I braved the hot weather and terrible parking just to check out San & Wolves Bakeshop! This bakery has been on my bookmarks for awhile, and this past weekend I finally got to check it out. Located on Fourth Street, all parking is street parking, and for a Saturday afternoon, it sure was busy! I had to circle the surrounding neighborhoods a few times before finally lucking out and snagging the loading spot right by the bakery. There also was a line to get in. At first, I was confused because there were two lines, but turns out the longer line one was for the neighboring coffee shop, Reinne's Place. Since it was already 1:30pm, a lot of their pastries and breads were already sold out. I was hoping to get their ube pandesal but alas, no more! I ended up getting their Pandan Cinny Bun, Black Sesame Bun, and Ube Bun as well as their Ube Coffee Cake. The buns are gigantic! Not only were they huge, but they're also incredibly soft and delicious. I really loved how distinct the flavors were in each one . It's hard for me to pick which is my favorite out of the three because they were all so good! If I absolutely had to pick though, I really loved the Black Sesame one. The black sense and flavor on that one really came through and I loved pairing it with my coffee. The Ube Coffee Cake was also really enjoyable. It had a nice crumbly texture with a subtle sweetness. Overall, I really enjoyed all the sweet treats I tried here! Small line outside on a Saturday morning, but it moved fast. Once inside, there's a small case of breads, and a small case of cakes. I opted for the pandan cinnamon roll and a ube malasada. The malasada felt like there's a creme brulee crust on the outside where it was a harder exterior and a soft interior. It was also chewier like it was made of rice flour. Can someone confirm if it's made of rice flour? The pandan cinnamon roll was delish and had a soft center. Tasty, but not sure if I can taste pandan. This review has actually been long overdue. I've been ordering from S&W even before they opened their brick and mortar. Their bread and pastries are always good quality and very nostalgic. Even though I'm not a Filipino, the flavor of their goodies are very similar to where I'm from. I think I might have tried (almost) all stuff they have in store. Some of my favorites are bibingkas (never go wrong with this), any weekend special donuts (ube or cream "cheese" filled donuts), ube cheez pandesal and cakes. I also like their pop tarts but they usually get sold out pretty fast. Their staff are always nice and personable. Check their instagram for any special items or any other updates (such as if they're sold out fast, or if there's any discount or if there's a long line). I'd suggest to eat their bread items on the day of. The other non-bread stuff are still good even after a few days. I learned about this thru my aunt and sis and they convinced me to go there and get some goodies since it's only 6 mins from my house. I got there at 8:30 and I was #3 in line. When it was my turn to order , they were already out of Spanish bread. I was left with the bibingka , and coconut , black sesame and pandas swisher buns. Overall they're just MEH!! I don't understand what's the hype about? The goodies were al dry and not fluffy. I have had better baked goods that were home made and more flavorful. I don't think I will be back. First off I found this place on yelp and was excited to try it out as I've never had Filipino inspired pastry's and they did not disappoint. I had to wait in a short line upon arrival outside but it was well worth it. The interior was clean and tidy. A cute space . I had to try a variety of pastries, of course I've tried the cheese puff, fried mochi, strawberry pastry and cinnamon roll and they all tasted very fresh and not too sweet. We love our local small businesses. I'd been hearing about San and Wolves from my non-Filipino friends and told my husband who immediately wanted to try it. Well, it took us a while to get out here and we did on their 1-year anniversary. We got an assortment of items including a strawberry babinka, some cookies, bitsu-bitsu, ube malasada, chili Orange custard donut, sylvana and a coffee. To me, the babinka was the winner. My partner liked the malasada. The other items ranged from good to too sweet but they were all well made and good. And what's too sweet to is may be perfect for others (younger). At first I thought it was pretty pricey for its size, but, she loved it so much that I'm thinking of going back to get it back for her.
