I've gone to Royal Nail Spa a handful of times now and have been meaning to write a review. I wanted to leave an honest review because I've noticed a lot of complaints about pricing. Yes -- this salon is on the more expensive side, and they do charge separately for things like gel polish, reshaping, etc. However, all of those prices are clearly listed on the menu. I feel like a lot of the negative reviews come from people not fully reading or understanding that the manicure/pedicure base price does not include gel, which is an additional cost. Personally, I think the pricing is worth it because you truly get what you pay for here. The technicians are very detail-oriented and really take their time to make sure you leave happy with your nails. I never feel rushed, and the quality has always been consistent for me. I also think communication is key when getting your nails done anywhere. You have to communicate what you're looking for in terms of shape, color, length, etc. I've personally never felt uncomfortable being honest or speaking up if there was something I wanted adjusted, and they've always been willing to make sure I left happy. I typically go to Mimi, Ni, or Bella, and they always do an amazing job. I came to Royal Nails Spa on August 6, 2026, after dropping my dog off at the vet. I had been dealing with stressful vet appointments and wanted to treat myself to something nice. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the services I received. It has taken me a while to write this review because I was busy caring for my dog, who sadly has since passed away. I made my appointment online and they were able to get me in right away. The salon itself is beautiful and has a high-end appearance, and the receptionist was friendly. Unfortunately, the quality of my services did not match the appearance or the prices. I received a Gel-X new set for $110 and a gel pedicure for $82. With the cash discount, I paid $183 before tip and over $200 total after tipping. The appointment also became uncomfortable because I repeatedly heard things like "that's extra," "this color is extra," and "that costs extra." I appreciate being informed about additional charges beforehand, but hearing it repeatedly made the experience feel more focused on upselling and money than providing a relaxing, high-quality service. For the premium prices being charged, I expected premium-quality work. Unfortunately, the problems started almost immediately. My appointment was August 6. I am attaching a photo taken August 7 at 7:11 PM, literally the next day, showing that the gel polish on my pedicure had already chipped/come off. An $82 gel pedicure should not be chipping one day after the service. I also needed acrylic sculpted onto a toenail I had previously lost. The pedicure technician seemed unsure how to do it and brought over acrylic nail tips. The technician doing my manicure actually had to stop working on my hands, tell the other technician no, and take over doing the acrylic on my toenail herself. Then my Gel-X manicure started lifting and the nails began popping off. My second photo is dated August 14 at 7:02 AM, only eight days after my appointment, and shows the lifting/separation. The Gel-X application was also messy underneath my nails, with excess product globbed up on the undersides. In my opinion, the extensions did not appear to have been properly sized or applied. After spending over $200 including tip, having my $82 gel pedicure chip the very next day and my $110 Gel-X manicure begin lifting and coming apart within days was incredibly disappointing. Maybe I happened to get inexperienced technicians that day -- I can't say. But based on my experience, I personally would not return. At this point, I am not interested in returning to have the services redone. I would simply like my money refunded. I don't feel comfortable giving the salon another opportunity to work on my nails after this experience. This was supposed to be a small moment of self-care during an incredibly difficult time while I was dealing with my dog's health. Instead, I spent over $200 on nails that began falling apart almost immediately. A beautiful, high-end-looking salon doesn't make up for poor-quality work. On my first visit to this salon, I received a Gel X manicure-- Unfortunately, I was put with a brand new employee on her first day. It went just as I worried... she filed my nails down incredibly thin, and then 5/10 nails were broken off within 5 days. When I called, I was told that the employee no longer works at the salon, they apologize, and to come in so they could fix my nails... I asked if I needed to make an appointment because I only had a small window of time, and was told no, just come in. When I came in, I was told I needed to wait 30+ minutes. I don't have 30+ minutes. I told them I'm going to have to go elsewhere, and a partial or full refund wasn't offered which is crazy for such a terrible service. I went to another salon, they felt bad and gave me free removal for the 5/10 nails left, and charged me $15 less than Royal Nails did for the initial service. Disappointed. I moved to Livermore about a year ago and have been coming here for pedicures. My previous experiences have been great, and other technicians have always done a good job, which makes this review especially disappointing. Unfortunately, my