In 2019 my power was out for 5 days! I never got any reimbursement either because it was due to a "wind event" Listen, the wind isn't my fault! You can pay for my lost groceries! Currently my power has been out for 7 hours and is not expected to come on for another 2 hours!!! On the website to get any payment or credit your power has to be off for 24 hours. This is ridiculous!! My power will be out for a total of 9 hours and I'm sure I've lost everything in my fridge and freezer. PG&E doesn't care about the consumer just their bottom line! Should not even be allowed to operate with the damages they've caused in CA. Even insurance companies are pulling out of CA due to fires... PG&E caused. I'm tired of paying for PG&E's mistakes! I live in a one bedroom condo and my bill is estimated to be over $300 this month for just me. I've not even used my heater! I'd rather freeze than spend over $300 for my gas and electric. My bill used to be $150 in the winter months (using heater). Now no matter what it's always over $200. There needs to be a cap on public utilities. They raise rates worse than the feds! I have lived all over the world and in many places in the US. PG&E somehow gets away with charging 2 to 5 times more than any other utility in the US for electricity and provides the worst service by far. I lost power in places with ice storms, tornados and fires much less frequently (maybe once every couple of years) than losing power here in Walnut Creek, CA with very little extreme weather. For the past 5-6 years, I've lost power here 6 to 12 times per year. Most are unplanned and unannounced and last for 3 to 5 hours. I can't run my home business when this happens and need to keep the fridge shut. I have lost food with these outages and PG&E won't pay for anything less than 24 hours! How can the utility with so much access to cheap renewable power charge more than any other utility in the country? The most expensive average national utility prices in the world are in the EU, ranging from 24 to 47 cents per kWh. The avg price in the US is about 16 cents per kWh (and more like 12 cents in TX and WA). Why do I pay 52 cents (lowest) to 62 cents (peak)? I can't say I would have ever thought I would write a review on yelp about my power company and much less so that it would be positive, but PG&E deserves it. I filed a couple applications online for 1. solar net metering and 2. moving/upgrading my electrical service panel. PG&E, and specifically Kotine Nguyen, got back to be super quickly and was very helpful. She came out and took a look, offered some good advice, problems solved with me to figure out the solution and then after the visit helped me get everything set up for the work to be done. And, while we were upgrading our service panel, Kotine said PG&E would use the opportunity to upgrade our electric service line. In addition to her help, what was amazing is that whenever I left a message or emailed, she got back to me so quickly, always within an hour or less. Along the way I had to reschedule due to predicted lightening on our scheduled day. Kotine was out of the office according to her automatic email reply but there was someone else to contact in her email. After getting such great help from Kotine, I was reluctant to work with anyone else, but I called the person, Brenna Donnellan, and she returned my message within 10 minutes, helped me reschedule and was just as nice and professional as Kotine. The guys who came and did the work were quick and good. Overall my experience getting PG&E to disconnect and reconnect our electric line for the work we did was far far better than I expected and I want to thank PG&E for providing the best customer service I have received from any big company in a long time. PGE has a tuff business to run, in a drought and with the CA, state legislature with both of their hands deep in PGE's pocket, always squeezing wanting more, more ,more..........and they do a pretty good job despite all the anchors and silly government programs they have to donate money too.....you and I pay for all those programs thru high gas and electric bills and when I have a power problem they come out quickly and make repairs,,,,,,I'm glad they ciut off the power when the wind blows, it should really help reduce the fires....but then we still have the crazies that are out there starting these fires on purpose.......they could be responsible for many that others are blamed for. read more

