Been here pretty often since it's close to my daughter's place. Their dishes are always freshly prepared and delicious. I recently visited this place one week apart, and I'm sad to say that this most recent experience was this less than satisfactory. Firstly, the garlic fried chicken I was served seemed to be a day old, was cold, resulting in an unappetizing rancid taste yet pink and a little bloody. It would be helpful if the staff could be more transparent about the freshness of their food, especially when charging extra for dishes that just came hot off the kitchen like their KareKare (or they just charge extra for this particular item). Perhaps implementing a policy that clearly communicates the preparation details and pricing structure would avoid future misunderstandings but definitely letting your customer know in advance that although you see piping hot garlic fried chicken here on display, I'm not serving you that because there's still some day-old chicken back here that I need to get rid of. Despite this, the service was friendly and respectful and pleasant. I didn't find out that the food was day-old until I got home and noticed the lack of taste from what I had the week before. I met this lady name Eden, she is so mean. I start my day early morning around 8:10 am, Wanting to try their breakfast before I go to work. She is not pleasant to her customer, she is frowning and I felt that she do not want to work because she has been ignoring me since I start ordering. Spent more than $50 for breakfast and this is the kind of experience I had. The staff is looking at her and wondering why she is not paying attention on my orders. The rep from the restaurant informed me that it didn't. she future explained, this dish came with chicken and cabbage. "Ok" thinking to myself.... I explained, the picture on door dash is a little deceitful. She couldn't explained the difference and I didn't push... I received my order, and not only did it not have scrimps, I but there was no chicken. Let's be clear, I love filipino food. My favorite dish is pancit. I found a fingernail on my palabok. I chewed and bit it a few times because I thought it was just hard meat, but when I took it out of my mouth, it was new moon-shape like when u use nail cutter to cut your nails. It was a small that fits the pinky finger. I'm so grossed out, I ate all of the palabok. This is a warning to all Filipinos. This is not the first time. My daughter requested an order of fried smelt fish to go along with our dinner. When we got home, I took a bite but had to spit it out. It was stale! My 11 year old was disappointed. I've also experienced that with the fried chicken skin during the very few times we bought food there. It seemed they've been recycling the same old cooking oil as well as refrying the left overs from the day before to sell. After dinner, I went back to return it. The manager was nice but was defensive at first. She said she tasted it earlier and that it was good. I challenged her to pick any two random pieces so that I can taste one and her the other. I love Filipino food so this is a decent place to go to for those who live in the Bixby Knolls area that don't want to travel to Westside LB or Cerritos for authentic cuisine. The food is good, but not great. The portions are small for the pricing, as compared to places like Edna's or Tita Susan's. Definitely have tons of options though! My only reason for not giving a full 5 star review is the wonky service here. It seems that every time I order food here, I'm always being helped by females that are just too catty or snobby. The place is inside the Island Pacific Market. Parking lot is shared with Island Pacific customers. Considering the place is small, referring to Island Pacific Market, the parking lot is just right for the size of the place. The food presentation/packaging is great. Some other place will use styrofoam but this place uses plastic containers with lids. One good thing about that is the convenience of just stowing the food away if you were not able to finish eating. The price for the food is okay. The "combo" pricing is only for food, drinks are separately paid, unless of course you want just water; then there is a water fountain/dispenser. But for the per pound food items. Those can get pretty expensive. The server staff are friendly. Restroom is available though I did not check what the situation is at the restaurant. Overall, this place is good for a quick eat-and-go. By that, there are only a handful of dining tables. And the place do offer catering services or bulk/party orders. Reason for a 4-star rating is the convenience of food packaging coupled with the eat-and-go type is a good combination to have. We ordered 4 MEDIUM SIZE items and their medium size is a small size from another Filipino restaurant. I rather spend my money on gas to go to another Filipino place and get my monies worth. I had lunch with my friends the other day on a non-Filipino restaurant, for the four of us, I paid less that what I paid for today. And it was an EXCELLENT LUNCH!
