He got back to me with a very reasonable estimate in one day and had all the repair work done in two weeks. Hes the kind of tech who doesn't try to push you into a bunch of replacements adding up a big bill. I brought my Pioneer Professional DJM-500 to him as the faders were starting to fail. I brought it to Alex, he examined it and gave me a price and delivery date on the spot, and even though it turned out there was another necessary adjustment he hadn't anticipated, he did not charge any more or request more time. By far the best experience I have ever had with a computer repair service. My iMac graphics card stop working and after a few trips to the Apple Store and a visit to Springboard Media, I was given astronomical repair quotes (and a bit of attitude). Philadelphia Tech Repair replaced the graphics card for half the price I was quoted, and gave me a warranty on everything. The owner is a really down to earth guy, who made me not feel intimidated with "tech" lingo. He went the extra mile, updated my OSX and my iMac is running like the day I bought it. I have a 1990's TENS unit. (It helps with pain. Chances are you don't know what it is, and yet this business was willing to help me, so that says quite a lot about the skills level right there.) It worked until January 2016, so I had to like its durability. Since then, (and it's March 2/3/16 as I write this), I've bought two other TENS units. One lasted three weeks and the other lasted one night. I wanted quality and durability so I asked Philadelphia Tech Repair to look at it and see if it could be fixed. They were quick in responding, and gave me a Yes on looking at it, so I dropped it off yesterday afternoon. He'd call me back this afternoon to let me know if he could fix it. He did. (It is impressive in South Philly for any business to keep their promise, so this is quality service.) He couldn't fix it because it is a 1990's circuit board, and they don't make them anymore. Philadelphia Tech Repair couldn't fix it for me, but the honesty, speed, friendliness, willingness to work this hard for something that might seem to sound like it's no big deal, just let me know where I go if I ever need any other electronic fixed. I was a business owner, so I know what it takes and admire any business that is willing to go the extra mile to help. He just got another customer, and a five-star review on Yelp! Unfortunately, I have to return it, but not because Alex didn't have the expertise and patience (he came over 3 times). Sadly, system is not working for me. He went above and beyond.
