We have an amazing training center right here in Killeen. Project Scuba teaches all ages (must be…read more10) for scuba. I am 72 years young and am a Certified Open Water Scuba Diver. Scuba lessons are very affordable and my sage advice from trying to learn on split fins that were too flimsy, a leaking mask that didn't fit my pointed little head, and a leaking snorkel that tried to drown me. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE that is trying to help you save money. I immediately ordered my own fins, mask, and snorkel as soon as I knew what I needed. Please consult Amy...the best! Can't help but love her. Chris is awesome too. You will be taught individually (scuba), and they teach swimming for any age both individually or in small groups, all in a beautiful enclosed heated pool! And local! I was so thrilled and thankful to find them when I chose to pick up Scuba diving. If you like flying under water, following correct procedures for your own safety, willing to learn a new exciting sport working with amazing dive masters, somewhat physically able, can float easily and swim, love the water, able to pursue your new expensive habit, will always have a dive buddy, then this is the place to start and finish your Scuba Open Water Certification(s). They also have additional instructors (see website). I met three of them who certified me for both Dive 3 and 4...only 4 open water dives required, performing different skills proficiently each dive. If you are not able to perform all of them correctly, practice, get good at it, and retake the Dive you needed help with on another day. I was not charged extra for a retake). Go live, enjoy, scuba with new friends, travel when you can, laugh much, and have a blast experiencing your new sport! And learn from a professional school teacher as well as a Professional Dive Master that will help you along the way learning the skills you will need. Amy rocks as well as Chris.

I was here for the famed (infamous?) Texas Eclipse Festival with 30,000-40,000 others. While the…read morefestival itself had some problems with organization that were completely unrelated to the ranch itself, I enjoyed my experience here quite a lot. There are some beautiful overlooks, a nice quarry lake for cooling off (although who knows how clean the water is, if livestock use it), and an overall great away-from-it-all vibe. I read that they use this ranch for mountain biking and I believe it. The hills are nothing to mess around with. Hiking will require quite a bit of up and down. Also, the dust was baaaaaaad. Come prepared with a mask or bandana if you are at all sensitive to dust. Other than that, it seems like a beautiful spot for recreating in the TX Hill Country.

I have been coming here for a few years for a camping and mountain bike getaway. The landscape is…read morerugged and beautiful and typical of ranches in this area. The staff are nice when you can find them and their facilities are decent considering the rustic, primitive facade it's boasting. A five star rating would require that the 10pm quiet hours were upheld by staff and patrons were held accountable for things such as trash and site cleanup. Both nights spent so was up late listening to awful awful language from campers across the lake till 3am. Loud obnoxious music from all angles and to top it off -- generators. 3am is not a dramatization either. There was a one-wheel festival taking place and it brought along some unsavory and rude mannered patrons. The site I chose was across the lake near the tower in order to avoid the crowds and not hit any "floaters" while biking. My site was littered with garbage and food scraps from whoever was there before I arrived. Otherwise. I had a great time.

I took the Open Water diving course in June and had an amazing time. I was terrified to do the…read moreclass at the beginning, but Jez did an amazing job of making me feel comfortable diving. All of the skills build on each other, so you don't jump right into it and you get comfortable as you go along and learn more skills. Jez was encouraging and went the extra mile to help those of us who felt nervous about doing certain skills. He is also really funny, which helps time go by really fast! I am considering signing up for an Advanced class with Jez, since I liked the Open Water course so much. I highly recommend Scubaland as well. They are really helpful and the course itself teaches you skills ranging from how to put your gear together to learning about what to do if your air runs out underwater.

I was not contacted beforehand to approve a $400 charge or given the opportunity to decline the additional cost. They "Fixed" things like a battery change that didn't even need to be changed out or replaced. No communication at all about anything. If I Would have known I would have never went here. The worst part is I've been a repeat customer who even got a certification here. Owners should be ashamed.
