Dr. Conwisar was recommended by my physical therapist to get a second opinion on my hip. Conwisar's staff left me hanging for over three weeks after receiving all requested insurance info from me. When I finally got through to them, it took another few days before they said the doctor only sees upper body patients for the past two or three years. My attorney granted me an appointment with Dr. Conwisar after a no-fault car collision had left me with an injured and very painful shoulder. My appointment took place at the Sherman Oaks office, where I received a warm welcome from Dr. Conwisar and his staff. Everyone was very supportive, and I couldn't have asked for a more positive experience. Not only did they truly listen when I answered their questions, but Dr. Conwisar went through great length to familiarize himself with my case. After examining my shoulder and testing my limited mobility, he offered me a pain-relieving treatment, which I gladly accepted and that finally allowed me to start moving again without feeling constant pain. Before that treatment, he explained to me what he would be doing and how it would work. After the treatment, he requested that I receive physical therapy to help improve my mobility. I will be seeing him again for a follow-up visit next month, and I look forward to it. Thanks to Dr. Conwisar, the pain relief set in within a day or two and the previously ongoing inflammation seems to have finally been eliminated. As a result, it is making my physical therapy sessions with the awesome PT team at TLC Rehabilitation so much more effective. ZERO starts would be too generous! ABSOLUTELY THE WORST!!! They don't answer emails, they lie to you repeatedly about getting stuff that they keep promising is going to get done "today." They also have the nerve to blame "covid" for NEVER responding to ANY emails or returning any calls! I don't believe covid travels through the computer screen... And that's just the office staff. Esmeralda is a made up person who I'm convinced does NOT exist, just a cop out to blame someone else. Linda is just a flat out lazy liar. NEVER returns emails or calls. Lies whenever I ask about my paperwork. I'd be fired in a heartbeat if I was this incompetent. The doctor is extremely condescending and could care less about anything else but collecting a paycheck. In over a year and a half of "treating" me, he's done ONE exam...that's right, ONE exam over that entire time. Meanwhile, my injury has deteriorated to probably a permanent condition. I've been working this entire pandemic as a first responder without any breaks or the luxury of working from home. I have only seen Dr Conwisar in the Santa Clarita office. Almost every time I have seen him, the wait is less than 5 minutes in the waiting room and another 5 minutes in the exam room. The location is clean and orderly and the staff is very professional and friendly. Dr Conwisar is professional and to the point. Some folks have complained about his lack of friendliness, but I found him to be serious and dedicated to his craft. He is not the "hold your hand" kind of doctor. But if you have a orthopedic issue and want it fixed right, Dr Conwisar is the right guy for the job. read more

I was referred to Dr. Conwisar because of an auto accident I had. I understand that most Drs are very busy and don't have too much time to give to each patient. The Dr. was quick but he did listen to all of my concerns and issues I have with my back. He was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable. He was professional and seemed to have a very efficient staff. Nice waiting room with nice chairs and a tv and magazines. Validation was available for my parking too. i read the previous reviews and could not disagree more with the negatives. First and foremost I needed a capable Doctor to repair my knee, not a best friend. Having said that, I think the 1star reviewer must of caught him on a bad day because I found him to be friendly, communicative with an excellent bed side manner. Best of all, he fixed my knee. This was by far a very successful surgery. My Physical Therpaist also commented on my quick recovery and excellent results. Yes his office is busy but I found his staff professional and helpful. I know this is a new location for him so maybe a new staff? On surgery day, he showed up promptly and reviewed what was being done. He did so in a reassuring and confident manner which made me even more comfortable, The surgery center staff was great. So much so, I made a joke I wanted to wake up from my surgery to a steaming hot cup of coffee and I got that as soon as I woke up!. Surgery took a bit longer than expected but that was due to him being a perfectionist so I felt he was meticulous and thorough. Although he had a full day of patients, he made sure to discuss with me the results and how everything went. Once at home, he called to make sure everything was ok. Medically speaking, I was very happy with Dr. Conwisar. He answered all my questions and explain what my shoulder issues were. Sadly, I cannot give a higher rating, due to the office staff. I seriously wonder if Esmeralda is an actual person. She does not answer emails or return phone calls. She has delayed my retirement by refusing to fill out disability paperwork since February 2020. I realize these are trying times, but 10 months to fill out a 5 page form? She has promised it will be done on several occasions, only not to complete it. I do not know if she knows how to do the paperwork or just refuses to do it. As a result of her delays, I am getting close to exhausting my disability benefits. I cannot recommend Dr. Conwisar as a workmans comp doctor due to the incompetence of his staff. read more

