They are not big on Doctors, but will come when forced. Have have an ER, urgent care, and clinic. They also have an Long term care skilled rehab center on site as well an professional building that house many specialists. I spent the night here once when I was five years old or so. I swallowed a penny (I was very orally fixated) and it got stuck in my throat. I had to have surgery and then I pooped it out about 2 weeks later. Nice!

My brother John H , age 74, has been at the Laconia Facility for over 2 years he has diabetes and…read morehas received very good care. I live 800 miles away in the Alexandria Va area and stay in close contact with both John and the Laconia personnel that manage the facility and nurses that attend to John's direct medical care. I was concerned during the COVID period with some of the stories we heard about nursing homes ; but , Laconia did a great job of keeping people safe (both residents and staff). Laconia had good procedures in place and required that everyone follow them. John had some medical problems that he needed treatment for and the nurses would call me and let me know when things changed. On occasions when Laconia staff felt John should be seen at a hospital they would call me , and have him transported to the hospital. Laconia management would let the hospital know that I, as a family member, would likely be calling to check on John. I would call the hospital and with Laconia help ,developed a working relationship with the hospital staff and treating doctors. With regard to care I was very satisfied with the care John got , the Laconia nurses would follow closely what the hospital doctor would put in place. The Laconia procedures allowed for good discussions between myself, John, the Laconia nurses, and staff. Laconia also initiated Zoom calls which I was ask to participate in and did , so I could see the care givers , my brother and his progress. My impression of staff is very favorable. However; all large health care organizations need a mix of experienced people and young entry level people often ask to do menial tasks. Some of this group have not yet developed favorable communication skills. My brother had a problem with one entry level person , we discussed it with the Laconia management and it was immediately corrected. Many staff members have been there a long time and are both knowledgeable and dedicated and very easy to work with. William H

The clients are expected to clean the facility but they can't use proper cleaning products to actually desensitize things!? No hired cleaning team comes in EVER. The kitchen & sponges/rags used to clean dishes are repulsive. The building is so old it messes with your lungs & eyes I wouldn't be surprised if there's asbestos. Second, this "rehab" is not interested in doing any real rehabilitation! The clients are bored & lacking mental/physical activity & stimulation. Third, lack of care & compassion from employees was unbearable. There are probably 2 or 3 solid employees who actually care & want the best for these sick & helpless people. I overheard a counselor say the director told her to write a recommendation letter and send a client to further care even though he wasn't ready. She said "they're never ready & -- says to send them on their way anyways" They need employees who actually want to help, not just get a pay check & to Bill their insurances. I was one of those people & they lost a good member of their team & they hardly blinked an eye about it. Understaffing is a safety hazard. There is no security. Leaving an VERY uncertified employee to look after the entire facility on their third day should just show you how out of control this place really is. It needs to be shut down, if a rehab is not helping people then what's the point of staying open. This place does NOT support a healthy, happy & successful recovery in anyway shape or form.