experience during my most recent visit was not up to the standard I've come to expect. First, the salon advertises a 5% discount for cash payments. However, when paying in cash, I was told they do not provide change and my total was rounded up to the nearest dollar. While the amount was small, it felt misleading and took away from the advertised discount. More importantly, my pedicure service felt rushed with Timmy. I requested a square shape for my toenails, but my big toenail was cut crooked. I didn't notice until after the service was completed. The polish application was also uneven, and my pinky toenail was only partially painted, with a noticeable portion left uncovered. Because I've had positive experiences here in the past, I'm disappointed to be writing this review. They did an amazing job! Went in today and got builder gel on my very short, natural nails, and asked for some nail art whatever was possible. Lily was able to make it happen no problem and did an amazing job with the art. I also paid for the luxury pedicure and they did fantastic with that as well. Highly recommend. The only "con" is that they accept tips in cash only, which is very clearly labeled at the front when you check in. I just did not plan accordingly, and had to pay to use their ATM in order to tip. My nail technician, Amanda, seemed to be the manager since she was coordinating appointments and directing staff throughout my visit. At first, I was excited because I assumed she'd be very experienced based on all the positive reviews here. I'm pretty particular about my nails especially details like clean polish application close to the cuticle, even coats, and consistent nail shape. Unfortunately, because she was multitasking the entire appointment, it felt like my nails didn't get the attention to detail I was hoping for. She didn't ask what nail shape I wanted, and the shape ended up looking inconsistent from nail to nail. The polish application also wasn't the cleanest. Some lines are uneven, the coats aren't fully smooth, and there are a few bubbles. It a bit disappointing because Amanda seems highly praised in many of the reviews. That said, this place is clearly well-loved by locals, and the prices are reasonable/average for the area. It may be worth it if you're taking advantage of the complimentary drinks, but personally I'd still recommend Ken Nails in Dublin for consistent results. I have been going here for a while now just because it is close but I am done. This is not the place for me and maybe it is not the place for you. The owner/manager is a lady she sits behind the check-in station I have just had. A few experiences with her that were very unprofessional. In addition to literally a week later my gel nails are getting stuck in my hair because they're lifting what happens when they're lifting water gets under there and bacteria grows so the next time you have your nails done they're a little brown spots. This has happened several times. But even dealing with that the owner manager literally chewed her new employee out right in front of me, there was a new receptionist as I was checking out, the owner says, I have told you three times that is not how it goes, the poor gal just had her eyes looking down, but was quiet and patient. Oh my goodness I just felt so bad for her, pull somebody aside if you need to talk to them do not do that right in front of the customer. So after I got my money out of the ATM I told her before I left how inappropriate that was and how sad I felt for her employee, and she just looked at me and didn't say anything. Another time I just wanted a few polkadots on my nails they're gel so the designs are minimal. She said that'll be $25 and I questioned her like is she kidding me? And she rudely says no that is what we charge. Not a place I feel good about this is very sad. Customers are the lifeline of your business. They charged me an adult price for my 7 year old because she's taller than 120cm even through she didn't reach the water in the pedicure tub without pillows behind her. I typically shy away from doing one star reviews, especially when the establishment is highly rated, but with 4 of us going and all of us having a bad experience, I feel it's more than warranted. We got 4 manicures (2 acrylic), and 2 pedicures. Of the two pedicures, one of the water baths was scalding hot and the other was pretty cold. We both asked for the water temperature to be changed and nothing was done. The standard pedicure is a pretty normal price for the area, but if you want old gel removed and new gel polish add an extra $17. A six minute massage is included and they have a timer to show that they meet the time, but I'm not exaggerating when I say she just ran her hands touching up and down my leg with no pressure at all. Additionally, on one of the acrylic manicures, we asked for them to be significantly shortened and they were barely filed. All of this was forgivable and definitely not worthy of a one star, or even a 3 star, except for everything that follows: on one of the pedicures, my friends toe was cut and became infected. She had pus coming out of it for the next couple days. My other friend who got a manicure bled 3 times during cuticle trimming, and one of her nails was buffed so thin that it burned to touch. She told the nail technician, but it was basically shrugged off. On my pedicure, the technician also smudged my polish and wrinkled it up on my big toe (to the point of seeing the nail in patches). This is also a place that obviously up charges a bit because it's a luxury experience (you get a free beverage) but when I was served my tea, the bag had broken in it and leaves were everywhere. When I pointed this out to the woman who gave it to me, she just shrugged and left. My experience here was comically bad- not sure if we came in on an off day, but poor service for 4 women in an afternoon is pretty dismal. read more