Dr Conwisar was recommended as a surgeon to repair my broken tibia and fibula after a recent fall. He told me in no uncertain terms what to expect, he didn't sugarcoat what my recovery or pain level would be and it was nice to have a doctor who was so honest and caring. I've previously gone to Dr. Conwiser for Cortizone injections, and while I found his bedside manner to be a little stiff, his skill was perfect and relieved my symptoms with no issues. Ultimately, that's what you want in a doctor, right? Except first you have to get past his office staff. I see here in other reviews that I'm not in the minority having issues with his scheduler. I have found myself in need of another Cortizone injection and called the office to schedule an appointment. I was able to get in touch with Linda, who said she would talk to the doctor about scheduling me in and get back to me. She never called me back and I've called the office three more times in the past two weeks, get voicemail every time, leave messages stating the urgency of my issue since it's my dominant hand and I'm having a really hard time using it, and have received no call back! This is unacceptable for a doctors office! And with so many continued problems with his office staff, why is he not doing something about it? It's obviously a major issue with his business and at that point, he should be involved in trying to resolve it. Good luck getting an appointment! read more

Seems when you are a worker's comp case, the doc wants you in regardless so they get paid. Sometimes worker's comp is a big scam. I tried to reschedule an appointment and was told that since I am a worker's comp case I cannot reschedule. BS. Of course I can. They just want to get paid for my visit. Was put on hold forever. NOT impressed at all. The Dr is a typical workers comp Orthopedic Dr. Sees a boat load of patients. Which means settle in you are gonna wait. Doesn't talk much, no bed side manner. So not impressed. I am only going to him because my lawyer wants me to. I do not recommend this place at all. I don't need surgery just some PT. The Good: He's a super-genius. He did amazing work on my knee surgery and my physical therapist said these were the best results she's seen as far as recovery time, swelling, etc. The Bad: He doesn't talk much. I truly believe this is because he is so smart and is focused on solving problems. However, he listened to my questions and answered them quite thoroughly. If you want to talk to someone in his office, you have to call them; they aren't good at returning calls. Likewise, if you want him to talk more, ask questions. The Shining Light: Even though he's not that friendly in the office, he was WONDERFUL on my surgery day. All smiles, very confident, and reassuring. I felt safe with him and I could tell he cared. The Ugly: You might encounter angry patients leaving his office. I think a lot of them are Worker's Comp cases who are upset that he won't bend the rules for them. I don't blame them, really, the rules suck. But it's not his fault. If you don't think you need surgery, this might not be the doc for you. Surgery is what he's best at. And when someone is cutting me open, I only go to the best. I don't care if he's not chatty, I just want him to know what the heck he's doing. read more

Friendly office staff and always makes sure you are validated for parking! One less star because it's a busy office with lots of patients, so appointments are not always on time. After spending ten plus years at Santa Monica Ortho, I am glad to have Dr. Conwisar in my corner. I have a strong belief in is work and the way he operates. My knee surgery went brilliantly and his staff was great!!!!! I have some other physical problem that I now will be seeing him for.. Trust is the best word that I can spread as a way of telling everyone that he may not have a rival in this city. I will recommend his skills to anyone in need. His staff is alway friendly and professional. That in itself is a miracle in the health field!!!!!!! If I could give this horrible man a lower than one star review I would. He is the worst doctor I've ever come in contact with. Not only is he rude, condescending and acts as if you're below him in every way, he is a terrible doctor. Offering no solution or help to a problem he supposedly specializes in (arthritis). The reviewers saying he's a good doctor just not your best friend...I guess they've never been to a truly good doctor. A good doctor not only treats you but cares about you. Dr Conwisar told my wife she needed shoulder surgery. We tried for THREE MONTHS to get the surgery scheduled. The scheduler was never in and we were routed to her voicemail every time. She never returned a single call. Same with our attempts to contact the office manager. We finally had to find another doctor, which cost additional time and money to re-trace the steps we had already taken with Dr Conwisar. Dr Conwisar is reputed to be very good, but if his office staff are going to stonewall any and all attempts to schedule treatment then there's no use in going to see him. read more

HORRIBLE STAY AWAY!!!! I cannot say enough bad stuff about Dr. Conwisar and his office staff. I have been hung up on, interrupted and yelled at. His nurse doesn't return calls. He has horrible bedside manner and spends as little amount of time possible with each patient. When I called to tell them that I couldn't have surgery b/c I found out I was pregnant they got mad at me and hung up. They make you wait over an hour and a half past your appointment time every time you go. The girls at the front desk would rather gossip loudly about patients than get any work done. When someone does approach the desk they get talked down to and treated horribly. I hate this office, this doctor and all of the staff. Do not go there if you can help it.
