might get turned away. My advice, go to a more dependable vet clinic for peace of mind. read more

My Husband and I decided to go to this place because of how amazing the reviews was online. However, when we called them to schedule an appointment, they said " oh we only take walk in" which we were cool about it. When we showed up to the place, they said sorry we are closed because someone tested positive for COVID-19 so please come back next week. Fast forward to today, we contacted them yesterday and asked if they are open and they said "yes" and they even recommended us to come before 2:00 p.m. We showed up today and yet again!!! They said they were closed due to the same reason. Unacceptable customer service from the gentlemen that came out to greet my Husband. He kept putting his hand in my husband face to stop my husband from talking. The communication needs to be better and don't pick and choose who you want to be in your clinic. This was my first time here with my little one since her vet couldn't take any appointments for the next 2-3 weeks. I stumbled upon trying this place out since I've read positive reviews about this clinic. There is no appointment needed, so maybe the best thing to do before going is give them a call to see how long the wait was. Luckily, I went on a weekday so there was no wait and they helped us right away. I came to the front desk to fill out a form. The vet tech came and asked to take her to weigh and take her temperature. Following that, the vet quickly checked up on everything as if she was in a rush. My pup got her yearly round of shots so they got that done in no time. The vet didn't seem very engaging unless I asked a question. When we were done, she gave me advice as to how I should further improve my pup's health, and she disappeared after answering those questions. This is a great clinic for affordable pet checkups and shots, so you can't beat that. As for customer service, it was mediocre at best. I wish it was more on a personal level and gave more of an insight as to what exactly they are performing on your pet. read more

I've brought my mini dachshund for her puppy shots and her yearly rabies shots. Every time we walk in the receptionist always recognizes us and makes us feel right at home. I love this clinic! You have to wait in line to see the vet, they don't schedule appointment but you can call in and check to see how busy they are. I've never waited longer than 10 minutes during the week. I absolutely love Dr. Granson, they switch vets around during the week but you can call to check when she is going to be available. She answered all my questions and was wonderful with my puppy baby Lacey. The prices are reasonable and the hours are good. read more

I have been using Petworks Express for about 3 1/2 years for my two corgis, Cody and LuLu. I started using them as a more economical alternative to the traditional veterinarian's office for yearly vaccinations but I quickly became a loyal user for other, minor, veterinary issues. The "traditional" vet's office we used to go to had nowhere near the level of customer service that Petworks Express offers and I no longer use them. They were also ridiculously expensive for the same exact services you can get at Petworks Express for a fraction of the cost. Petworks Express' staff is always helpful and willing to answer any questions or concerns and over time they have come to remember me and my two fur-babies. Dr. Pappan, the gentleman who owns this clinic, is an Orthopedic Surgeon by training and does his great work on Thursdays, but for general visits, he seems to pick qualified and courteous vets to perform vaccinations and other first aid type exams. I have used Petworks Express for all of the above: vaccinations, first aid to treat bite wounds when my two have gotten into scuffles and one orthopedic surgery performed by Dr. Pappan. I could not be happier with him and his staff's attention to detail and constant good customer care. Betty, the young lady who sits in the reception area checking in the patients, has always been accessible as a liaison for the medically trained staff and is always polite and responsive. I give them a four paws up endorsement and would take my babies there for anything they will treat. read more

I would NOT recommend this vet to anyone. It was recommended to me because I have a stray that I was trying to do the right thing and take care of. He needed to be neutered and his teeth cleaned. This is a "low cost" vet. We showed up to the consultation which was more than I cared to pay. But happily scheduled the appointment for his surgery. A month later I drop the dog off at 9:00 as instructed only to be called around 1 to be informed that my dog had diarrhea and they needed to give him an IV drop, test him for parasites and put him on strong medications. They refused to do the surgery. Odd because the dog didn't have diarrhea that morning on his walk nor did he have diarrhea that night after his stay at the vet. The next day however the poor dog was covered with fleas! The vet clearly uses bait and switch techniques to make money and their facilities are dirty and flea ridden. I tried to work this out with the owner but am clearly being ignored. read more

I've never experienced a more unprofessional clinic in my life. The staff and Dr. Pappan were incredibly rude and have no regard for their patients. The clinic opens at 9am and he casually strolled in at 9:45am with a completely full waiting room and no regard for anyone and their pets anxiously waiting. He then proceeded to tell us he couldn't even get our dog, with a double ACL tear and barely able to stand or walk, in for 3 weeks for surgery because he was so far booked out which is not at all what his staff communicated when we booked the consult. It was a complete waste of time but it was a blessing in disguise because we ended up finding a wonderful, friendly, affordable clinic, with a Dr who genuinely cares about his patients and specializes in TPLO surgery and my dog is healing wonderfully. Please do yourself and your pets a favor and go somewhere else, there are plenty of other great clinics and Drs in Houston and surrounding areas. read more

