This is the best nail shop in the area. I've been to many in this area and have not experienced this level of customer service and attention to detail at any other shop. The entire staff is so professional, kind, thorough, and very warm. The first time I experienced their attentive service I was blown away. Sophia gave me the best pedicure/ massage I have ever had! I go to her regularly now. She pays attention to all my little requests and you can tell she really cares. It often feels like customer service is so bad at nail shops at times so it was so refreshing to find this shop. They do an amazing job on your nails. You will not find a better pedicure/manicure than this within a 20 mile radius, trust me. Lastly, I told them I was looking for a certain color and they ordered it the shop! WOW! I go there once in a month for manicure, Pedicure and face wax. I always give them a good tip. I've been happy with manicurist and pedicurist. Last month when I was still waiting for my pedicure to be done the lady who does the face wax stood me up from my chair and took me to waxing room. I protested. She didn't let me to put on my sandals. I thought it's ok and is a single incident. Maybe they overbooked. I let it go. This month I had an appointment so I show up they sat me on the chair and they are in the middle of working on my nails that the wax lady comes and says follow me. I resisted and said no they are not finished. She gave me some excuses and I said I do not want to wax today. But then she brought her waxing stuff to the chair ordered me to close my eyes yanked my glasses and I'm like what is going on my hands and my feet are being worked on. My chair is positioned back she is putting wax on my face and blowing air which was discussing for wax to get dry. She powdered my face after and powder went to my eye. Horrible time. Couldn't wait to get out of there. So they charged me 110 and asked how much for tip. Just audacity. Came home with yanked glasses powder in my eye and big rash on my face. All because the wax lady wanted to take care of another customer. Horrible experience. I forgot while she was waxing my eye brows which she ordered to close my eyes I felt some air is blowing toward my face I opened my eyes to see what's happening and I again she said close your eyes then I realized she is blowing air to my face and I asked her to stop it. I'm seriously disappointed and I don't know who the owner or manager is. If it's the wax lady I have some news for you. You may do business like this where you are coming from but not here. So my next step is to report her business I didn't even want to give one star but it doesn't let me post until give them a star. read more

I've tried many nail salons in SD over the years and Valentines (formerly Majestic) is the BEST for manicures & pedicures, especially for pink and white acrylic nails. You may pay a tiny bit more here for a full set or backfill, but it's worth it. The service is excellent & they are meticulous & skilled artists who take pride in their work. I'm hard on my nails between typing all day on a computer & household chores & gardening, but my nails look as good 4-6 weeks later as they did Day 1. Ask for Sophia or Jasmine. Cheers! read more

A new owner can make a huge difference. My previous review focused on a lack of genuine customer service. Such a huge improvement in grace and courtesy. Last week I called for a pedicure on a Friday night. Not sure who answered the phone, but they were happy to have me come. Once I got there I was encouraged to stay. No worries. They were supposed to be closing in a hour. I was encouraged to stay, relax and enjoy the time. Great service Wonderful massage. Although I was invited to chill, I opted to go with my fresh toes. To echo others' reviews on Google, the manager here is laughably rude. I was in the neighborhood and needed to get a broken nail fixed. I stopped by here because it had decent reviews. The manager was standing at the front desk. She stared at me wordlessly before and after my request, while I showed her the nail. She then barked at me to "open the hand!" so that she could see all the nails for some reason, even though I only had one broken nail. Then she told me in a stream of words and a run on sentence to go back to the original salon because they probably didn't have the same color of nail polish. I asked her to glue the nail instead which she promptly did (this is why I'm giving 2 stars). When I thanked her and brought the nail closer to me to check on it, she literally swatted my hand with hers, again yelling "open the hand!" As I rushed out the door, she was giving a pressured explanation of how my skin would stick to my nail if I didn't OPEN THE HAND. Never coming back to this God forsaken establishment. Update: 08/18/2022 Still a 5 Star Nail Salón for me. They keep salón very clean. Jenny continues to do my nails beautifully every time. I love their massage chairs. I relax quite well with a nice massage and getting a pedicure.. I was telling Jenny I have hit my nails quite hard at work. So hard I think for sure it's broken. I look at the nail and it's still intact and not broken. She uses quality material and it shows. Her work is also quality work. I continue to highly reccommend Jenny and her staff. Going on two years this coming October 2022 and I love driving up to see Jenny and having her do my nails. Valentine's Nail and Spa continues to be a great establishment. Clean , friendly, and personable staff. They truly focus on giving you a great experience . I'll continue to drive up from Chula Vista to get my nails done with Jenny. I was in a pinch last October 2020. I needed my nails done for my sons wedding. I was calling multiple places and no one had available appointments. I called Valentine's and they didn't have openings but took me anyway. They are the best nail salon place I've ever been too. They are covid-19 compliant. Their facilities are impeccably clean. They provide social distancing with one seat in between you and other customers, and have barriers as well, for manicure station. I've had my nails done here since October by Jenny . Jasmine does an AMAZING job on pedicures. Let me tell you, they provide beautiful quality manicures and pedicures. My nails last a long time. They latest through the last shut down. They were very grown out, but they didn't chip or fall off. I am NEVER going any where else as long as they're in business. She called me to remind me of my appointment, and knew exactly what I love. I feel so pampered and relaxed after coming here. They are very kind, professional, and amazing nail technicians. Support this local business, it's worth your time and money to come here. You will be treated very well and given excellent quality work. I work in this area, just this month my boss decided to close the office down. This means I will have to travel up here from Chula Vista to get my pedicure and manicure. Well it is well worth it for me. I love getting my nails done here! I have acrylics and when I get fills they do such a good job it last me sometimes over a month! No chips or breakage. They are really precise about their work! When I leave, every nail looks the same and can withstand a minimum 3-4 weeks. Overall you will be super happy with your nails! I have been here a couple of times recently and it was OK. I tried to walk in last week and they said i need an appointment. I made one for 2pm today for a pedicure. I was directed to a chair and told to remove my shoes. After 35 minutes of being totally ignored I replaced my shoes and left. The owner chased after me down the sidewalk grabbing my arm and begging me to return, rambling on about her father being in hospital. WEIRD!!! I kept going and will not be returning. STAY AWAY from this place it is badly run and the owner is Wacko!!! read more

This review is from a males perspective and all I have to say is Sophia is God sent! No wonder why she's given the nickname THE NAIL DOCTOR. Very sweet and such a cheerful laugh and personality! The nail bed on my big toe was damaged from sports about 10 years ago. My nail started growing really ugly half way up where the damage occurred. I went to podiatrists and they all said there is nothing that can be done. I started going to nail salons to cut the nail because a regular clipper didn't work well. I've been to multiple different nail salons over the years and they all said nothing can be done and could only trim the nail up to a certain point. Recently my toe got stepped on hard and the nail loosened and it got really ugly and grew even uglier. The nail salon I went to said they couldn't trim my nail and said I had to go to the doctor to get it completely removed. Randomly my mother tried Valentines Nails & Spa and Sophia helped her. My mom told her about my nail and Sophia requested to see a picture. My mom showed it to her and with complete confidence Sophia said she can help. I went in the next day and my goodness, within 5 seconds she trimmed the nail back to where NOBODY could and completely pain free! She used special tools that NO ONE has ever used and she shaved down my nail cleaned it all around really well! She guaranteed me that In two more visits she could have my nail start growing back like normal. Sophia is a miracle worker and I will definitely be coming back. I have 1000% confidence that this damaged nail of 10+ years will be a thing in the past! Thank you Sophia you are the best! read more
