Ok I'm home visiting family in NEPA, and my baby sister recommended this place for a good hoagie. Though not the best I ever had, damn these are solid hoagies. I got the Italian and it was loaded, and I mean loaded with meat. The produce was fresh, and the bread was beyond fresh and delicious, I miss bread like this. Service was quick and efficient, the staff was very friendly, and that sandwich was well worth $11.00. I highly recommend if you're in the area it is well worth a stop in. read more

Wow... Way more than I expected... This place doesn't look like much but the sub was awesome. I was in the mood for a philly cheese steak and Philadelphia Subs sounded like like just the place. I ordered their steak sub and the girl at the counter suggested having it with pizza sauce. This was one of the best steak subs I have. They don't have a soda fountain so you have buy your soda in a bottle but the do have ice and cups. I really liked this place and would strongly recommend them. read more

Part 1 of the Philadelphia Subs review. They are located on Northampton Street in Wilkes-Barre Township. In this video we are hot doggin' footlong style. The chili, mustard, sauteed peppers and onions. When we go hot doggin' we do not rate the dog, we celebrate the dog with those great toppings. How was it you ask? This was absolutely delicious. You may, I didn't think a sub joint could pull off a great tasting dog. And as always, I washed it down with a coke. Now I have to say that they serve some great tasting chili sauce. How have I never reviewed this place after all these years? Well, maybe too late, but not too little as it's nothing less than 5 stars. This is our WB go to for cheesesteaks. We're big fans of the tomato sauce so that's what sets these guys apart from everyone else. My wife eats gluten free and this is her #1 item on the "cheat" list everytime we're in town. My latest go to has been the cap/salami sub. For some reason it's pulled me away from cheesesteaks the last 3 times. Don't worry cheesesteak, I promise I'll be back next time. Love the subs here - absolutely my most favorite rolls! I always get the "D" Italian and it is always on point. I love the perfect amount of the very thin consistently sliced onions and finely shredded lettuce, which don't overpower the meat/cheese and you don't get a surprise giant chunk of onion in a bite. My boyfriend tried the turkey hoagie after some friends recommended, and he is in love! He says its the best he's had anywhere! And he's picky - so way-to-go Phila Subs! Walk in and order at counter, the friendly lady will bring food to your table or call ahead for pick up. A great selection of Dietz and Watson meats for a hoagie, although we had cheesesteaks. The cheesesteaks were great, the roll was not a philly roll but it was soft but not too doughy with a very slight crust- very good substitution. We had a large and a small cheesesteak, a tastykake, one beer and a soda for less than 20.00. My only advice is be specific- I asked for a cheesesteak hoagie with mayo and peppers and got a cheesesteak with peppers; the lady went back and put lettuce, onions and tomatoes on it like a hoagie- but next time I will be specific when ordering. read more

I was a fan of your subs for many years, and even while living 1+ hours away I was a regular customer. And by "many years" I mean 30+ years. Unfortunately, sometime after the shop recently changed hands after the original owner retired, the hoagie rolls changed. And it was a change for the worse. The rolls now look darker, and are no longer the fantastic airy and moist bread that they used to be. That's too bad you changed bakeries to save a few pennies per roll. read more

I've lived in Chicago for the past 8 years and every time I am in town, this is one of my first stops. If I had to get hoagies from just one deli, this would be my choice. There are over 25 combinations available, my personal favorite is the turkey breast and American cheese. It's a simple hoagie, but the sesame seed buns are what make the difference. Famous for their "Super sub" (ham, turkey, roast beef, capicola, american cheese, not sure what I'm missing but it is huge). I love their mozzarella sticks and mini potato pancakes. Sadly, the cajun fries are not as good as they used to be (not much flavor), but I still get them anyway. We always get take-out, but there's a small dining area as well. read more

I was a little skeptical when i saw "Philadelphia Subs" considering anyone in Philly knows they are called "Hoagies" not subs. So the authenticity had me a bit nervous. But honestly the pros definitely outweighed the cons here. We ordered cheesesteaks. The meat was good, not fatty at all, very lean cuts. There was a ton of cheese, and the homemade marinara was excellent!!! The service was friendly as well. The order came out fast. The one and only negative was the bread. We are used to bread from Philadelphia, typically a good Amoroso rolls. This bread was seeded which was bizarre. And very soft, too soft. The cheese and sauce which we loved so much, went right through the soft bread and was a mess. But besides the bread, the sandwiches themselves were super flavorful. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area. If the bread is that soft again, we will maybe ask if it can be toasted a little or something? read more

We love trying the mom and pop shops everywhere we go but this one disappointed! Called ahead for 12 inch subs since we would be cutting them in half and sharing. First off, they are NOT 12 inch subs! We wouldn't have minded if we could have planned the meal accordingly, but we definitely would have ordered more if we knew they would be smaller than the menu stated. We measured...it was actually between 10-11 inches. Also whoever took the order never asked what condiments we wanted on the turkey sub, and they automatically put on mayo AND oil AND vinegar! Seriously? Who does that? This is seriously the first sub shop I've ever been to where where they didn't ask you what you wanted on it. The bread was good old fashioned seeded sub bread I remember as a kid, but the meat was very skimpy, it was mostly lettuce and tomatoes and it was hard to get past the goopy mayo stuff. Claustrophobic little deli with a few tables and take-out beer. Good workman-like subs and sandwiches. The cheese-steak is pretty standard issue but will do just fine. I'm fond of the rather enormous foot-long chili dogs. The chili might come out of a can but gussied up with mustard and onions the thing is a miracle to behold.
