I am upgrading my review from 3 to 5 stars because Tom proved himself over and over with his integrity and reliability before I would increase my rating. A few months ago, he came to fix a leaky connection and did not charge me extra as he said it was their responsibility. The nice thing is that he didn't do a quick patch fix, but rather replaced the whole section and even painted to black to match the rest of the pipes. Then, I my favorite regular pool service guy sold his business to another person that wasn't nearly as competent. I reached out to Tom and he immediately established an account for us that fits our schedule, and his teammate Bobby has been doing a very good job since then. Finally, I just had an issue with our heater (although it is a brand new heater, it gave an error and stoped warming up the spa), and Tom showed up despite not feeling so well and took care of the issue in an incredibly fast and affordable way. In sum, I originally had given him 5 stars and lowered it to 3 as he was too busy to take care of things for us last year. I am confidently rating him back at 5 star because over the year (despite my lowered rating), he has been super responsive, acted with highest integrity, and resolved all our issues whether caused by them or somebody or something else (like spiders in burners :) I highly recommend Tom and his team. read more

I wanted to install a new variable speed pump to decrease my energy bills. I called around to several different companies in the area. Tom responded quickly, answered all the questions I had, and even walked me through various options. We set up a date/time and he showed up promptly. He took the time to walk me through the process, and even showed me some features in my system that I did not know had existed previously. He installed the pump quickly while remaining professional with a very positive attitude. He took the time to show me how to operate the pump and gave me further information on how I can maintain my pool. Overall, very positive experience with PH Pool & Spa. Interviewed multiple people to service our pool having found many on both Yelp and Craigslist. Some don't respond quickly, and while others respond and are interested in the work the results or working relationship is not what I desired. In one case a person from craigslist offered 2 weeks of service free - it did not work out. PH Pool is 'perfect'. Not only did they respond quickly, but they offered to take ownership of the pool and did not mind that it was not in a perfect state of health. They in fact offered to start immediately in order to bring the pool up to the standard everyone wants their pool to be. I spoke to and met Tom and he was knowledgeable and his prices are reasonable. Very quickly he corrected the chemical balances in my pool and it has not looked better. We now use him for monthly maintenance and he sends his invoice via email, which is VERY convenient for us. Highly recommended, and I don't do that lightly. read more

We chose Tom from PH Pool and Spa to install a new Saline System in our pool because of his knowledge and experience, and we were very happy with the outcome. After the work was completed he went over the entire system with us and showed us how to operate and program the system. There was a time when we did not know someone had changed the settings on our controller and we couldn't figure out what was wrong. We called Tom and he walked us through step by step how to get our settings back. I really appreciate that we weren't just left on our own to figure it out, but he was willing to take the time to help us. We ended up selling our home and the pool inspector wanted to know who did the installation on our saline system because it was the best installation he'd ever seen. He even wanted Tom's contact information so he could refer people to him. We highly recommend Tom and will definitely call PH Pool and Spa for our future needs. read more

I've been a new customer for Tom of PH Pool since April. I am truly impressed. For over 20 years, my wife and I always maintained our own pools. But due to ever frequent international travel, it has become harder for us to keep our pool clean. In April, our pool had a breakout and all hell broke loose. The water went green, all of the rock and stone surface went red. It didn't matter how much chemicals we put in. We couldn't get the pool back to balance. I called a few places to get a professional help. Tom's offer was almost too good to be true (he offered to clean up the pool with a simple monthly service without additional labor cost). Tom turns out to be more than what I was hoping for: - His crew cleaned up everything in a few days, vacuumed the whole pool, and acid washed the surfaces... - Then they discovered the real cause of the mess - a broken/leaking pipe inside of my filter. It was an impressive detective work. - Tom also suggested to switch to a variable pump which burns 1/8 of the power. A different technician came this time, also did a very professional and efficient job. I have to say that it is rare to see this level of services and quality in the pool business at a reasonable price. Now I have a clean pool, burning $100 less electricity a month, and free of care from me or my wife ever again. read more

Spent 10min on the phone with Tom after reading reviews. Thought I had a problem with the pool pump due to the algae build up. Expected he'd want to come in and charge me for a bunch of work. Instead he understood everything I was doing and recommended a couple of routes that he felt would help solve my problem. This made him no money - which is generally stunning behavior for most Service Providers these days. We love Tom's personalized approach to customer service. He looks out for our pocket book more than once since we hired him. We had a problem with keeping our pool clean. We asked him to replace the filter system and motor. He suggested that we try replacing the filter system first then evaluate the motor to keep cost down. Finding a reliable and trustworthy contractor has always been difficult. After reading positive Yelp reviews, I contacted PH & Pool Spa about replacing the aging pump to a variable speed model. On the appointment date, Tom arrived right on time. To me, that is a sign of someone serious about the business and taking care of the clients. We selected his service and could not be any happier. He examined the entire pump/equipment area, provided suggestions and guidance as to how to get it up and running.