They never know when im coming and every time ive gone they have been wonderful. She has one nurse Nathalie and she is the best nurse ive ever seen with people with alzheimers. She is so sweet and takes such good care of my mom. I dont k ow what wed do without her. Everybody in administrative roles have worked with me to get her ins straightened out. I was on my motorcycle following my husband on his motorcycle to the beach, like we've done a million times, then all of a sudden I see the sidewalk and the next thing I know I'm coming too (in and out) in the back of an ambulance. I don't have any real recollection of the accident and very little of the days following! I don't know how many IVs one person should have but seems like there was one in every vein!!!! I Suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and have been in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks! Being a safe rider, I was geared up; with the most important piece of equipment being my helmet! If I wasn't wearing my helmet I would not be here to tell the story! At least the pieces of it I can remember! Ended up at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital in Manchester in the Elliot! I have been working really hard with the medical staff and especially with therapy - making progress every day! The cohesiveness of this team has been so amazing! Dr Tower, the Elliot Hospitalists, the nurses, LNA's and therapy staff have been phenomenal!! The level of compassion, respect, care, dedication and kindness everyone has shown me has been outstanding!!!! Nothing like I've ever personally experienced in a hospital setting!! They have got my headaches dizziness and balance at a level where I am Hoping to continue on an upward trajectory and blow this pop-stand so I can go home soon! It will take some time to be back to my normal level of function but with the healing Northeast Rehabilitation and the love support and encouragement of my family and friends (asking for help and knowing I can't, aren't and don't have to do this alone) I am confident I will make a full recovery!! I called their HOME HEALTH 24-7 number, 603-681-3500, at 7:45 am and got a recording the call was being transferred. then, i listened to music for the next 5 minutes. no one answers the phone! i tried a 2nd time and again NO ONE ANSWERS! i called the main number, 603-893-2900, several times and no one could help me. i asked for the RN on duty and she transferred to yet another voicemail in orthotics! the poor receptionist (who was very nice BTW) tried connecting me to Emily, director of HOME HEALTH and I got voice mail. i called back again and was finally connected me to the secretary of the CEO, Stephanie, who tried to patch me through to the director of the HOME HEALTH CARE DEPT. Weeelllll...... it took the CEO's secretary almost 15 minutes to find the head of HOME HEALTH CARE so we could do a 3 way conversation. i'm writing as this is happening. what a circus! I finally spoke to Emily, director of HOME HEALTH CARE, who FINALLY connected me to Mary, manager of HOME HEALTH, who said she wasn't the RN on duty but could fill in for her. who knows where's the on-duty RN?? the whole rigmarole took 45 minutes. unacceptable! i asked Emily why all this happened because she ought to know i was going to say bad things about her company unless they can explain this meltdown. she said she'd follow up with me after she investigates and i'll post an update if she actually does. this company might be ok for hospital rehab services, but from my experience, they do NOT provide 24-7 HOME HEALTH CARE support. have a back up plan if you use them for home rehab... UPDATE #1: i've not heard from the director yet (Emily) but here's what happened: Mary, the manager of HOME HEALTH asked me a lot of questions and said she'd call my doctor, then call my visiting nurse and then call me back. exactly one hour later, she called back and started asking a lot of the same questions. i asked her exactly what i was waiting on and she said "nothing"!? i reminded her that she said she'd call my nurse and doctor. she said she called both but the nurse can't come unless she gets permission for her to come today, Wednesday, instead of their next appointment day, which is Thursday. I see all my docs on Friday and am aghast that it's such a big deal for the visiting nurse to come 24 hours early to see if my issue is really a major concern. as a side note, Mary was just going blah, blah, blah. so i hung up and called the doctor's office myself. if that's what has to be done, i wanted to make sure it got done. i asked the doctor's office if they would give permission for the visiting nurse to come a day early because the HOME HEALTH nurse had not done so!! this begs the question: what the heck did Mary talk about when she called my doctor? apparently she didn't ask for the OK to come today instead of tomorrow. i'm not dealing with "Mary" anymore. that's a dereliction of duty for her not to ask. my doctor's admin said, "oh, sorry, the doctor is in a meeting. she texted me and i'm waiting for her to get out of her meeting to ask that." that was almost an hour ago. so i called the department in Faulkner Hospital where the doctor practices and asked them if any of the doctor's peers could give the ok? Answer: "NO, only your doctor can do that." my response, "ok, well, if my doctor is too busy to send a text giving permission for the visiting nurse, then i'm FIRING MY DOCTOR." (that of course has nothing to do with HOME HEALTH CARE at NORTHEAST REHAB but i just threw it in anyway.) amazing: just to get the nurse here 24 hours early, i'm considering firing my doctor who seems to be ignoring my pleas for help because she's in a "meeting". my doc's office is 50 miles away (in Mass) and i'm not supposed to drive (doctor's orders). of course, they asked if i could drive down. the answer, "not today." UPDATE #2: the doc just called me and is sending the visiting nurse over today to check things out. it is pretty unbelievable that i had to go through 3.5 hours of bull sh*t just to get a visiting nurse to come over and look at my wound 24 hours earlier than planned... UPDATE #3: well, apparently the manager of HOME HEALTH, Mary, has decided that no one there feels "safe" to come over to see my wounds. No one would tell me what was happening until my doctor called to tell me. Wow, i'm 64 year old woman, living alone, who just had surgery and they don't feel "safe" coming to see me because i vocalized my unhappiness about spending HOURS trying to get ahold of them.

She's young but her body is a prison because of multiple sclerosis. Even with 40 hours of at-home nursing care a week, we couldn't do it anymore. She has no strength at all, and we had to do everything for her, everything. It was time. She was distressed, in grief, heartbroken. And it was hard. But the people here made her feel pretty good. She saw that it wasn't a prison. She had the freedom to go where she wanted in her electric wheelchair. She spent her first night in the family room watching her favorite Red Sox on a big screen! Everyone was so nice here. Just stellar. They understood. It will take some time, but I think she'll be happy. This really is a great place. It's clean and large and there is so much to do! It's like a mini resort. Thanks, Rockingham, for making Ma feel welcomed. It meant a lot to us.
