My son comes here to get his hair cut. He has had the same barber for a while now and would follow him wherever he went. The only person that cuts his hair the way he likes it and pretty consistently as well. There are a few different places in this location (with a fairly long hallway). Location in RB is nice too, there are places for me to wander while I wait (like Sprouts and Einstein Bros Bagels). Plenty of parking as well since in a little strip mall. This is such a different concept than what I'm used to in hair salons! When you walk inside, you come to a long hallway of doors, each leading to a private room for different hair dressers. The gal I went to told me she loves this concept as it gives her a chance to decorate however she wants and have privacy as she works on her clients' hair etc...Being with the stylist in her own little space felt almost like going to your friend's house and having her do your hair..except your friends would usually give you awful perms or hair colors, while these professionals actually know what they're doing. Speaking of which, I can't say enough good about my colorist, Brooke Blythe. She is fast and she is amazing. In seemingly no time at all she'd done a base color, plus highlights and lowlights for my hair. I can honestly say I've never had a nicer, more blended and natural color job done on my hair. I go to HairArtistry by Shannen at Phenix Salon Suites and Shannen is beyond fantastic! I have been going to her for many (MANY) years and am always happy when I leave. My mother used to drive down from Oceanside to see her and still goes to her when she's visiting from NJ. She has severe allergies and Shannen works with her to use products that don't bother her or set her off. A friend in OC drives down for Shannen to cut and color her hair. And we always bring my grandmother to Shannen when she visits from the east coast. It's all for one very simple reason. Shannen is amazing at what she does and she is such a pleasure to work with. I have to make a point that I have super fine hair. SUPER fine. It's a beast to style and nearly impossible to get anything to stay styled before it reverts back to stick straight. After years of going to Shannen, I knew she had to be the one to do my hair for my wedding. She did a wonderful job on both my hair and make up and for the first time I can recall, my hair held the curl and style ALL DAY! Incredible! It was even still wavy the next day! It's been over several years and I still get compliments on her work that day when people see my pictures. She has also helped me find a style that both suits my face and isn't high maintenance. I'm not a very good girly girl, so I need a style that can have brush run through it after a shower and be good to go. That is exactly what I get every time I visit Shannen, even when I ask her to change up the cut a bit for something fresh. If you are looking for a new stylist, look no further! Wow...I can honestly say she made my hair look the best it's ever looked before. This is a big deal since I have been keeping up the "natural blonde look" for over 25 years at other salons. I've never taken the time to post a review of any kind, but Michelle really stood out to me. I just tried this place because my hair dresser moved here and I love it. I had a cut and style with Teresa in suite 133. Each hair dresser has their own private suite with all the amenities in there. The place is cute, clean and convenient. It's right next to Sprouts and there is plenty of parking. Renae was amazing she took her time to fix my damaged attempt at bleaching my hair that was badly Burnt and damaged ( my own doing) I was nervous and slightly embarrassed to show someone how damaged it was. She had a hard task at hand. In the end she took my long hair and cut it short, well this is the shortest I've ever had it. First time having my hair done by Regina...she is Awesome! A friend recommended her to me, and since my previous hair dresser recently moved away, I was in need of someone new. I was running late for our appointment, hitting traffic on the way there after work, and she was incredibly nice and understanding about it. It's disappointing that I need to write this review. I have been going to Gerardo for the past 5 years. At my last appointment he locked his salon door and just left. The lady next to him said he was just there. I was there a hour waiting for him and texted him twice. It has been 4 months and I haven't heard from him. Come to find out when he saw me leave the salon he came back to his salon and saw another client. I drive a hour both ways to see him. So it was a waste of gas money and my Saturday!!!!! I tip him 30 percent every-time so this is beyond WRONG!!!! He is there to care for my hair!!!! The last time I went to him he didn't do a good job and washed my hair too soon and the color washed out fast. I hope a manager sees this and this gets back to him. He works out of the Poway salon. DO NOT go to him as he will also send e-mails the day before saying '' appointment canceled'' I have told my friends and they won't be going back to this salon.
