played "Stadium" course this past weekend, condition was awesome. toughest golf course ever played but played not too bad. saw Marshall at least once every 2 holes to keep pace of play. completed the round in 4 hours and 15 minutes. dude in pro shop was very friendly. unlimited range balls. weather was in mid 100s but due to the smoke from El Dorado & Bobcat Fire, it felt like mid 90s. smoke was high up so there was no smell. would definitely come back. read more

5 stars, two thumbs up!!! PGA West is an amazing facility with nothing but the finest employees and amenities around. Each time we come, the starter makes sure to let us know where the water stations and bathrooms are located, depending upon which course we are playing. All carts are equipped with GPS & have extra room for additional items besides drinks. The range is fantastic, extremely large equipped with areas to work on all aspects of the game. The pro shop is always stocked with the newest and trendiest apparel, in case you forget to bring something. I would recommend coming and playing all three public courses if you have the opportunity, you will NOT be disappointed. See photos attached (from late December). read more

Very high priced considering the condition of the course ($329). Greens were in poor condition, slow, and bumpy. One hole basically shut down and using a temporary green. Tee to green an interesting layout but hard to justify that price with greens that would be considered terrible at a municipal course. Nice scenery. read more

Been here a few times before but I was not on YELP at the time. In the past I have played the Palmer, Stadium, and Mountain courses. All were fantastic plays and in excellent condition. Not so for the Nicolaus course. Played here in a tournament last Saturday. They are doing lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots of work on the course. There was an entire section around one of the greens that was all ground under repair. I am not a homeowner on PGA West, nor a resident n La Quinta, but one of the guys we played with was a local. He literally left after 9 holes. The tee boxes were over grown and in poor shape. There were also spots in the fairway that were marked as ground under repair. It was a real shame for such a prestigious area, known for their golf courses, that the conditions were so bad. I hope to get another shot at the course soon. And I hope it is in great condition when I get to play it. read more

Played the Stadium Course and what a pristine and majestic course. Pretended to walk the same steps as all the previous legends but any dreams of replicating their rounds were ruined by my actual scores. Nevertheless, the Round and 19th hole were all part of a phenomenal and memorable day. Great place to hangout after and reminisce the round with great cocktails and delicious food. read more

Not a good experience at all. I was so excited to play this place but it was a let down. We played the Stadium Course. After the fifth or six hole and hitting approach shots that were short on a few holes we decided to scope the pins. The GPS was off by 9 yards. WTF. The pin was in the location it said it was in. So on the next hole we use the range finder again. This time GPS was off by 13 yards. Not good at all. I expect accuracy especially from such an esteemed golf course. A few holes later the employee that was refilling the water containers talked to us. We explained how frustrating that the GPS was off. He said he was aware of the issue and some are off by as much as 15 yards. WTF. Why wouldn't you tell people this ahead of time? If this is a know issue why not fix it? The next issue is when we finished our round the clubhouse restaurant was closed. They said they had a problem with the AC. IDK if that's the real story but the clubhouse is huge. I'm sure they must have several AC units. How could they all go out at once? The course was not in good condition either. Some fairways had dirt patches and the greens were still trying to recover from being punched. Disappointed. read more

This is an excerpt from my personal Food & Travel blog: (excuse the absence of the photos attached to the blog) PGA WEST STADIUM COURSE The course features typical Pete Dye designed undulations seriously limiting your odds of having an even lie. A par 3 hole surrounded by a sand pond and grassy mounds. Except to see water holes, more water holes...and even more water holes. They have excellent GPS systems on GOLF CARTS. There are splendid views on this course. The course FAIRWAYS are fairly green with the ROUGHS being more yellow-green. Courses in the Palm Springs area had stunningly well kept and very green fairways about 3-4 years ago or more but we've seen that to be much less common over the past few years. The GREENS are very small. Good luck with that on a course this difficult. :( This course reminds me somewhat of Pete Dye's course at the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa. It is a similar style course but with many more water holes and with more land. This hole in particular provided a stunning visual. Expect to see lots of SAND and GRASS BUNKERS typical of Pete Dye designed courses. Fortunately any grass bunkers are as deep and as steep as at the Westin Mission Hills course. An island green par 3 hole called "ALCATRAZ" that I was looking forward to. This is their signature hole. "Whole lot of water goin' on"... In typical SoCal fashion you can expect FAST GREENS. read more

PGA West was so incredible to me and my girls friends. The staff was so friendly and gave us a tour of the new area where we had an amazing lunch. The food and drinks were delicious. The weather was perfect and I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area!!! read more

