This is my favorite nail salon. I've been coming here after Covid and never looked anywhere else. They treat you well and always offer you a beverage when you sit down. The color selection is vast! I'm always here for a pedicure and a clean up manicure. Nothing fancy. I've been seeing Ms. Van for years and she always gets my toes and fingers looking good. She is very particular about rough edges and dry skin. She will make sure they're smooth and moisturized. Although they say they accept walk-ins, I suggest you make an appointment. I've seen people walk in but because this nail salon is phenomenal, they have to turn people away. Or they really try to see you the next day. They're busy because they're good. They take the time to pamper you so you never feel like you're being rushed out of here. So if you walk in and see that there's a technician who's not doing anything, chances are, she's waiting for her client who has an appointment. Don't be mad that they can't take you. I love love love the ladies here. They always take such good care of everyone. There has never been a time where I walked out not liking my nails. I never really have any over the top crazy nail designs. I like to keep my nails simple, but I do love my sparkles. My last set of nails had no sparkles and the ladies were surprised I didn't pick and glitters but they were not surprised that I went with a blue and yellow theme. November I do my fall colors. December I either do red with white glitter and January I do a light blue with that same white glitter for a winter wonderland theme. February was red nails. March, my birthday month, I had to go and do my signature Warriors nails with the Blue and Yellow. No matter which lady does my nails, they always come out looking beautifully. read more

I got a pedicure and manicure done. My pedicure was great. Van did an amazing job. My manicure person was very sweet however my nails just weren't it. I had super short nails so I decided on gel x. The filing was great and at first I thought the glue was okay, until after.. where you can see big gaps from the glue to my nail, as in it was too thick. I ended up having to go somewhere right after for them to file down my nail because it was extremely thick due to polish not being spread evenly and my French tip lines weren't even or clean. The person did say, you can tell me if I need to fix it, when she fixed the first nail it was okay but then proceeded to do the rest and at that point I had been there for 1 hour and 20 minutes. I held off on leaving a review for a while because I really don't want to leave a bad review. However the last appointment I had with Phenomenial Salon really left a bad taste in my mouth. To preface, I have gone to Phenomenial Salon 4 times in total, if I recall correctly. Twice was a pedicure, once was Gel X Manicure with design, and the last appointment was to remove the Gel X Manicure and just a basic manicure. The pedicures have been alright, they really just do the job for trimming the nails and painting it. Nothing special or crazy, it wasn't really worth noting in my opinion. The Gel X Manicure was nice. The person who did my manicure, Jessica(?) was super kind and patient. Was overall, a good experience, which is why I bumped this review up to a 2 star. However the last experience I had at this salon, getting my Gel X removed and doing a basic manicure was a terrible experience. Personally, I don't think the person who was doing my removal was paying much attention. On ten of my fingers, I got 7 cuts from the drill they used, with one being so deep that it was bleeding. On the dusty old drill. While they cut seem small, you can imagine the pain like a paper cut that kept stinging and burning for days afterwards. Not to mention the possible risk of infection because the drill bit was so dirty. And quite frankly, I'm not sure if the bit is sanitized afterwards. I brought this up with the manager and she seemed pretty dismissive about it. Like these cuts happen all the time. It shouldn't -- I've been at a fair share of nail salon, and this is the open time it has happened to this extent. And for her to be dismissive about it really rubbed me the wrong way. In the end, I didn't make a scene and just paid with a minor tip. Honestly, I'm too awkward to be super confrontational about it. I brought up the fact, got dismissed and nothing really happened. I first went to Phenomenail Salon about a month ago to get an acrylic set prior to going on vacation and Alejandra did a beautiful job! She did a lovely marble and gold design and took her time to make sure everything was even. The set held up beautifully and looked great the entire time. Two weeks later or so, I went back for a fill; this is where it all went downhill. I had the fill done on Saturday by a different tech, and by Monday the color was peeling (I realized she forgot base coat under the gel!) And the acrylics were filed so thin that they were breaking right off. Two days! I'm not ridiculously hard on my hands and I've never had acrylics hold up so poorly in my life. I'm so disappointed and wasted a ton of money. The same tech that did the acrylic fill had also done my pedicure the last time and the skin around my toenails was bloody after the fact. It took about 2-3 hours to have my nails done which is way too long than expected.... (One of the reasons why I gave 3 stars) Since staffs are quite new, it takes much longer for staffs to complete their services. They aren't as advanced and do not do fancy designs, which I ended up choosing French nails. What's special about phenomenail is that they offer gel-x nails which is a special type of manicure that harms your nails way less than normal acrylics! These are super popular in Asia and is not greatly introduced yet in the states. I normally get these back home in Taiwan and the qualities are amazing!! :) Staffs are super nice, patient and very helpful :) they are also masked and also checks if customers are vaccinated or not! I can be one of the pickiest people when it comes to choosing a salon. What I really look for in a quality salon is cleanliness & talent. Phenomenail Salon did not miss a beat. I came here in search of gel-x for my wedding nails, so it had to be perfect. The team of artists were nothing short of talented. Diana and Alejandra especially did an amazing job with my gel-x with chrome topping. Van also did a great job on my pedicure and made sure it was up-to-par in a timely manner. My gel-x nails even lasted 5 solid weeks and removal was a breeze. Bonus that gel-x turned out far better for my natural nails than acrylic! The biggest selling point for me was that their tools came out of the autoclave (a proper way to sanitize). I'd like to preface for anyone booking to know that this location of Phenomenail Salon is different than any other closely named branch and is in no way related to the one in Oakland. So please double check before you book that it is the proper location as many people seem to get confused. This place will be my new go to salon even if it is an hour away from me. read more