A tree branch broke and fell on a power line at my house on a Tuesday. It wasn't broken (the power line I mean) just as my husband said it was "compromised". Basically u could see wire. I called Pge and they were here just 2 hours later (it wasn't an emergency). My husband cut the branch away ( carefully ) and the nice gentlemen, Rich, climbed on it and fixed it. One of your customer reps (Diane) needs to be gone stat, or else your company will lose all your millennial customers who appreciate respect and service. We'll all run to Alameda where power isn't run by PG&E (why aren't there more cities like that?!), or hook up all our homes with solar panels and back-up generators. Frankly, we are completely disappointed with PG&E for so many reasons, specifically three reasons: 1). We called to state a huge pine tree lying on the power lines next to our home. PG&E said they'll come out to check it out. No one did. It's been a year, and the branch cut into the wires; thank god a fire didn't break out and our landscaper cut one of the branches down, but what about the four other branches lying on your power lines? Should we call your 24 hour customer service phone number when there's a fire at our neighborhood? 2). Called tonight and spoke to a rep named Diane who disrespected immigrant parents, responded rudely to my husband and I, and never apologized once. After an hour of her consistent lies, she finally got our power turned back on. However, she never answered our questions clearly, and her responses were always, "I can only speak to the account holder." She literally said that about 20 times each time I spoke to translate for my father who was on the speaker phone, btw. Um, I honestly wanted to respond to Diane with delayed gaps, "I... am ... not ... a ... robot... We... are ... people." Wow, the entire family (immigrants, law enforcement, military - yes, we always help each other out like families should #obvi) was on the speaker phone and we all looked at each other like, "wtf is wrong with this lady? Is she crazy?!" What a capital B - why did she have to be such a jerk during a stressful time for our family? This is the worst customer service we've all experienced ever! PG&E is a total #TurnOff - yes, indeed pun intended. 3). There is never any customer service when we call your 24 hour PG&E line. Please train your customer service reps emotional intelligence and leadership because it seems that every single rep we speak to doesn't know what service is. What is going on over there in your corporate world - is anyone actually working?! Big picture: power is back on for my parents, but gigantic pine tree still has three huge branches sleeping on PG&E lines for the last year. Still needs resolution: who cut off my parent's power and why so we can prevent this from happening in the future, and cut down the pine tree branches on your lines before a fire starts. We can't wait to move away to a city that doesn't rely on this electrical company, or buy our own solar panels and back-up generators - I'm sure we'll get a pretty good military discount. PG&E policy prohibit their service man to climb to any house attic, therefore be ready to climb your self and check your gas line connected to heater, this utility company will refuse to check gas line although PGE have complete monopoly and we pay our gas bill. On May 14th 2020, around 3:00pm,(Vehicle info, plate#: 45290P1, ID#: PC6263), PG&E employee, was driving on the wrong side of the road speeding, blocks my vehicle from moving, gets out as if to start a fist fight, and demands to know where our meters are. I explained they are on the side of each building. She demanded that I take her to them. I couldn't because I was working on an emergency, and told her there is nothing preventing her from seeing them. She then blackmailed me and said if I don't stop what I am doing, and walk her to them, that she will shut down service to the entire property. I left at that point. She then walked to the back of the building as my coworker told her the ground is not level. She then looks around, pretends to fall down, pats some dirt on herself, and then claims we should have warned her about the ground. She then pretends to limp back to her vehicle and another worker comes to replace her. I am pretty sure her intention is to fake an insurance or workmen's comp claim. I have never seen a worse behaved adult, and I don't know why PG&E allows their employees to act this way. And I will say "allows" because I called three different branches of PG&E, and everyone I spoke to was so dismissive and uncaring about the situation. read more

They charge us for what we use monthly and then they charge us an additional $600 at the end of the year. Plus they charge us $10/month in a "minimum delivery charge" Such BS. After months ignoring my claim I spoke w/Bruce Richardson who kept telling me I had t talk with PG&E's agent Wilson Construction. PG&E is arrogant and could care less about customer needs. I'm glad that Sonoma Clean Power has become the Sonoma County's dominant energy supplier. We smelled gas coming from our laundry room and to be safe called PG&E. The customer service answered immediately and after a series of questions and precautions to leave the premises a service man showed up within a half hour. He went through all areas where gas could be leaking from. It ends up that a valve needs to be replaced. THE WORST PERSON EVER JUST CAME FROM YOUR COMPANY TO MY HOME. If I could