This is an absolutely beautiful course! We were here about a month before the CareerBuilder Challenge Golf Tournament, so it was cool to see all the panels, perfect greens, and grandstands (though empty). There are 4 courses, and all are very well kept. As an example, they had a 1+ hour frost delay to ensure that the course wouldn't get destroyed even the slightest bit. The practice range is great and has lots of room for everyone to practice putting, chipping, bunker shots, and full shots. We played the Nicklaus and Stadium courses. The rough of both is not too thick, but I'm sure they'll let it grow when the PGA players come by. The designers also seem to be very fond of island par-3 greens -- quite the exciting challenge! As you can imagine, pretty much every shot is equally challenging -- any little error and you're either in a bunker or in the water. The only problem -- many have touched on it -- is the pace of play. It's clearly an exciting opportunity to play a PGA course, but too many people who can't keep up the pace are playing this course just for the experience. This slows down the pace a lot, and takes away from the experience. Other than that, the whole facility is very well run. There are tons of courses in the Palm Springs area, but definitely try to make it out to PGA West! read more

The worst night ever. AC not working. Sat for over an hour waiting for food and still nothing. Although I am not a member , but only invited by friends , I can't believe any member would put up with this nonsense. Now I know why I would never become a member of PGA West. IHOP would have been a much better choice. read more

Played the Stadium Course and Nicklaus Championship course and preferred the latter more. Not sure if it was cart path only on the stadium, but I was not "wowed" by the Pete Dye design. Both courses were in excellent shape and I had a good time. The pace of play on the stadium was laborious and seemed to take a long time. The group ahead of us was the problem and the ranger warned them several times to speed it up. After about the 12th hole, they disappeared and we finished the round in 4:05. Not sure if they requested the group to pick it up and leave, but I applaud the course for not tolerating extremely slow play. This was a check off on the bucket list and I'm glad I played it. Would I return, probably. Paid $109 which seemed reasonable for a course with the notoriety. The greens on the Nicklaus course break towards Indio and be sure to check the direction of the grain which had a huge effect on the break and speed especially on uphill putts. Taking pictures on the iPhone doesn't do the scenery justice. The views are spectacular. read more

We have come here for years-however Robert in the pro shop was absolutely amazing. He remembered my sons name and the bag he wanted. We came back after buying a different one somewhere else-to compare. Robert was so excited to have a young boy excited and getting good at the sport. Can't wait until next year. read more

I love this championship layout. This course makes you think and be precise with your tee shots. Hazard is usual on one side of the fairway making it difficult to hit the fairway. Rough wasn't penalizing when I played but I could see how the PGA can make this course as difficult as it could be. Greens were alittle patchy but aeration was scheduled the next day I played. Water coolers are located throughout the golf course and cart girl comes around often. Would love to comeback read more

Absolutely breath-taking golf here at PGA West. I'm here for the National Championship for Golf Channel and the course couldn't be in any better shape. The greens are rolling true as ever, and the grass is cut extraordinarily well. I would recommend this course to any and everyone. Fantastic job, I'll be back!!!! read more

The course was awesome. The Stadium course is a fun course to play. On the other hand, the service was pathetic. It was 104 degrees(not their fault), but the halfway house was closed and we didn't the cart until the 13th hole and they sped off without asking if I wanted anything. There was nothing but water along the course. Truly pathetic for such a world class facility. read more

Played both the Stadium and the Nicklaus today. Stadium is more a shot makers course, Nicklaus is so much more open. Enjoyed both and appreciate courses giving deals even though I work in the industry. Only problem is "golfers with complete lack of etiquette" and booze on a holiday weekend. We were hit into and verbally accosted by some idiot who didn't belong on ANY golf course. Again no fault of course cuz once I pointed out the problem...the course removed them from playing. The gentleman's (and ladies) game may continue. Both definitely worth playing. read more

Played 18 holes on a Monday in 105 degree weather! Although it was hot I had a great time. The course was very technical but the greens and fairways were excellent. The employees were very helpful with happy attitudes. We stopped at the restaurant after the round and everyone enjoyed the food. Overall I'll definitely come back but in cooler weather! read more

I wanted to book a tee time at the Nicklaus Tournament course so I called the pro shop. The guy I spoke to couldn't be more rude. I asked a few questions about rates and any discounts for a junior golfer. At the end of the conversation, the guy in the pro shop didn't even say "goodbye" he just hung up. In the desert there are A LOT of courses to choose from so there is NO WAY the PGA Nicklaus course is getting my money. read more