I used to love to come here. I came every month for the past 3 years. I would refer all my clients here. But last time I got someone new and 5 of my nails fell off within 2 weeks. I called and the manager had me come in and they still charged me for a "repair" for $15. When this was an error on them not me. I am in the service industry and I would never. The nails she didn't fix fell off days later so I won't be coming back. I never cared paying a high price because they lasted 6 weeks. But I do when they just fall right off. I've got gel mani's a total of three times so far. I have strong natural nails so have always just got the regular gel mani. the first and second sets were great and lasted the normal like 3-4 weeks. this 3rd time around, I thought the tech went pretty fast. I don't know why because they just opened, but the nails still looked good. oh I also have to say all 3 times i went, I had a different tech each time. Literally 1-week later the polish on one of my nails started cracking and then started cracking on the other nails. Nothing in my daily routine changed, no extra hair washing or dishwashing or joining a swim team. I called to let them know and they said it could be because water started penetrating. Like I said in my 15 or so years of getting regular gel mani's, the polish cracking has legit never happened. Also the fact that it began 1-week after I got them done, I would've expected some sort of offer to redo them. even a discounted offer. Nope - the lady told me to request soft gel next time saying that it's a bit more expensive but will probably stop the cracking. I seriously grappled over whether to post this review, but its absolutely necessary. More on that to follow. I chose this salon for two reasons: 1, the ability to make an appointment online, and 2, the rating on yelp. I made an appointment online for "a gel manicure" because i thought it closest described what i needed (an acrylic fill with gel polish....it said 45 minutes which seemed right to me). Apparently that wasnt correct, which i was informed of when i showed up for my 10:30 appointment. My mistake, i saw no option for an actual acrylic fill. Only "gel x" which i don't have, and i didnt have the 2 hours of time it quoted for a gel x with removal because i had work at 12pm (appointment was made for 1030am). When the receptionist mentioned this, I said i would be happy to make an appointment for later that day or week since i was on a time constraint. I was told "we have a nail tech who specializes in acrylic but she doesnt come until 11, so we will remove your polish and prep you for her, but i was assured by two different people that time wouldnt be an issue. Ok, cool! Loved that they could work with me and my schedule, and everyone was very friendly. The first red flag was when i saw the price list, which was conveniently not posted on their site when i made an appointment. 60 bucks for an acrylic fill!!! But i told myself if the work was truly 4.5 stars, i could justify the cost. Once i sat in the chair, i saw the second red flag! A sign saying that if you left a 5 star review on yelp and google, you'd get $10 off your visit. Given the hefty price tag, i was tempted, but i don't believe in reviewing a service before i properly vet it, so i decided not to. But the high rating clicked with me at that point. Now, onto the actual service...the nail tech arrived early and was promptly working on my nails by 11am as promised...loved that. She was INCREDIBLY sweet and for that reason alone im not going to name her, but she was definitely inexperienced to be working at a salon that fancies itself at such a high caliber. This is actually perhaps the worst nail service i have received in recent memory. For starters: I needed 3 nails completely replaced, as they had broken off. When she applied the tips, i told her that my current nails were too long and i wanted to go down on length. She asked "do you want them to match the others?" Well duh! Lmao who wants different length nails? I said i would need the others filed down to match. Well, that didn't happen. She "filed them down", but didnt compare the fingernails and their length so i ended up with nails WILDLY different in length, and by the time i realized she was going to leave them like that, i didnt have the time to bring it up as i was seriously closing in on when i had to leave. Decided to deal with it. I liked the nail tech and didnt want to make her feel bad. Maybe she misunderstood me or something. I asked for a matte top coat and she agreed, but i noticed during the painting of my nails that she wasnt using it. Ok, fine. Ill deal. Got done at 12 on the dot and was late for work. My fault for cutting it so close. The total bill was $70 because of the repairs. Single color. No nail art. Ridiculous but no turning back at that point. Once i got to work and could really look at them, the buyers remorse set in. The nails were lumpy, uneven, misshapen and if i didnt already mention it, the three new nails were SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than the other ones. But I was STILL too nice to leave a bad review because all my coworkers said "they arent so bad!" when i expressed my disdain. The straw that broke the camels back? The TWO nails that lifted and popped off today. Today being Thursday. They were done on Tuesday. 48 hours. Thats it. Im furious and i feel taken advantage of. Thought about calling the salon and asking them to make it right but my whole experience said "don't bother." I will never recommend this salon to anyone. For $80 incl tip i got awful nails that didn't even last 2 days. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Went for the first time this last Sunday and had such an amazing experience!! I got a manicure using dip overlay. I do nail dips on a regular basis, but let me tell you - this was done so precisely, wasn't thick, and felt stronger that how it was normally done for me. I appreciate Eileen taking her time and not rushing. The ladies here are all incredibly sweet and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable, relaxed, and taken care of.