I needed to locate a vet near me as we moved and did not have a good experience with Lakeside near by $$$$. I found Pet works Express and I called ahead to check cost of consultation and only $30(reasonable) Dr. Jonathan and his staff were great and very polite to me and my doggie. I did not have an appointment, however called ahead to see how long of a wait if I came now? The nurse said come on right now we are not busy. I quickly took Maxx my white miniature slightly overweight schnauzer, due to he has been chewing one of his back paws and leg and the turned the area of his coat red, and looked odd. I googled what it could be and read up that dogs chew out of boredom or allergies. Dr. Jonathan advised too that the saliva of a white dog once dries turns it red. He did a full physical and the nurse took his temperature all normal. He suggested to do a skin test ($26) he found some yeast present and there was a little. He said antibacterial lotion for the itching, I asked can I buy a cone ($17)so he won't lick it off, he said yes. I am also to give him Benadryl tablets and come back in 3-4 weeks if it persists. I walked out there with only a $77 tab and feel so happy to have found a clean, safe, and perfect located vet for our little boy from now on. They have a new client and Maxx and us are thrilled! Betty (receptionist) is efficient and friendly, Anthony (Vet Tech) is professional and helpful as are the other Vet Techs, and the Veterinarians who rotate through the office range from good to excellent. The prices are amazing, and I usually wait less time there than I would at a regular veterinary office -- with an appointment. Everyone there loves animals; it's a great place to go for maintenance vaccination visits as well as pet injuries and illnesses. read more

Never take a sick pet here!! I have been feeding a stray cat for a few weeks and on april 8th she gave birth to 5 kittens.I made a warm spot for her and her kittens in my laundry room.Around April 20th I noticed the kittens were all congested and their eyes were getting filled with puss.I tried the warm compresses and vetrycin eye wash.By april 24th one of the kittens eyes were so irritated that puss literally squirted out of them and the eyeball couldnt even be seen.I took this kitten to petworks express on April 25th.The vet, Stephen Pappan, wouldnt even pick up the kitten.He just kept saying that its normal and kittens open their eyes at different times.This was not an issue of when the kitten would open its eyes! It was an issue of the raging infection the kitten had and the congestion. Stephan Pappan then said its normal and its just a cold and it just has to run its course.I left feeling somewhat satisfied that it was just a cold and time would heal it up. Well,4 days after being seen by stephen pappan, one kitten is dead and the other 4 all have their eyes swollen shut and are oozing puss.DO NOT EVER TAKE A SICK ANIMAL TO THIS INCOMPETENT VET!!! Had he just taken even 2 seconds to pick up the kitten and examine its eyes or listen to its lungs or just do his job in general, the kitten I buried this morning might have survived. read more

I used to really like this place, but it has definitely gone downhill. I'll start with the office manager, Betty, since she's usually the first point of contact. How someone can be as dumb as a rock, incompetent, and rude yet office manager blows my mind. I went in for my appointment for Nito's (my Shih Tzu) teeth cleaning and they were additionally ready to administer the Bordetella vaccine and do a heartworm test. I had clearly stated that I was declining the Bordetella vaccine and that I would bring in proof of his up to date (negative) heartwork test when setting up this appointment. It wasn't even the fact that this mistake happened as much as Betty's tactless attitude that I was at fault. Completely unnecessary. Moving on, Nito was then taken to the back for his vet exam prior to teeth cleaning. The veterinarian on duty this day was Sylvia Borland, DVM. Right off the bat, she informs me that Nito has moderate cataracts and a significant heart murmur and advises not to do the teeth cleaning and merely recommends seeing both, a cardiologist as well as an ophthalmologist for Nito. At no point did she use an opthalmoscope to even adequately look into his eyes. Can a human be diagnosed with having and/or had a heart attack without proper blood work and/or an EKG? Heavens no. So, why jump to the conclusion of moderate cataracts without as much as a decent exam? At this time, I requested having blood work as well as a urine sample obtained, and one would've thought I was expecting this to be done free of charge. Ridiculous. Obtaining the lab work results was no easy feast either. Ball slipped on their end, l almost feel like I should've expected it at this point. Needless to say, I took Nito to a different veterinarian (Katy Pet Wellness) to conduct a wellness/comprehensive/physical (insert whatever you'd like to call it) exam, and this veterinarian, after a thorough examination (might I add) came to the conclusion that Nito only had nuclear sclerosis and a slight heart murmur. She soundly ruled out any cataracts, and this was done by utilizing an opthalmoscope. World of a difference experience going with the second veterinarian. She thoroughly explained that nuclear sclerosis is a age related change and answered all my questions. This veterinarian even made holistic recommendations of certain vitamins that could digress vision changes. As for the slight heart murmur she heard, she did offer more cost friendly referrals for specialists, but also informed me that going to a specialist may be an overkill. She suggested changing his diet to a cardiac diet. I walked out of this second place breathing a sigh of relief that I trusted my gut enough to get a 2nd opinion. The necessary time was allotted for Nito and me, things were amply relayed, and I left with piece of mind as well as an action plan. I would highly, highly, highly NOT recommend this place (Pet Works Express) to anyone. I suggest certain individuals at Pet Works Express to get your shit together. Signing off. read more