I went in to get a previous poor quality nail job from this place fixed. They were initially attentive and willing to resolve the issue free of charge. But then after 10 minutes of work the older lady name Lex at the front desk said I would need to pay the full amount. I objected and said no this is not right or what was agreed to prior to starting. Lex started to shouted at me saying this particular nail tech ( I don't want to mention her name) has been doing her nails for 20 years, she is great. I've been going to Royal Nail Spa ever since they opened (not often), and when they first opened, the quality of pedicures and service was exceptional. The past few times I've been with my son, the paint on the nails hasn't been great. When my pedicure was complete, they told me to wait for 10 minutes. Another tech came by and put my shoes on 5 minutes later, which unfortunately smudged the paint. She redid it 2x. I didn't notice until I got home, that the other big toe had smudged paint as well. Now, this is my bad for not doing my research. I do find it comical that my son's pedicure costs the same as mine, even though he doesn't have his nails painted? Thought it might've been a bit less, but nope! At this point, I won't be returning. read more

3/22/26 - Updated review (changed from 5 stars to 1 star) I just visited Royal Nail Spa for the first time in several months. I needed a manicure and pedicure before a trip. I used to frequent the salon when I had gel nails and routinely saw Mimi, who does a great job. However, today was a really bad experience and I will never come back. I made an appointment to see Mimi for my manicure and Sandy for my pedicure, but Sandy was out today so they gave me someone named Tiffany. Mimi was fine, as usual, but Tiffany did a horrible job on my pedicure. She barely cleaned the cuticles around my toe nails and she cut one of my big toe nails too short and slanted. I hadn't noticed because of the angle but realized it after my toes were painted. For some reason, I was hastily handed off to two new people to paint my nails and toes and Mimi and Tiffany disappeared to help other customers. No one said anything to me about why. But the person that painted my toes (a man) did a sloppy, quick job. After he rushed off, I noticed that one of my toe nails was crooked and super short and that the pant was thick and bubbly. I told another nail tech that was working on the woman beside me and she got someone else to come and re-do my toes. This person spent some extra time to clean my cuticles and did her best to even out my toenail, but once the nail is gone. It's gone. The paint job was much better, but still. What the heck?? After all that, when I went to pay the bill, no discount was offered and the bill was $98. $98!!!! For a mani/pedi that they rushed through. Absolutely ridiculous. Fortunately I had a gift card for $75 so I didn't have to pay too much. But I'm so frustrated and disappointed. I won't be back. read more

The customer service and experience were really nice, the salon is clean and there are so many beautiful colors to choose from. The pedicure was very relaxing. I probably won't return because I have received more precise and careful manicures for a lower price point elsewhere. My photos were taken the same day as getting my nails done but it already looks grown out a week and you can see the swirls of the rigid nail file under the milky polish. Other manicurists I've had have taken a lot more care to smooth out my nail surface before polishing, and measured my nails side-by-side to ensure they were filed evenly. The manicurist moved quite fast and did not take all the steps I have seen others take to create nails I'll be excited to look at for the next couple of weeks. read more

Been going here ever since their grand opening but up until today I am very disappointed. My pedicures are always on point. The ladies do a fabulous job every single time. Unfortunately, the manicures are very inconsistent and exemplify sloppy work. Timmy did my manicure and it was not polished. I was left bleeding on one finger profusely and the nail polish application was executed very poorly. I chose this place to get my engagement photos done. The person who did my nails was able to replicated what I wanted. Afterwards, I noticed there were particles making the surface look bumpy. To be fair, I came the day before Christmas Eve so it was busy. I understand all nail technicians could not take their time. I have a 4 stars because one day I had to get a nail fix and the nail technician grabbed items needed to perfect it. She had the nail color but ended up not using it so my nail looked lighter than others as you can see in the photo. I tried them again and love how the nail technician knows how to make them short.