give you 0 stars I would. I never thought I'd write a review for a gas company but this was ridiculous. This man called me when he got to my apartment in North Beach & I asked him to hold on a second while i opened the gate where the box he needed was locate he told me "Im not going around the world for your electricity" then hung up the phone. I ran downstairs to meet him before he left because it is 9pm and we hadn't had electricity all day. He then proceeded to scream at me in the middle of the street in the rain & told me "I dont have time for this." I asked if he could wait 2 seconds for me to open the gate to where the box was & he said "Ive been waiting a minute & your wasting my time" as I went to unlock the gate with the breaker box he drove away. He made racist comments about the people in my building complaining about how "none of them speak english". AND it is now almost 10pm on a Wednesday and I STLL DONT HAVE POWER. Our lights were flickering on and off so we decided to call PG&E before calling an electrician. First, the lady on the telephone (I regret that I did not get her name) took my problem seriously and said that someone would come out after he/she finished his/her assigned jobs for the day. I was expecting to wait all day but a technician (?) came out in 45 minutes. Second, the technician (Jimmy) was very professional and knowledgable. He did a series of test from the outside and would not give up until he was satisfied that he had tried everything. The last thing he tried, stripping a wire and reconnecting it, worked. I really appreciate the fast response and the dedication of the PG&E employees to solve my problem. read more

This company has a huge "POLICY" issue. They close your account without even calling you to make sure that you gave consent to it. When I called them they explained that whenever and whoever calls to open an account for the address you reside they just close your account by default and give the service to someone else who claims this address. As a result, my electricity service was transferred to the company that charged me 3 times higher rates than PG&E. How could it possibly happen? They take all your private info when you initially open an account and then boom! - you are no longer a loyal customer... In my case someone just made a mistake in one number and it costed me $400 for two months. This is just wrong! This policy does'n work. There is no protection, no security....I was enrolled into CARE discounted program with PG&E. Some agent could at least make a call to make sure that I moved out from that address. They threatened to turn off our utilities and when we called in to get it cleared up (and point out AGAIN that they had taken money from our checking account and that they had in fact been paid), we were put on holds exceeding 40 mins to get to a live person. PG&E is a joke, we have been dealing with a representative from their Concord, CA office for over 7 months for an ongoing project out of Walnut Creek, CA. Going round in circles, no answers, no set dates, no estimated time of work to be conducted and no contract, until 2 weeks ago. Reason being on finally getting a contract drawn up is because of numerous phone calls being made to SF PG&E Office and many other people that represent this scandal of a company. ( Names I will not mention) I thought they where about the people. What people, the people that they have working for them, filling their pockets up with $$$$$. We are a fully occupied apartment home that is conducting renovations through out the whole property. These renovation will help with energy consumption and improvements to help our residents with a higher quality of life. I have never dealt with such an unprofessionalism personal and company. The company I work and represent would never do such to any person or company. You would think to treat others the way you would like to be treated. It may seem to be about money some say, well no! We have signed a contract and paid the fees in full early December 2015 to complete our multi million dollar project, which we are 80% done. Again, almost done with one pending section! The one section is held up by PG&E!!! HELP!! Where do I turn to get this job done? So these brainiacs sent a letter to our neighbor hood about needing to perform two power outages in one day, why because two is better than one, and stated the outages would occur from 8AM-9AM and from 5PM-6PM on October 28. I adjust my day accordingly as I work from home and plan around these interruptions. 8AM arrives, and power goes out as planned. In the afternoon, 4 o'clock rolls around and BAM, black out. WFT it's only 4PM!? I've got several client projects underway via computer and am on the phone with a customer and everything goes dark. Needless to say my customers are wondering what the hell is going on and I'm sitting in the dark. Just brilliant, they can't even honor their own schedule! What a bunch of incompetents.
