This is at least the third time Don has helped us in a pinch over the last decade. Our grass was dying from the heat a couple of weeks ago, but running the sprinkler made the whole house shake. I was sure it was my sprinkler valve, but had an issue changing the valve: The pipes were too tight! I texted Don and got my hacksaw, but luckily he texted right back. He was able to squeeze in a quick visit before the weekend, and found that the water regulator for the entire house was making the pipes shake. My sprinkler valve was just fine. That regulator had given out after 30 years. With that replaced, all problems were solved. He even arranged for a quick stop in on SUNDAY MORNING to make sure we were set. Pros: Very quick to respond, and was out the very next day after a late afternoon call. His work was pretty good too despite our new house having a unique situation with the bathroom. Long story short, it was a flip with questionable choices. He was also polite and courteous for the most part. Cons: Definitely overpriced. $425 to pick up and put in a new faucet and drain with caulking around the vessel sink with $25 up charge for his "inconvenience" at the store. He apparently struggled to find the faucet at Lowe's, so I had to pay extra for that.... Take away: PHI was pretty average I'd say. Nothing too bad really, nothing amazing either and for the premium price I definitely didn't get a premium service. At least not in my opinion. Dealt with far better plumbers in our old area of Broomfield that had a more reasonable price for more extensive work. If another plumbing need arises, I will probably shop around, PHI doesn't deserve repeated business. read more

Easy scheduling - I contacted PHI Plumbing this morning and Don came in and fixed my leaking pipe in the afternoon! I had Don installed a pressure vacuum breaker for me and serviced my water heater last year. Since then I don't try to get multiple quotes anymore but go to PHI directly. We have been using Don for about the last 15 years from broken pipes to water heater heater replacement. This morning I found a leak in the crawl space at 6:30 and turned off the water to the the house. I called and left a message for Don that I needed him. He called back at 8:00 to say he had a water heater replacement lined up for the morning but he could get to me around 1:00. He then called me around 1:05 and said he would be at my house in 15 minutes. He was able to repair the pipe in the crawl space that fed my out door faucet and even added extra valve that I could turn off to the faucet in the crawl space in case there was ever another leak. We had Don from PHI Plumbing over to cap a gas line. I appreciated he took good safety precautions. He used the double wrench method when loosening our gas line. He used a sniffer to see if there was a gas leak at anything he manipulated. He waited until our boiler got going again as he had to bleed some air from the line. He waiting with us to be sure our generator was running. The price was higher than I expected but he quoted it over the phone prior to the service call (none of that I'll tell you when I get there) and I accepted as we were in a time crunch due to another plumber not showing up. Well, what can I say that my fellow Yelpers have yet to cover? Here's my experience: I have an older 1930's home, and needed to get the old galvanized pipe out of it, replacing it with the new PEX plastic piping solution. I had a couple of bids from the bigger companies, and after describing the job to Don, and without even seeing what needed to be done, he told me that they were WAY over pricing the work. I called on a Tuesday. He was on the job Wednesday morning, and came in at about half of what the bigger shops had quoted for the job. This was a pinhole in a copper pipe that would have been very hard for most to track down. He replaced the pipe and except for some holes needing patches, everything is fixed. Don was the first person I called because of the Yelp ratings, and I can tell you that he earned every star. I had an emergency with a failed valve that feeds a swamp cooler in the attic. To compound problems, the water main shutoff inside the house was frozen OPEN. Even though I wrenched it closed as tightly as I could, it would not shut off. After panicking and running around the house opening all the faucets including the outside hose bibs to allow pressure out, I ran to Home Depot to grab a pressure cap that I could apply to the first valve to stop the water. It was while I was driving to Home Depot that I called Don, and he dropped EVERYTHING to run to my house and shut of the water main outside for me to stop the water. An hour of work, and I have two brand new valves (and now I know I can shut off the water in an emergency.) No damage, thank goodness, and Don didn't gouge me at all. A very reasonable price, even though I had an emergency. I am dumbfounded as to how this man has so many positive reviews. That's actually the reason I went with him, wish I hadn't. In fact, if you look on Nextdoor you will see some not so great reviews within posts asking for recs. Had him come out for what should have been a simple leak from the kitchen sink. Visit was $120 or $140, I can't recall, and he literally did nothing. I'm not exaggerating when I say this. He couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from even though I had a bowl under the pipe and you could clearly see where it was leaking from. He was also so gruff and rude the entire time. A little bit of good customer service goes a long way, even if you own your own business. After doing NOTHING aside from tightening a few things that probably had nothing to do with the leak anyway, he left. The next day I could see that it was still leaking into the bowl, I didn't want to pay for a new person to come out so I was hoping he would back up his "work" and come out for free since he hadn't done anything before. He so kindly charged me, at least it was only $80ish, STILL couldn't find the source of the leak so he put some caulking or whatever he used on the pipes under the sink. Again, did nothing. I had AAA Plumbing come out and I swear to you the plumber with AAA diagnosed the leak within minutes. He fixed it and no leaks since! It's laughable that this man calls himself a master plumber when he can't diagnose a simple leak that a real plumber found instantly. read more

I called PHI plumbing about 2pm, and Don answered. He was already on a job but he listened to me as I described my problem. He asked some questions to get a better feel for the work. Don said he would finish his job and get to my place, but could be 6 to 7 pm. I said that's still good because I can't turn my water on due to a faucet that can't be stopped. It's Saturday on a holiday weekend. I called several plumbers and sprinkler guys, no one was open. I called Don and he was at my house within about an hour. I live in Reunion which is not typically within his service area but he happened to be going out to Henderson so he made the extra trip! My main sprinkler pipe had become corroded and had possibly been frozen at one time. It was leaking like a faucet. He cut a new pipe and soldered it on right away. He was fast, friendly, and honest.
